*drags myself out of the hole i've been in for the past few months* take these OMEN redesigns. huzzah.

Was doing a couple o' rereads and decided that the good old OMEN series was on the table. Something stuck out to me between Tyrian running circles around OMEN, and Oscar's comment in Weiss' Intervention chapter. He's wounded by Tyrian, although his Grimmgeneration kicks in almost immediately and heals him right back up. And, according to him during his brief interaction with Whitley, he would've *died* without it. Which, y'know, makes sense considering that a bullet between the eyes would kill just about anyone. I say all this to ask: what's the extent of Oscar's regenerative capabilities? We know that he's without aura, which would've stripped him of almost all of his combat capabilities - though he has an improved skill level with magic and I'm assuming Grimm-Goop empowered physicality to back him up. The latter half of this was especially interesting considering that, well... He *should've* died. Anyhow, I was hoping to hear it straight from the source! Love OMEN and I just got started on your Persona fics.

To answer your question - Oscar’s regenerative abilities are EXTREMELY powerful. He can recover from virtually every injury given enough time to do so. The issue is that depending on the injury, his body will need to use more Grimm to heal it, and the more Grimm used, the more clouded his mind gets. If there’s too much of it, he enters a sort of fugue state, which was why he was so out of it when he was working with Salem. However, it doesn’t really enhance any of his physical abilities beyond the capabilities of a regular Huntsman with unlocked aura, save for seriously slowing down any bodily functions, like not really need to eat or drink nearly as much anymore. As for magical capabilities, the Grimm replenishes any magic he uses, but the amount of magic he has can never exceed the amount he lost. Think of it like having a third of a glass filled with water, pouring that water out, and then ONLY refilling it to the amount that you previously had, no more and no less. And again - like his regenerative abilities, his magic is replenished by the Grimm, so he also can’t use it too much, or the same thing will happen.

This essentially makes Oscar a massive glass cannon in a fight - he’s extremely powerful in the right circumstances, but he has to be super careful in combat, or else he could risk being consumed by the Grimm and potentially hurting his own allies. I always find characters whose biggest liabilities in battle are themselves to be a really fascinating concept, and I think Oscar’s Grimm abilities are a neat reflection of his character in the fic.
