I'm back from the mythical land of Ohio and I have brought with me fic recs! I'm changing up my format for how I make these too, I'll include the author's summary and bit of my own Thoughts and Feelings about said fic.

ALSO for all you Superbat lovers out there, if you are interested in joining a Superbat discord server, might I suggest the Superbat (every)week Server? It was originally for people to shout about their ideas for Superbat Week 2024, but since everyone was having so much fun talking about their favorite blorbos, we are keeping it running indefinitely. SO EXCITED about this fic, it's on the second to last chapter!! I have been thoroughly enjoying the identity shenanigans.

If he were sick, or injured, Alfred would have let him know already, but it’s possible something came up with school or his friends. Dick would be just fine handling a solo night in the Batman suit. Oh god, the layers of who knows and doesn't know what is insane and makes for a fun and suspenseful read! I always look forward to this fic's update.

Author Summary: Logan and Bruce play a fun game of cat and mouse or should I say bat and wolverine.

I've been dealing with Poolverine brain rot after watching the Deadpool and Wolverine movie (on top of the Superbat brain rot), so I got SO EXCITED I saw this Logan/Bruce fic. A mash up of my current brain rots (and some favorite blorbos)

Author Summary: Wade’s off the couch, moving slowly until he’s standing right in front of Logan. He’s eyeing him carefully, thoughtfully, like he can piece together a solution to whatever the hell is happening right now. “You’re not just doing this so you can get out of buying dinner, are you?" “Fuck you.” Or: Even if he can't quite place his face, Logan doesn't think he could ever forget Wade Wilson.

Every time this fic updates, I have to resist the urge to reread the entire fic because I love it so much (I fail each time, I've reread this fic so much). All the chapters have been from Logan's POV, but the latest one is in Wade's, which was Excellent to read. I am Super Excited for the next update.

The Subtle Art of Giving a Massage by Dorath3xplorer - Poolverine, Explicit, 5318 words, complete.

Author Summary: A minute later, Logan’s hands clutch so tightly at the sheets that his knuckles are turning white. Wade continues to squeeze and wring his muscles, using less skilled but much more powerful techniques just to get a reaction—Logan’s low grunt turns into an almost whine as Wade digs into a particularly sore spot; he does it again, harder, just to be mean, not expecting Logan to whimper, half-pleasure and half-pained as he jerks under Wade. Author Summary: “I expected him to be more…forward,” Scott said, breaking the silence “Especially with you.” “With me?” Jean said teasingly. Scott shrugged, “The other Logan—” “This isn’t our Logan, Scott,” Jean said firmly, “And besides, I think he’s very much interested in someone else…” Scott tilted his head confused, “Who?” Jean gives him a deadpan look, “Seriously? Were we not just in the same room for the past half an hour?” Or; Scott meets Logan for the first time and is kind of expecting him to flirt with his girl but instead this Logan is different and seems to have eyes for someone else.

An excellent outsider POV fic looking at Logan and Wade's relationship. I love how protective they are of each other 🥺

Author Summary: A snowstorm hits the city, trapping Logan and Wade alone in their apartment without electricity. Cue sharing a bed for warmth, drinking too much whisky, cuddling in candlelight, and…well, you’ll have to read to find out.

I am also stuck in the middle of a snow storm (blizzard warning yayyy), so reading this fic was a no brainer for me. Very cute and sweet 💖

A Poolverine omegaverse fic on my fic rec list?? It's more likely than you think! I am also a big fan of fics where Logan (or Wade) have omegaverse dynamics, but the other doesn't, but still learns how to take care of them during heats (or ruts).

- trigger warnings bc it's not on ao3 so doesn't have tags: murder, gun and knife violence, bombs, conversations about the deaths of children. this is not healthy relationship fluff but it makes for a 🥵 dynamic that's for damn sure.

yes it's the top fic yes everyone probably knows it but it's good for a reason. THE fake dating high school au fic that I broke all my rules for back in 2015. I refused to read unfinished fics, let alone T rated high school fics, yet I remember waiting for the updates for this one as it came out, messaging mutuals on the day the last chapter was released. and every time I reread I remember why. Brilliantly written, the pining, the angst, the miscommunications. All the Joly and Bossuet scenes.

honourable mention to the scene where Joly is so excited for the battle of the bands, then next scene starts with "I think it's more of a sitting night today" the realest simple yet most gut punching illustration of chronic pain that gets my ass every time.

So actually a good 80% of this is written from personal experience LOL I used to dance and was into drift building/racing in my late teens/early twenties! Most of the references or scenes in Midnight Menagerie are references to things I've seen or done in real life, OR stories friends have told me within the same field. (Nora is literally just a rebranding of this one mutual friend we had who just. Absolutely fucking unhinged) Like for example, the anticipated Hangover Chapter is just a retelling of an insane Summer weekend I had in 2017 ☠️ it's a personal delight being able to translate things into the narrative, even more so knowing people find my stupid, terrible decisions as amusing as I do in current times lol

My general rule of thumb is to write from experience. Things I understand either on a technical point or emotional connection. So, if you've read it in my work, it's probably something I've done LOL

Another reason I find drive in writing this type of narrative is that MM!Blake's type of dissociative PTSD is something I haven't seen much in media in general. I've seen people depict her in various ways (some of them good!), but none of them ever really apply directly to me, so I wanted to make something that I could relate to and how to properly navigate life, given the environmental circumstances. Plus some us need better examples on how to juggle mental illness as adults and also be in healthy long term relationships because damn I have zero reference LOL

As someone who worked in the sex industry for a brief period of time, this one's not only accurate but also A DELIGHT to read. The premise is fun, captivating, and worth the wait. I actually discovered a chapter update earlier this year and sent the gc into hysterics because we thought the fic was dead LMAO props to these authors!! They're doing an amazing job and deserve praise

4. You're A Mountain, Full Of Glory

I should just preface already that every book Blake reads in MM is a fanfiction that exists because I love Easter eggs. Everyone knows I had Blake reference this in chapter 3 LOL but it's equally as immaculate as Erin's work. I LOVED especially the dynamic between Weiss, Yang, and Ruby in this one. Baby, we're complicated fucking murdered me 😭 also that fuckass Christmas scene, that's my favorite Christmas song LMAO

5. The Home Inside Your Head

Written by the ever skilled @/writeriguess . I found this fic by accident by seeing fanart for it floating around on this site. Got curious, picked at it, and. Oh, my god. It's not very often my brain gets scratched in the right way, but boy this one does it. This author does something specifically unique I haven't seen many do before, and I applaud them for it. There's great detail on the scenes that matter, and the fucking organic build up between Blake and Yang is just. God. Chef's kiss. Truly. It feels so god damn natural and healthy and it's already crossing off several of my agendas already. Give this one a read and give the author some love. SENSUAL FACE TOUCHING? CHAPTER 13????? BOOOOOOOYYYYYYY I'm normal about it

Okay so this one's completely different than what I've previously listed but HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS IT A THRILLER. It doesn't nearly have the amount of love and attention it truly deserves. A friend of mine recommended it to me because it shook them so fucking hard they were in total brainrot hell for a MONTH. NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY LMAO God I was obsessed with this for weeks myself. It obviously lives up to it's rating, horror fics aren't for everyone. But if you're able to read it, good lord you should. It's chilling, captivating, and had me on the edge of my fucking seat the entire time. Both endings are good, I still can't decide which one I prefer but RAH I will make sure this is seen god dammit

7. You And Me and This Temptation

Okay this one was an accidental find as well. A friend sent it to me because THEY found it by accident, I clicked on it for later, went looking for a completely different fic that I mistook for this one, started skimming and realized 'wait a minute LMAO I don't recognize this'. But the thing you have to understand is I hate reading. I'm not a reader, I'm picky and it needs to be worth sitting down for long periods of time. This is one of the rare instances where I was so captivated by it I kept reading more and more from the middle where I landed, and eventually just said ykw let me just start from the beginning cus LMAO context.

This one is, by far, one the healthiest and loveliest depictions of first times I have ever seen. This shit was so inspiring to me that it literally kickstarted an essay in someone's DMs why depictions like this are so important. I didn't have this experience irl, and why MM is written the way it is is because its meant to serve as a lighthouse for those who, like me, haven't. This fic however I feel like should be a required read for anyone getting into relationships for the first time because if it's not like how these two interact, LEAVE IT. This is the standard. This is amazingly written, it's the closest I've ever seen canon Yang and Blake be written to date. The fucking souvenir bit 😭 NJKFGNFJKGNGJ killed me, I was kicking my feet laughing for a good minute. This is the kind of standard everyone should look at and go 'yeah, I want what they have' BECAUSE IT'S CORRECT. LOUD CORRECT BUZZER NOISES

Honestly everything in my bookmarks is certified Kaeli Fresh but these 7 are my top faves. They're probably also really commonly known I'm sure but LMAO like I said I don't read much 😭 which is heavily ironic considering I write myself. Any good fics you recommend?

Oh, I’ve got a few. I wish I had more, but I don’t have as much time to read as I used to. Also, since I didn’t have an ao3 account until I started posting fics, I’ve lost a lot my favorites just because I’m a disorganized mess.

I’m in a lot of fandoms, as you can see if you browse my tumblr, but unfortunately I didn’t create an ao3 until bnha, which is my current hyperfixation. Because I didn’t have anywhere to save my favorite fics from other fandoms... well, all this list has is bnha.

And, now that I have an ao3, I’ve been saving all of my bookmarks publicly, so that anyone who visits my account can see what I like to read. The highest on my list are also listed below in no particular order, though the first one holds a special place in my heart.

Let’s start with the fic that, quite literally, was the reason I started posting fanfiction:

Wide Closed Eyes - TheTortoiseQueen

The horrors that All For One committed seemed to be limitless. When the Symbol of Peace is brought to meet "SUBJECT 349: MEDUSA", he finds the one person All Might himself cannot save.... So, for the first time in years-- If ever-- Yagi Toshinori will have to do.

Queenie dragged me in, ripped my heart out, and had Toshinori sew it back together again. She has several other fics that I strongly recommend, but WCE is the one that changed me. I came to ao3 to fall (further) in love with Eraserhead, and fell for All Might, instead. And it’s all Queenie’s fault.

If you want a feel-good, giggle-fest of a fic, this is where you go. Read Mighty’s other stuff, but always fall back to this one. I certainly do.

Love and Honey - Mahoroba

You're a retired heroine. You were never a household name, and "retirement" suited you. Well, except for the chronic underemployment and readjusting to real life. But we can't all be super popular, super big heroes - and honestly, there's a place for "paper pushers."

Too bad Principal Nezu knows who you are. Or rather, who you were. And now, facing the gates of UA, you're surrounded by heroes that don't know what to make of you. Truth to tell, you don't know what to make of them, either.

I can’t describe to you how much I love Mahoroba’s Aizawa. He’s dry, ruthless in a fight, and unbelievably cute. Mahoroba’s characters, and a special relationship they write in on the side, are incredible and delicious. Strongly recommend, if you’re looking for a soft Shouta who can still kick ass.

Blood in the Water - Stonemedusa

You were gentle, soft, and an absolute pushover with a smile taped to her face. Sometimes though, a part of you dreamed of what it'd be like to... be different. To be strong. To stand up for yourself and say 'No', to hate the people that used you and threw you away when they were done.

Blood in the Water is a mixture of fun and realistic. Stonemedusa does a great job of exploring how exhausting a healing quirk would be in this world, while keeping all of the characters interesting and in-character.

The Babysitter - Pockettmonsterr

All Might’s and your rivalry had always been semi-friendly. Well, you tried to keep it friendly. It was a little hard when all he saw you as was a villain.You were a small time thief, plaguing California with your mischief. Always managing to escape All Might’s grasp at the last second.Years later, after therapy and paying for your crimes, you’ve started a new life. You’re feeling better. Refreshed even!But that relief is quickly crushed when a familair hero shows up in your backyard. And he isn’t convinced you’ve changed your villianish ways.Things only get more choatic from there.

This one was recommended to me - literally - two days ago. I haven’t gotten far, but I love what I’ve seen! I’ve always been a sucker for the villain/hero romance dynamic.

Hi anon, thank you for giving us the opportunity to put together a list of stories featuring disabled characters! Our fic-finding efforts focused on physical disabilities, but we included a couple that feature mental illnesses (such as PTSD) that severely impact the character’s ability to function. We also considered that some readers may not prefer stories where the character’s disability is healed/bypassed via magical methods that would not be possible in real life, so we have indicated which fics include magical intervention with a divider. yeah ofc!! theres a lot of really good superstore fic out there, especially when you consider like the statistical likelihood of there being so many good stories in such a relatively small pool of fics, so ill highlight some of my personal faves and authors who have done a lot of good stuff!!

my all time personal fave is ladder, ladder, on the wall by mamalovesherbagels which takes place before "employee appreciation day" where amy and jonah are fighting about union stuff until jonah gets a concussion. its really sweet while still being realistic and in character, and the cozy domestic scenes of amy just sitting on the couch with her stupid concussed boyfriend are like a fuzzy blanket for me

astronomy in reverse by alljustrunaways is a genuinely fantastic story compilation of simmosa moments!! each story is beautifully written and so wonderfully true to both amy and jonah as characters, we get a full spectrum of content from their early dating days to post-finale stuff and it is all truly incredible, its probably the best writing on this list

for humor freezer duty by obsidiancreates is an unironically brilliant and hilarious story where jonah is a vampire but he thinks he's just bisexual. it always makes me laugh (and ropes in the whole cast which is awesome) and the metaphors and jokes are all genuinely great

in terms of authors: SoySauceFlavoredTidePod ( @swagcoolcat ) has written some really sweet stories (and a lot about mateo and eric's relationship, which is really nice since we don't get a ton of it on the show!!), sandyk has written a ton of stories and a lot of them are great simmosa moments or au's or "missing scenes" that are all great to read, and redivivus has such a great grasp on amy and jonah's dynamic and has written truly great stories about them both
