Hiiii, I hope you have a nice day today. I just read the second chapter and woahhh, it was a mountain of emotions. I love the way you write and how you describe the atmosphere in tense situations.

That moment between the trees I can still imagine it and it gives me the chills. Hahaha

And by the way, a bit of a spoiler ahead: the choices we have during our near death experience will be relevant later in some way? I got the impression that we'll somehow return to a similar situation, a lot.

So ok, hear me out, my theory is that maybe we might have some "magic" in us, maybe even our mere intuition is much sharper than normal, like Willow.

This town reminds me a lot of the "other side" in the Stranger Things series, although somehow this place was "cut" off the map.

It wouldn't be too weird to think that both sides are connected (the real world and this side).

Willow is over there, and knowing our brother, he must already know what happened to us and must be on cloud nine because all his theories and stories turned out to be true. Maybe even the reason he called us right to the cabin was to tell us about this town, the Lake, the Woods and the Mist, maybe he even had proof.

I have an idea that the lake lured us in with a vision of Willow drowning, so, when we enter the water we see Willow safely on the shore because that IS the real Willow.

This kinda way is how the lake and the forest probably catch more people.

In fact, all the missing people in town are people who have tried to leave and escape...our lead is that one surviving girl who has returned, we need to talk to her.

I think we might be able to make a connection with Willow back and forth, or he might make it first. Seeing as Willow hasn't left the scene yet, aaaaand he's the only one who knows what happened to us and how to help us.

Another thing, I'm going for the romance with Ravi, but I swear on my life, I really want to punch him so hard that he wipes that smile off his face. Hahaha 😂

God I just wanted to yell at him to go to hell or shut up. 😭🙄 Like yeah dude, I know you have your reasons and probably a very traumatic experience with this, but that's not an excuse to be an arrogant idiot with us.

Hopefully we can say some things to him when we get back and give him a good smack. 😌

One of the many things that are annoying me about the people complaining about "so-called critics" is that they're either hero stans, dudebros, shippers (esp B*D* shippers) or Bakugo stans. And the latter genuinely annoy me the most. Like yeah so sorry that your fav was saved through the efforts of pro heroes TWICE and even got an awe-inspiring comeback and got to Save his childhood hero™. Yeah you ofc don't care about the story and think we're just being bitter over nothing because AT LEAST YOUR FAV DID NOT MEET A TRAGIC AND MISERABLE END!!! The hero who we thought would die saving you was instead revealed to be doing fine! See he's even growing his limbs back! Ofc you think your fav did not murder a villain (who mind you was pleading for Afo to give back Tomura) because *gasp* my boi can do no wrong!! And even if he were killed so what? Kurogiri's dead anyway! No point in saving a corpse! Instead let's focus on how Deku never ever acknowledges Bakugo for dying twice for him (OH HOW DARE HE!!!)

I do think deku and bakugo might have a talk about this next chapter. Hopefully maybe.

It's insulting how they seem to think we're viewing this story from the perspective of "Western lens" which is utterly baffling and stupid?? Because not everyone is western and our criticism is from a story telling perspective (hello?? themes? narratives? they do exist ya know). We're not someone to disrespect Japanese culture because I guarantee you we're not like that. Like honestly if this story wasn't so insistent on the whole "saving the villains" then we wouldn't be upset. If the manga didn't have Deku say "OFA is a power meant for saving" then we wouldn't have been so hopeful for months (like at least I would've known not to expect anything happy).

Also. Let's be clear. When people try to divide the fandom by saying "western" and "eastern", what they usually, typically mean is AMERICAN. Maybe Europeans are lumped in with "western" also (because most of them they're not eastern culture), but honestly the commentary I see is mostly catered toward Americans.

Which I'm not gonna tell people to not make fun of Americans because lmao. Fair.

But acting like Japan is this enigma of a country for having conservative-like values regarding family units and societal expectations and that nobody outside of it, especially on the western half of the hemisphere, can possibly relate to it is just stupid. Would like to remind that other cultures that are vastly different from the US and share a lot of similarities with eastern culture are on the western half of the globe, idiots.

Not gonna dwell on the details of east and west. This isn't a "east" vs "west" issue. Yes there are people who do not take cultural contexts into consideration, either through simply not being aware or not bothering to research/hear what the contexts might mean. I personally do try to do my best to read what might be normal for Japanese people in the situations portrayed in the manga so I'm not wondering wtf is going on or why.

Disliking this ending has nothing to do with disrespecting Japanese culture. Todorokis for example: sorry but abuse is abuse. Hating the ending the Todoroki siblings were portrayed having is completely fair. Doesn't matter where you're from. Where I feel people need to start understanding why Hori might do something differently, or just shut the fuck up otherwise, is how he handled Rei in regards to her relationship with Endeavor. And the kids toward Endeavor. But saying "damn, that finale is fucking depressing, none of them look happy, there was no emotional release or anything, just damn" is not saying "fuck Japanese culture!" Like lmao.

There were plenty of people explaining that MHA is commenting on aspects of Japanese culture. Explaining how. Also, MHA is not the only manga that does shit like that. I also don't think saying "Wow these character arcs that were strongly hinted at going one way falling flat on their faces and going straight to hell is really shitty writing choices" is saying anything in regards to Japanese culture.

Also insisting that anyone who wanted the villains to be saved is disrespecting Japanese culture or opinions or whatever....I would like to ask where the fuck they think these tropes come from. Naruto says hi. Among others. We're not pulling these ideas out of thin air. They exist, WITHIN THIS MEDIUM, already. And MHA heavily resembles Naruto as is. So yeah. I actually thinkk about this scene a LOT. Because I kinda get it but it also confuses me?? And since I just read another post about it and finally finished reading all the books as well I feel like it's time to write down all of my (maybe obvious??) thoughts. So let's grab a tea and some biscuits and take a look into it. Also I'm curious to see what all of you think about it as well! Let me know :)

Beware: BIG Book spoilers ahead!!

I'll begin with something that I'm pretty sure about: the Lockwood part is just the show’s way of already showing the “Lockwood's gonna die for you”-messages Lucy gets after The Hollow Boy in the books. And that’s SO neat. She already knows how reckless he acts. She gives him shit for it all the time in the show. It's such an important part of the characters and their dynamics and pretty much Lucy's whole drive for the last two books. I love that they already show us a little glimps of that.  

Now we get to the more confusing parts for me: WTF is this complilation? The most obvious connection all of these people have is that they're either dead or dying. But why is Hugo Blake in this? Hugo is alive, right? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Annabel in there instead of him? At least she is dead?

I feel like Pisaeng doesn't care that much because he's got a job in University even though his parents are rich. Like you couldn't pay me lmao to have worked when I was in uni. The only frivolous things he's spent money on are eating semi regularly at a fancy restaurant, arcade coins so he could get a plushie for Kawi, and jewellery so that Kawi could give it to Pear. He could live a similar lifestyle in only his DJ salary.

That he's a DJ is notable. I like to also include Candace, Razor, and Wanderer (I know that one might not make sense but hear me out lmao)

I think Cyno would Candace as a big sister! She gives off that vibe to everyone but I feel like she would be more close with Cyno considering they're both from. Or maybe they knew each other while Cyno lived in the desert. (We NEED more more Cyno lore *sob*)

As for Razor, I think during their visit to Mondstadt Razor would become intrigued with Cyno because of the ears on his helmet (hat?). Also....those two are suspiciously alike🤨 white hair, red eyes... (Cyno has lighter eyes but they're similar) I wouldn't be surprised if genshin pulled a long lost brother thing on us🧍 Anyway, I think they would become close, and Razor would look up to him a lot!! He would start to see Cyno as his "lupical" and I think Cyno would enjoy spending time with Razor, teaching him fighting tactics and so on

And Wanderer (or Scaramouche). I think his bratty mean persona would make him really...hard to be close to. But I think he and Collei would actually be somewhat "friends". I think the traveler would be talking about Collei to Wanderer and bring up her relationship with Dottore which would immediately peak his interest. And maybe he would go to see her to ask her about it, and then they would be able to bond over being victims of Dottore. I think he would gain the role of the "overprotective big brother" and glare at anyone who dare LOOK at her the wrong way. I'm not saying this relationship would be likely, it's just fun to think about!

I also think about how awkward it would be bringing up the time when Tighnari got struck by lightning....

Yes! It seemed like that guy made a lot of claims about what Miu wanted and how she felt that weren't true but that their parents believed anyway. Seeing as Kaito is generally the one who's more hung up on what happened back then (namely that he didn't notice sooner and stop it), it makes sense that that would be why he overreacts to anything that even slightly reminds him of it. If the last time someone tried to tell him they know what she wants, they were trying to manipulate him into letting them hurt her, he wouldn't exactly be keen on letting anyone else get away with it, even if their intentions are innocent.

On that note, hot take but I think that whole situation is also the reason he gets Weird™️about Takuma asking about what he loves about Miu. Cuz understandably I feel like most people's initial reaction to him saying he's not into his sister seemingly unprovoked is "hey what the fuck?" But like,,,in the context of everything they've been through, I can see how being asked if there's some reason he cares about her so much would read like an accusation to him. Like he was being compared to that guy. I mean, it kinda was a weird question to begin with--why would he need a reason to care about his sister?

Aite so like... It's a long post ahead, which is NOT about cat guy. It's about a guy friend I met on Bumble. We'll name him raccoon dude, because he wants a raccoon as a pet. I just wanna see if I'm getting the wrong impression, because I'm getting the vibes that he might like me (and upon telling my friends, they also said the same thing). ...Or maybe he's just really friendly?

To pre-face this, I was still active on those dating apps before me and cat guy decided to just see each other, and I met this guy before me and cat guy became exclusive. I told him straight up that I didn't want anything other than friendship before we met for the first time, because by that point, I knew I wanted to just see cat guy, but I was still on the apps because cat guy was being inconsistent (complained about it on here, too LMAO) so I was still in and out of those apps just in case.

Anyway. I'll try to bullet point why I think he likes me, but why I'm also getting mixed signals:

Why I think he likes me:

We were at the Apple store. I was looking at the green iPhone and was like "I love this colour" and then he was like "Yeah, that colour suits you." So I was like, "Okay, but why does it suit me?" and he answers, "Because it looks nice." So me trying to be playful, I ask him, "So are you saying I look nice" and this motherfucker dead ass says "Yeah." And when I continue to tease him about it, he doesn't say anything but smiles and laughs.

That same day, he forgot his keys, and his roommate had the keys (he has one set of keys) so we went to his home to get it. He let me into his place and we kinda just ended up chilling in his room for hours. I was laying on his bed and using his pillow and everything, and when I went home that night, this man texts me saying, "My pillow smells like your hair mist. It's really nice." And I was like ??? It's funny because I screenshotted the text and recounted the events to my friends and they thought I was talking about cat guy so I'm like newflkewnf

ALSO. I was asking him to unlock his phone so I can use his Spotify and change the music on his Bluetooth speaker, and he straight up showed me his passcode and everything. I asked him if anyone else knew his passcode and he told me me and his roommate are the only people who know his passcode. He also let me scroll through his phone and like... Let's be honest. You wouldn't let a friend do that, probably not even a s/o, would you?

I took a look at his contacts and I'm the only one who has a nickname. Granted, he calls me "Bestie" *insert my irl nickname*, while everyone else doesn't have a nickname. Then again, he had a lot of contacts so I skimmed through the list.

He KEEPS shouting me for things. I'm hanging out with him for his birthday tomorrow and he's literally treating me to this expensive ass buffet which costs like.. $130 per person. And he would not let me pay him back. He keeps paying for things, and when I tell him to give me his bank account details so I can pay him back, he never does. Always says "You can pay me back later" and never brings it up again. I try to shout him where I can but usually he likes to cover the bills.

And get this. He keeps calling me shit like "My love" and "my dear" and "my *insert irl nickname" and he even called my "my baby" at one point, which didn't sit well with me so I told him to never call me that again. He told me calls his friend that and they don't mind it so there's that, I guess.

He compliments me and is overall very sweet to me, and doesn't get annoyed when I'm being flippant with my decisions or being a moody lil bitch.

He also updates me whenever he can't talk, or whenever he's busy and needs to hop off from our conversation for a bit. Even cat guy doesn't do this (not that I mind because I know he doesn't text much, but I'm just pointing that out because like ?? Wtf??).

He'd also say shit like "I miss you" and "I can't wait to see you" and I get that can be platonic but with everything he's done so far... Hm.

Now this is where the mixed signals come in:

There is a girl he likes. It's funny because he doesn't have her under a nickname in his contacts.

He's going through it because of her; she keeps ghosting him, and then coming back, and it's a mess. He wants to confess, but he never does when he says he will, and at this point, I don't know if he ever will. When he talks about her, I can tell he likes her but she also frustrates him greatly.

He met that girl on tinder. It's also funny, because he met that girl on Tinder before he met me on Bumble (like, one to two months before, and by the time we met, he's already been out with her three times or something like that). After me and him met up, he decides to delete his pics on Bumble. His profile is still there, but he's not active on the app anymore. He never deleted his pictures after meeting with that girl but after meeting with me, he decides to delete his pictures? I asked him about it and was like "Did you delete because of the girl you like?" and he was like "Yeah, I guess I did." SO LIKE?? THE FUCK??

I asked him what he wants for his birthday and he's like "My dear best friend, stay by my side for the rest of my life. That's what I want for my birthday."

Man calls me a friend but then does all of that and I'm like ?? SO. WHO DO YOU ACTUALLY LIKE?? To be fair, you can like more than one person, but I'm out here like if he does actually like me then I'm gonna be so KLNESLKFNEW because 1) I told him from the start I liked someone else and, 2) CAN I GET A GENUINE GUY FRIEND, damn.

He JUST sent me a meme that says "Me and my homies entering 2024 without achieving a single thing in 2023" with an image of the Tom and Jerry making their merry way across the street, and I'm like "You did achieve something - becoming my bestie" and then he's like "That's the best part of 2023." And I'm like, "But wouldn't meeting the girl you like be the best part?" and he completely dodges my question. SO. THE FUCKK.

We were talking about his new roommate who's moving in tomorrow and I was joking about how I wanted to meet him and shit and man sounds like he's dissuading me from meeting the guy so I'm like... Huh. Not that I want to meet the guy after what he's been telling me but yeah lmfao.

And my friends are like "he likes you, doesn't he?"

And I told my manager about how I'm going to the expensive ass buffet for his birthday and my manager was literally like "...That's a good friend you have 👀" and I was like lknewkfnew GIRLLL-

In the top 10 heartbreaking moments of the show, we have absolutely got that part where - after Lugad shows up - Rohan's waffling on whether or not he can fight him, and when Angus says something like, "You're comparing Lugad to the family that raised you," Rohan's like ":( u don't understand, he's my brother" and runs away.

Literally the whole show is Rohan or Angus going on and on about how long they've known each other, actually using that to break the Enchantment Of The Week the one time Rohan gets all scared of everything, and throwing that in both of their faces during that episode where Angus gets framed and Rohan's accused of lying to cover for him 'cause "isn't it true you'd do anything to help him" (lmao no random village-lawyer man, it's the other way around 🙃).

But the whole show is also very, very careful about having them call each other their best friend exclusively. It's like a hard line drawn between that and between Rohan whining about wanting to know who his family is (also kinda throwing it in Angus' face in the episode where Rohan says, "I'd use a wish to find out my family is"), so - like... you'd think it wouldn't be such a surprise to anyone. They also fight all the time because "Punching someone in the face is an excellent way to break through spells 💖" and "Rohan wtf did you say to him now"

Buuuuut Rohan doesn't meet his family until the end of the show, so those two talking about 'best friends' basically means 'brother' until Lugad shows up and they finally have something to compare it to. And the second after that comparison's made, Rohan downgrades everybody else in his mind. Particularly Angus.

It just says a lot that Rohan's an orphan who was adopted by a druid (and by Angus first lmao #Rohan's Primary Caretaker) and never shuts up about wanting to know his real family, and Angus - who is ALSO AN ORPHAN but wasn't taken in by anyone who wasn't a guard dragging his ass off to jail - never mentions wanting to know his 'real' family even once.

... 'cause...

It's Rohan.

Obviously.

So right up until the point where Angus asks Rohan, "Dude, you know you've got us, right? Like we've been the people raising you this whole time. We're your family. Specifically me," it's like Angus was always fully confident in how Rohan saw him 'cause he just assumed it was mutual, especially when Rohan is all Angus has and we see him endlessly demonstrating it (to the point of Angus solo-taming a dragon mid-argument-where-Angus-was-absolutely-correct-to-be-pissed-at-Rohan to go rescue the guy and later being like, "Cathbad's magic wasn't enough to help Rohan in today's episode, so I'm gonna go yell at King Fin Varra WHICH IS ORDINARILY A BAD IDEA 'cause I'm not gonna let Rohan live cursed by whatever-the-fuck Maeve did to him this week")...

... and Rohan shatters that by effectively saying, "That's nice, dear. Hey so this guy who showed up five days ago, and that I found out was my half-brother two days ago? He now means more to me than you, who - and I cannot stop joining you in emphasizing this every episode - I have known for pretty much my entire life, even before I met Cathbad and was definitely relying on you to keep us alive 'cause I'm too hoighty-toighty to be a thief even if I was starving, and we 100% were starving back then because you still eat like someone who never had reliable access to food. actually who even are u lol ew go away"

I mean, in the show, Angus just switches to being like, "k cool i'm gonna go crash garrett's car into a tree for fun now," but Rohan said that to his *face*.

Look, when you made a point of specifying the level of peppers for this chapter, my mind thought of a million things that would have happened in this chapter (when I realized she was on the counter I really thought he was going to kneel and e@t her out. I'm still waiting for that btw), but gurl I would never guess they were going to do that. At one point I remembered Regina's line in meam girls "I was half virgin when I met him" and now I feel like I know what regina was talking about now lmao. Ellie is 98% virgin now. (And I have to tell you ma'm, reading a 🌶️ scene of the forbidden ship with some Rock song playing is another experience. I bet he would've made her 0% virgin if there was some Rock Or Metal playing on that bathroom, he wouldn't have held back).

Joel mentioned Tommy and him are back on talking, bit that hey haven't gone to an understanding. Can you elaborate that? I really wanna know what is stopping them, specially from tommy's part.

Also, I love how ellie didn't even asked him properly, just gave him an idea but he was already like "yes, anywhere you want". He was so willing to leave. He didn't even think twice (which is good, if you think about some angle. Now they can make any noise as loud as they want without neighbors 🤭 okay I'm gonna stop now). She could ask anything at this point and he would make it come true. He could drop anything for her and you're talented in expressing that in your writing. It makes me wish I was pretty so someone could fall in love with me like this, as intensely and unconditionally as the way you describe joel's love in your stories.

I wonder what marlene and riley's comenack will do. I mean, I'm almost sure there's gonna be some tension in the air when they all reunite because like, she and riley had a thing (innocent and not official, but still a thing), and even a possible beef between riley x joel x ellie, maybe riley would also think he's a dirty old man with no morals and ellie throwing in Riley's face that she left ellie in the past. Marlene, though, is the deal I can't decipher. Why is she going to ellie? I mean, it's gonna take some good affort to convince me she's after ellie for pure emotional reasons. Does she knows ellie can be immune somehow, is that why she's going after ellie? You don't need to answer tho, I just wanted to say everything that comes to my head. All I know is that they all are gonna see how the world is small after this reunion. I mean, What would lead Joel to think that the woman who was his brother's boss for a while is Ellie's mother's best friend? (That even makes me wonder of a "what if" in my mind. how things could have been if any of the millers had contacted ellie earlier through maria in an alternative version of this story. That probably never happened but I really like thinking about past and future and all of that. Blame all the time travel movies I watched lol).

Hello sweet cub - it’s been a week and a half over here, and it was a holiday week! This school year is already kicking our rear ends and September just started.

Learning to Walk and Joellie discussion under cut

Let’s start with David and Jackson - this is not over. 100% this is not over - David is a plot device, and keeping him alive serves a purpose. Trust and believe, I had his 💀 written - WRITTEN - and decided to keep his sick ass around for another day (another chapter, another story - remember I vaguely mention a trilogy?). Maria needs to check herself - because if she doesn’t, she’s going to wonder how she lost her husband, because Tommy is waking up (growing up?) and he’s gonna play a role in where we’re going too. I said earlier that Maria won’t make a 180, but she does need to rethink what it means to be living at the end of the world - old world laws don’t work anymore, and neither does Joel’s idea of justice (it does, lol but it doesn’t).

Mama cannot promise to not bitch about writing spicy scenes, lol - they’re hard for me to write, that probably won’t change. However, the more I write, it does happen faster, which is progress for me. And… well, we’re about to send Joel and Ellie off on their on for awhile and… you never know what might happen when they’re secluded up in the mountains with no electricity and only each other for company - winter is coming, cubs. 🌶️🌶️ and our “almost virgin” will get her moment - I promise, I’ve already plotted it out - and Joel teaching her some other 🌶️🌶️ stuff, too - just saying.

Tommy and Joel have a tumultuous relationship at best; and Tommy wants that relationship but he doesn’t know what that would look like. Joel has kept to himself a lot, and promised Tommy he would make an effort after Austin was born, but now that he’s clearly chosen Ellie, where does that leave Tommy? Resolutions and a glimpse of what their future will looking like are coming - think boys sitting around a campfire, I have an idea.

Joel choosing Ellie without even thinking - go listen to Post Malone’s “Hide My Gun” - it could go either way with Joel or Ellie asking the other to not ask questions, just hide my gun, but in this case it’s Ellie asking him “would you pack and never-coming-back-again bag?” And the answer is - “when are we leaving?” Not why, not how, just when. Honestly, I think if Joel could, he would find somewhere else for them - he would put her in a truck and drive her off into the sunset. Also, sweet cub, being pretty has nothing to do with loving someone unconditionally 🩷 Joel was shot by this girl, and he still loves her and has made it clear that regardless of their relationship status, he will drop everything and run with her.

I was very vague about Riley - I think she was mentioned two, maybe three, times in the whole story. But Ellie does tell Joel that she cared about her, and then Riley left - hence Ellie’s abandonment issues, right? Riley’s return to Ellie’s life will cause problems (Marlene too, but for other reasons) - a sense of “I’m back, let’s pick up where we left off” which is the kind of vibes Riley gives off - IMO - especially in the show. There’s going to be some canon parallels with both Marlene and Riley, and I don’t want to give anything away - but there’s going to be an adventure coming for this universe. But in essence, Marlene is pissed at Riley for “not securing Ellie” - because everyone in Marlene’s circle is always passed off, including her best friend’s daughter - Marlene expected Riley to close the deal on Ellie, because she didn’t bother to raise her, but she knows Ellie is smart and talented and would have a place in the Fireflies revolution. That’s pretty vague and doesn’t give much away - and I’ve been asked about Ellie’s immunity in this universe before and I won’t give that away either - gonna have to stay tuned for Part 2
