I'm making a fan species for wings of fire called daywings, they're supposed to be the nightwings counterparts. Anyone who knows stuff about the sun past the basics PLEASE tell me

Nightwings powers depend on if there is a full moon and how many of the moons are dull since they're world has 3.

But the sun... Is always there unless it's cloudy. And while I could make it that Daywings just live in very cloudy/foggy environments the moment they leave those environments they are extremely overpowered in my opinion. They're powers consist of seeing the past, illusions, and possibly mind control

I'm trying to figure out what would determine if a Daywing gets powers, what determines if those powers are particularly powerful, and so on.

The total eclipse today. Dublin ☘️ Ohio. April 2024.

Shot with a Fujinon XF 55-200mm with a Tiffen solar filter with a Fujifilm X-T20. I used the Fujifilm app for remote shutter control in live view. To reduce vibration, I set the camera on a tripod on the bed of a rented pickup truck. I parked the truck on the fifth floor of a parking lot. Emotional experience.

or November is 9 months after Valentine's Day and there are just more people born in November in general? I mean c'mon, that's an obvious confounding variable

I’ve lived in the southeastern U.S. my entire life and never thought I’d get the opportunity to experience the northern lights. Back in May, we had the opportunity to see them through our camera lenses with low exposures, but of course I missed it because I’m old (ahem, 27) and go to bed early. BUT I GOT TO SEE THEM TONIGHT. AND WITH MY NAKED EYES.

Anyway. Coolest experience ever. 10/10. Will be planning a trip to Alaska ASAP.

Okay so! A lot of their lore is still in development BUT Cherry Blossom Sys (sunandmoonshow-unofficial) had given a CV AU idea that includes them since I didn’t know what to really do with them after I made the design.

So Lunar does get caught for hurting Solar before the wire incident. Instead of scrapping her completely they try to make her kinder by adding some of Solar’s code to her. However this ends up developing a completely new AI and leaving Lunar unchanged. This new AI is Selenelion (aka Sele)! They’re the best of both Lunar and Solar, good with the kids and cares about their siblings. Lunar now has to deal with having them in her head.

However they’re also very unstable, their code is very underdeveloped and they can glitch severely when in control. These glitches are distressing or dangerous to both themselves and Lunar.
