as the voice of silver in the fandubs I can't help but feel partially responsible for the characterization of silver in fandom as a sad lil' uwu bean, so I'd like to clarify that I didn't play him like that because that's how I saw the character, personally I've always seen him as an awkward teenager trying to do the right thing but self-conscious about what that thing might be overall, with a bit more edge and determination to the 06 silver specifically.

I don't think there's anything terrible about having readings of characters that might not be entirely accurate, since art is generally half intent and half interpretation, but as a fan of Silver one of my favorite things about him is his boundless determination to keep trying to make things better, and so I fully understand how frustrating it can be to see a lack of appreciation for those parts of him in favor of a simplified softboy.

No shame to the people who do see him that way, people can enjoy media however they want as long as it isn't hurting anybody, but if my performance as Silver played a part in that then I do think you should know that I wasn't trying to make an accurate depiction of the character as I saw him, I was just portraying a character that I felt would play well comedically with both the established characters from earlier dubs and with what I knew would happen in the 06 cutscenes (like when Silver gets kicked in the head), and it might be better to interpret that Silver as a separate character from the ones in the games/comics.

A BOY HAS BEEN ACQUIRED

So I had to drive 45 minutes to get to this mall, bc the one closer to me didn't have Shadow in today. I drove there after work and went inside to find that, indeed, the children's store was filled with children. Most of them were getting Blueys. They didn't have Shadow and Sonic out on display, but when I asked the desk they swiftly produced one for me. A man standing in front of me in line was also getting a Shadow. He and the bear-stuffer and I had a long fun conversation about Sonic 3 and how we're all going in costume and all that.

So, it came time to record the sound. I asked if it was okay if I played a sound on my phone. The employee said, "Yes, if it's appropriate." I laughed and asked if they've already had issues with people trying to put certain lines into their Shadow. She then informed me that they have a blanket ban on Snapcube audio because people keep trying to play all the cuss words in the middle of the children's store.

So I selected the "Faker" Thai McGrath audio and played it for the mic. It did not pick up. I tried again. It did not pick up. My theory is that it's too used to filtering out background music. The employee told me that she had an alternate voice recording device, BUT it could only record 10 seconds as opposed to the normal 20.

Unfortunately for "Faker," I only had a decent selection for a 20-second time limit. However, I DID have an option in my poll that 1) was less than 10 seconds, and 2) had no swear words. So I asked her, "Can I use a Snapcube quote if it has no swear words?"

She immediately said yes and so now my quest is complete, my beautiful boy has one of my favorite lines, and also he smells like lavender.
