Oh, look. It's the reason I have to go back to the service industry mines instead of finding a way to break into the indentured servitude of a job with a chair and weekends.
Which is fine, of course. I'm fine. This is all completely fine. Absolutely the finest. Never been finer.

when thinking about protective megumi in fushiita i love the idea of megumi agreeing to rejoin the zen’in clan in order to put yuuji under the clan’s protection and keep him safe from the rest of jujutsu society but ofc it can’t be that simple!!!
“The Zen’in rules are that they’ll only protect one of their own.” Megumi clears his throat. “So Itadori needs to… marry into the family.”
“Marry?” Yuuji gapes at him. “But who—”
Megumi gives him a long, pointed look. “Who else?” he deadpans. “We’re getting married, Itadori.”
hehehehe

Shigaraki/Tenko wanting to destroy the false sense of peace All Might and Heroes created
.⬇️.
Shigaraki/Tenko wanting to destroy everything that lead to the existence of that house, which he conceptualizes as the embodiment of rejection and injustice in the world. Be a Hero for the Villains.
.⬇️.
AFO basically literally created that house
.⬇️.
Shigaraki/Tenko helps defeat AFO
.⬇️.
Deku telling him 'you already destroyed it' is... apparently Shigaraki/Tenko having finally gotten rid of the true cause of (his) rejection and injustice? main antagonist's big problem that represents an overarching major issue of the story/in-universe society... solved? (main antagonist's big problem that represents an overarching major issue of the story/in-universe society not actually being the problem he thought it was but now also solved?)
.⬇️.
No longer a need for there to be a Hero for the Villains, Shigaraki/Tenko dies.
.⬇️.
Heroes not to be blamed in the first place. also fuck everyone else and all other 'actual' outcasts I guess.
#i understand that Tenko not having 'supposed' to be rejected doesn't mean the rejection didn't occur for the other League members#but taking that away from Tenko/Shigaraki - leader of the League of Villains - wanting to be their champion#symbolically being their collective grievances and wills condensed into one#taking that away makes the story a lot weaker#GOD what happened#nalslastworkingbraincell#honestly making everything AFO's fault#and making Tenko's main issue being his despair toward himself (created by AFO)#allowed for the (seemingly for now) clean resolution of 'get rid of the both of them' possible#It's AFO's fault? Kill him! Problem solved#Tenko's issue not actually *harm caused by other (non-AFO) people* but instead *harm caused by his self-conceptualization/his own self*?#Tenko's projecting his own self-loathing and anger onto the world and causing trouble for everyone and making his crusade meaningless?#let him die too. Pity but problem solved!#AFO gave him the specific quirk that was Decay because it was such a brutal and deadly quirk that would guarantee rejection#you cannot tell me he could've been fine after manifesting Decay if only AFO wasn't there to tell him he has an innate need to destroy#not after what we've seen of Shinsou and Toga#other 'normal' people would not have let him live a normal life#that *is* also very much a problem that should be addressed#but it was AFO who gave him Decay and Decay was also actually not naturally existing#so everything's fine! no changes for anyone!#all this could've been saved if this was transferred to AFO - AFO also seen as a victim of societal apathy#especially since he was BORN A TRASH RIVER RAT ORPHAN#but he's just a lonely guy who was too unpleasant to form real relationships#so. only real issue Hero Society ever had that needed to be addressed was civilians being too hard on Heroes#gotta love them more and demand less of them#yippee

I'm still not well so this isn't going to be articulate, but I wanted to say something anyway.
In the wake of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (amongst other titles) being purged from streaming I've seen countless posts saying "This is terrible, we need to stop this practice -- they might purge a good show next!" and yeah, for sure a lot of titles being impacted by streaming purges/lack of physical media/a decline in archiving right now aren't going to be remembered for changing the world.
However, I think it is vital that we fight to preserve these titles for their own sake not just because "What if next time it's something we actually like?!" There is value is preserving things widely regarded as "bad" not just because I have firm beliefs about the absurdity of taste, but because who gives a shit if something is deemed "good?" Actual human people put their time and energy into realising these artistic visions. Even if the results are arguably not "good" or "popular", should the efforts of these artists be lost to the sands of time? No, no they fucking shouldn't.
I share a lot of art on this blog from titles very few people consider culturally important or valuabe. However, I don't look at the things I collect & share like that. Even some of the most objectively absurd titles I own are still pieces of art that were developed, published, and consumed by humans in the real world. Whether they've turned out to be broadly memorable or not is irrelevant because they existed and that in itself makes them worthy of preservation so that others can choose to familiarise themselves with them long after the original creative team is gone.
So yes, we should all be trying to preserve the media that's important to us and not let corporations try to stamp out every trace of a financial (though not necessarily artistic) misstep. However, it shouldn't take the threat of something we, personally, like being taken away to stir us into giving a shit.
Even the demise of less admired works should concern us and make us start to burn copies of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies because it might not mean anything to you or I right now, but to some kid in 20 years it could be a seminal experience that leads them to follow their dreams. Or it could become a cult classic that people reflect on at watch parties years in the future. Or it could continue to be a footnote in the history of television that nobody really cares about.
Ultimately I don't think it matters what level of value we arbitrarily assign to media now or in the future, we should be trying to preserve as much of it as possible so that generations from now people can enjoy the option of engaging with these titles should they so wish.

Kiku Thunder
All Appearances: Justice Society of America #3, #5-7
Kiku's mother had emigrated from the island nation of Bahdnesia before Kiku could remember. There, she died in poverty and left her daughter in orphan. By chance, the teenage Kiku met Johnny Thunder, long time member of the Justice society of America and master of the Bahdnesian Thunderbolt genie. Johnny attempted to use the Thunderbolt to help her find more of her people, but it came up empty.
Just letting Johnny and his teammates take a cruise too the nation, now a resort under the control of billionaire real estate tycoon St. Germaine. They bust up the human trafficking and other underhanded operations that the man is using to run the island, but find that he was not lying about it being empty when he got there.
It turns out that the tiny Island simply couldn't sustain its population anymore after a while, possibly because the genie left. They spread out across the world and lost their culture, with only Kiku still considering herself Bahdnesian.
The story ends with Johnny welcoming Kiku into the Justice Society's family. An interesting wrinkle to her debut story is that she was shown to be much better at controlling the Thunderbolt than Johnny ever was. She very quickly understood that it was a genie and could only do what was commanded of it, meaning she had to be very specific and quick. She was set up to be Johnny Thunder's successor just like Jesse Quick was set up to succeed her father in the same series.
Alas, it was not to be. That volume of the series was canceled two issues later and most of the team was killed off or otherwise drastically changed by the Zero Hour crossover a couple years later. When it was relaunched in 1999, the Thunderbolt was accidentally passed by Johnny Thunder (now suffering from Alzheimer's) to a young man named Jakeem Williams. Jakeem was a foul-mouthed at-risk Black youth whose use of the Thunderbolt was just as heroic as Johnny's had been. Being is this was the '90s, when referring to black teenagers as "super predators" was an acceptable thing for mainstream liberal politicians to do, I do you think that was a very interesting idea.
Even so, it is a damn shame that Kiku has never appeared again. She's an impoverished Pacific Islander orphan, the last guardian of her people's culture, whose guardian was diagnosed with Alzheimer's seemingly right after taking her in, whose found family is a bunch of white nen who haven't had a normal life since FDR's second term, and like half of them died around the time Johnny got diagnosed. Pairing her up with Stargirl in the early days of the relaunched JSA could have been fantastic.
