I think people need to be more comfortable with illegalism and I’m not kidding. Of course the more legal something is, the safer and easier it is to do, but the more people who disregard the law, the harder it is to enforce. There are plenty of laws on the books that people just ignore and are never or rarely policed.
Becoming more comfortable with little illegal activities makes you more comfortable with bigger more important illegal activities. Additionally, it is crucial to build a wall of silence. Nobody talks everybody walks.
People who give out food without a permit, hold a march without a permit, grow a garden without a permit, are more likely to be people you could turn to to work with on preventing an eviction, or keeping people out of cop hands, or helping your friend Jane get crucial healthcare when it’s not legal in your state.
Communities comfortable with these acts won’t call the cops, and then nobody knows that it’s happening.
People have got to shift from both the idea that lawful = good/ illegal = bad, and that the illegality of something means that’s the end of it, and the only fight left is to make it legal again.

"Trans men benifit from invisibility", actually we suffer from the intentional erasure of our identities, history, and culture. An erasure, that is violently enforced through the constant assault, rape, and community isolation that we have to endure silently (because if we speak up we are further punished, further pushed out of communities, and silenced harder).

Block people who make bad faith posts about trans women's struggles by saying trans men do not struggle.
Block people who post on trans men's vents by suggesting they don't suffer as profoundly as their sisters.
Block people who try to make you turn against the women and others who make up our family.
Do not allow yourself to become bitter and jealous, protect yourself and you will be protecting our community.

i’m not saying this in a mean way, but i really hope with all my heart that everyone posting about community & loving each other right now is wearing a mask in their daily life !! like that’s one of the most straightforward ways you can take care of the people around you, and keep each other safe!
i know it’s a hard adjustment if you’ve stopped masking for awhile because the government/media has been pushing their propaganda about how covid is mild/isn’t a threat anymore. it’s scary to accept that a comfort you thought existed was just a lie, but we need to care enough about each other to put in the work of unlearning that propaganda. (and if you’re not sure how to start doing that, feel free to reply to this or send me an ask or DM me for help!!)
we need to be brave enough to build community on actual safety measures and concrete support, not just vibes and empty statements about love and community.

actually honestly earnestly we need to put a bullet in the word 'leftist' and roll it off the freeway, contender for the most meaningless political label of the 21st century.

Scars? Not body horror. Limb differences? Not body horror. Facial differences? Not body horror. Feeding tubes, colostomy bags, etc? Not body horror. Movement disorders? Not body horror. Visibly disabled people just existing is not horror.

I was originally planning on holding off sharing this until June, but then decided to hell with that; why wait?
FURTHER RESOURCES:
Intersections: Indigenous and 2SLGBTQQIA+ Identities – this booklet from the Native Women’s Association of Canada is more intended towards 2S folks, but is still a great read for anyone.
Two Spirits, One Voice – This video from Egale is a great, no more comments needed.
A Two-Spirit Journey: The Autobiography of a Lesbian Ojibwa-Cree Elder – This book by Ma-Nee Chacaby can be a difficult and emotional read, but very much worth it.
Becoming Two-spirit: Gay Identity and Social Acceptance in Indian Country – I have yet to read this book by Brian Joseph Gilley myself, but heard positive things about it.
Please feel free to reblog with more suggestions, if you have them!
