#sonic the hedgehog in castle robotnik

So I finally finished the novel "Sonic the Hedgehog in Castle Robotnik" and it was quite a trip! lol

I won't go into too much detail, but the basic plot is that Robotnik is filming a big monster movie, with Sonic and Tails as the unwitting "stars" of the flick. Of course the goal is to ultimately destroy Sonic during the making of it, because Robotnik is using real monsters he created in his lab. It's all very silly and tongue-in-cheek. Robotnik even has a robot movie director named Spielbot in charge of the production. lol

What I really want to focus on though are the monsters.

So, this "movie" Robotnik is making, shot guerilla style in the hopes of catching Sonic off guard and killing him in any given "scene", has multiple monsters, all based on the classic Hollywood types like vampires, werewolves, mummies, zombies, etc. These monsters though aren't what you'd expect from Robotnik, being robots or even lifelike animatronics. They're actually flesh and blood, all genetically engineered by the doctor in his lab. And to make things even weirder, all of the monsters look like Sonic's animal friends, including a werewolf that resembles Tails!

Which brings me to this particular specimen, the predictably named "Frankensonic". This creature is what Robotnik has saved for the big climax scene of his "movie", made to be the ultimate weapon to destroy Sonic, his friends, and the entirety of the Green Hill Zone once and for all!

And though that image on the cover of the book does depict what is supposed to be Frankensonic, he's actually described looking significantly different in the book.

For starters, he's actually described as being about 20 meters (or 65 feet) high, basically a kaiju! Also, he's described as being green rather than blue, having unsightly scars/stitching on his forehead, neck, and wrists, bolts jutting out of either side of his neck, and shoes that do not resemble Sonic's red sneakers (being described as "the sort of footwear that gives rise to rhymes about old women living in shoes").

What's really interesting about this creature though is that, despite apparently being flesh and blood like the other monsters, it actually has what is described as a "bizarre, home-made robotic brain". It's ultimately defeated when, with the help of Tails and Mickey the monkey, its forehead stitching is basically "unzipped", causing the top of its skull to flip open, after which Sonic hops inside its gigantic head and uses a wrench to dismantle several cogs, gears, and mechanisms in its robotic brain, which causes it to topple over and crush what remained of Castle Robotnik.

All of this happened very quickly at the tail end of the book, with Sonic even breaking the fourth wall by mentioning that there isn't much of the book left for them to wrap things up, adding a sort of time element, lol. All in all, Frankensonic barely gets to do anything before being defeated (though I guess if he actually did get to do more the resulting destruction would probably have been too devastating). And despite everything, I do feel a little bad for Frankensonic, and I kinda like to imagine Mickey could repair Frankensonic's broken brain and reprogram him to be a force for good instead of destruction, since the tech savvy monkey did openly admit he had been studying its brain after its defeat. But oh well.

Here's to you, Frankensonic! We hardly knew ye!

Summary

“You’re going in there? Really?”

Shadow stared silently at the young mobian before him.

Barely a teenager, he supposed. Awkward in the face and wide-eyed, old enough to walk around town by himself, but young enough not to realize that hunters weren’t as cool as his bedtime stories told him. 

He averted his gaze from the teen and refocused on pulling his heavy leather glove back on, the setting sun glinting off its gold accents. He rolled his shoulders and felt the weight of the leather jacket shift with him, its coattails fluttering for only a moment. His ear twitched as the teen started up again.

“You really think you're gonna find the Vampire Queen’s castle out there? It’s gonna be too dark to see a foot ahead of you.”

Shadow huffed air out his nose, glancing at the kid for a second before looking over to the dark forest on the horizon.

“She’ll love the dark.”

Febuwhump 2022 Day 12: Spiked Drink

Rebuilding was boring. Sonic was terribly bored through the majority of the process. The actual physical action of rebuilding would not have been as bad were it not for the constant meetings and conferences that seemed to expand for hours upon hours throughout the days. After the fall of Robotnik’s Empire it was practically a madhouse around the Castle of Acorn and Knothole. Mobians of every corner attempting to find the answer to the number one question: “what now?” While the Freedom Fighters attempted to help get cities and kingdoms back in running order before the real chaos were to erupt.

Keeping people safe was easy. Fighting robots and monsters and gods? A breeze. But politics? Truly were to be the end of the poor blue blur.

Sonic sat at the large table, full of other Freedom Fighters and stuffy old world leaders. The current discussion of the Kingdom of Mobius was the last meeting Sonic wanted to be at. However, as an heir it was required. If it was any other place on the planet there might have been a chance of getting out of it. But here? There was no hope.

Sonic tilted back his chair as he heaved out a sigh. The sound of discussion blurring to nothing but static in the background of his mind. He absentmindedly ran his gaze among the rest of the group. Finally landing on his elder pink sibling across from him.

Sonia met his gaze with a glare of her own. She held up four fingers before giving a sharp down point. Her message was perfectly clear.

Sonic groaned under his breath and let the front two legs of his chair fall back to the ground. The sound caused a few to look in his direction; which he ignored. Instead, he plopped an elbow onto the table before him, his cheek easily fitting into his hand. He sat like that for a good moment before he felt another hand gently take hold of his wrist.

He looked up to see his mother, giving him a gentle smile accompanied with a reprimanding raised brow. She moved his arm off the table and placed it back into Sonic’s own lap. She gave the top of his hand a pat before putting her attention back to the conversation.

Sonic bit back a sound of frustration. He snapped to attention when he caught the sound of snickering and easily traced it back to his younger brother. The green hedgehog beside Sonia stifled his humor with a hand over his muzzle, clearly having seen the previous interaction. Sonic retaliated by sending Manic an avian finger gesture.

His insulting hand towards his brother was cut short by the feeling of a hand hitting his arm. Sonic snapped to look at Sally on his other side.

“Can you please behave for five minutes?” she hissed out at him.

Sonic opened his mouth to defend himself but quickly shut it again as Sally’s glare turned venomous with warning. Instead, he crossed his arms and fell back into his chair with a huff. He momentarily questioned if running away to the woods was still an option.

After another long, agonizing moment of whatever the hell conversation was happening around him, Sonic noticed a castle worker walk in with a tray of drinks. He watched as they placed a cup to each person at the table before exiting in silence.

He took no real thought to the action ‘til Sally took in her own drink. Only a moment later Sonic noticed her place her hand to her head. Her fur looked as though her skin was paling underneath.

“Sal?” he whispered to her, attempting to both grab her attention and silently question the action.

Her eyes moved to him. The rest of her body seemed to attempt to stay still but began to waver. She shook her head as if trying to clear it. “I… I’m fine just… Dizzy all of a sudden,” she responded. Her voice sounded tight.

Sonic reached out to put a hand on her shoulder. He didn’t even get halfway before she was swaying right out of her seat. Sonic reacted fast, grabbing her by the waist over her chair. “Sal!” he yelled in surprise. The chipmunk’s body was limp in his hold. Her eyes open but dazed and foggy.

The rest of the room was shocked into motion. Most of them gasping or sanding in surprise.

Sonic pulled Sally backup and into her chair, pulling it out from the table so he could kneel before her on a knee. He took her face gently into her hands to steady her head. “Sal, hey. Can you hear me? Say somethin’ Sally,” he urged, hoping to get any sort of response from her.

The only response being a sound of pain and a weak hand grabbing at his arm.

Behind them, Nigel and Aleena were quick to rush over. Followed by Bunnie and Antione.

The sound seemed to come back tenfold as everyone in the room began to talk and shout. Sonic forced himself to tune it out best he could, the suddenness of everything becoming overwhelming. He didn’t snap back to the conversations till the word ‘poison’ slapped into him.

Sonic snapped to look over to his mother. Aleena stood with Sally’s cup in her hand, Sonia reaching for it herself.

“What?” Sonic hissed out to them. Wanting so badly for it to have been a mishear.

Aleena and Sonia looked back to him and the others crowding around Sally. “Her drink has been poisoned.”

The information spun around Sonic’s mind for a millisecond before she shot up to his feet. His knuckles white from anger. “That castle worker.”

Before anyone could make another move, Sally’s form quickly began to fall without Sonic’s support. He rushed forward to catch her again. He held her against himself for a moment with a sigh. Much too close. A concussion would not do anyone any good. He set her back up, this time keeping his hands on her shoulder to steady her.

“I have to go after him. He has to know something about it.”

Nigel stepped forward this time. “No. You have to take my daughter to Doctor Quack. You’re the fastest of us all.”

Sonic moved to argue only to be cut off by Manic, “we got the worker dude. Just hurry!” The command was clearly enough to set the whole room into motion. Everyone began to run into their own task of finding the perpetrator as Sonic hoisted Sally into his arms.

He looked down at the princess. Her head lulled weakly into his chest. Sonic only pulled her closer into his hold before shooting off.

In the castle infirmary, Sally laid on the examination bed as Dr. Quack moved around at his tables. Sonic had no possible idea as to what the Doctor was doing but didn’t dare bother to ask. The better focused Dr. Quack stayed, the better off the situation would be, Sonic decided.

He was told to watch over Sally and the Doc. He was told to be there if they needed him and keep on standby. He looked over to Sally. His hands balled to tight fists in his lap. He hated being on standby. He hated just sitting there feeling helpless and useless. He should be out there finding that bastard that tried to pull this stunt in the first place. He should be with his mother and siblings and the King to make sure none of them are targeted next. He should be-

Sally’s head fell to the side to look over at him. She was still awake, but barely. He met her gaze as she reached out a heavy, trembling hand to his arm. He put his own hand over hers, keeping it steady. With a sigh and a forced smile he whispered, “I’m fine, Sal. You’re the one that’s on the gurney.”

Her eyes squeezed shut before forcing themselves back open. Sonic’s chest tightened at the sight. They’d been in worse jams than this and she wasn’t dead yet. That was by far enough hope to latch onto for him. His hand tightened over hers for a moment before placing it back beside her.

“Well,” Dr. Quack started up; catching Sonic’s attention. “It doesn’t seem like she’s going to die.” The duck turned to the other, a notebook in hand. “Whoever made this attempt on her life clearly had no idea what they were doing.” He sighed and put the book back down on the counter. “Which can probably rule out the possibility of any major threat backing it.”

“If this isn’t Egghead’s hand then why would someone come for her life in the first place?” Sonic hissed out angrily. He bit his tongue so as not to lash out at the Doctor. He wanted nothing more than to be pointed towards the correct reason for his anger to take it out on them instead.

“You of all people should understand how citizens tend to be,” Dr. Quack said with a disinterested wave. “I’ve definitely seen enough Wanted posters with your mug on them during the empire’s height.”

Sonic crossed his arms. “Yeah ‘n’ most of those were ordered by the ‘Buttnik himself. I don't see how that connects.”

“Maybe so, but you still had a poor reputation in the view of the populace.” Dr. Quack leaned back against the counter. “Unfortunately, there will continue to be a decent group of people who believe that staying under Robotnik’s rule is better. Whether because they believe it’s safer or more prosperous.”

“Prosperous?” Sonic shouted out in anger, jumping to his feet. “The planet was half dead! Healthy forests were fewer and farther between than ever.” Sonic threw out his hands and arms as he spoke. Getting louder and more upset as he went. “Most waterways were so polluted areas that relied on fishing were practically abandoned! The sky still looks like a constant storm cloud! How the fuck is that prosperous or even safe!” Dr. Quack raised his hand, stopping the blue hedgehog from continuing.

Sonic dropped his arms only to cross them back over his chest.

“You’re missing the point,” he started, dropping his hand back against the counter behind him. “Not all Mobians are like you and the others. In fact, a lot of them aren’t. They want what is safest for themselves and their families. Other consequences aren’t particularly in their minds. If being under the tyrannical dictatorship of Dr. Robotnik means a chance of survival, they’re willing to go along with it. Some are even willing to go further,” he said, gesturing to Sally. “Even your parents faced similar hardships in their days as the resistance.”

At the mention of his parents, Sonic’s form slacked some.

“It’s part of the reason your mother is disbanding her kingdom entirely. Though,” he added, “There is much more to that choice than just the unruly crowds. Even so, this transition is going to be very difficult. The empire is gone but putting everything else back in place is not going to be easy.”

“Why am I not surprised,” Sonic mumbled, falling back to his seat and looking back to Sally.

Submission #97: Yet another take on Shadamy (black arms edition)

Project Shadow….the ultimate lifeform…Maria…chaos emerald…space colony ark…Professor Gerald robotnik…Black Doom…

The words twirl around inside of shadows mind…almost as if it’s corrupting him from the inside, he can’t seem to think straight…he’s unsure of who his allies or enemies are…

His breathing is heavy…panicked he’s down on his hands and knees gasping for air upon realising what he’s been doing, his mind feels so consumed with…rage? Anger? Guilt? He’s not sure why however he doesn’t have time to question himself as he stands up…his breathing returning back to normal…

Shadow looks up at the crimson red sky and the castle-like structures…

“The doctor must know something…”

With that he skates off, heading towards the Halloween-like castle.

A few hours Ago

Location: Westoplis

Aliens tear through the street after seemingly coming from nowhere, within hours the entire city has become a warzone with G.U.N scrambling their units all across the world to help try and contain this attack but their strength in sheer numbers are simply overwhelming.

A young boy runs through the street with a Black Arms solider beginning to give chase and aim its weapon towards the child… More Black arms soilders black the young boys path and one raises a spiky purple sword…

The kid begins to cry and call out to anyone…however with the many explosions and gunshots he can’t be heard by anyone nearby…

Just as the kid closes his eyes, the wind around him begins to kick up and streaks of blue can be seen, suddenly the towering Alien is sent flying into a car which results in it blowing up due to the sheer force, the other Alien is quickly knocked down a second after.

The terrified child looks up to see the world renowned hero offering his hand…helping the young child up who begins to cry and hug the blue blur.

“Don’t worry now, everything will be alright”

Sonic reassures the child however sonic turns around to see the alien with the blaster get back up and aim its weapon at the kid.

“Chaos spear!”

A yellow energy attack strikes the Alien, knocking it down for good, sonic turns around and looks to see Shadow slowly walk over to him.

“Don’t get sloppy again, people’s lives are at stake here”

Sonic sighs and thanks Shadow, shaking his head to get serious.

“Yeah you’re right, I can’t make a mistake like that again, give me a second I’ll take this kid to a safe zone”

Sonic says but stops himself for a split second.“But I do have this, kept hold of it since that metal overlord incident a few days back”

Sonic holds out a green chaos emerald and continues.

“I’ve heard that G.U.N have another one in this city…I don’t really trust them with it though I how about we keep hold of it instead…until we can get all 7.”

Sonic smirks with shadow responding with almost an identical smirk, the blue blur then picks up the kid and within a few seconds, he returns.

“Alright done, come on let’s go help out”

Sonic taps shadows shoulder and speeds on off in which the black hedgehog looks around at his surrounding, having the feeling that he’s being followed…

“The secrets of my past…”

He mumbles…remembering what Black Doom had told him…he speeds right after sonic.

Location: ???

Shadow skates through the castle, the Egg pawns seem to be busy with the Black Arms, with them all distracted he’s able to skate through without much resistance and grab onto a balloon of all things and float above the ongoing battle below…

At the worst time however his mind begins to race again…clutching his head in pain as his memories begin to clash…unsure of when each one takes place however it causes him to lose enough grip on the balloon and fall, landing straight down near the outskirts of the main castle with towers protruding everywhere…

Location: Metropolis

“Hey shadow! You see that? It’s a Chaos emerald!”

Sonic shouts to the Black hedgehog in which he looks at the strange gem…shadow seems to recall that it allowed sonic to transform into a much stronger version of himself and it also made him golden…Maybe he could use that same power to take out these Black Arms all in one go…

The blue emerald seems to be on the ground, next to a destroyed G.U.N truck.

“We need to get that Emerald! Without it the digital circuit wont last with only one emerald powering it!”

A solider shouts upon seeing multiple Black Arms troops begins to surround it and begrudgingly, shadow takes out a fair few Aliens before grabbing hold of the emerald however once he does…something inside of him snaps…

Memories of a place…up in space…all at once his memories from the Space Colony Ark 50 years ago however all of that happiness is shrouded in darkness…that very day…the day everyone he cared about was taken away from him… the day Maria died…

Shadow holds the blue emerald however a Red Aura begins to emit from it…sonic looks at shadow almost confused as a starfish like creature with an Eye floats down with his eye letting off the same aura…

“Hey who are you!”

Sonic shouts, looking down at shadow who is still grabbing his head in pain whilst holding the emerald… sonic’s voice is so low it almost becomes a growl.

“What did you do to him…”

The starfish creature simply ignores him and faces shadow.

“They took everything from you…the very same people you call your friends are fighting alongside those who took everything from you…

Go…take your long awaited revenge”

“Answer my question!”

Sonic shouts which results in the creature finally turning around and speaking…

“A simple trick… I sensed that Project Shadow has so much untapped anger within him…all I need to do is control it and manipulate him to attack you…the emerald is a perfect source of power to do that”

Sonic looks uncertain at first however one glance at shadow just standing, limp behind that starfish like creature for some odd reason…

“I am Black Doom…I have returned 50 years after the deal to seek what I promised…now shadow…my son! Lay waste to those who oppose you and bring me the chaos emeralds…”

Sonic looks shocked at the revelation with the soilders raising their weapons and firing and sonic quickly attempts to rush towards the soilders to protect them…

Shadows inhibitor rings then are removed and he charged towards the soilders…

“CHAOS BLAST!”

A giant explosion of red chaos energy destroys nearly everything… leaving the soilders unconscious with sonic barely able to stay awake…taking the brunt force of Shadows attack to protect the soilders however during the attack, he dropped his emerald in the process…

Shadow walks over and stares blankly at the blue hedgehog whilst he puts his inhibitor rings back on and picks up the emerald…

“This makes 2”

Shadow says to himself however another rush of mementoes begin to course through his mind…him being…reawakened almost 50 years later…remembering the promise he made to Maria…to kill everyone on earth, further feeling his anger…

“S…Sha-“

Sonic falls unconscious with Shadow walking away holding 2 emeralds, leaving him alive…

“Perfect Project Shadow…Your next task will be to destroy the Digital Circuit…the humans planetary defences will be down”

Shadow simply nods as he shouts chaos control…disappearing…

Shadow gets back up from the long fall..rubbing his head yet again… Shadow seems to mostly be in control since he’s further away from Black Doom…however these memories of his are not kind to him at all…different moments of his life all jumbled up and happening at once in his mind…

“Why would I save the earth? Why was I working with Sonic? I’m supposed to be dead so why am I here…”

Shadow clutches his head yet again, his memories all jumbled up however he looks ahead to see a familiar pink hedgehog run directly into the castle, looking like she’s in a panic…

Shadow skates down in order to catch up with her, he seems to recall this pink hedgehog having a crush on sonic? He’s uncertain but he also has a memory of her hugging him…and one her just talking to him? Of all the memories he has back, for some reason he can’t seem remember what she was telling him but all he knows is that it…

It makes him feel whole…like whatever is currently scrambling his mind is slowly being chipped away by that memory…

Location: Digital Circuit

“Shadow this isn’t you!” Rouge attempts to reason with him however it doesn’t seem to do anything…it’s almost like he’s returned to the way he was once he was first awakened but more violent…

Shadow simply fires a chaos spear in her direction which she barely dodges and takes cover behind some G.U.N robots…

“Humans took everything I cared about away from me…and then you used me for your own goals…”

Shadow shouts in anger as he closes in on the yellow chaos emerald.

Rouge flies above shadow and attempts to drill-kick him from the air however he easily grabs her leg and throws her into a wall…With little to no resistance left shadow grabs the yellow chaos emerald and pulls it out of the device it’s being held in..

Rouge looks at shadow completely exhausted…and completely outmatched with her putting one of her hands up to an earpiece…like she’s listening to someone talk.

“Negative…Shadow has broken through the digital circuit and has taken the chaos emerald…”

Rouge looks injured and see’s shadow walk off however Black Doom also seems to be next to him…she remembers finding Sonics barely conscious in westopolis and him telling her that shadow started acting this way once that thing showed up.

A few seconds later Shadow yet again grabs his head in pain…even more memories flooding back to him but this time…it’s shadow saving the world…him admitting to the blue blur that Sonic might actually be the ultimate lifeform…Maria’s true wish…

A pink hedgehog…

Rouge notices the opening and rushes over to attack, but not targeting shadow… she instead strikes black Doom which causes shadow to gasp for air…almost as if he’s been dragged down into the ocean and he looks at rouge with conflicted emotions…

Rouge tells shadow to teleport to somewhere called “cryptic castle”…and find doctor eggman… he might be able to fix whatever is going on with him..

Rouge see’s even more Aliens approach her as she retreats the area and shadow glares at black doom…then uses chaos control…

“Cream! Cheese! Where are you!”

A familiar pink hedgehog shouts desperately whilst running through the outskirts of the cryptic castle, unbeknownst to her, attracting the attention of some Black Arms however she pulls out her hammer…clearly not in the mood.

“I may not have any special abilities but I can fight! If you’ve done something to Cream or Cheese I swear to Solaris I will-“

She is cut off by a giant Black arms Alien attempting to punch her in which he jumps out of the way and slams her hammer down at the creatures hand…

It recoils back slightly with the standard sized aliens firing blasts at her, causing her to take cover and is now cornered…

“Come in Amy think! what would Sonic or Shadow do?”

The pink hedgehog mumbles to herself, taking a peek of the room, she see’s a red explosive barrel in the distance and smirks then thinks to herself, this is definitely more shadows style…

She quickly gets out of cover and attempts to throw her hammer right at the explosive barrel.

Just as it’s about to impact and cause an explosion, a stray blast manages to hit her shoulder, causing her throw to be off and now resulting in her being injured…she grits her teeth and attempts to hold back the pain of the burning plasma hitting her bare skin…

Amy hears the Aliens come closer however before she can think of a plan, a familiar voice is heard…

“Chaos Control!”

From Amys perspective…she is suddenly outside of the room she was just in, looking back to see the very same room engulfed in flames and they aliens laying on the floor. She looks up to see shadow breathing heavily and clutching his head whilst…holding her hammer!?

“That hammer is pretty heavy…here” shadow tries to make small talk whilst still holding his head in pain, dropping the hammer next to the pink hedgehog.

“t-thanks for the help shadow…are you okay?”

Amy questions and suddenly gets closer to shadow, moving his hand away from his face, suddenly his pupils are no longer red but…yellow?

“What’s wrong?”

She genuinely asks, now worried about him.

Shadow stumbles back slightly, dropping the hammer and questioning her…

“Do-do you not know what’s going on?”

Shadow asks with Amy looking confused…

“I mean…what else is there to know…Aliens are invading”

Amy shrugs, looking confused however Shadow comes to a realisation…maybe she’s not been told about what happened to him?

“When was the last time you spoke to anyone we know?”

Shadow asks rapidly with any scratching her head…

“I dunno, maybe a day or two ago? I haven’t been able to contact anyone since the Aliens arrived…why are they okay?!”

Amy begins to panic at the thought of any of her friends being hurt however Shadow quickly puts a hand in her shoulder…

“Don’t worry, I’m sure they’re fine”

Shadow reassures her… with what little control he had when fighting sonic and rouge…all he knows is that he used what little control over his mind he had to make sure to leave them alive…

“Anyway what are you even doing here?”

Shadow questions Amy instantly with her suddenly panicking once again and going to rush off but she clutches her shoulder in pain.

“You’re hurt…”

Shadow states in an…angry? Tone.

“Don’t worry about it, I can’t handle a bit of pai-“

She grits her teeth and squeezes her eyes shut… whatever that shot was is burning her, shadow carefully lays Amy against the wall.

“I’ve been hit by one of these, they burn like hell and I have an increased healing factor…”

Shadow tells Amy in which she jokes.

“You trying to show off or something?”

Amy laughs with shadow showing a slight smirk.

“I’m going to try and patch you up but it’ll hurt a bit”

Shadow tells her however amy simply nods…the pain seemingly getting worse.

Shadow teleports away for a split second and teleports back…now holding a small G.U.N medical kit…he decides not to tell her that he stole it…

Before Amy can question what just happened Shadow speaks first

“I’ve got three emeralds…I may as well use them to help someone”

Amy then sighs in relief as shadow begins to clean her wound but she can’t help but ask…

“What’s wrong with your eyes? Why are they yellow?”

Shadow looks at her and tells her something…

“I’m going to tell you something… promise to not freak out” shadow says with amy nodding, both of them still in close proximity.

“I’m part of these Aliens, my DNA is part Black Arms…that’s what they’re called”

Shadow admits, ashamed of what he’s done but he continues to tell her all the events that took place prior to him meeting her here…

After a few long minutes, shadow finally finishes his summary…

“You can attack me or whatever but only after I’ve finished patching you up” Shadow says with shame in his voice but Amy looks at him with confusion…

“Why would I do that?”

She asks, genuinely confused as to why he’d think such a thing but he looks at her, baffled himself.

“Because I’m part of those monsters…their leader gets control over me if I’m too close…I’m unstable, these memories are so disjointed and confusing I don’t know what and when anything has happened…”

Shadow says…with his breathing picking up once again and his shallow rapid breaths become more noticeable.

Those words yet again are all spiralling in his mind, causing his breathing the become rapid and even more shallow…he feels as if he’s being dragged down to the deepest depths of the ocean…a cold and lonely way to go out… that’s all he feels… as the cold wraps around him…the weight of what he’s done pulling him to the depths…he speaks out loud...

“Maybe it’s what I deserve…I’ve hurt so many people, let so many people down…I doesn’t deserve to live…I doesn’t deserve to be happy…I’ve broken my promise time and time again…I’m nothing but an unstable person who is a second away fro-“

Suddenly…

he feels a warmth…

It’s been so long for him…

The last time he felt that was…he can’t even remember it’s been so long

All of his thoughts slowly begin to melt away…bit by bit…

The warmth wrapping around his body…

He opens his eyes…

Amy has gone from laying down and using a wall as support to having sprung from her position and given shadow a hug…one that is so long overdue…

“You deserve to be happy…Everyone does. You’ve never let me down. Even if you have broken your promise, that’s okay, you tried your best and that’s all anyone can ever do so don’t worry, you don’t have the be ‘the ultimate’ when I’m around…you can just be you…”

Amy softly reassures shadow…stroking his quills go help calm him down…surprisingly he hugs back…

Truth be told Amy is scared…she’s never been so scared in her life as she is now but her friend is hurting…for her…that’s what takes priority.

End of Part 1

I don’t remember the last time I posted a submission here but here is yet another one…this time it is a two-parter (done right this time hopefully).

I can’t help myself from adding a bit of context to the current story so that’s why I added the Metropolis and brief Digital Circuit sections of the story to understand why shadow is the way he is currently…

This is the most emotional I’ve written Shadow and probably will for a while, i don’t really like an “overly emotional” shadow as I don’t feel it fits but in this case, it’s a unique circumstance so I see it as “in character”…

Shadow the hedgehog (the game) could’ve had a really interesting story continuing from SA2 but the multiple pathways ruin it for me, too many options that don’t make sense. Obviously if I was doing a whole STH rewrite I’d make shadow a Villain for much longer however in the case of this short story, I just followed the stage order up until you reach cryptic castle.

I also wanted to give a realistic enough reason for shadow being a villain at first so I just thought maybe black doom is using his power and the emeralds to manipulate shadow and that requires his focus.

Also I’ve thrown in a nice Easter egg for those who can guess but if not it’ll be expanded on in the next part.

So yeah that’s part one, part two should come out…uhhh…at some point in the future…

Also I hope that this is formatted properly, every-time I send one of these in the paragraphs always seem to be missing and I have no idea why…

I am 100% with you on the diverging paths in ShTH and Shadow’s “mood swings” in that game. It was an interesting, ambitious approach, and there are definitely plenty of good moments, but I think it did some real damage to Shadow’s character.

I love the reasoning you gave for why Shadow would go down a dark path. This makes sense, makes Shadow more sympathetic, and ties in his alien heritage in a smoother way. Also love the yellow eyes. Sega’s got a half-alien hedgehog, and they could be doing so much more with it!

Shadow and Amy’s dynamic is great so far. She’s exactly who he needs. She’s the perfect mixture of brave and compassionate to reach out to him without being scared. I’m looking forward to part 2!))

No offense, but a lot of your critiques about SatAM and Archie (both the Sonics in said shows and the shows in their entirety) feel like you're working backwards from the conclusion of "monarchy bad/primitive" and only afterwards looking for elements in said media to justify said claim. Not only is this troubling, as there are plenty of active and upright monarchies around the world, but it also feels hypocritical, as you yourself have decried others working backwards from "certain" conclusions.

And you sound like you're using terms and expressions that I have used and trying to turn them back on me without understanding what they actually mean =P

How is it "troubling" to think that monarchy's are bad? x3 I don't even have time to unpack how fucking demented that is as a statement lol

What entitles a man to be king? What gives Sally's family the right to rule and dictate authority over others? What entitles them to a palace with servants and to arbitrate over others? Why, exactly, are they in charge?

The simplest answer, in a piece of media such as Archie where the author clearly didn't put any fucking thought into the system whatsofuckingever and is just using the trappings of nobility as a storytelling shorthand, is "because their dad/parent was in charge." That's what a HEREDITARY monarchy means. It is the absolute of nepotism. And being a shoddily written piece of emergency toilet paper, the logical question of "what would be the consequences of refusing or disobeying a direct command from the king" never really comes up, because it'd be pretty damn hard to argue these fucking guys aren't evil as sin when confronted with the logical answer to that

Sally isn't in charge because she's a good leader. She's in charge because she popped out of the right pussy. She didn't earn her station. And if she was forced to do so she wouldn't, because she's an absolutely abysmal leader and a pretty terrible person. She refuses to hear Sonic out when he says he was framed, and puts him on trial for TREASON with no leniency provided to his years of devoted friendship and dedicated service to their war effort. She FORCES Rotor to work AS A SLAVE after Robotnik dies and they take back the capital, rejecting his request to allow him to leave the castle and go find his family.

Her dad is somehow slightly better since he also throws the book at Sonic for committing treason but in his case there were at least a bunch of eye witnesses who thought they saw him actually murdering someone, and he still showed clemency in recognition of Sonic's service as a soldier by "only" sentencing him to life in prison in the gulag. And he's a raging racist who tried to start an ethnic genocide.

They're not exactly Aragorn-ing it up here. None of this is EVER questioned. The fact these LUNATIC TYRANTS are in charge is taken as a given, the natural order, the proper state of things that must be preserved. The story is so incompetently written that these conclusions aren't even meant to be drawn, we're meant to see the Acorns as noble and just rulers who's hearts are as noble as their titles. AND YET, a non-partial observation of their words and deeds can lead to no other conclusion than that they are MONSTERS who ABUSE the authority of their station to impose absolute subjugation over even their closest allies, enslaving a populace that is so conditioned to accepting this status quo that they can't even fathom an alternative.

The fact that SONIC THE FUCKING HEDGEHOG is a thoughtlessly devoted attack dog for these guillotine fodder is the biggest insult of the archie comics.

‘At the Tracks of the Mad’ is a fic centered around the bond of Rouge & Sonic. It strays a bit from the canon, but actually contains dozens elements of it. After the kidnap of their friends, Rouge and Sonic team up, in order to get them back from the mad scientist Dr. Robotnik. However to do so, they will have first to get the chaos emeralds. On their journey they meet dozens of different personalities, while learning things from each other. But in the end of the road can two characters with entire contradictive believes manage to work together? Meanwhile, Tails and Knuckles with Shadow and Omega try to get out of the madman's clutches as they work out their differences. It is easier said than that.

But what if all of them were more closer than what they'd originally thought?

‘A Duel for the Prince's Hand’ on the other hand is a fic centered around the ship Shadow x Sonic, giving though plenty of focus to found family and the role of friends as well. Shadow is the prince of Esperar, one of the five kingdoms that are located in Mobius, and his mother, Queen Sophia, decides that it is time for his hand to be asked in marriage. Soon dozens of princes, princesses and offsprings of other aristocratic families gather in the castle all willing to capture Shadow's heart. However, only one will make it into the last five participants, after a road full of mystery, betrayals and secrets that haunt the castle. Sonic under the disguise of Maurice, a noble young hedgehog from the Hedgehogs' House, will soon find himself entangled in all this mess. And to think that he only came to Esperar with his partners in order to get a chaos emerald.

Will both Shadow and Sonic in the end manage to work things out?

Unpopular Opinion Re: Sonic the Hedgehog

Out of every concept to come out of SatAM, I don’t think it’s the Freedom Fighters or even the “Freedom Fighters in a resistance movement against Robotnik, who rules the planet with robots and is enslaving all the animals” premise that would be the most valubale for the mainline games canon to emulate. That’d be Robotropolis.

In the mainline canon, Eggman has had no consistent main base of operations for years, with the most recurring one we get being some variation on the Egg-Carrier at the head of his Egg Fleet. I think this sucks ‘cause Eggman seems like a villain who deserves a real evil HQ as well, much like how Bowser has his castle in Koopa Kingdom along with his flying airship. Any iteration of Sonic that gives the good doctor his own Robotropolis really adds to his credibility as a villain and sells him as the No. 1 greatest enemy to Sonic and his friends. 

Basically, give us Robotropolis rather than Mehtropolis, SEGA!

Diamond Castle au- Maria, attendant of the Muse of History, Astronomy and Astrology + alt hairstyle

When Apollo made Shadow a god and saved Maria’s life, Maria asked if it was at all possible for her to stay by her brother’s side, the way he had done for her his entire life thus far. So she was made immortal as well and made the first of Shadow’s personal attendants

She still needed a cane to walk some days due to a tremble in her legs, but the ailment that was killing her was completely gone!

Her job was to assist Shadow in his duties, help him with any needs, and tend to the castle. It sounded simple enough but, Shadow being Shadow, he insisted that he needed no help with his new job which, in turn, made those first two parts of her job… difficult.

It was a constant (lighthearted) battle between the two where Maria would sometimes be able to wear Shadow down and the times where Shadow’s stubbornness would win out in the end

But on the bright side it did allow her a lot of spare time to explore and tend to the diamond castle, like in placing the newly formed diamond in the castle’s structure, taking care of the gardens, organising books in the library, etc.

She was even able to explore the mortal realm like she’d always wanted to!

This is the lore about my Hedgehog characters backstory. He was born in the world of Mobius which is the planet that Sonic and all the others are on another type of name for Earth. The world was filled with anthropomorphic characters as like the Sonic universe is but only one human Dr Robotnik AKA Eggman tries to take over the world.

But I don't want to go too far into that story even though this is mostly about my character. He was born in a kingdom as a prince the queen had magical power abilities of healing and other types. The king had powers as well but he preferred to do hand-to-hand combat mostly using swords bo staff and hand-to-hand combat. As years passed Sylo The Hedgehog grows up as his power abilities begin to come to him.

He can shoot power blasts out of his hands and the power of flight but the king only tells him to use those type of abilities at the most important moments but if it's anything that's very simple always use either a weapon or hand-to-hand combat. There was a warlock who came to the castle who decided to give silo a aging gift and aging ability where he cannot age over 22. The power doesn't make him Immortal it just stops him at the age of 22 he could still get hurt by knives guns anything dangerous to put in a way he has the same strength as Sonic. The king was a man of Honor and respect Sylo studied under the king and the Queen's combat abilities and powers.

The king had a meeting with King acorn Sally acorn's father across the seas Sylo would think it would be easier for him to fly so he can be there faster but he settles in on the ship. Sylo's father tells him to stay with King acorn for the next couple weeks. Then a sneak attack had happened on the palace as robots filled disguise surrounding the palace.

Sylo quickly takes Sally Acorn and any others to secret hidden entrance that will take them to a small village. Sylo stays behind to take care of any of the robots that were on their tails. Sylo stays in hiding for months as he flys back to his kingdom finding it swarmed with robotics robots. He comes in and destroys a few of them silently when he gets to the throne room finding both of his parents have been killed by the robots.

Years go by as Sylo joins the Freedom Fighters taking out eggman's factories as the fight becomes to an end where the Freedom Fighters are finally free from robots. Sylo explores more of the world coming across some ruins deep into a jungle he stands in the center of a big circle light glowing from underneath he gets in a fighting stance prepared for anything to happen.

A giant statue begins to talk and she says she's the Oracle of universes and different worlds. She tells the young Hedgehog that there's other Sonic universes and different worlds that need saving and he has been chosen to protect those other worlds. Sylo accepts this offer as a portal opens in front of him warping him to the next Sonic Universe. In the story he travels through the Sonic X Universe the sonic boom universe the Sonic Prime universe. In one these universes Sylo has fell in love with a female version of Tails they end up having twins.

The Oracle reached out to him again saying that there's more worlds that need protecting as he understood that he had to leave his family to continue on protecting these worlds. His wife Tails understood and so did his kids he promised that he will see them again. Sylo has not just fallen in love with his wife tails but in other universes has had feelings for Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and Silver. He had a lot of love for all of them and he would always protect them no matter what universe is he's traveled through.

As many years go by the oracle's time comes to an end as she gives the powers to travel through multiple universes and worlds to Sylo as he now has the responsibility of protecting all these universes. But there are times he travels to Worlds that were completed where everyone is happy and that always keeps him going.

Muitos fãs apreciam vilões que têm um backstory dramático, motivações complexas e significado profundo por trás das vilanias. Em resumo, há vilões que são tão simpáticos e identificáveis ao ponto de que eles merecem um arco de redenção. 1 - Shadow the Hedgehog

Em 2001, Sonic Adventure 2 apresentou um ouriço antagonista que contrastava com os ideais heroísticos impostos por Sonic. Segundo Shadow, humanos eram vermes imprestáveis que estavam levando o mundo à ruína, e parte deles foi responsável pela morte da companheira humana dele, Maria Robotnik, a neta de um notável cientista, Gerald Robotnik. Dominado pelo furor, Shadow estava bem inclinado em extinguir a humanidade, no entanto, Amy Rose, com o poder persuasivo dela, conseguiu convencer Shadow a lutar para erradicar a verdadeira ameaça: Biolizard. 2 - Sagat - Street Fighter

Em débito com Sonic, Knuckles se torna aliado do ouriço azul em aventuras posteriores. Proto Man - Mega Man Series

Eggman : This tournament that I'd like to call it, the EX World Grand Prix! The tournament consists of five racing locations such as Metal City, Splash Canyon, Egg Factory, Green Cave, and even the desert...Sand Ruins! And these races are no-holds-barred!

Nozomi : Sand Ruins. Where did he heard that place before?

Eggman : And with all particpants are in the race, the entry fee will cost the amount of one Chaos Emerald, and the winner will receive their prize that takes it all! So...Let's see who are among those that dares to meet this challenge?

Metal Sonic : There's no way Eggman Nega would want to turn our world upside after his failed attempt during the Black Arms Invasion. What will the fate of our world when he turns this entire planet into a card or someone's world be the galaxy itself? I have to make sure, that everything will be in order.

Eggman Nega : *chuckles* This is quite the entertaining of watching this world suffer from it's ashes. Or perhaps, I will use the power of the stars to watch burn this world into chaos or even...wake up the Ifrit by myself. *sinister laugh*
