More experimenting with stylized stick figures! Trying to balance making their eyes easier to read and making sure they retain their bug-like “beady eyes” look. Ended up going with something that’s more or less like Flygon’s eyes (i.e. tinted goggle-like lenses over the whole eye). I’ve also given them little fur tufts on their limbs. The sticks are Creatures to me and I wanna push that in my art.

one more opinion about star trek fashion

it actually shouldn’t look like stuff you would wear (or at least a lot of it shouldn’t)

i’ve seen a lot of praise for modern trek fashion being better than classic trek because ‘people would actually wear that’

look at what people wore as everyday fashion 200-300 years ago, would you wear it? probably not, maybe for the novelty of it, but definitely not every day.

like, yeah this stuff looks crazy

it’s 300 years in the future. some of them are aliens, makes perfect sense to me that they would wear ridiculous extravagant clothes that look strange to my 21st century eye

similar to how if you showed modern fashion (especially alternative fashion/runway fashion) to someone dressed like this,

they would probably think we’re crazy.

yet for some reason modern trek wants us to believe that hundreds of years into the future people still just wear zip up hoodies?

(idk if the spock fit actually is a hoodie or not but come on man, the zipper? nothing more futuristic than a zipper?)

or this dress that looks like i could buy it in a 21st century target?

(not to hate on chapel, she’s just the only one i can find decent pictures of out of uniform)

also why is everything so grey now? when was it decided that people don’t wear colors in the future? i can not find out of uniform pictures where any of these people wear color, all black, white, grey, and maybe a bit of muted green.

tldr

clothing design in star trek should be just as important as clothing design in a period piece. i don’t think a screencap from any star trek should look like it could just as easily take place in the 21st century, i should see some crazy outfits. the clothes can do a lot of the heavy lifting to remind us that this is supposed to be far in the future.

Ranking some Individuals I have come across while at the dive center:

Client (very rich business person) who didnt know the ocean moved (???) and thought it would be like going in the pool

Random person who dropped a dirty diaper and a banana peel in our very obvious equipment box

Client who asked if we were going to get wet (girl we are Going Under The Water???)

At least three different couples who had never done any diving, zero knowledge of the medium, zero knowledge of if theyd even be ABLE to dive, who staged a marriage proposal underwater because they saw it on instagram (and none of them worked out because one half of the couple is always unable to dive)

Client trying to put a whole sea cucumber in his pocket during a dive (THEYRE TOXIC)

Personally had not met them but my colleagues told me about someone who just before getting into the water told them they didnt know how to swim. And they didnt know they would have to swim. While scuba diving.

First of all, I love your art style and the route that you took with your AU, but may I ask you: Why you dislike power ups? (I just really want to understand, you don't have to explain if you don't feel comfortable) Thanks for this amazing AU and I look forward for the angelic Layer AU.

I mean I've talked about it before but it mostly comes down to too much and too little all at once. They introduced more Miraculouses AND power ups in the same season, so too much, but now we're 4 Seasons since their reveal and we've only seen 3 of them? If the show can't even pretend to care about them, why should I?

Plus the title "power up" is misleading. They don't get a power boost, they don't get stronger - they're just environmental suits. A Costume Change. Which is fine, especially against akumas which can have literally any power. But maybe showcase those powers then????

And the longer they sit on these, the worse hindsight is going to look if when they finally debut them. Like, think: how many akumas would've been easier with the Space Power Up? Why do you think I made this joke in SLs Crocoduel:

How much easier would Stormy Weather have been the second time around if they had the Space Power Up? Or Weredad? Queen Wasp? Star Train, the akuma LITERALLY IN SPACE?! They hadn't debuted the power yet, but Adrien and Marinette have had the full set of powers since "Syren", it just makes THEM look dumb for not using it! And it'll be the same thing when the other 4 powers finally show themselves. IF they show themselves.

Just add a throw away line about the ingredients being difficult to acquire to explain the scarcity, at LEAST!

Superbat parenting babies would be a breeze in my humble opinion. Bruce's medically well-versed enough and immune to even enhanced interrogation levels of sleeplessness, and loves kids and would probably be happy reading them stories to sleep every night.

And Clark could always tell if the kid swallowed fridge magnets/batteries/something else. Also, tell me which baby wouldn't enjoy Clark's presence and calmness. They'd be like little hamsters cajoled by the steadiness of his hold.
