after years of rewritting and art block finally met MAE FLORES AKA GUMISPIDER

mae also know as mayday (mostly by hobie) is the vigilante of earth 855

their nonbinary and go by they/it pronouns along with candy neopronouns

their very shy when their not gumi but become a more open when they have their mask on

unlike most spider people they accidentally ate a radioactive gummy spider which gave them a mix of candy and spider powers

instead of shooting webs they can shoot out a substance akin rope candy

their body can also stretch to cartoonish levels

in order to do all this tho they have to consume alot of sugar

their 17 and are working part time at a candy shop

they love drawing, making sweets, pirating random music and beating up fascists

they live with their mom their relationship its a bit complicated but they love eachother dearly

their father however......well he's their universes j.jonah jameson....so yea not great-

they don't have really have any friends in their dimension so they spend alot of time in the spider society

in a relation ship with hobie brown

hobie introduced them to oingo boingo and that was their canon event

i didn't draw it but hobie made it a battle jacket

hobie also gave them their septum and bridge piercing

they don't like miguel....like at all

they get along the most with margo since their basically they same person-

their art style looks alot like jhonen vasquez

they can also play guitar but just don't do it often

When I asked you that question three years ago, I didn't expect any sort of reassurance. I expected confusion -- which there was -- and some sort of indignant retort.

But you replied innocently in the smallest voice, your head tilted back a little with your eyes torn from that candied apple.

- Is different?

Now, three years after our falling out, after I swore to forget everyone and live truthfully, I ask you that same question.

"I'm a guy now," I said, kicking my legs mindlessly while sitting on your dorm kitchen counter. We'd cleaned it recently after I'd learnt about the state you were in. The state you were in because of me. "So... Would you still be my friend..?"

"I'm still hung up about what difference it makes..."

"Not much, honestly."

"Then why ask?"

Valid question. I don't really have an answer.

"You looked at me funny when I cut my hair back then."

"... I look at you funny all the time, Sol. I look at everyone funny..."

"Sorry, Kieran."

"We'd still be friends... If you're okay with it."

A hangout. A date?

Off they go but Dogday sees a butterfly or something and gets them thrown off course.

They end up completely lost and run into somebody or...something? That may not have the friendliest of attitudes. Or intentions.

Dogday tries to protect Bobby but he always gets distracted when she scratches his ears. It feels good. Bobby takes charge, and...

De-escalation tactics failed. But this "date" wasn't the worst. Bobby and Dayday do get their ice cream after all.

What in the world beat them up/ what in the world did they beat up? I don't even know. (yet) Not everything on the island is smiles and sunshine.

I headcanon Bobby as a girly bruiser so even though it was a team effort she likely did most of the work.

woah!! new guys for the superhero au?? meet our other two heroes!

dianne zelenov, more commonly known as miss morph, shapeshifter extraordinaire, is a much more well-established hero, having been in the business for years at this point. she prides her identity as a hero, embracing the celebrity that comes with it...and perhaps the most annoying part about it is that it's deserved. she's fought the syndicate multiple times over, and tends to dismiss and treat solarflare as a naive upstart. sol's idealism clashes a lot with morph's more tactical (and maybeee just a bit arrogant) approach to fighting crime, so they nearly always butt heads when they team up, and have formed a bit of a rivalry as a result. though, deep down, morph really does respect sol, and is secretly grateful that sol's there to counter and challenge her worldview: one that's largely become cynical due to all the years in the hero business. NOT that she'd ever admit it.

and you can't possibly mention morph without mentioning felix murphy, her, uh...sidekick? assistant? weird roommate? no one's really sure what to call him, but he's an old friend of morph's who provides help from behind the scenes with his handy-dandy D.R.E.A.M. console. he can provide intel by hacking into syndicate files, keep track of info received from morph's previous battles, contact other heroes if things get dicey for morph solo, and also provide completely unnecessary live commentary via holo-screen while morph fights crime. and, sure, maybe with his tech prowess he could go out and fight himself, but also, are you crazy? he doesn't have any powers! it's way safer for him to provide from the sidelines. he's been doing so for years...and especially so ever since the syndicate popped back up three years ago. with solarflare and kuiper on the scene now, too, will our heroes finally have the upper hand? and what would that even mean for them?

next up...who exactly are the supervillains in this infamous syndicate, and why have they come back after supposed defeat? only time will tell...
