(yesssss i finally get to share my headcanons ahsjfjhsj)

mikey prefers painting but he's tried his hand at most art mediums. he did that thing artists do where they study paintings and such and try to recreate them to practice.

(on the side, he's DEFINITELY an art history buff. it started first because he liked studying renaissance art but he eventually grew fairly passionate about it.

you ask him about any period in history, and he’ll tell you all about the art and architecture style of that period, the most notable and less famous artists of that time, the WORKS.)

the first artist he ever studied was michelangelo, since obviously he’d be the most fascinated by the one he was named after. he BEGGED for art supplies every birthday because he wanted to try a bit of everything. (sculpting, he discovered, was not his favorite). this was rapidly followed by donatello, leonardo da vinci, and raphael (obviously azsjhjdkdk).

he gifted each work he copied to his brothers. he's like. around 10 or something, Does Not know what he's doing except that he's having a good time, and most of his creations come out sloppy and fairly terrible.

(his brothers all kept the gifts by the way. he spent time making those and honestly? even if it looks NOTHING like the original, it's about the thought behind the gift. raph absolutely cried when mikey gave him his gift and explained who the original painter was)

(ignore that it's technically two headcanons, they basically go hand in hand so i'm counting it as one)
