Is “Faded” by Suki Waterhouse about Miles Kane? They dated from 2011 to 2013. Some lyrics remind me of Miles.
“You used to call me Yoko/Cause I made a joke that all your friends were leaving/And I’m your lover.” Does this refer to Alex and the rest of Arctic Monkeys moving to LA, while Miles stayed in London?
“We were gonna stay together/And you could never go and date teenagers.” Suki was 19 and Miles was 25 when they started dating.
“You never should’ve changed your ways and faded/The colors you painted were perfectly simple/I know you used to hate it when I’d say that/All of these days that, that we remember/Faded away.” Suki is telling Miles that he never should’ve tried to fit in/be a certain way when he was already perfect. Miles used to hate when she said it, but she really meant it. Since so much time has passed, the memories are fading away.
“Ever heard a northerner say naughty?” Miles Kane is from Birkenhead, a town in Northern England. This line can’t be referring to Bradley Cooper, an American, nor to Robert Pattinson, a native of London.
“I was still in primary school when people thought your band was cool.” Miles’ band The Little Flames was created when Suki was about 12 years old.
Do you think “Faded” is about Miles Kane?

Theorist Falls, North Carolina 5:37pm
Some strange book has been spotted near the woods of the Curiosity Shack. Its appearance is similar to that of flowing ink, with some sort of zodiac scrawled on the ground underneath. We've logged the book into private records for now. Until we check the contents inside, that book won't see the light of day. This zodiac, however, appears to be harmless and will be shared freely in the hopes that someone who recognizes the symbols will be willing to cooperate with our studies.

INCOMING BOYGENIUS THEORY
so we all know cool about it. Ruined my life. I digress. So my theory begins with their three individual verses and how incredibly similar their word choices and metaphors are (as well as melodies and lyrics) to THEMSELVES
Juliens verse for example: dive bars, cowboys, tattoos, words like "fool" and "cruel" that are more commonly used in the south or more rural states. Her verse is so incredibly *her* that its ALMOST as if she's talking about herself.... wink wink
Lucys verse: very articulate word choices (which is common amongst her solo career music) as well as more deeply rooted, uncommonly used, unique, personalized metaphors and ways of phrasing her words as if she were DESCRIBING HERSELF. She writes most of her stuff in this manner. "I came prepared for absolution, if youd only ask" is one of my favorite lines ever and it beautifully represents lucys songwriting ability and style, and this style is very much HER... again... almost like shes talking about herself...... hhhmmmm
Phoebes verse is very closely related to her solo career music as well. Her metaphors, like lucy, are deeply rooted but not as analytical as lucy's. You dont need a whole lot of brain power and understanding to really know what she's trying to say. "I can walk you home and practice method acting, ill pretend being with you doesnt feel like drowning" is a verh good example of phoebe's writing. She uses "method acting" as a metaphor and then not even like two seconds later uses "ill pretend", which is obviously just telling the listener that she's faking emotion for the sake of the other person's feelings while KNOWING its hurting her inside.
And throwback to a theory i read a while ago on tiktok, god bless the person who came up with this, i do not remember your name;
This song could very well be about their individual coping methods and how they deal with things like breakups, depression and especially the feeling of losing someone. And although this song is applicable to a lot of scenarios, this song could be about themselves!!!!!!! Their coping mechanisms!!!!
- verse one, reminiscing, nostalgic, more of a bittersweet feeling is described in juliens verse.
- verse two, preparing for absolution (release from guilt, obligation or punishment; this definition is from google) but not getting it, preparing to let go but never letting go, lingering on the feeling until it consumes you!!!!!! Helllooooo!!!!!
- verse three, knowing this person is hurting you, lack of communication and a silent understanding of "we know that we should talk about this but we both know we never will" is ttttHHHORRRROUGHLY portrayed and explained.
Just HEAR ME OUT GUYS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG OMG NEW TOP SONG OUT!!
I feel like the adidas track jacket line feels very out of place and kinda takes me out of it BUT having said that, I LOVE the new song. And the track jacket line DOES kinda bring in an element of realities being connected which i feel we haven’t seen very much of. ALSO i have a theory about the red!! So they wore yellow during trench because the bishops can’t see yellow so they highlighted what was important with yellow to hide. But the bishops CAN see red so why red? I believe that they’re now wearing red to MAKE SURE the bishops see them. They are DONE running. DONE hiding and they want everyone to know, especially the bishops. And the scene where they are mimicing what tyler is doing (corazon part) is showing that not only are they done hiding they’re also now teaching others how to rebel and break out from their oppression. AHH I CANT WAIT FOR THE FULL ALBUM AHHHH

was just listening to tbhc from start to finish after quite a while and i just realized how distinct the ultracheese is from the rest of the album. like starting from the first notes of star treatment right down to batphone there is a very tightly constructed soundscape which flows so smoothly that the songs feel more like chapters in a continuous story than individual entities. but then come the ultracheese and boom!- it's more soul and traditional pop adjacent than funky experimental jazz, more direct and introspective than weird and surreal, it's more heartfelt confession than sardonic observations. like the song's instrumentation is so different to the others, the drums and piano and the interlude before the last verse. there's hints of a melody and alex's vocal delivery is so different too.
in a way the ultracheese ties so well to there'd better be a mirrorball and what is going on in the car, even though it perhaps wasn't envisioned as such in the beginning.
(also like not to be too delusional or whatever but the ultracheese is aesthetically really similar to the dream synopsis aviation ep version i just had to put it out there)

I've been going through random playlists, looking for random Halloween Songs, only to get hit by the nostalgia of The Living Tombstone's "Yumbo Bear" song they made for Halloween.
Y'all I wanna make a theory on that song for funsies and Halloween Spirit but I don't know how many people on Tumblr know about that song.
Fun fact, Yumbo Bear was based off of an older song by the same name, by Yechiel Mohar. The original was supposed to be a song for kids.

You know- Looking at Mesmerizer (32Ki), I've begun to start thinking about the theories regarding it.
GIGANTIC TRIGGER WARNING FOR DEPRESSION AND S__C_DE
I know. I'm- what? Months late to this party? Lol
My favorite theory about the song is one I saw that referred to the "shrinking safety zone" as happiness in life, the fake flowers dressed in "honesty" being little comforts to you from yourself or from others, and the pounding heart and vulnerability (Miku) / fading durability and cries for help of all kinds (Teto) leading to one verdict.
Depression. (Or possibly BPD but I ammmmmm *not* equipped to discuss that in any format at this time.)
I absolutely adore this theory, not only because it's the one that's most plausible to me, but also the theory that I can understand the most.
Teto using all these different symbols in the hopes that someone will notice her pain, but only ever crying out verbally once, after which she is almost hypnotized, which appears to be the thing she *doesn't* want. Her obvious cry is met with a negative reaction, so she returns to her subtler signs, hoping that one of the languages is seen and not just noticed. All for that effort to be for nothing in the end when she is left "hypnotized" as well.
Meanwhile, Miku falling victim to this "hypnosis" and repeating her lines from the chorus, continuing her choreography when it's Teto's turn and moving like a puppet or a corpse. Her tongue hangs out of her mouth. her eyes are dead, and her neck thin and fragile. Like she f@cking hung herself.
To me, it kinda feels like the everyday, "bot-like cycle" of feeling horrible but consistently acting like everything is fine. Pressing down, pressing down, and repressing everything until suddenly that little tridecagram starts to look more and more appealing.
To my knowledge, this star represents immortality (please correct me if I'm mistaken), but in this case, I think that, while immortality fits, in reference to the afterlife and not immortality as a solo concept. And how does one get to the afterlife? By dying.
This star (to me) represents s_!c!de. Sitting there in the center of the screen for almost 2/3 of the song while *neither* singer mentions or even looks at it. But in a way, it always seems to be there, whether in that spot, or hidden at the edges of the screen, or even covering up all the subliminal messages at the beginning and on those intense percussive spots throughout the song. It's the unspoken elephant in the room.
All while this upbeat, happy song plays with confetti and flowers and dancing clouds. This walking contradiction of a song is *horrifying*, and by the gods do I know exactly what it feels like. This may not be a nostalgic classic like Love is War (Viva la Teto's Crusher Ver.) or Double Lariat or even Tokyo Teddy Bear, but in my mind, it sits on the same shelves and playlists for that exact reason. That it *fits* in that spot in my mind.
P.S. Is no one gonna talk about how that beat drop in the final chorus sounds like a gunshot?

do you think “jet skis on the moat” and “body paint” are about miles? or just “jet skis…”?
Heyyy
Oh my goodness. I'm so so sorry for how late I'm responding to this! I remember leaving it aside because I knew I could sit down and write a whole big answer, but then it kind of escaped my mind. But I'm here now! And will make up for it with probably another novel-length answer 🙈
Disclaimers are always: this is for fun. This is one of a million possible interpretations and even I have a lot of those in my head but just choose the 'loudest' one to share. (Sometimes I'll publish an analysis and then have a million new ideas about the song one day when listening to it. Nothing is fixed). This is based a lot on "vibes" cause it's so hard to understand the The Car songs, man.
Okay - so firstly, like I always say with The Car - I do believe that album is first and foremost extremely introspective. And Alex likes to say or suggest in interviews that there isn't too much straight up references to his actual life in there... Now I don't completely believe that? He just definitely doesn't want to talk about them (as usual).
What I see in there is a jumble of emotions and feelings and self-reflection - perhaps done in a less straightforward way than he would do previously. Maybe he did it more instinctively? But there's a strong feeling it is there.
So I do think most songs are just... about Alex's inner workings and feelings (also perhaps why it seems more abstract?) - but do some of those have the potential to refer to a very important and seemingly complicated, undefined relationship in his life? I do believe so.
Body Paint - I've tried looking at from different perspectives. And I'm not sure I found enough to connect it to Miles.
Although - there's a mysterious little detail that I've been overthinking for a while - which is this recurring theme of paint in a few songs. This is probably a prime example of my useless overthinking (and Alex would probably laugh about these sorts of connections being made) - but have you ever noticed:
There's still a trace of body paint On your legs and on your arms and on your face
Exactly the wrong time in exactly the wrong place. Save it for a rainy day. Baby, you go hard in the paint
Or are you just happy to sit there and watch while the paint job dries?
(Body Paint // Anyways // Jet Skis on the Moat)
So like do Jet Skis connect somehow with Body Paint (and Anyways) in themes? 👀
Who knows. But that's just a side observation 😅
Now Jet Skis - Jet Skis being connected to Miles possibly maybe I can see a bit more. With lyrics like:
Come over here and give your buddy a hug
So much for deciding not to let it slide
Because? You know our Milex brains work on overdrive hearing stuff like that. Can it be about anything? Yep. Does it bring to mind a certain someone whose been this man's favorite hug buddy? Also yup. Now extrawild theory territory:
"Deciding not to let it slide" kind of makes me think of how perhaps they've maybe established some new boundaries after crossing a bit too many. Like perhaps one of them went and "killed the joke" they had going in (👀) and after that some boundaries were set. Not letting more-than-friendly things happen. Not letting shit like that slide anymore... Until the next time (so much for that resolution!)
Lights out in the Wonder Park
Your saw-toothed lover boy was quick off the mark
That's long enough in the sunshine for one night
To me lights out in the wonder park is a sad image of something gone by. A wondrous place (jeez. Reference not even intended here) full of fun and joy - but the lights need to go off at some point. It's not real life; it's somewhere you can only go for so long before returning to reality.
Saw-toothed lover boy was probably what grabbed a bunch of people's attention? Miles' crooked, endearing smile (before he straightened his teeth) was something he was known for. And something Alex commented on himself I do believe a few times. (I also do know saw-toothed isn't crooked-toothed. It just sort of evokes that image to me?)
Long enough in the sunshine for one night - to me brings to mind the image of someone being given the full attention they want/deserve. But for some reason can't entirely own. (I can be yours tonight, but not tomorrow type of vibes. That's all we can have - then it's back to "real life". Lights out in the wonder park)
I don't know about the pajama pants and Subbuteo cloke. It for sure evokes childhood imagery. So maybe refers to some specific childhood story? Maybe it's about Alex. Maybe someone told him that they did that in their childhood for fun. Who knows.
And then come the super sad parts?
You know that it's alright if you wanna cry
is obviously so sad even if I can't place it anywhere specific context-wise. (Also seems to evoke Body Paint a bit with "Do your time traveling through the tanning booth So you don't let the sun catch you crying" and "I'm watching your every move I feel the tears are coming on")
And then:
Is there somethin' on your mind
Or are you just happy to sit there and watch
While the paint job dries?
When it's over, you're supposed to know
Okay - so what if paint is some specific metaphor? I haven't found a good enough theory for what that could be (would love to hear your thoughts if you agree and have ideas!) (though... i mean in Body Paint itself there's some interesting theories 👀 not sure it works with the rest though). And now... Watching it dry signifies the end or hibernation of something. But then "when it's over you're supposed to know" - kind of suggests like that ending isn't something that the person it refers to is ready to accept. It still seems like an open possibility. Like one side is still hoping.
As though it's the last time you're gonna ride
Is also sad - suggests something seeming like it's ending. It's the last time. But then there's that "as though". Like an open possibility, hope of it not really being true.
But damn; this is a big mess! Because The Car songs are so hard to analyze, they're so abstract. I can definitely see what Alex has been saying about focusing more on the melody and the emotions it evokes and lyrics kind of being an extension of that. Taking a backseat for a second (hehe. Car pun. Not even intended).
It would seem the album that's set on the actual moon would be as mixed up and tough to decipher as if gets but nope! Alex took up the challenge of cranking it up a notch. Because of course he did.
Anyway. I hope any of this makes sense and/or resonates with someone and their thoughts about this song 💛
Thank you for the question, sorry for the delay!
Sending good energy your way! 💫

[TW FOR DISCUSSIONS OF: POOR MENTAL HEALTH, PERFECTIONISM (a little bit), SELF HARM AND SUICIDE]. My Theory on 'Namida" by Maretu.
I view the song as a commentary/cautionary tale about sacrificing your own mental health just to make others happy, to the point of depression.
In the lyrics, it talks about a boy/girl, the person the song seems to be talking about, sacrificing his/her own mental health over and over to his/her friends, who have poor mental health, to make them feel happy and better and not angry at her. (I.E., "You had one last bit of pure sincerity left, but you couldn't protect it, and you abandoned it." "You had just one pure wish, but you couldn't protect it, and it was stolen from you.".
I think in the part I just showed, it's the boy/girl beating himself/herself up for being upset from hearing his/her friend's trauma and being upset with it because he's/she's supposed to be their comfort.
Anyways, he/she eventually becomes so obsessed with helping others and overall just being a good person in general that he/she actually starts to take care of himself/herself less, and both her physical and mental health start to degrade at a slow but concerning pace, but again, she feels guilty for not helping out her friends every day, and she beats herself up for it once more. (The text in italics) (I.E., "Are you just going to take that cold body straight to death?" "The flowing blood and tears, tears, dye you darker and darker.")
Also, I think the lyric "The flowing blood and tears, tears, dye you darker and darker." could be referring to or indicating to him/her developing dark circles around his/her eyes, caused by fatigue, which is a common symptom of depression, and also due to him/her staying up very late to try to comfort his/her friends as much as he/she can, even though he/she can't seem to stay awake much longer.
The boy/girl starts to consider staying away from his/her friends for a while, and he/she starts convincing himself/herself that his/her friends are actually maybe not good for his/her mental health, but he/she soon starts to feel guilty about not helping and goes back to his/her friends once more to help them. (I.E. "Don't you know? They only laugh and steal all the treasure. Their bodies, fat and swollen, are left miserably exposed forever."
I also think the lyric I just showed could be the boy/girl saying to himself/herself that maybe this isn't healthy, but soon after, he/she starts to think of all the much worse stuff they're going through than him/her.
Multiple times before the chorus, she says that she will "strike down the enemy" (i.e., "We will strike down the enemy!"), and at one point, it's even in red text later in the song. (pictured).
Tumblr media
The first time he/she says that he/she will "strike down the enemy", it was just kind of a weak promise and he/she didn't really "try" to commit to it. But the second time, aka, the one where it has the red text, it could be him/her showing his/her frustration of having to be her peers personal therapist every single day, but she's too afraid to show it in fear that her peers might leave her.
The girl slowly but surely gets more and more depressed and angry from all this, knowing that she simply can't do anything but stay shut about it, every single day, and the only reason she doesn't say anything is because her peers let her vent as well, but with her peers much more serious issues, the girl feels like her issues are just nothing compared to her peers. (I.E. "The days and months, that pass can't heal you.")
When her peers vent, she gets upset, knowing that she can't exactly do much, but just give the same advice over and over again, but again, she pretends to be unphased by this, again, due to fear that her peers might leave her, despite her rage slowly boiling over. (I.E. "Don't get in my way, tears! Tears! You burn red, red. Slash down your blades, your blades.")
Also, he/she says "slash down your blades" in each chorus the song, probably her thoughts turning more and more violent as her peers vent to her more and more each day, and her wanting to straight up tell them "If your life is so horrible, just k!ll yourself!" or something like that, but of course, she simply can't, because he's/she's meant to be their friend open to them.
At near the end of the song, she finally realizes about what's going on, and the girl realizes that what she has been doing isn't healthy. (I.E. "Your thoughts awaken now.")
However, in the final bit of the song, he/she finds out his/her friends have already ended it, before he/she could set boundaries. He/She tries to convince himself/herself that they didn't actually end it out of guilt, but, it doesn't work, thus resulting him/her snapping, despite the very thing making her mental and physical health degrade finally going away, and he/she takes his/her own life in guilt and regret, from a feeling from not doing anything earlier. (I.E. "It hasn't ended yet, has it? Your life!").

"I'm beautiful, I know cause it's the season But what am I to do with all this beauty? Biology, I am an organism, I'm chemical That's all, that is all"
Mitski knows that she is beautiful yet she doesnt know what to do with it. She is human like everyone else. She thinks that her beauty is useless because she cant do anything with her beauty.
"I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too And feel my skin is plump and full of life I'm in my prime I'm liquid smooth, come touch me, too I'm at my highest peak, I'm ripe About to fall, capture me"
Mitski thinks that her beauty is only useful for sex and validation from others. She is in her prime. She uses a fruit (apple) to describe her yourh, You cant always stay youthful and pretty so she is trying to make the most out of it. She knows that after she passes her prime, she wont be useful for anything. The more she ages, the less beauty she possesses.
"Or at least take my picture Kuzurete yuku maeni I'm pulsing, my blood is red and unafraid of living Beginning to end"
This i dont really know but taking my best guess, is about trying to capture the last bits of her youth and she knows her youthfulness and beauty is "beginning to end".
"How I feel this river rushing through my veins With nowhere else to go, it circles ’round"
The river is her blood. The more her blood "rushes" The more she ages as this is a sign of life. You age as you live. Shes scared of losing her beauty because it determines her self worth.
to sum it all up, Mitski seeks validation from others using her beauty while she can because she knows she will lose it soon. She thinks of beauty as a tool and without it, she is nothing. This can also be about society's high standards for women. When you arent "pretty" you are useless
