#so much to love about it

Okay, I need thirty seconds or so to gush about the fact that after another dialogues and engagements with the Veil Jumpers (and sending the griffons to Arlathan) that Davrin basically becomes a VJ after the game. Like he’s a man who is always willing to support a cause with a collective, he seeks community and builds community. Being around Bellara and the VJs make him realize he can have the exploration, the monster hunting, his life’s work, and go back to some resemblance of Dalish living which he longs for.

The fun part about this for me, with my canon rook being a VJ who romanced him, means that “wherever you are, there I am” is emphasized literally (thought this is not faction specific), and for someone like Zen, he’s encouraging her pursuit of academia (I also consider him an academic though, his specialty is monsters, creatures, and animals, plus hunting, so I can definitely see him coaching and teaching the Veil Jumpers, a faction whose members are notorious for getting lost, in danger, or worse, on how to fight and deal with the various things they may encounter. Combat instructor - yes. He gets to keep up with the other Griffons, another win), and while, of course, the Grey Wardens are still around, though their purpose has changed if you do the final quest in the Wetlands with the flowers, it does go into the notion of how they at large or trying to help the world heal. He isn’t turning away from what he promised as a Grey Warden, he’s applying that dedication elsewhere. It’s a battle on a different front now, but his need for community and shared purpose is still satisfied. He continues to be a caregiver, in multiple ways now, that isn’t just limited to the Griffons.

I also just like the idea that moving factions is now fluid. Like because the factions have worked together to save the world, that they’re open arms to anyone because they’ve achieved a degree of shared community and collective. They don’t use this us versus them mentality, but one of togetherness, being unified through similar threats and struggles. And they learn from each other. That’s what building community is all about.
