I can't find on me to hate Byeong-In because if you think about his point of view that So-yong tried to killed herself because of how unhappy Cheoljong and the palace life made her and how their family made her so miserable at the point to drive her to depression. He had every single reason to hate all of them, and I always felt that it was very ambiguous the way they wrote So-yong feelings towards him. She kisses him back for some seconds till she snaps. She tells him that in her dreams, sometimes her husband looks like him. She trusts him the most and he was the only one who notice that So-bong wasn't So-yong and STILL protected her anyway. His love towards her mixed with how used and mistreated he was by their family although he was a political genius makes all his actions very understanding. They don't know you like I know, youngest minister of War.

Parasyte: The Grey
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Parasyte: The Grey (2024, South Korea)
Director: Yeon Sang Ho
Writers: Yeon Sang Ho & Ryu Yong Jae (based on the manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki)
Mini-review:
I enjoyed this way more than I expected. I was a pretty big fan of the anime that aired a decade ago, so I was worried about this adaptation. But that wasn't necessary: instead of making a simple live-action remake, they tried to approach the story from a different point of view, making sure it could coexist in the original manga's universe (as shown by the very last scene). That being said, this one doesn't delve too much into its themes, opting instead to focus on the horror and action elements. And damn, it does deliver. The action scenes make great use of the parasytes' "tentacles", and they're shot with some stunning camerawork. Yeon Sang Ho's directing fires on all cylinders, more than making up for the pretty mediocre CGI. It also helps that the cast does fantastic job. So yeah, Parasyte: The Grey might not be as deep as it could, but if you're in the mood for a thrilling horror-action spectacle, then you should give it a try.

A great new interview with writer Marnie Dickens, director So Yong Kim, and executive producer Elizabeth Kilgariff about Wilderness!
“The way Jenna works, her process is to take you to the truth of what she’s thinking. She has to play multiple things at one time. People know different things, and that only gets more complicated as the series goes on. The aim of the show is to be heightened but with an emotional gut punch.”
Coleman was the “natural choice” to play Liv, Kilgarriff continues, describing her as an actor who can hold numerous layers of her character together at once – a trait viewers of The Cry will remember.
“I do think that is her genius,” the exec says. “She makes it look very easy – and she’s in nearly every scene in the show. We took her on a mad ride, she embraced it and is so good. I’m excited for the audience to see her in this role. We needed someone who is going to take the audience with her, to fall in love with her, and Oliver is brilliant as well. The two of them have fantastic chemistry on screen, which is really important for the story to work.”
“Jenna is amazing, she’s a master,” adds director So Yong Kim (Dr Death, In Between Days). “There were days, especially later in the schedule, when we’d be covering all six episodes, and she knew exactly where she was in episode four compared with episode two. It was so incredible. I don’t know how she kept track of that. Throughout 75 days of production, she only had one day when she was not needed. But even though it was so demanding for her, she could still be creative and allow her talent to come through.”

how would ga-yeong react to becoming a big sister? 🥺 she has two younger siblings now! (considering gi-hun apologized and patched up with her. it took a while, but they're doing better than ever). also crazy how she has another step-dad now (inho).
grandma geum-ja already showing up uninvited to their house to make nourishing soups, help out in any way she can, and bond with the babies but it's all good 🥹 young-sik says he isn't ready for marriage or children so this is the closest she gets as for having her own grandbabies. also she brings with her three daughter figures too: hyeon-ju, young-mi, and jun-hee 🥹 they're very excited to see the babies as well. hyeon-ju recently took up knitting so she gives gi-hun the cutest & smallest pairs of socks and hats as gifts!
uncle jun-bae and big bro dae-ho in the room making everyone's day even better with their humor and jokes. like real slapstick comedy sometimes, they're such a sweet and funny duo.
subong a.k.a. thanos is outside the house but they won't let him in. no troublemakers allowed!
i think gayeong would love to be a big sister!
(i had to check the wikia rlly quick to see her age and during the s2 games she is 13 (14 in korean age))
she and gihun would need to have a serious conversation tho. i feel like he'd explain certain things, like how he was desperate for money to pay for his mother's treatment and had to do some things to earn it but he couldn't forgive himself for what he did or saw so he decided to pull away from everyone. they would also need to talk abt gihun's mother bc she obviously loved gayeong and gayeong probably loved her in return.
gayeong would understand in a way, bc she seems like a very mature young girl and she is empathetic like gihun, but she wouldnt immediately trust him again. they'd have to build that up again and the truth is that gihun's relationship with inho does bring some stability into their lives, strangely enough.
but yes! she has a new stepdad and a step uncle and a step grandmother even and she really really likes them, but she really loves her younger siblings 💖 those babies are so precious to her and they helped rebuild her relationship with gihun. also, i can see inho kinda looking at gayeong as the baby he lost with his wife (i have a hc that they were having a girl, which adds another parallel to inho and gihun as foils).
everyone from their team in the games would love the babies so much, i agree with everything u said!🥰 and when junhee's baby is born then its like they have triplets since they are so close in age, and you know that daeho, hyunju and geumja would fist fight to hold the babies but thankfully there is one baby for each of them!
and for some angst - i definitely think gihun thought about sangwoo, saebyeok and ali, of how happy he'd be if they were there with him to meet his babies and his new family 🥲

rewatching parts of brewing love while i wait for new episodes and the part in episode 3 of yoon min ju's flashback :( it's heartbreaking but also such a beautiful shot paired with the ost (which i'm obsessed with)...i've been thinking about this shot ever since i first watched the episode. i feel like it's a visual representation of how he will never reach his dad's expectations of who he wants him to be, simply because he is who he is. he's falling and his world crumbled too when his mom died on top of that. i think it's also the yearning feeling? of not feeling enough and yearning to be more of what you're told you "should" be, but also to be okay to be different, to receive love and acceptance because of who you are.
i love all the characters in this show because you can see where their inner scars (which are not fully healed) come from and how far they've come, and it feels genuine. min ju has never been told (except by his late mother) that it's okay to be sensitive just the way he is until chae yong ju tells him; yong ju pretends to be okay when she's not because she's had to deal with so much stuff by herself and grow up overnight, so what other choice is there?; bang ah-reum seems like she'd be the bitchy second lead but she's put a lot of effort into appearing perfect, and this becomes a vicious cycle where she doesn't want to make any mistakes that would ruin that perfect image, and compares herself a lot to others (like yong ju) so that she can stay seeming perfect. and oh chan hwi has some secrets too that we haven't found out yet. i just find them all relatable in different ways, especially min ju personally and I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH i hope they stick the ending
