The middle class isn't a thing in America. It is a concept created by capitalist society to describe workers whose labor struggles society can completely dismiss any validity of. But there is not middle class in any material way.

SOLIDARITY IS HARD

But we have to do it anyway!! I'm specifically talking about small things here. Of course, if you have the means, please do everything you can to stand up in this political climate. However, small things like BOYCOTTS can make a difference if we ALL STAND TOGETHER.

Most people are not going to stop going to Starbucks, stop using Instagram, or delete X. But if we make it NORMAL, even TRENDY, to do these things, we can get more of the mainstream population in on this.

When you are surrounded by people who are not as politically charged, who don't want to inconvenience themselves in the name of solidarity, it can be hard to make these sacrifices. IT ALL STARTS WITH YOU!!! This is not going to be easy, and it is not meant to be easy. But we can live with small inconvenieces.

Our brothers and sisters in our countries and around the globe are suffering. We can go without fast food and social media sites that are contributing to their pain.

I'm planning on making a spreadsheet soon of people, places, things, etc. to boycott. If anyone has any resources or wants to help, let me know.

So I was perusing about Reddit, as I do cause I'm normally chillin' in trans and lesbian subreddits just vibing, and I see a post in r/Liberalgunowners talking about Kamala Harris's gun policy. Now, for whatever reason, in the last month, this subreddit has become pretty conservative. Now I went to make a rebuttal against someone saying they wouldn't vote at all cause Kamala isn't a good candidate for gun rights. Now, being a transfemme with a lot riding on this election, I point out this fact and how we can't pidgeon hole ourselves into single issues and how now is the time of putting the good of all Americans first before petty issues. He responds, saying how he's 55 years old and doesn't really care anymore cause he only jas 20ish years left.

I could not fathom this argument. As I am very open about growing up as an indigenous woman and, for us, the community, doing right for all, and providing for the next 7 generations are our paramount values. So to see someone say "yeah this doesn't affect me, so I'ma just care about this one thing for my personal benefit." honestly disgusted me. I am not one to judge most folks since many folks have their personal convictions for believing things... but really? Is this what colonial culture is? This is what killed my people? People who only care for themselves but not their neighbors and community? How could people be so heartless and greedy?

I know this was an emotional piece, but... I'm just... tired of this. Tired of people who benefit from colonial history trying to say that it's good to perpetuate colonial order. Can we, as Americans of all colors and backgrounds, do right by all, especially if you're older... we look up to you as our elders...

P.s If you're my gf reading this, don't kill me for not going to bed at midnight like I promised. I had to get this off my chest :3

Sorry that I'm a downer leftist or whatever but just because the right agreed on killing a CEO doesn't mean they were telling me I'm a groomer who needs to be executed just before this. Class solidarity is more than hating bosses, I agree it's a good start but let's not act like every Left vs Right dichotomy is economically related when a lot of right wingers want to commit acts of violence against marginalized peoples.

left unity? why do you support hierarchy and authoritarianism while you yourself are an anarchist?/genuine question

basically, while i don't support those things, nor do i think that anarchist and non-anarchist leftists should just ignore all ideological differences, i do believe that, on issues where both of our goals are aligned, we should work to form a united front in order to achieve these goals.

imo, right now, considering the social, political, economic and ecological crises we are facing as a species, its just not productive for the left to be focusing on infighting instead of fighting the causes of said crises.

that's not to say that we shouldn't critique leftist theoretical standpoints, provided its in good faith of course, just that even if said unity is only applicable for single issues (e.g. anti-fascist direct action), having more people working in unison to achieve a goal would be a far better way to do so than having 10-20 different organisations constantly at eachothers throats.
