If Jax goes full abstract (before like it can be stopped) then I definitely believe the plot point will be to figure out how to undo it/reverse it either before it becomes permanent or it’ll be something that brings everyone else back too (the latter seems likely given the recent focus on the abstracted doors)

He is fine with the physical contact, then something switches in his brain and he physically reacts. He pushes her away, he is angry at himself for getting close to her. She is visibly confused and possibly upset at the shove. He sees this and his face goes from angry to a realization of "What have I done?" before he looks down at his hand.

He realizes in that last frame (to me) that he pushed her away on impulse- out of self preservation based habit- But he didn't want to. He had to.

I know there isn't much of a difference between the 6th and 7th image here, but when in doubt look for likes under Jax's eyes!! If there are bags present, he is upset or sad. Very subtle change sometimes ^_^

Okay Tougen Anki is a bit weird because yes, for the first two arcs, it’s beat for beat Blue Exorcist. After that, it takes a more emotional beat. It’s a shonen that’s building up it’s MC to be a doctor or support character. So it props up a lot of pro-social behaviors(like most shonen but even more focused), it has a lot adult characters rather than a bunch of kid ones, and it’s fun.

It has it‘a flaws but it’s a good time!

I’ll give it a shot. I’m a few chapters in and yikes it’s really Blue Exorcist

I maybe wouldn’t be offended if I wasn’t such a big Blue Exorcist fan. I also consider Blue Exorcist to be rather emotional, like in a lot lot lot of ways, but I guess I’ll see if there are enough differences for me. I really really like the art style so I’m inclined to keep going.

I gotta say tho, on another note

I would expect a teenager to have a wall full of assault rifles in their bedroom in America but not Japan?? Can someone explain pls lmao wtf 😂😭

I was hesitant to start Tougen Anki because the summary was basically identical to blue exorcist

I got input saying it was fun to watch/read but that it took literal scenes from BE and Naruto and just redid them…

Just read the first chapter and fucking yikes it really is the same (not greatly replicated either)

Not super thrilled but the art is good enough for me to keep going and see what it has to offer
