Riki had fallen sick.

(Name) found out from Jungwon after he messaged her about Riki’s condition. Jungwon had asked her to check up on Riki since he couldn’t do so at the moment. After finishing up at HYBE, she hurriedly went to ENHYPEN’s dorms. Upon arrival, she swiftly unlocked the door using the spare keys Riki had given her some time ago. As she stepped inside, she called out his name.

“Ki?” (Name) called, removing her shoes and heading towards his bedroom.

“Is that you, (Name)?” a hoarse voice replied, and there she saw Riki, bundled up in blankets. His usually neat hair was now tousled, and his nose appeared reddened.

“Loveeee, where are you?” he whined, struggling to free himself from the clutches of the blankets to search for (Name). Sensing his predicament, she took it upon herself to help him unravel, and Riki’s head finally emerged, instantly brightening as he caught sight of her face.

“(Nameee)!” He pulled her onto the bed, enveloping her in a tight embrace, showering her face with peppering kisses. (Name) surrendered to the warmth of Riki’s affection, delicately grasping his shoulders.

“R-Riki! Please, stop—Hey!” (Name) protested, attempting to thwart his kisses. Yet, his strength surpassed hers, resulting in a gentle peck on her lips. Finally, exhausted, he collapsed onto the bed, pulling (Name) into an intimate embrace, cradling her against his chest like a cherished teddy bear.

“Well, aren’t you clingy,” she muttered, surrendering to Riki’s embrace. He whined and tightened his grip around her waist, while (Name) responded by gently stroking his hair. Suddenly, she remembered her purpose and made a move to leave the bed, realising she could search for some medicine.

“What are you doing? Stay with me,” he pouted.

“For the love of God, Ki, you need your medicine. I can’t let you stay sick for too long,” she replied, continuing to pat his head as it rested on her lap.

He grumbled in annoyance, then chose to hug the pillow beside him. (Name) sighed at his playful antics and swiftly went to fetch the medicine and a glass of water.

Returning, (Name) found Riki still asleep, his chest rising and falling gently as soft snores escaped his lips. Shaking her head, she decided to lie down beside him, planning to administer the medicine once he woke up.

Riki instinctively clung to her waist, finding comfort with his head resting against her collarbone. In (Name)’s eyes, he resembled a contented, oversized cat. She placed a tender kiss on his head, gently running her fingers through his hair before succumbing to a peaceful slumber herself.

we're halfway through the year already? bullshit.

the past month(s), i noticed how i lacked discipline to do things consistently. i do have the energy to do things, but i do it sporadically. only when i feel like it. sometimes i start a task and stop midway to start another. it's multitasking, but it's not working for me.

this month i'm going to work on my discipline and consistency, make a habit out of things i want in my life and stick to it.

on another note, i put a pause on reading a little life so i can read wideacre by philippa gregory. i loved the constant princess and the way she writes strong-willed, determined, and unstoppable women within a patriarchal society. i've already made so many annotations in just the first two chapters.

im also enjoying annotating books more and reading them based on their more prominent themes. i keep seeing how other readers annotate this way and i wanted to join in. having taken english literature for 4 years (IGCSE and a-levels), i have so much to say about a book i read.

admittedly, i feel like english lit has ruined the way i read for a long time. especially english lit for a-levels. for 2 years, we've been reading poems and fiction by assessing its themes, analysing the pieces according to the context it was written, and evaluating the author's intention. we dissected literature to the point that whenever i pick up a book and read it, i'm dissecting it rather than just enjoying it. i'm trying to undo that with the books i'm reading.

although the lessons i learned from there are important in real life because it has helped me to become more critical and to see how the things authors write about are a reflection of real life (because they are). a lot of books are about people and life is about dealing with people.

but whenever i pick up a book i dont want to read it for the sake of dissecting human behaviour, the choices they make, and the broader implications of its consequences upon society. . i want to see life, beauty, and romance alongside those things.

you kiss his nose, gazing into his eyes. you could get lost in them, the pretty honey flecks in the deep coffee expanse of his irises, the way his jet pupils grow as he gazes into your own orbs. you rest a gentle hand on his cheek, an adoring smile on your features at the brightly ethereal boy below you. he sighs, his eyes shutting slowly as his pretty eyelashes flutter against his skin, leaning into your touch with a gentle smile on his face.

his book is long forgotten next to the spot where he sat, and he laid his head comfortably on your chest, your legs across his own with his hand resting on your thigh. you think he’s fallen asleep, and he thinks he could, but he feels you raise your book to read again, as you gently brush his soft locks with your palm he gazes up at you without moving his head too much, you assume the movement to be him getting comfortable.

but all that’s crossing his mind?

the thought of you in the most gorgeous attire, at the altar, and him slipping the most beautiful wedding ring onto your hand, before sealing everything with his plush lips against yours.

but, that’s for another time. one he hopes comes very soon.

The question took you off guard, made you grow silent as you thought back over it...

"Rarely...Never..." You muttered.

"Exactly! Then you have nothing to worry about! Sunny loves you, Y/n! With his whole heart and soul! Never forget that okay?" Hyugo said with a smile and wink, though you didn't notice it wasn't genuine. If anything, Hyugo was hiding back a frown, or more than just that.

As much as he supported his friend Sol being in love with you, supported his mission to win your heart, to be together. He also couldn't deny, he hated it.

He didn't know when it happened, how, but he couldn't ignore the fact he was crushing on you...No...It was far more than a crush now. Hyugo was in love with you. But he dared not to say it, show it, because of Sol...Because of his best friend.

But if Sol wasn't his friend, wasn't someone special and important to him...

He would of ridded of him already and did everything in his power to make you his.

Yet he forced himself back, helped support Sol get closer to you, to get farther away from Crowe, his rival.

Though Sol was unaware of the many times Hyugo would watch you and him leave together. Usually hand in hand now...Smiling, laughing together. As he felt jealousy over seeing you smile and show joy because of Sol...

But same time, seeing you smile and look happy, it was all he wanted and needed to see too. Even if it wasn't with him.

Yet he still wished, wishes...He could be the one to make that happen for you, make you feel that happiness, joy and love with and around him.

"Hyugo?" You snapped Hyugo out of his thoughts, as you reached a hand out to touch his face. "Why are you crying?"

"What?" Hyugo didn't even realize he was shedding tears as he was so lost in his thoughts over what he was feeling...

Then felt his panic rise over this slip up, a huge one, scared he'll ruin it all for Sol. "O-oh! I just...I'm just so happy for you and Sunny! Who wouldn't tear up over such a cute lovely couple! God you two make me so proud." Hyugo tried to play with the tears now, making a silly show of wiping them away like he was in some drama play.

You couldn't help but lightly laugh at his act and then give him a playful light shove. "C'mon! I was really scared you were upset there! But really...If...anything is bothering you. You can tell me you know? You're a good friend to me Hyugo...One of the best ones I have I feel now."

That hurt. He knew he was just seen as a friend to you, but still, hearing that, it hurt. He should still be happy, yet he struggled. Struggled to smile, but did his best to force it, look convincing.

"You're my best friend too, Y/n. Which is why I only want the best for you, always." He felt his heart ache with every word he spilled, then he heard Sol calling out for you.

You turned away to see him coming, your attention completely on Sol like always now. But that gave Hyugo enough time to turn around and wipe his tears away that were escaping his eyes again. Then took a deep breath to compose himself before Sol arrived over.

For Sunny... Hyugo thought. It's all for Sunny...

Riki had accidentally fallen asleep on his desk, his chin resting on his hand as he softly snores. (Name) can’t help but stare at him; his face looks so serene in his slumber. She finds herself gazing at his lips, contemplating whether or not to kiss them.

After contemplating for what felt like an eternity, she finally decides to lean in and give him a gentle peck on his lips. Little does she know, he has been awake for a while, keeping his eyes closed, curious to see what she would do.

His eyes remain closed, but he can’t contain the blush that rises on his cheeks. He shyly covers his face with his hand, his fingertips tracing the spot where her lips had touched his. Surprised, she stared at him, not realizing he had already woken up.

She stuttered out, “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to wake you up!”

He replied softly, “t’s fine…” His cheeks still tinged with red as he looked at her beautiful face.

“Um... can you... kiss me again?” he muttered, observing her reaction. Seeing her surprise, he quickly added, “I mean, it’s okay if you don’t want to, really.”

To Riki’s surprise, she kissed him again, but this time it was much deeper than the previous peck. His hands instinctively wrapped around her waist, while her arms found their place around his neck.

As their lungs began to burn from the lack of air, Riki reluctantly pulled away, gazing at her while panting for breath. “Pretty..” he managed to say softly. She blushed and was about to respond, but their moment was abruptly interrupted by the ringing school bell, signalling the end of their lunch break.

As they reluctantly parted from each other’s embrace, Riki leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on the side of her head. He whispered, “Love you, my pretty girl.”
