I love how the lyrics perfectly encapsulates the guilt that Caitlyn feels here. She had the shot, like she told her father. But she hesitated and for that she closed a door for good. Also making this great parallel when she sees the casket being closed:

This ads so much to the further development of her going down a path she shouldn't out of grief and guilt. She had the shot. I feel like this ruminates in her head. Vi asked her not to shoot. But the cost was losing her mother. Closing a door forever and throwing her in immense grief but especially guilt. Caitlyn felt directly responsible for the loss of Cassandra.

And the second time she supposedly had the shot Vi stopped her again, within all reason. But it only made her go deeper in her quest for vengeance against Jinx. Wich makes the fact of letting Jinx go even more powerful. It's Caitlyn closing another door, one of the cycle of violence and hate. And again, she does it for Vi, because she needs to choose to pursuit love or hate. And she chooses Vi.

Jason storms off in search of the culprit, leaving Dick staring after him wondering what he's on about.
