Imagine, if you will, you have been hiking. Regardless of your disability that gave you problems walking, hiking was an activity you loved doing.
Sadly, one day, that disability does not help.
You trip and fumble, rolling down a hill. Thankfully, you haven't broken anything, but you have lost your backpack that had the means to contact others to help you. Your phone broke, but even if it hadn't broken, you wouldn't have any signal.
Lying there in pain because of the many injuries you've sustained - as minor as they might be, they're still painful - you just see a shadow looming above you.
When you wake up next, you're in a cabin in the middle of the woods. The owner and sole person living in it is what can only be described as a lumberjack. Big man with thick arms and even thicker and strong voice that was a lot gentler than you'd expect from a man of his size. He helped you, he took you from where you were and brought you to his home - Here you have been for three days until now. He lives away from proper civilization, and although he has an emergency kit, he doesn't really use it, and some things have expired already. He can't exactly leave you here because it would take him days to get to the closest town, and you can't possible be by yourself for so long in the state you're in!
So he stayed.
As he lives alone and you're taking his only bed, he sleeps on the ground. At first, you felt really guilty about it - it is his house, so he should sleep on the bed! - but he keeps insisting that this wasn't the first time he slept on the ground and probably won't be the last. Still, you insist that at least you share, right? But it is awkward to share the bed with a stranger. So, why not become friends? That way the awkwardness will fade away... right?
You learn a few things about him. Very important things indeed.
He loves star fruits. His favorite color is green. He is an avid reader of what he explained to you to be scientific texts about soil and rocks (he went on and on about the differences between various types of rocks). He has taken to the art of woodcarving. And he also loves bears! He has made various small hand sized little bear statues that he has all around his house.
Talking about his house, although you have been mostly confined to the bedroom, you have seen a bit of it, mainly the kitchen. After a week of living together, you can finally move your body without too much pain or strain on your muscles, but walking still eludes you, cane or no cane. It is too painful. Maybe you tore something? Regardless, he sets you down on a chair he most likely makes himself and talks about whatever he wants as he makes dinner, and he is a good cook! He lives alone, so he has to be... Or make food good enough to eat.
He loves soups, too. "They're easy to make, hut hard to truly master." Is what he said when you asked about it... and it kinda makes sense.
One week turns into two, and you're starting to move around a little more, and that's when he takes you outside. It was cold, very cold, and that is when you find out he lives on top of a mountain. Without windows in his house ("I don't like them for... personal reasons."), you didn't really know you were higher up, but it was a beautiful, beautiful place... Miles and miles of forest as far as the eyes could see - and you could see your original trail too. It was two or so miles away and a steep drop down, too.
He sat you down by the porch and you two just watched the horizon as the sun set down before going back inside... it felt weirdly romantic.
Maybe that was when things started.
You began to help him with cooking - just small things. "Let me cut the potatoes for you." Oh yeah, he grew them and a bunch of other things too. He likes gardening, too... "Let me help you with that!" Or a good ol' "You look like you need some help."
And soft touches when reaching out for the same thing became more natural. Touches become more natural. Sleeping on the same bed becomes natural. Cuddling becomes more natural. And that was when you noticed it - He was gruff with it. He just told you: "I turn into a big bear sometimes." Like was the most common and perfectly normal thing for a big guy like him to do!
"Uhm, like, regularly?"
"Whenever I want to."
"...can I see that?"
And he shows you. He is big. He is brown. He is fluffy.
Secrelty, he is also extremely happy that you didn't freak out and tried to run away. He is even happier when you literally cuddle the fuck out od him.
But time, as always, moves on.
You were well enough to return to civilization. And he knew that, so he told you that the next morning, he would bring you to the nearest town. As a last farewell, he made a campfire, and you both sat together and watched as thunder rumbled above your heads. The dark clouds rolling in as rain would soon fall - and that is when he pulls out a simple guitar.
"...can I sing you something?" He asks, nervous. "I don't make any promises about the quality. It will probably suck."
"I would love to hear it." You say.
And he sings -
youtube
And when he finishes, you can't help it.
You don't wanna leave.
That night, you both did kiss, like real people do.

What about some Lawrence headcanons? I'd love to hear if you have any ))
Yay! My first ask💕 Sorry if these are scattered or short or all over the place, I got excited and did this at work lol
Oh, dear, sweet Lawrence... I'll never stop being salty that he cold clocked me outside of the bar lmao I panic on quick time events. Caught me on my back foot lol
°King of always having bruises and not knowing where they came from. Was it from work? Is it just his fucked up body? Was it you? He couldn't have bumped his desk that hard, surely? But any day, any time- there's a few random bruises all the time of varying shapes, sizes, and color.
°While Lawrence hates going out due to his sociophobia, I could see him really liking botanical gardens. He definitely has learned what times are the least crowded or shit...after a while, might even just break in when they're closed. It's quiet, it's serene. Lawrence can take some of the plants home, precisely pruning carefully to propagate if he finds himself fond of them. In the same vein, I wouldn't put it past him to also slip some fucked chemicals to kill other plants or prune some to the point of withering should be feel so inclined.
°He likes collecting bones and rocks, could see Lawrence passing time by making shadow box art with the bones he collects. Rot is a part of death, it's the natural cycle, it's beautiful- it deserves to be celebrated to.
°Lawrence prefers honey to maple syrup. Given he's a tea guy, he's got a variety of different honeys, different flavors. He's not a charitable guy but he's gotten quite a few "save the bees" stickers with purchases and maybe got so high he donated a couple of bucks to some random bee conservation cause. Lawrence has no recollection of this.
°Roadkill Scrapbook. Idk, Lawrence strikes me as the guy who early on and before he got into what he got into and even had a real grasp on it- was really into just staring at and studying roadkill. And one thing lead to another where Lawrence photographs it for keeps. Dates them and adds notes as he seems fit
°When alone, prefers to masturbate in the shower. For efficiency, but really, it's to feel warm. Idk I feel Lawrence's body runs cold and given some of his... proclivities- it's a pleasant change up. Until you come around. Low key I could see this feeding into a bit of a temperature play or kink once he gets a taste.
°Works in a warehouse? Forklift certified. (I'm sorry I couldn't resist)
°Smokes more than he drinks but despite the bar scene, Lawrence likes Gin. Simple gin and tonics but I think he'd like a negroni if he ever went to a place that served them. For smoking tho? If he is going out or has something arduous to do, whatever- he does dab. It isn't so much that he likes it better or prefers it- it just gets the job done better, harder.
°Loves asphyxiation. On himself, on you. You're a bit more delicate though. Not that the science matters too terribly to him. Owns one very sturdy belt that's creased in a specific areas.
°Big fan of somnophilia. I don't need to elaborate.

How do you do your Final Fantasy edits?
The hard way, my friend. No AI is used here, I do it all by hand. 🥰 I assume you mean the screenshot manipulations I create? I'll try and give a simple summary... First, I boot up Remake on PC and use a "free camera" mod(you can find the links to the mods I use on my archive pages for manipulations, which is on my pinned post) to take a couple screenshots that I think will work well together. Sometimes I change my mind and choose a different one. It can be hard to match the camera angles and lighting, so sometimes I have to mess with that later, as well. But it's easier if they fit together from the beginning. We'll take my current WIP as an example. I started with these two screenshots:
I open them in the free program GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), which anyone can download at gimp.org. Then the first thing I do is choose the base image. In this case, they're both facing the same way, so I choose to flip Sephiroth(you can't really do that with Cloud easily because of his earring, and his hair is less symmetrical). Since the camera was closer up on Cloud, and he's the smaller one, I usually choose Sephiroth's to be the base image. With that decided, I roughly cut Cloud from his background and paste him onto Sephiroth's image as a new layer. Then I position him, resize him, rotate him, whatever I need to do until he seems to be in the desired place, which ends up looking like this: (I ended up adding snow for this preview, so it would look more complete than it is when I showed it to my server, haha)
If you look at Cloud, you can still see a thick outline of his old background around his head. Once he's positioned properly, it's time to remove the rest of his background(I use a size 10 eraser with 100% hardness and zoom in about 5 times). Then I need to think about where they're connected, and how to make them look like they're touching, as well as layering to make them seem intertwined, as if they're truly occupying the same space together.
I cut away some of Cloud's shirt, and the rest of that effect will come with shading later. If I wanted Cloud even closer, I would make a duplicate of Sephiroth and erase his background, so that his lock of hair would appear to go over Cloud's face. I could also make it semi-transparent, so you could see the outline of Cloud's face through his hair. You can see I have some small game defects to fix, such as Cloud's hair clipping through his ear. I leave those tiny details for later, typically. Sometimes, because of their height differences, I have to "rebuild" missing parts of them from scratch, such as I did for this other manipulation:
It's a delicate process that's mostly the clone tool(to keep the textures) and some freehand drawing, but I don't have an art tablet, so I use my mouse for everything, which can be quite challenging. I've had a lot of practice from translating doujinshi, where I'd erase the words, rebuild the missing part of the image, and then place the translated words over that spot.
In any case, I decided I wanted more out of this manipulation than just leaning against each other. I wanted Cloud to be reaching up towards Sephiroth, and perhaps for Sephiroth to be pulling him closer. To do that, I needed pictures of their hands/arms like so:
I've taken hundreds of shots, so I looked through what I had first, but it wasn't the right angle, or was the wrong outfit for Cloud, so...then you open up those images and cut out the parts you want. After that, you work on positioning and things like that again. I haven't finished with that part yet, so it looks a little awkward. (And when you're doing these kinds of things, color matching is very important, but that's a bit advanced.)
I'm not fully satisfied yet, so I'll probably remove the rest of the background from the arms and then mess with the placement. As for Sephiroth's hand, I intend to thread it in Cloud's hair, so Cloud will need to be duplicated in order to create that layering effect, as mentioned previously. Which should end up looking similar to this one:
(I had to draw in most of Cloud's hand because I didn't have the camera mod back then, and the Sephiroth shot was provided to me by Coeurlwhiskers.) After that, it's a matter of shadows and highlights, remaining details, and finishing up the colors, etc. It's a long and difficult process, and can take many hours to complete, depending on how ambitious I get with it. Most of that stuff would be a much longer tutorial, and I did used to do some actual artwork a long time ago, so I...kind of know what I'm doing?? I probably do a lot of stuff the hard way(like not using layer masks) because I just don't have the time to teach myself more than the basics. 😅I know it may seem daunting, but it's really fun! I hope I managed to answer your question properly. Feel free to ask follow ups~

I haven't posted art in some time, but here, have some of my D&D ocs interacting with the dungeon meshi party, because it's fun! I drew them with the ones i feel like they're the most similar to either physically or personality-wise. I doubt many people will see, but i'd love to see more people doing this. Here we go!! :}
Marcille and Anne (she/her). She's an elf cleric and also my first character ever! So there isn't much to say about her. I feel like she's just this calm presence, Marcille could have some of that comfort every now and then. They'd definetly bond over hair care and magic, despite working in different fields. In a way, I feel like Marcille would find Anne similar to Falin, or like an older and wiser version of her. Anne could also give some advice on the whole "being scared of death thing", having a short-lived partner and all.
Chilchuck and Heron (he/him), tiny dads! Heron is (obviously) a halfling, but for his class he's actually a homebrew pirate! I think they have plenty of stuff in common to talk about, both of them are often made fun of by their parties for their size, which is fun. They're also both dads, only Chilchuck has 3 girls (4 if you count Izutsumi) and Heron has 4 boys, maybe they'd argue over what's better, idk. Chilchuck is grumpier, but i feel like both have that "Oh my god what are you doing!? Are you an idiot?" attitude when the party does their shenanigans. These two would be good friends, maybe Chil is a bit envious of Heron's stable family though
Laios and Deliz (he/him). Deliz is the character i've been playing the longest, he's a kalashtar sorcerer (with some druid levels). I think it's not hard to tell that they'd bond over hyperfixations. I doubt Laios would be able to answer Deliz's questions, but there's plenty of cool monster stuff to talk about! I wonder what Laios would think about all the weird creatures that possess and infect people in this other world. These two would be great friends, no judgement about "weird" behaviors, just vibes. I also feel like Laios would be super interested in what a "kalashtar" even is, or how powerful Deliz is compared to most adventurers he knows, despite him being so young (21).
Izutsumi and Spark (she/her). The cat girls! Spark is a tabaxi sorcerer that is also a literal child, so I feel like Izustumi would be done with her shit really fast lmao. Kind of like, when a child wants to impress a teenager, but they keep annoying them? Exactly that. Doesn't help that Spark is pretty energetic too. At one point or another though, they'd grow on each other. Izutsumi would never admit it though
Senshi and Lilium (she/they). Not much in common between these two, Lilium is a tiefling druid and Senshi is like, a fighter(?) dwarf, buut they'd get along really well. I feel like senshi would be the calm and nurturing figure this anxious little lesbian needs. She's been through a lot and needs a place to rest every now and then, and maybe drinking a cup of tea with some warm food is the right choice after some adventuring, right? (Also can you tell i didn't wanna draw Senshi's helmet? ITS SO HARD TO DO SIDEWAYS AND I DIDNT FIND ANY REFERENCES)
And a little bonus:
(Azzazel (they/any) is my friends character, they'd spark a whole other convo w/ Laios tbh)

Hey, I was wondering if you have a brush recommendation for CSP brushes for Lineart with good line weight? I'm trying to improve the weight of my lines, but I'm having a hard time finding brushes with the flexibility I'm looking for
That's a good question. There are all sorts of ways line weight is used and the right brush is different for each genre and style of drawing, I'd say.
To start: A lot of my lineart brushes are adjusted with slightly LESS brush size dynamics because I always felt like the original default CSP brushes (like the Mapping Pen and G-Pen) gave an unrealistic and uncontrollable amount just based on the their pressure settings.
Some people do use them well for specific styles, so they're not inherently bad. But I definitely think they're not friendly to beginners or people who just wanna pick up a pen and go draw rather than obsess over the precise way they're pushing down on their pen.
More recent versions of Clip Studio Paint actually came with some new default brushes, including "Real G-Pen", which had pressure settings that felt more right to me. But it's a little noisy so its uses are a bit more specific.
I have a brush set included with EnpitsuP called Superclean Linework. Those are the ones I designed as cleanup brushes for anime-ish looking art. They come in several flavors: Densy, Softie, Smoothy, Sang. I varied them based on how I saw different artists preferred their lines: a bit on the sharp side? Slightly blurry? With a little bit of opacity fade? A little more line variation? Among these, Sang has the largest amount of size response.

Ultimately, it may be a little bit of both a subjective experience and depend on what your hand/tablet/driver settings/style preferences are like. If you're having trouble finding a brush for this purpose, I think you should hone in on if you're not finding the right brush because every brush seemed too difficult to control, or you can't seem to get results you like, or you can't find one with a feel that matches the physical tool you're used to.
I think it's also worth noting that some artist's styles also rely a lot on them just changing their brush size setting depending on what part they're drawing. So you may end up needing a brush that has less pressure-size variation than you expect. My recommendation is always to look very closely when learning from someone else's linework example. Try to achieve it yourself side-by-side and see where it doesn't quite match up and ask yourself why. Or ask others why.
Of course, there are a bunch of other "lineweighty" brushes too outside of this genre of mostly-thin lineart.

untitled mage TTRPG WIP summary
so. the player characters are mages, which are humans born closer to raw magic than others. some mages are born closer to raw magic than others, and character creation is done in part through a spiderweb graph.
aspects of the spiderweb graph include spreads for magemarks (lower = fewer or easier to hide), Reality Sensitivity (determines which consequence table the GM uses for critical failures), Arcane Focus needs (ranges from a need for one specific magical item, to any magical item, to no focus needed at all), Topics (lower = dots across more Topics), Remarkable Topics (complicated), and Remarkable Arts (complicated).
there are 3 "tiers" of mages, defined in the book by how many points they've spent across the spiderweb total. tier 1 mages are the most grounded in reality, and must transform to access their powers (or they activate uncontrollably under stressful conditions). they usually blend in with nonmages relatively easily. tier 2 mages are between magic and reality, and have an easier time learning it, but their magemarks are typically visible at all times unless they've taken a trait to be able to hide them. tier 3 mages are the closest to raw magic, and can become extremely powerful. however, their talents are limited, and they often need help and care to navigate the reality their bodies are bound to.
Arts are the subjects that come up in arcane situations. a mage will typically find one or two Arts to be Remarkable, granting them a discount in the XP cost for purchasing Spells from those Arts. Spells are fairly freeform, with players encouraged to craft their own within the limits of the system and their character's abilities. Arts do not describe domains like "elemental" or "healing" or "luck" magic, but rather the manner in which raw magic is harnessed. current Art forms include:
movement
perception
enchantment
creation
destruction
these can be combined for different effects, if the player is adept enough at the correct Arts to achieve it. An example of this would be Movement + Creation making a Summoning spell.
Topics are the subjects that come up in mundane situations. a mage will find certain Topics to be Remarkable, granting them a Specialty within the interest, potentially combined with another Topic depending on the mage's spiderweb graph. Topics are fairly static, but Specialties are freeform. Topics include things like vehicles, history, technology, physicality, and medicine, to name but a few. some example Specialities would be Physicality (football), History + Medicine (medical history), and Vehicles + Technology (vehicle schematics).
Magemarks are the visible signs of magehood, and they vary in location, size, and type. some glow, some are stains or tattoos, and some can even manifest as things like translucency or skin of other materials. a mage's rating in the magemark aspect determines how numerous or how hard to hide their magemarks are.
the game uses a dice pool system, the specific dice and numbers of which I haven't figured out yet. it's day 1, cut me some slack. Arts and Topics can be used one or two at a time to complete arcane and mundane tasks respectively, or both Arts and Topics can be combined should the situation call for it.
I don't have damage/health figured out yet. I suspect, given the bullshit magic system, things could get a bit twisty.
the concept is setting-agnostic, but there are some suggestions for tolerance levels for mages. generally, mages are reluctantly "tolerated" by masses that poorly understand them, discriminate against them, and frequently consider them suspect. some extremist factions seek to eradicate mages one way or another. mages are typically drawn to each other, though this not-infrequently causes fights, and as a result of this volatility attempts at forming dedicated "schools" for mages usually blow up in one sense or another if they're approved at all.
this is a game for masochists who like doing cool shit. the higher tiers require you to limit your utility, but you can do some wicked stuff in return.
I've got more in the planning doc, but I think I've managed to imply enough with the phrasing for you to get the idea? let me know what you think! thanks for reading this far!

I feel like writing a bunch of stuff about how colour theory is used in Aikatsu and the Pretty Series' art. Mostly just random observations. This will be a pretty long post
Aikatsu
Here are the eyes of different brown-eyed characters over the years: Otome, Rin, Yume, Aine, and Rose. You can see how, in line with character design trends, the bottom part of their eyes becomes brighter over the years, going from light brown to yellow and eventually, green.
This will be relevant later.
PriMagi
Lemon seems to have a duller skin tone than Miruki – look at those hands next to each other. Those hands do NOT look the same colour.
But the base colour is actually exactly the same.
I tried to edit the hands image to be solid colour, but it was too airbrushed/gradient-y (and then my computer crashed without saving my edit), so I'll use this image instead.
Anyway, the point is, choosing different shades for highlights and shadows can make the same colour look different.
Aikatsu Planet and AiPri
Recently, it's been popular to use different colours as highlights and shadows (whereas before, people would mostly just use lighter and darker versions of the same colour). Aikatsu Planet used this technique on the hairstyles to make shiny-looking designs that pop.
For example, Hana's hair contains yellow, magenta, pink, purple, white and green, but the overall impression it gives off is just yellow and magenta.
The yellow streaks in Ruli's hair are shaded with teal to create an interesting sort of shadow effect.
The hair lighting in Aikatsu Planet looks a bit odd, but it works in its own way.
AiPri tries to imitate this effect by simply adding rainbow highlights to every character's hair, but they use a "one size fits all" approach where they use the same rainbow gradient for every character.
I was going to say "I'm not gonna accuse a character designer of not understanding colour theory, because I'm sure they must", but then I looked up the character designer and this seems to be their first time working in character design, so idk. But regardless of whether they know colour theory or not (they probably do, I'm sure anyone who works in animation knows it), I DO think they were trying to find a shortcut to the effect, for whatever reason.
I was trying to pin down one main reason that it doesn't work, but there are a lot of reasons. SO many reasons.
The first reason, and probably the easiest to understand, is that some of the highlights are nearly the same colour as the rest of the hair. The highlights are a gradient of yellow, cyan, and pastel purple. Mitsuki has yellow hair, and Chii has pastel purple hair. The character designer wisely avoided giving any of the characters cyan hair, but Airi's hair is still too close to cyan, so the cyan doesn't show up well on her. It's pretty hard to come up with three colours that will show up on every character when the characters are practically a rainbow.
Another reason is that many of the characters have hair that's lighter than the highlights, which causes the highlights to have a sort of 'inverted' appearance. This is sometimes done as a stylistic choice – several white-haired characters from the Pretty Series (e.g. Anju, Ryume) had this type of lighting on their hair. But the contrast isn't enough, especially with the small size of the highlights, so they're hard to see. On Airi and Mitauki in particular, only the purple parts show up clearly, which, at a glance, makes it look like they were only drawn with highlights on one side of their heads.
Yet another reason is that the saturation level is inconsistent among characters, which makes some characters' hair look glossier than others.
Here is a desaturated image of the AiPri characters. The darker parts (aside from the black) are parts with high saturation (brightness), whereas the lighter parts (aside from the white) are parts with low saturation.

You can see that with several characters (Himari, Mitsuki, Chii, Tamaki, Airi), the highlights are around the same level of saturation as the rest of the hair.
In comparison, here is a desaturated image of the Aikatsu Planet characters.
The highlights in their hair all look white, because they are pastel shades with lower saturation. Even the pink highlight in Ruli's yellow streak of hair appears light when desaturated, despite looking darker in full colour.
The AiPri characters' hair also has darker, duller shadows, unlike Aikatsu Planet. Hana and Mitsuki both have yellow hair, but Hana's has pink shadows, whereas Mitsuki's has dull/dark yellow shadows. This makes the neon highlights look out of place. However, I think it was the intention to make the AiPri hair highlights look out of place and otherworldly, so I won't complain too much about that.
And I could go on about the inconsistent placement of the highlights, but that's barely on topic at this point. Anyway, this style of lighting is incredibly difficult to do right, and requires a bit of knowledge in order to master. It's very tempting to imitate it since it's so popular these days, but it really can't be done well without proper knowledge and careful thought.

No Small Feat Artwork Pt. 1 - The PCs
By request, I'm gonna show off some of the artwork for No Small Feat, a Midgaheim story my friends and I told through the TTRPG system Fabula Ultima. I drew a lot of characters and monsters for it, and my friends - in particular, @dragonzzilla, @scatha5, and @dinosaurana - helped line and color them so we'd have cute little sprites to use on our online battlemaps, which really helped sell the whole "we're playing an oldschool turn based RPG" vibe that Fabula Ultima's system is going for.
For the first batch, it makes sense to start with the heroes of the game. Since No Small Feat was a fairy tale pastiche, we worked hard as a group to make sure each PC felt like a fairy tale protagonist more than a stock fantasy hero - characters that, while not incapable of defending themselves, would be more suited to using trickery, guile, and in some cases, compassion to solve problems.
@scatha5 created Bright Eyes, a young noblewoman whose parents tried to marry her off to a much older man without consulting her, and chose to deal with that by leaving home, disguising herself as a peasant boy, and basically traveling the earth with her pet cat that was secret a Puk (i.e. a tiny dragon) named Longshanks.
@cerothenull created Charles, a minotaur living in the town Aesopton (some involved Midgaheim world-building for your pleasure: Aesopton, while located in the kingdom of Engelsex, was founded by soldiers from the Mediterran Empire who were left behind during one of the Empire's many failed Wars of Conquest. Without the resources needed to make the journey home, they just settled down in the country they failed to take over and lived humble lives, with their descendants identifying as people of Engelsex rather than Mediterra, though they kept many Mediterran customs). Charles began as a farmer who kept a good pomegranate orchard, but, thanks to some dubious advice from one of his neighbors, he got lost and found himself in a less obscure part of Engelsex, and spent most of the campaign trying to survive long enough to find a way home.
My friend Cene created Edmund Gilford, the son of two knights who died defending the King of Engelsex from an attempted coup, and who had to inherit their duties way too early. One day, while hunting with his servants, he went off on his own and was a bit rude to a woman in the woods, and wouldn't you know it he ended up turning into a big chimeric monster. Edmund began the story as arrogant, selfish, and antagonistic, but slowly grew to discover a more altruistic side to himself as the story progressed.
@dinosaurana created Montblanc, a nice fellow who also met a mysterious woman in the woods and happened to mention that he wanted to see more of the world. She gave him a book with an eyeball in it and tasked him with drawing at least 100 different monsters, which became a major component of how the whole campaign was structured (and why this art post has to be in so many parts). I believe dinosaurana pitched the character to me as "what if Newt Scamander didn't suck ass?" which is a damn solid pitch for my money. Montblanc also has a pet barnacle goose named Barnaby, and we all love Barnaby in this house.
Finally, @shadyserpent269 created Scrunt, a roughly human-sized dragon who was the wildcard in an already kind of chaotic party of weirdos, which is just what this fairy tale needed to cook with gas!

We'll end this with some art of Barnaby and Longshanks, so you can get a better look at them. Barnacle geese aren't chimeras, btw - they're just barnacles that, through magic, evolved to resemble geese in shape and size. They eat carrion!

sorry if you already answered this, but how do the specific colors for each species work when in different regions? are there any specific colors that are more common in one place than the other???
old art and outdated ethnicities, very skinny maanuls/kyhuines up ahead
yes, each region has a group/ethnicity that sports colors that are exclusive to them, even feather type for the mane of maanul divers from one region to another. For kyhuines every group has the same feather types, BUT it is possible to have an individual with curly feather genes like a frillback pigeon. that said gene is a mutation so it's not common but it can be passed down
now im sincerely sorry I don't have a really clean good chart yet, ill use these shitty drawings I once made to explain the color to a friend. while they suck and are not good references to look at when it comes to anatomy you still understand color variation with them at least. I'll start with maanuls!
Western maanuls
while on the maanul drawings they don't have size dif, if this was done seriously the females would be bigger than males across every group. Western maanuls are ""the basic ones"" if you had to put it bluntly. id imagine that ancient maanuls before they diversified in colors probably looked a bit like a tone-down modern Western maanul.
the examples ill use for each groups are the most basic individuals you could ever think of. Because with dye and modification, an individual from one group could end up widely different from the base look. For example, Morang is a western maanul but she doesn't look like the example shown here, she cut down feathers for a straight-end look and she bleached herself to be a unified white. another we
Eastern maanuls
now with these guys, i do have a good render of them which you can see here, like western maanuls they got a mane with flexible feathers. the best irl example i can give for you to visualize that type of feathers would be to look at a Japanese roosters's tails. males have a greenish turquoise end some of their feathers. Which is a color exclusive to them. If i ever post an image of yarey'lu ( a male eastern maanul) and you see his yellow feather tips be aware that its not natural, and these are done with dyes. so would be the yellow marks around the eyes, these are also done by paint. another character that is an eastern maanul is ak'laam who doesn't look like the examples because she's melanistic.
Eastern males are the most colorful of all, they've also got iridescent feathers but so do eastern females which is also unique to them. The sea they live next to is a bright blue and within that sea, they have many coral barriers and "exotic" wildlife, even the flora around their region is bright and varied so, i had to make them fancy to go with their place.
Southern maanuls
now they've got their perks too, maanuls and kyhuines after being an ugly hatchlings they become what they call a fledging, which is a state where they're fully covered in a yellowish coat of feathers with brown stripes. Now every maanul and every kyhuine shed that coat at some point, so they lose the stripes except southern maanuls. Southern maanuls even as full adults still have some reminiscences of their stripes from when they were a fledgling.
The mane of easterns are quite particular too, they've got a mix of the two variants. a top layer with hard shafts that move for emoting or just to dance, and a bottom layer of soft shaft feathers. my only southern maanul character is nau'stikah
North-east maanuls
northeast are not that far in the north honestly on the map that population just sits on top of keezeh behind mountain ranges where the nice weather shifts into more temperate ones, like a normal winter you'd find in central Europe (i wish snow was still a thing here), their feather mane is usually quite short compared to other maanul groups and it is fully composed of hard shaft feathers that moves unintentionally with emotions or can be controlled at will.
They are quite dark due to the place they live at, which are cliffs that have been tinted black because of ancient volcanic activities. There arent many north east maanuls, they're the rarest of the 5 maanul groups. A character that is a north east maanul to mention would be qua'tuli
Central north maanuls
and for last with maanuls, central north maanuls which are "real northern" maanuls because they truly inhabit the real north compared to north east. Like north east their mane is fully made out of hard shaft feathers that can move, but unlike them their mane isn't short. you may have noticed but they're more covered too! ears are covered, most of the hand except palms, and the same for feet, except feet can actually be fully covered in feathers in some cold periods of the year.
Compared to other maanuls, central north go out in the land much more often to find food because during cold seasons they cannot always easily rely on the ocean. Their life is harsher than other groups so it sometimes reflects in folklore, like, for example, the way northern maanuls draw haanu (maanul's all mighty mother deity, a sort of Venus of willendorf equivalent) is lets say much scarier than the way other part of the world do it. i dont have any central north characters!
-
i should also mention that all maanuls have yellow eyes by default, mixing groups can create mutations tho, like orange, red or even brown (monmartre for example, western+central north it has red eyes cause mutation, and while it just looks like a western with neglected feathers it starts to look closer to a central north when it ages in late GA), other mutations can affect eye color too, ak'laam has black/brown eyes because of melanism, and an albino maanul would have red eyes.
kyhuines, commonly have yellow eyes too tho it is plausible but rare to have red, grey and brown eyes without being mixed. These traits can become hereditary too, same goes for maanuls with mutated eye colors they can also be passed down (example with monmartre's litter, but also that was done so its litter would stand out and be recognisable)
-
Now with kyhuines, there are only 4 groups/ethnicity compared to the 5 of maanuls, and theirs are quite close to one another so claims like "south, west, east, north" is a bit of a stretch but they still use it anyways for communication.
Southern kyhuines
the most common kyhuine are southern! now with kyhuines the color dimorphism is much more present compared to maanuls. Even talons in females if often darker, southern females can have dark brown talons to just the light pinkish that males have. gular skin is usually less bright too. Like eastern maanuls, i have a proper render of that group that you can see here. notable characters that are southern kyhuines would be satmuh, kapone, oto, and bantam. These 4 are all siblings so they can also be shortened to "southern litter" in literature
Western kyhuines
body wise, identical to southern. The difference is that they're much lighter. between males and females colorwise it's not that different most of the time. But they still got their quirk, their gular skin is a blue color. first contact maanuls mistaken western and southern to just be the same group variants but not, they are distinct ethnicity despite looking similar. i don't have any character that belongs to this group!
Salt desert kyhuines (or salt rock)
calling them north is a stretch, while on old kyhuine maps, they are situated up to other groups, on a world map they're just in the center of the mega continent like other kyhuines its just that they live in the salt desert. the talons of a female salt kyhuine can almost be black, to just greyish tones like the example, same goes for gular skin it can go from this tone to a full black one. Then the males sport these blue cool tones and also have iridescent feathers, irredescent feathers in kyhuines is only found in male salt desert individuals.
now the "wings) these drawings suck because while you get the base idea for colors its not good when it comes to accurate anatomy, the feather of salt male kyhuines are long, very long, almost like a Microraptor (on the drawing the leg feathers are not right, not large/wide enough). While they cant glide because they're too heavy and not made for that either way. it does help readjust a fall or jump, you'd usually see males flap their "arm wing" a little when jumping to something high. notable characters of that group are Ame, kaasim, and the egg twin sisters
Eastern kyhuines
So for eastern kyhuines, i do have a clean render of them but its also outdated when it comes to spine posture. While ill still link it because you get a better look at their face beware that the kyhuine don't stand like that anymore (as you can literally see here). You can go view it here.
They're the only kyhuine that can have green-ish tones (for males), their face is also different its more curved, their face have a more "chubby" look. by the way, a healthy kyhuine from any region will have fat cheeks, best example to look at ig, are these shibas with fat cheeks. Their "wings" and overall look is a usually smoother than other kyhuines, they also have shorter "ears"
My favorite kyhuines honestly, i love their face a lot it's shameful that i didn't make any eastern oc atm.
all done, if you've reached down there then thank you for reading/looking! means a lot to me

The Incredible Digital World- The Races
So, let's start this off by explaining what kinds of people there are to find in the Incredible Digital World. For the most part, you'll be familiar with most all of them, but we'll go over them in detail just to be sure!
Toons!
Toons are an exceedingly common race to find, especially in the Great Toon Plains, the largest biome. They come in just about every shape and size, but most often are anthropomorphic animals or, naturally, exaggerated humanoids. Many Toons are capable of incredible squash and stretch feats, and physics seem to operate differently for them than it does for many others- in particular, only the Plushfolk can boast a level of invulnerability similar to theirs, with even explosions doing next to no permanent damage to a Toon (though it can certainly disorient and incapacitate). This results in a majority of Toons having a bit of a skewed priority system and social mores compared to most others. Toons eat a number of different foods, though most commonly typical fruits, meats, and vegetables, and any culinary derivations thereof.
Kaufmo and Pomni are examples of Toons in The Incredible Digital World.
Plushfolk!
Plushfolk is the general name for the doll-like, stuffed craft people that inhabit the area. The Knitlands they inhabit are just as crafted; the ground, trees, and other natural environs seemingly made of felt and other soft fabrics. Well known for their peaceful attitudes and crafting ability, Plushfolks are well respected, for the most part. Perhaps the reason for such attitude is that Plushfolk are also relatively unique in that they are nigh-immortal compared to most NPCs, capable of being stabbed, dismembered, crushed, and other maladies that would normally properly kill a local, and be able to bounce back none the worse for wear…provided they get sewn back up properly or aired out, AND if they still have stuffing to fill their. They fall to fire like any other individual, however- perhaps even take to it WORSE, meaning flammables are considered exceptionally dangerous around most Plushfolk. Many even have an intrinsic fear of the element, resulting in a unique ecology. Plushfolk can eat normal foods, however, they find cotton, hemp, flax, and other such natural fibers particularly delectable.
Ragatha, Doodl, Bibi and many others are/will be examples of Plushfolk.
Porcelains!
Porcelains are a fragile, but very thoughtful and empathetic people. Porcelains take any number of appearances, but many are either ball-jointed dolls, pottery and clay creatures, or ribbony beings with masked heads (heh). They tend to keep to themselves in self-governed, smaller towns; more out of self-preservation due to their fragility than any dislike. That said, the Knitland’s soft environs and easygoing populace, combined with a shared love of the arts, means that the two territories get along rather well, so there is a strong trade between the two. Where the Plushfolk prefer clothing fashion and styles, the Porcelains lean to general artistic expression, famous for a number of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other wondrous artistic endeavors. Even the art of acting is enjoyable to them, with one playwright troupe in particular becoming known for its daring, action-heavy style of performance, something most Porcelains would find anathema in any respect.
Gangle and the actress Ari are examples of Porcelains.
Toyfolk!
The Toyfolk are a varied people, to say the least! Consisting of a wide variety of makes and styles, Toyfolk are often easily as emotionally vibrant as the most eager Toon- 'heart on their sleeve' can be apt at times, though this is no hard and fast rule. They're oftentimes plasticine or of wood make, but Toyfolk can be both technologically simple, or complex. The majority of Toyfolk tend to live in the Kingdom of Hallowbark, ruled by the gregarious Kinger and Queenie the First. However, some seeking more urban environments will migrate west to Techno Valley, where they can engage in much more high-tech hijinks, or in general simply live a more steady life that suits them.
Kinger is an example of Toyfolk.
Amalgam!
Amalgams are a...difficult race to check. Simply because no two are the same- Amalgams seem to be a combination of objects or geometries that seem to have no real logical connection or pattern. Oftentimes, an Amalgam is confused for a Toyfolk or even a Plushfolk at times, due to similar color scheme, or the Amalgam being made up of toy pieces themselves. Whether it is partial pieces or a strange collection of shapes and things, Amalgams can be enigmatic in their individuality. Some are quiet. Some are loud! But all know when they're looking at another Amalgam. A general rule of thumb? If no two parts quite seem to match, (or if a portion of their body is floating, which is usually a dead giveaway) they're an Amalgam. If they seem to mostly be one 'thing' in general, they're something else. Most Amalgams tend to prefer to stay around Techno Valley, where the technology present allows them easy workarounds for any trouble their bodies may give them- and gets them FAR less confused looks from passersby.
Zooble is an example of Amalgams.
Candy People!
The Candy People of the Candy Isles are arguably the most reclusive peoples in the Digital World, as they rarely come off of the Isles for any extended period of time. This is less out of disdain, again, but rather out of sheer self-preservation. Candy people can be fragile, with lollipop citizens, cake and gummy people, and marshmallow folk just a few examples of the citizenry. That said, the majority are often highly energetic and friendly. The country itself is further known both for its delicious desserts and sweets, with its maple syrup being particularly valued on the mainland, and for their legendary Gummi Horses, the speed of which are nearly unrivaled throughout the world.
Gummigoo would be an example of Candy People.
That's all for now! Tomorrow, we'll look into some of the specific locales of the Incredible Digital World!

Personally if I was thinking about avalance in regards to an Olympic sporting event, I’d probably go fencing, like they regularly compete against each other, but come Olympic time they’re on the same team. I would have gone with some sort of martial arts, but I’m not sure how the weight classes are (with the height difference it seems unlikely that they would directly compete against each other). Archery or biathlon could be contenders (I have a hard time not thinking some sort of weapon or fighting event for them as my first reaction), but I think those lack the face to face/sizing up your opponent intensity that those two had in their early adversarial relationship. I don’t actually know like anything about fencing so I could be completely wrong about styles and strategies, but I could see Ava as the type of person who would absolutely study all of Sara’s fights (is fights the right word for fencing matches?) to try to find any patterns that Sara tends to rely on and would be as technically perfect as possible while Sara is great at reading her opponents on the fly and improvising.
lmao okay first off the martial arts one wld be hilarious. ava being like?? u want me to fight her?? she's tiny. i'm going to squash her like a bug. and sara's like i'm gonna fight you regardless!! square up!! and the olympic officials decide maybe this wasn't a good idea after all
i think fencing would be fun because it seems such a rich people sport, so i can imagine ava had been doing it since she was three or something but sara's come by it almost accidentally and is super good all of a sudden, and everyones saying ava Finally has a real challenger for gold, and ava is both parts impressed at sara's raw talent and also annoyed that she's so good and maybe a tiny bit scared she's going to lose to sara and not be the top anymore.
and then there's something devestating like they're friends (and maybe something more...) and they have to face off against eachother to see who gets a place in the olympic final. and both really want it and they both want the other to get it yknow?
#phoebe returns#avalance#i think ur right abt ava being a strategist#and sara being an improviser#its like in ice princess lmao#she deviated from the programme!

I saw your scrap blanket post and wanted to ask: how do you knit a scrap blanket? how do you knit several rectangles together? My aunt crocheted several knitted stripes that are about 1,20m x 20cm together, but the difference in texture between the knitted parts and the crocheted rows is .. difficult.
Do you mean this post?
I actually ended up scrapping this scrap blanket because the yarn weights were getting just too different from one another. I also just wasn't working on it, and decided the yarn would be better used in other scrap blanket projects anyway.
I tend to crochet my blankets overall (I can't imagine that many live stitches), so they're a little bit more wieldy to put together… but I also abhor seaming and avoid it absolutely as much as possible, so my scrap blankets tend to be continuously growing monstrosities.
Because you used two different fiber arting techniques ("my aunt crocheted several knitted stripes") I'm not sure which craft your aunt actually did! If the stitches you can see in the stripes look like little v's (or little horizontal bars), then she knitted (and purled) them. If it looks like a wide variety of stitches you find difficult to accurately describe, she probably crocheted them.
Texture differences aren't necessarily a bad thing in a scrap blanket, unless you really happen to really dislike one of the textures. At that point, if you're making the blanket for yourself, I would just omit those pieces.
In either case, whether the stripes are crocheted or knit, seaming pieces together is essentially the same concept: you just use some kind of seaming technique either with a tapestry needle or by using a crochet row to attach them to one another. The tricky part comes with trying to line the stitches up—which! if you're making a scrappy, patchworky blanket, you don't have to do, and it just adds character to it, imo!
The other tricky part comes in if the stripes your aunt made are of different yarn weights. In that case, I would probably advise picking up stitches along the border and then knitting or crocheting (your craft of choice) at least one row of border around each piece you want to use, individually, all in the same weight yarn. So all your borders will be the same weight even if your individual pieces aren't. That should make your seaming process a bit easier.
If you've got different size pieces to put together, you'll have to do a little planning before seaming them all together so you can arrange them in a way where they all fit to form the shape you want. This may mean making and adding in new scrap pieces to make up any different in length or width—but again, that just will add to the patchwork charm.
It's hard to say anything more specific without seeing what the pieces look like, so I hope this was somewhat helpful!

Hi today I'd like to talk about the reveal of the Loungefly merch for the Care Bears x Universal Monsters collab!! In summary, we got 6 new pieces in total--2 backpacks, one card holder, one wallet, one crossbody bag, and one bomber jacket!
I'll be adding pictures into the read more with more "analysis" and opinions :3
First off we have the Mummy Bedtime Bear backpack and card holder!! I love the design of both of these. The backpack's mummy wrappings glow in the dark, too! It looks like it'll be a soft backpack, which is nice, and I'm in love with the art for the cardholder--I feel like the colors they chose are very harmonious and pleasing to the eyes, though I don't have much use for the cardholder (it is still a very tempting purchase)
Next up we have the Sweet Dreams backpack and zip-around wallet!! I already mentioned how much I love the official art for this collab but I have to say it again because wow these are beautiful and stunning. The background stars on the backpack glow in the dark, which could be a fun effect! Personally, I don't think the green glow fits well with the rest of it, but it's definitely something I can overlook. Something fun about this one is the usage of Sweet Dreams Bear, who I rarely see added to merchandise, and especially Loungefly merch! At first I thought she was Share until I noticed she had a totally different belly-badge. There's so many fun details on this one, and I just. I am obsessed with these designs I love them all so much. I also love the usage of the actual star characters and how they gave them monster designs, too! Honestly, I'm hardcore debating getting these--or at least the wallet, because they're just so cute and it can be kind of hard to find merch in darker colors for these guys, and most of my wardrobe is incidentally pretty dark
Next we have the Bride of Frankenstein Cheer Bear crossbody bag! The design of this one is super pleasing to me, it kind of gives Sailor Moon vibes, and I just think it's awesome. Definitely one of my favorite pieces for the collab! It's hard for me to envision the actual sizings and how much would be able to fit in it, so I don't know how practical it would be, but it's very cute! The colors all-around work very well together and are also super nice to look at. I especially love the pattern on the inside of the bag--the art of Cheer and Grumpy hugging is so sweet! It could probably do without the lightning bolts they added, but I don't necessarily think they take away from it either. I don't really like the debossed details on the outside of the bag--I think it could've definitely been done without those--but it doesn't impact my overall opinion too negatively, and it's overall pretty fine--I do like the star details. I'm very tempted to get this one
And finally, we have the all-over print bomber jacket! I have some mixed feelings about this one. I absolutely adore the patterns on the outside and inside (the return of the stars!! and Care-A-Lot!!) but I'm not so sure how well this pattern works as a jacket. Like it's fine, and I like it, but the collars, cuffs, and pockets kind of clash and there's not really a color that wouldn't clash, plus it's a lot to look at in a way that I'm not sure works for this kind of clothing. A friend of mine suggested that it would look better as a Hawai'ian shirt, and I'm definitely inclined to agree. That or some other form of button-up. Maybe even leggings, or a skirt or dress, perhaps a headband--or even a tie would be super fun, if a bit unpopular. That isn't to say it's bad though! I still do think it's cute, and maybe seeing it in person would change my opinions on it--it looks pretty good on the models in the photos. I suppose time will tell!
On one hand, I'm a little sad that we didn't get TenderHeart, GoodLuck, and Grumpy as solo items like we did Cheer and Bedtime (for the Loungefly drops in specific because there's a bunch of other merch too that I haven't gotten a good look at yet), but I feel like solo Bedtime merch is really rare nowadays and I'm glad to see that we're not putting all the attention on Grumpy again because he's pretty much the most common one for pop culture merch (which has always kind of peeved me). I'm very excited to see GoodLuck appearing here, too! Their design is adorable, and so is TenderHeart's (I didn't have the chance to mention this earlier, but I love how they subtly altered all of the Belly Badges!!)
All in all, I think this is a very awesome collection, and I'm absolutely dying to get these (and my wallet is weeping because Loungefly is expensive)

Hello! May I receive an Obey Me! matchup? :)
To start off, I’m in my 20s. My pronouns are they/them, AFAB and genderfluid! My sexuality is panromantic and acespec, and love me some fictional men. <3 My star sign is Taurus and MBTI type is INFP.
Also I’m AuDHD, have PSTD and am a bit of an introvert.
For appearances, I’m 5’4 (cries) with medium length darkish brown hair in the style of a shaggy mullet, light warm toned skin and a mid size body type. And I’m nearsighted AF so I use glasses.
I tend to dress in very fem fashion most times. My style fluctuates between goth aesthetic and the pink cutesy aesthetic, which is always hilarious to see people’s baffled reactions when one day I’m dressed fully in black then the next day where a very pink and sanrio themed outfit. 🤭
Funny that a lot about me fluctuates either from one or the other, I’m so bad with decision making that it’s literally engrained in me lol. This goes for my taste in music as well!
It’s between nu metal and goth rock to chill lo-fi and melodic instrumental! but game soundtracks and music that’s like jack stauber (music you probably hear in a lot of those weirdcore and liminal spaces videos lol) is something I listen to as well!
I’m pretty quiet, get anxious easily (even though I tend to hide it but can still be seen through pacing back and forth a lot eugh). I’m excitable with things I love, though I get scared because my own excitement makes me ramble too much so I try to hold back a lot unless I’m comfortable with the person and am confident they won’t get annoyed or if they ever need a break they could let me know!
I do digital art in my free time and writing storylines and plots to OCs and personal projects probably for most of the day because I love it too much… also, I’m a gamer too! But I have huge preferences for indie horror and cozy games. Horror games with heavy topics like The Cat Lady, and cozy games like Stardew Valley! Also, don’t ever ask me to tell you the FNAF lore I will legit spend hours explaining and adding layers of theories. It’d drive people insane. 🧍
I LOVVEE cozy clothing like oversized sweaters, cold weather, SLEEPING even though I have a hard time doing so, and I’m a huge foodie! I like trying foods from all culture and try new things! :)
I HAATTEE overly bright lights, it sends me into a panic!! The feeling of rubbery squishy food, my autistic butt will die on the spot. 😭 Being ignored is something I can’t stand, I’d probably cry lol. Same effect if I get yelled at.
Okay that’s about it, thank you !! 💕💕
Hi Anon! Thank you for your request! Sorry it took so long. I hope you like your matchup!
In Obey Me, I match you with...

Satan is a good person for you to be around, both platonically and romantically.
He's great at helping you with your AuDHD and PTSD. Since he's read so much, he knows a variety of different ways he can help and will tailor those to suit your specific needs.
He will lend you his sweaters! He thinks you look cute wearing them and they're just the right type of oversized. He'll leave one laying around for you every day so if you want to wear one, you can.
Very attentive. You never feel like you're being ignored when Satan's around. He values your opinion and finds everything you have to say interesting.
Will never yell at you. He knows he can be volatile sometimes so if he thinks there's a chance he might snap and yell at you, he'll let you know and will keep some distance between you until he calms down. The last thing he wants is to make you feel uncomfortable.

I'm working on a project that has a few little programs in it and i thought a little tarot drawing program would be cute. but i couldnt find any pixel art decks under the creative commons to fit the theme.
so naturally, the project spiralled into a whole night of making some. I didnt have time to make my own deck. so first i messed around with making some from creative commons icons but i couldnt get the look consistent and even if i could, making a whole deck would take too long.
The solution i landed on was procedurally modifying the RWS deck to fit the aesthetic. after a loot of tinkering with photoshop actions and a library i modified, i managed to get something i really liked.
I think with a bit more tinkering and some cleaning up, they could make for a really cool deck and i plan to freely release the images when they're done.
this is the result so far
turns out, running a series of actions on 78 different images is really hard. the js library i used for a part of the process only supported doing one image at a time so i had to figure out how it worked and modify it. all up, it was a series of photoshop actions, a javascript library, a bash script, and an autohotkey script. I think i can refine the process and make something really cool, especially with some manual work on them afterwards.
id really like to make a physical copy of these for myself maybe at playing card size. here are a few of my favorites
