Democracy in the United States is a myth.
As a word or a value to uphold, "democracy" means nothing more than the terrible system we uphold today. The U.S. may be a republic politically, but that's not what we pretend to fight for. That's not what we tell our soldiers when they go to commit genocides and war crimes, that they are fighting for a republic which gives one person either all the power or none at all. We tell them that we are protecting a democracy, and the only true democracy in the world.
We were scared when communism rose in Russia and China, and spent decades baselessly bashing the entire concept due to dictatorships labeled as communism. We fought fascism in Europe and Japan during WW2, bringing down some of the most evil governments we've seen in modern history. Yet fascists now control the White House, the symbol of our so called "democracy".
Presidents from Truman to Nixon killed thousands in Vietnam and poisoned the land with chemical weapons over the Red Scare, and protecting democracy. MAGA Republicans fight for "democracy", otherwise known as the true dictatorship under their daddy Trump. We threw Japanese Americans into concentration camps, threw Black Americans into slavery and segregation, thre Mexican Americans out of this country to protect our fragile, broken, disgusting democracy.
We need a reset. We need a new government, one that actually embodies democracy, where every voice is heard equally, and everyone from the underpriveliged to the business owners and politicians can have a say and be heard. One where our vote matters, and isn't drowned out by the millions of brainwashed psychopaths voting in a narcissist. This government is simply not enough; we need one that respects the people, makes sure everyone can live, have food, water, and shelter guaranteed. One where the rich lose their power, and their money is distributed to those who need it and programs that could use it. One where children can actually be educated on how the world works, instead of being lied to by Christians and right wing politicians, turning them into the worst kind of people on this earth.
I don't know how we'll get there. It may take a while, but we can do it. All ot takes are voices, making sure we get our way. Yelling at the top of our lungs, putting the right people in power, unfettered by the elite and insane. It's gonna be hard, but every small step is a battle won in the war towards a better world. A world where the sun feels warm on your face, almost as if the very universe is congratulating you on a job well done.
That is the world we need. It is the world we deserve.

Alright, I put down another book: here's my cliff notes review of no country for old men
It was excellent, I enjoyed it, I struggled to understand it at times though. McCarthy had a very, let's say, acquired sense of writing and once I got through the novelty of not having quotation marks or many commas, I realized I just had to focus. He's a good author but if I'm gonna read say, "the road" or "blood meridian" remains to be seen.
The book itself was good, as I said, I liked how completely unnerving the scenes with Chigurh are, I felt tense reading parts because of that. Moss was a good character, but to keep it spoiler free I'd say they did him, unceremoniously dirty. Bell was good, his parts were the hardest to grasp but he was a shaded in character and very interesting. Most of the characters were well written in fact, of the main 3 that is.
Would I recommend this book? I'm not sure, if you want to start reading Cormac McCarthy, yes, it's not at all a bad place to start. If you're just curious or have seen the movie, I don't know, I enjoyed it, but it's (as I've stated like two times) hard to follow a good couple times. I guess you could say, my recommendation, is a coin toss

how did you like the season 3 of bridgertons?
I liked the first half, the second half felt like a disappointment or so out of line. After episode 5 or 6 Polin seemed to become side charachters 😒 while it was their season! The side-stories took complete control in the second half. I found their scenes sometimes awkward in part 2. I felt second hand embarrassement. The Benny scene's urgh I skipped them he was barely around and spend more time having threesomes than being around the family. It felt plain and just driven with pleasure. I have no problem with Michaela (michael) the thing that bothered me was that Fran said she loved John. Their kiss felt like she did not love him and her lovey dovey eyes to Michaela from the first second felt like she just threw her love confession for John out of the window like John who? It felt too rushed. I mean if it built up like in the book (which I have not read) I could understand it more. Now it just felt like what she built up with John by telling how she loved him and wanted to marry him, that it meant nothing! Also why let us have sympathy for Cressida to just let her be the villain once more 🤷‍♀️
I did enjoy Lady D as always 🥰 Phillipa that darn sweetie with the bugs was an absolute delight. I really enjoyed the featherintongs more this season than the Bridgertons. The Bridgerton's where all over the place 🫣
I wonder whoes next story will be and how? I do hope Sofie remains as I just love myself a Cinderella story.
What did you think?
Also i'm not saying this to start a war or something. It is just how I felt about the season. I didn't enjoy it as much as the second one which is up till now still my fav season 🥰

i genuinely don’t get the whole “let’s shame booktok for reading books with smut in it” argument i see people have on tiktok? sooo many think they have the moral fucking high ground because they don’t read “spicy books”, like they also haven’t read trashy and/or cringy shit while in their teens.
“well we had a wattpad phase” then why are you complaining you fucking hypocrite. if you also have read cringe smut why are you shaming others for doing so? the only difference is that you read it on your phone while they bought physical copies.
“you can go to wattpad or ao3 for that” it’s so cool when you collectively shit in fanfic writers just to feel superior. implying that the only thing you can find of fanfic websites is poorly written works is soooo cool and trendy of you to say. like those people don’t take hours out of their day to publish something enjoyable FOR FREE.
it’s especially annoying because i would get it if these teens were saying that booktok works have more educational value than the classics, but they aren’t, and it’s not like they’re spending YOUR money to buy those books, so why are you bitching about it?
(also, on that note, it’s not like these people complaining are reading Dickens, Dostoevsky, or Shakespeare on the daily??? while they’re spending 15 hours on tiktok to bitch about teenagers, said teens are spending those same hours reading🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️)

unfollow me right the fuck now if you think supporting palestine is antisemitic because i have far too many nasty ppl messaging me right now accusing me of being
A) a zionist
and
B) an antisemite.
you people do not know what these words mean and i'm tired. I am a jew, and (not that it largely matters) an ethnic, cultural jew, who has been taught through deep seated intergeneration trauma, from very early childhood what genocide looks like. this is genocide. I will support Palestinian people however I can I would just really like to stop getting accused of two terrible opposite things, neither of which are true in the slightest.
fuck off.

It's very frustrating to read people straight up post misinformation in the name of body positivity. Like, you don't have to lie about how the human body works in order to fight against fatphobia. It's bad, actually. Health comes in many different shapes and sizes, and it's important to keep that in mind.

Frederick, on some level, understood that it was unfair. It was unfair how the CPC was allowed to insult him but he wasn't allowed to say one bad word or he got harassed to no end. It was unfair that he was expected to forgive Blaine for all he did to him while Prez almost killed Whitney. It unfair how he was held to such a high standard compared to everyone else. It was all unfair, he understood.
But it all had an explanation. These were neurotypicals! They had never made sense! Well, they never made sense to him. Because Frederick was an idiot who couldn't even be in a crowd to long without screaming. They're neurotypicals. They always know better than him

This might be a little random, but I just want to shout out the artists who try different approaches and have vastly different headcanons from what's considered "the norm" within the COTL fandom. You guys are the MVP.
You guys give us a new flavor and taste we never thought we would like, despite gatekeepers trying to push their opinions and telling you to "do this!" or "It should be that!", you guys can just ignore them and do whatever you like is incredible.
TLDR: Let people share their stories the way they want to. I'm sorry to say this but not everyone is gonna ship the sheep and the cat, hell the story might not be ship-focused, and that's okay! God forbid we have variety in this house-
so ye that my lil rant for the day :)

sketch for tonight. Sebastian's situation in the fandom seems REALLY similar to Jax from TADC. An asshole the community finds cute and thus parts of said community characterize him as a soft good boy in their heads.
Once more content of said character comes out doubling down on their already established asshole behavior (Update leak where Sebastian shoves you every time you try and climb up on him because he has always disliked expendables and would actually do anything else than be forced to work with the vermin/Jax in the entirety of Candy Carrier Chaos) The aforementioned part of the community start to bemoan over how the character is "such a jerk now" and the creator(s) don't want the fandom to have any fun.
Guys. Climbing on top of Sebastian is a glitch. A glitch that can very easily get you softlocked, especially in solo runs. It was going to get patched out anyways.
Anyways I think I will use the term "Jaxtaposition" for any character whose fandom interpretation of their personality is completely different from their canonical personality to the point of sheer ridiculousness

Phantom doesn't trust the Justice League as far as he could throw them- which was a weird statement to make considering, so he might as well say he did not trust them.
First there had been the attempt to exorcise him. That had been done with some very obviously coerced members of Dark, who had eventually been stopped by a panicked Constantine who Phantom now had weekly tea with. (Because Danny needed more ways to defend himself outside of his ghostly abilities, and especially with the attention of the JL now focused on him. Constantine had not put up much of a fight, especially after that incident.)
Following that had been the JL's attempt at peacemaking and finally handling the Anti-Ecto Acts- which had simply sped up the work that Team Phantom had been working on since the majority of their group hit 17 and the threats were more human than ghost. Taking credit for the years of activism and appeal Team Phantom had already made efforts in had soured whatever they wished to gain.
Offering him a place within the teams of Young Justice or the Titans had been another layer of insult when they tried to pressure him into some sort of mentorship- Phantom very much was insulted by the implications that he needed any such help after the years of being left to fend for himself. And the implications that they thought they could control and observe him now.
The final straw was their invitation to join the Justice League itself.
"I don't know about you," Phantom drawls, tone almost apathetic as his head leans against his fist. He was hovering in the air, sat back in a pose his little sister often called his "I'm dealing with idiots and politics" posture. "But if I've repeatedly rejected and ignored an individual who asked for help, then ignored their requests to leave them be... well, I wouldn't assume they would wish to join your club and be pleased by it."
"King Phantom," Wonder Woman begins, one of the few who actually had any sense. She looks exhausted.
Another member, one of the Green Lanterns whose names Danny couldn't be bothered with after some rather volatile debates with the dead of Oa, cuts her off.
"Look, kid, you're being offered something most other heroes only dream of being offered-"
"Most other people have to be recommended or apply to join the League, or otherwise be ignored and left to handle situations such as a chunk of the Midwest sinking into the Infinite Realms through the directions of a tyrannical conqueror seeking to gain access to the mortal world."
Silence. There were a few winces, as well as a few heroes who were glancing nervously towards Superman who was frowning.
"Look, we've obviously made mistakes-" the man in blue begins. Phantom cuts him short as well.
"A mistake is dismissing a call about ghosts as a prank," he states. "A mistake is making assumptions based off the research of science and believing it to be true."
He sat up, crown flaring above his head with frost as the temperature in the room dropped.
"What you have done is blatantly allow a government to persecute and prepare acts of genocide, while ignoring the evidence and pleas of the people you swear to protect. You then proceed to ignore the word of those who have stood the line of defence and resolve the matter without any representation of the voices that fought long enough to be heard."
"What would you have us do."
It was Batman who spoke up. While not his favorite member of the League, Phantom could appreciate the fact that the man had been left out of most of the formal decision making on these matters- even Amity Park had heard of the strange mass outbreak of Arkham residents spilling into Gotham- something that had not happened in quite a while. It had kept Batman and his associate busy enough to keep away from League business, in an effort to keep the chaos contained to Gotham's borders.
But Batman had many issues and Phantom had very little care for them.
"At this time? Move on. The situation is handled, and those who have not screwed up diplomatic matters are informed and may keep contact. We want no further ties to the Justice League or it's members at this time."
