Hello, Gravity Falls fandom - I’m reaching out to you in a plea of fandom solidarity! Please help us!!!

I’m writing on behalf of The Dead Boy Detectives fandom: our show was canceled in its first season, cut off without a care for its dedicated fandom or its insane amount of potential. Yet another queer, diverse, supernatural show suffers an unfair fate and we’re bloody sick of it! We believe Netflix and Warner Bros. are making a huge mistake!

Could you guys please sign our petition and help spread it by reblogging?

This isn’t just about getting a season 2: we’re trying to get justice for the cast, crew, and writers behind this unapologetically queer show. They had the writers write a season 2 just to cancel the show and, frankly, that’s objectively a slimy thing to do. I believe Dead Boy Detectives is a casualty of its time, that shows cult-clasic, niche shows like Buffy or Supernatural for instance would suffer the same fate today if held to Netflix’s callous and cruel standards and their blatant disregard for creatives.

Lastly, I just started streaming Gravity Falls about two weeks ago and I LOVE IT - I can say with absolute certainty that if you enjoy Gravity Falls, you will enjoy Dead Boy Detectives. The vibes are so kindred it's not even funny: you all need to watch this show. Please don’t let the cancellation deter you, it really is a phenomenal show that will have you laughing one moment and crying the next. The story is really well-paced and self-contained, so there’s no gigantic cliffhanger to worry about either. This show has so much heart, please help us save our boys who defy heaven and hell with their love! 💜

The hues and complexities of the yellows and golds that make up Tango take their cues, Jimmy’s learning, from the sun. Like spun gold—like color-changing yarn—he absorbs the changes in the day with ease; soft, warm, and pale in the morning, bright and eye-catching at the zenith, and sunset…

At sunset he pushes all boundaries of gold to every limit; one last, final rush of color before the day breaks and night takes over and he—for lack of a better word—extinguishes until it rises again the next morning. He’s the shiny thing every magpie longs to hide away deep in their nest, he’s the bioluminescence that powers every firefly on a hot summer's night—he’s whatever chemical reaction makes the goo in a glowstick glow. 

Jimmy was never very good at chemistry—the kind of student left without a lab partner because everyone else preferred to keep their eyebrows rather than let some idiot singe them off; the kind of chemist who followed every instruction to every detail and still managed to create nothing but an explosion in the end. 

He wasn’t any better at the other kind either; the kind of chemistry people used to describe their compatibility with others instead of chemicals labeled poison, danger, WARNING. Past experience left little hope in him performing the reaction right this time—the voice in the back of his head already convinced he was going to be eyebrowless and alone by the end.

But, like a moth, he couldn't resist the intensity and shine of that light; couldn’t help but stare in wonder at the display of such brightness. He thinks back to the stories and lessons of his childhood, and he understands why Sleeping Beauty did it; why she let herself be led to prick her finger on the spinning wheel, knowing it was the one thing she was told not to do—because he would be helpless to do the same if it glowed even half as bright as Tango. 

He feels kind of like that—like he doesn’t have a choice, like he’s purposefully being led here. But he’s never before felt so indifferent not having a say in the matter, so relaxed at nothing being in his control; not when the light refracting off of Tango is warm, and the view so spectacular.

here's my 2023 art summary! (template by CainineThistles) I feel like I've improved a lot as an artist, particularly with posing and backgrounds.

Slight personal ramble under the cut:

I know I posted a lot less this year, and real talk, the back half of 2023 was really hard. I had a lot of mental health struggles, mostly relating to my coping mechanisms. I know I joke a lot about being 'chronically online' but it genuinely was a real problem. I didn't really feel like I was living my life, you know? Not to mention, basically everything I drew and wrote was for this blog. I barely created just for myself anymore. I got so consumed with trying to get my art and fics to blow up, that I kinda forgot why I started in the first place - to just have fun.

Taking time off of tumblr was huge for me. I rediscovered the joy of art and writing all over again, and tried living more in the real world. I got more involved with the people around me, and I even got into a relationship. Being present is really scary, but it also helps. I actually felt like a person for the first time in recent memory.

I guess what I'm trying to say, is don't let those fictional worlds and online numbers consume you. Try to be present and live in the real world more. I know it's cliché advice, but it seriously helped me a lot with le mental health, and there's a whole lot more going on around you than you'd think.

Anywho, here's to 2024!

It’s a bit messy, but I’m finally adding some more to the Ghostalia au with some doodles of Lady Kirkland!

There’s really not much I needed to change between the characters, being from the same countries etc. I gave her 1910′s style glasses and changed her hair to be more remeniscent of nyo!England’s original design while also being in keeping of the era. Also made her gay for the character who her mother references was getting married in He Came! because I can (and I gave her non-existant role to Elizaveta) :)

The story is incredible, the actors are insanely talented... this story means more to me than I can even put into words. You just have to give it a shot - you seriously won't regret it!!!!
