How do I Sim?

I do use mods, but I still consider myself a Vanilla player. I mod my game to add difficulty, depth and fix things EA can't be bothered about and remove as many of the BS annoyances and immersion breaking things from the game as possible. I sometimes test more extreme gameplay mods, but rarely stick to them long term.

For my gameplay I use some skill overhauls like Srsly's Cooking overhaul, tons of custom foods and harvestable for my gardening and cooking obsession, custom crafting mods etc.

I sometimes use CC for both CAS and BB for my gameplay, but when I build or create Sims to share with others I usually disable my CC and non-essential mods.

I have my likes on Maxis Match CC. Nothing against alpha, just not my aesthetics.

I do play with all the packs and kits - usually except for the latest content, I never update my game until major EA's f-ups are either fixed or fixable with mods. Not after HSY update destroyed my game completely.

Sometimes I limit myself on the pack usage, sometimes not. Depends on my mood. Remember you can always download any Sim or build, items will be missing or replaced, you can restyle missing parts with packs and CC you own.

When I create my Not-So-Random Townies and Households to replace game generated ones I always give them love: jobs, skills, education, glimpses of personality. They have short backstories to give them purpose in the Sim World and inspire a gameplay. I want my Sims to meet interesting Sims, not just ugly, unemployed randoms.

I may be dropping Not-So-Random Townies packs of 8 Sims with skills/jobs/degrees/skills to place them in your game to slow down a little generating random uglies and use more pre-existing Sims instead.

I don't care about original TS4 townies, I lately deleted them all and create Townies from the scratch for my save file. Don't look for Bella Goth here.

I might post builds later after they are playtested and polished up. My builds are not overcluttered, but decorated. I love to decorate with clutter but tiny, cluttered spaces are often unusable and contribute to Sims being stuck, too many items slow down the game. It also increases the number of packs used to build. If you like more detailed, cluttered builds then it's not really my style. I adore looking at them, but find them impossible to play.

About me?

I'm just a Random Townie, your average Simmer. Not a great builder, neither talented storyteller. I play many other games than TS4 (I love survival-crafting-building games, my other regular game of choice outside of difficult relationship with the TS4 is No Man's Sky).

I played TS1 when it launched as a 13 yo. Go figure how old I am. I skipped TS2, but played TS3 for years and loved it. When TS4 released in 2014 I got it and I hated it. I was playing TS3 exclusively until memorable 2020. I thought after 6 years that might be playable now. Little that I knew..

But I stuck to it, so I complain but play. It is what it is, right?

I'm an expat from Central European country living in Portugal. I have 3 cats.

English is not my first language, though I use it daily for 7 years and my brain often thinks in English instead of my native language, I do get lost in the grammar sometimes. Correct my mistakes if they're bothering, I'm always happy to learn since it is my main language on a daily basis.

I created that Simblr to help me fight my mental health issues and have a creative hobby. I tried many things that didn't work out long term, but one thing I always come back to all these years is The Sims games. So I thought - why not?

Made a crochet lace-top! Wheee

Okay so for a little while now I had been thinking about what a cute outfit it'd be to have like a nice button-up/t-shirt with a mesh top underneath it, so you could see the mesh on the arms and the neck etc etc. And yeah, I could buy a mesh top from some alternative fashion brand (Restyle comes to mind), however most if not all of those are made of plastic and are like, full upperbody suits. Also they would be expensive. And no matter how I thought about it I could not come up with an excuse or a justification to buy a piece of clothing that expensive that 70% nobody will ever see because it'd be underneath other clothes, when all I really need is like a crop top (also it'd be just a little bit too expensive for me to feel good about DIY'ing it and cutting it into a crop top). And the plastic too, my Eternal Hangup.

So, I did what you always do. I decided to just make it myself.

Yup, it's a crop top. Not much to note there, I just looked up some lace crochet stitches until I found one I liked to make the top in and just bullshitted one together. I did struggle figuring out how to make the collar part because I did want the neck to be fitted, but also my head had to like, fit through the hole so I could actually wear it. So what I ended up having to do was leaving a slit in the back that I have to lace up and tie together with some ribbon. Not a big deal by any means, but yeah the way I did it looks a bit messy and rough (but it's in the back so it's fiiiiiiine) Also I made armpit holes lmao. No need to get the alpaca yarn sweaty and stinky

So the yarn I used is Katia's Alpaca Lace, which is 70% viscose and 30% alpaca (color 89 (black)). I hadn't actually gone and bought this yarn for this project in particular. When I was preparing to start the bleeding heart sweater I realized I didn't have the right size knitting needles for it, which meant doing some shopping. And while I was at it I just needed a little bit more shit in my shopping cart to get the free shipping (you know how it is), and when browsing for something to add I came across this yarn and absolutely fell in love with it, so I ended up grabbing some. The yarn is absolutely stunning, it is so soft, the viscose tube is like this beautiful white/silverly color with black alpaca fibers blown into it, it is GORGEOUS and so shiny. But also.

The structure of the yarn also made it an absolute NIGHTMARE to work with. You know how people warn others about working with mohair because the loosey-goosey fibers will stick to each other and make unravelling/frogging a project a gigantic pain in the ass to do? Yeah, I haven't worked with mohair, but based on the experience I had with this I'm pretty sure I never want to try mohair now lmao

Now to be fair, the main issue was that I was bullshitting this crop top together all willy nilly. Which meant that I had to undo and redo almost every section of it anywhere at least once, if not multiple times, because that's how I was figuring out how to make the top fit the way I wanted it to. Hell, on my first attempt I started by crocheting a whole sleeve and the neck piece, only to decide I wasn't happy with how I was making it, so I restarted completely (this time doing the torso of the top first, bottom-to-top). And I am not joking when I tell you that frogging the first sleeve and neck piece took me literal days to do. I had to use a freaking seam ripper to get the job done, it was that hard (like it was the only way to help the alpaca fibers get untangled, though I still had to be extremely careful so I didn't damage or rip the viscose tube) So had I known what I was doing from the begining, I would've had a much, MUCH easier time with this project. The yarn itself is wonderful to crochet with, frogging it was horrible.

And so I do want to give out a warning to anybody reading this; if you wanna bullshit a lace crop top together, go for it, just use a yarn that's easy to unravel. You ARE going to make mistakes and using smoother yarn will make your life easier and the project go by much, MUCH faster

But, I'm glad I stuck to it and didn't give up, because I am absolutely over the moon with how this top turned out. It's so comfy, shockingly warm actually, and it looks so cute. I'm so delighted with it

My only regret is that because the yarn has this gun-metal sheen to it, I don't think I'd wear with anything BUT all-black clothes. I had been hoping to wear it with a button-up shirt, but I can't 'cause the shade and color absolutely does not match the one and only button-up in my closet right now (the Mollymauk/CritRole one, which is a statement piece on its own. As you can see they absolutely clash and do not go together at all lmao)

So I do wanna make another one, next time in a plain black yarn so I can wear it with other colors maybe perhaps (/I just need a plain black button-up) (A white one could be really cool too....... And a red...)

Not much else to add here. The construction of the top was simple once I figured it out. I just made a band that goes around my torso, made it long enough to cover most of my chest, then separately crochet'd the front and the back of the top that I then attached at the top. Then I crochet'd the neck piece directly onto it (instead of making it separately), followed by the shoulder pieces that turn into proper sleeves after getting far away enough from the armpits. The lace pattern itself can't be adjusted much/at all, so to keep the top fitted (especially in the sleeves) I occasionally had to do these little decorative rows where I would cut down the stitch count, before going back to the lace stitch with fever repeats. Like I said, took some mathing and figuring out to get the fit right, but it worked out in the end!

Here's my sealed work on my repainted Ken Looks number 5! I'm super happy with him. The only problem is his under-eye area turned out shinier than I was hoping. It was already like that before I sealed the repainted work with a few layers of MSC matte, and a single layer of MSC gloss. Otherwise, I am happy with all other areas of his face after sealing. I like using a light layer of gloss in-between, because it adds a nice "dewy/human-flesh-like" finish to my more "realistic-ish" repaints. However, I am not sure why it looks hyper shiny at the chin and under the eyes. Although, it was already like that before I sealed the work, as I said. I didn't expect to look like that after the layers of MSC matte. I don't mind it IRL too much, particularly the chin. But those under-eyes...

I might have to mask-off all other areas and add a layer or two of more matte fixative. I don't want to completely dull all the rest of the face, as I am happy with how it looks IRL otherwise. Just not super excited of how those two areas photograph. We'll see...

I took a lot of crappy repetitive photos of him; I am super happy with him now. Not the repaint work as I always feel I could have done a better job. I'm just in-love with how he looks in general, now. I like more realistic-ish looking repaints, and this is definitely a lot less cartoony than my last repaint work on him. So, I am happier for that reason. I do find this head sculpt extremely beautiful, otherwise I wouldn't have purchase one, let alone two (to customize one). I wasn't happy with the default chin, brow-bone and lips sculpting, so I modified the brows and chin a bit during my first repaint on him, back in 2022. I forgot about those when I repainted him a few days ago, so I just did a quick softening of the chin once again, but I thought I could have sanded even further. However, now that he is sealed and "finished," I feel like I don't mind the chin so much anymore. It is a pain to have to paint it to look the way I want it, instead of it just being the shape and size I want it to be. However, I don't mind it anymore. I am happy to leave him like this forever!

I say that now, watch me redo his face paint and mods once again in a few years. Lol! (; I am in love with this Ken, even if I am a crazy old fart who wants to mod and repaint things a million times over! I only wish I knew how to re/style hair a tiny bit, so I could try different hair styles on him. Or, that I was willing to re-root or shave him. I hate re-rooting dolls, and I like his hair style as is, a lot. I only wish I could restyle the hair, from time to time! I'm also petrified of doing anything because his flocking keeps falling off all over the place! That's what's on his face on some of these photos at his chin and lips. In case some of it is visible, I kept blowing it off his face, only to find more a few seconds later. I keep his hair in a plastic wrap "hat," to keep the hair from getting messy, but I don't know if that's the reason for the flocking to be coming off all the time, or if it's just a natural thing with flocking. I don't own that many flocked things that are unboxed -- or that I handle at all! Last four are from my older than dust phone, because it takes slightly better, hyper-washed-out photos, the newer likes adding a pound of noise and they are always dark as the dickens, which I would love, if it wasn't for the extra-crispy pixels. DX

WiP - Bookman Jr - Jacket Pt 2

Here we are again and I have results for you, for some quick cosplay mock ups scroll to the bottom =)

So the last issue was the collar didn't fit, I had removed it again and over night I decided I should see if the pattern was wrong and if I need to remake the body of the jacket. But as I compared the pattern... there were just tiny differences. Then it hit me: the seam allowance, I had added more and it was indeed the big issue here, it added too much bulk and the fit was ill, the collar too short and all that.

Here is the collar before sewing and after sewing, it finally fit! I really had feared that I needed to fully remake it.

Now I was able to attach the closure, this time with A LOT of checking inbetween if the angle was right or not.

So here is the finished jacket!

Another detail was left and I was looking very forward to it...

The bird clasp!

I was itchy to craft and not sew again. I decided to go for EVA Foam and burn the marks into it instead of building it in layers.

I went for gold with a very used look for the clasp, I think it turned out pretty nice.

So here is the finished cosplay! The top and pants will be from other costumes not sewing white pants again nope.

Here is a very quick and dirty cosplay test! I need to restyle the wig again I am not happy with the new braid I did after the connichi.

hello!! i just found your video on the wire braid for the tangled the series doll and i was SO happy to see you’re still active 🥹 I casually collect tts merch and just today i received the winter playset secondhand….All things considered rapunzels hair is in pretty good shape, but i wanted to know how it worked just to be sure since its still a little loose + dirty and if i could eventually be confident enough i’d like to give it a good wash and redo it. But because they’re so rare nowadays im really worried of doing anything drastic because i don’t want to ruin them….😭 So i’m leaving her as is for now but knowing just how the wire is tied in and everything is SOOO so helpful.

It’s so hard to find info about these dolls at all so i was wondering if you had any idea what material their hair is made of…? 🥹 Cassandras hair is REALLY sticky and crunchy even after a few washes and i really want to restyle it but i don’t want to do anything that might mess it up. Also, this may be a silly question, but do you think it’s possible to redo rapunzel’s braid while keeping the wire in? I don’t mind removing it but i do like how posable it is. Im assuming its not possible but i thought i might as well ask since it seems like you’ve gotten to customize them a few times.

Rapunzel's hair is nylon and I think Cassandra's is too. Rapunzel's braid could definitely be redone with the wire still attached. But, the beads depend on the elastics to stay in place. The beads are just strings of beads, they are not a complete circle- if that mskes sense😊 So, a mental note of how they unwind will help in recreating their original position.

Storage and Display

How I store and display my dolls! I’ve gone through a lot of iterations over the past several years, but think I’m finally happy with my system.

This setup in my bedroom works well for me for a couple reasons: The dolls are somewhere that I am regularly (making them easy to play with), I have some display space but not too much (visual “noise” quickly overwhelms me), and there’s storage for props and dolls not currently on display. I hope that my hodgepodge-but-very-functional dolly space inspires you to work with what you have (or can get for free or cheap) and create a space that serves you and your collection!

This is an older picture, but the basic look remains the same.

This IKEA Trofast unit and rainbow drawer cart are the heart of my storage and display. I have a few dolls elsewhere in the house, but this is where most of the action is.

In the Trofast (left to right)– 1 bin: Fabric (for making clothes and backgrounds) 2 bins: Stuff for hair rescue and restyling, plus random craft things and props. 3 bins: Dolls! Top bin is Monster High, then Barbie & OMG, then Rainbow High. I know best practice is to store them de-clothed and wrapped in tissue, but I cycle my dolls around so much that I’m not really worried.

On the Trofast (left to right)– Funguary dolls! Random dolls I had out before Feb, that I haven’t bothered to put away. Hardware box holds shoes.

Rainbow drawers– Clothes, little accessories, and stands. Top three drawers are RH, then MH, then Barbie, then OMG. I’m realizing in writing this blog post that I should make the order of the clothing drawers match the doll bin order.

OMG clothes — this is basically what all the clothes drawers look like. Separated by franchise (/size) but then just thrown in haphazardly. I may try binders with vinyl sleeves/cd sleeves for clothes at some point. The idea of being able to flip through the pieces (instead of dig through a drawer) really appeals to me.

I also use one of my under-bed drawers for project dolls/doll parts, and half my dresser is for craft supplies, larger dolls (like American Girl), and some larger props (bathtub, barbie bike, etc.). You don’t have to buy anything fancy; I use these furniture pieces because I had them already or found them cheap. The Trofast was a hand-me-down from a friend. I only recently bought the matching pink bins; for a long time I just used random plastic tubs in it. The rainbow drawers I found at a thrift store several years ago for $12.

1. Which doll was your first doll?

As an adult (and a kid) I wasn't really into dolls, though I did like to look at the Monster High Dolls. In 2012, I was in Toys R Us and I saw Novi Stars on the shelves and fell in love. I can't remember which ones I got first. Either Una Verse or Ali Electric.

2. Which doll do you consider the first doll in your ~collection~?

Previous answer for Novi Stars. My First Rainbow High dolls were Harley and Zooey. (The reason I looked at RH in the first place was because of Zooey's Novi Stars merch.)

3. Do you keep any dolls in box?

Not as a habit. I like taking the dolls out to play with them. If they're in box, it's mostly because I haven't gotten around to opening them yet.

4. Are there any dolls you restyle over and over?

I have only been open to the world of restyling recently so I'm still on the first restyle for a lot of my dolls.

5. Which doll restyle/custom was the most fun?

My only full restyle as been RH Karla. Though I have plans for others. It takes me a while to get to them.

6. Which doll restyle/custom gave you the most trouble?

I had a heck of a time with Karla's skirt. The material was very thick and not meant for doll clothes. I had to remake it a few times.

7. Which doll lines do you collect and when did you start collecting them?

Currently, it's just Novi Stars and Rainbow High. Though I do keep eyeballing Monster High. Looking at Ebay prices always makes me change my mind about MH. But the new Lagoona is so cute! I am very tempted to get her. Especially since I learned the G3s have chest articulation. I wish RH would do that more.

8. Which doll does everyone else seem to love, but you just don't vibe with?

I bought the Storm Twins because I saw several reviewers that said they were must have dolls. I like them okay, but not as much as I thought I would. Though that might change when I style them.

9. Do you have a grail doll? Or is there a doll that's coming out soon that you're really excited about?

Grail dolls are Novi Stars Doe a Deer and Carmella Sweet. They are unobtainable with the prices they go at, unless I suddenly become independently wealthy.

There are several new RH dolls coming out that I am eager to get my hands on. The Madison twins release looks so good. I never thought I'd get a Sunny or a Luna, but I will be happy to have both.

10. Is there a doll you consider your "mini me"?

No. Some people have doll versions of themselves, but that's currently not a goal of mine.

11. What's the best part about doll collecting to you?

I never thought of dolls as an extension to express creativity before recently. But seeing other people do restyles and make doll clothes stirred the creative in me and I wanted to try. So far, I'm having a good time. Though it takes me a while to get to things. Also, they're just pretty to look at and they bring me joy.

12. Do you display all your dolls or only a few?

Currently, I have room to show all my dolls, save for the two that are still in boxes. When I get into something new, I usually look at all the other things I have and ask myself if I can get rid of old things I don't love anymore to make room for new loves. So I'm currently doing that to make space.

13. Are there any dolls you didn't like in promo photos, but loved in person?

Nothing specific comes to mind. But I've definitely had thoughts changed after holding a doll in my hands over seeing pics of them online.

14. Do you keep the official names for your dolls or rename them once they enter your collection?

Ooh, that's interesting. I haven't thought of this. Since I'm still brand new to Rainbow High, I have gotten a few names wrong. I originally thought Victoria's name was Poppy. Which I think fits her better. But since I am SO getting the Runway Poppy, I couldn't use that name. I don't think the name Victoria really fits her. So I might change it.

I also keep referring to Heather as Harley on accident. Probably because her black and white aesthetic reminds me of Harley Quinn.

15. Have you ever brought a doll with you on a trip, to school, or to work?

I have not. I have thought about taking some dolls out to attempt a photoshoot somewhere. (I live in an apartment, so it's not like I have a private yard.) But it's intimidating especially as an adult to be caught taking pics of toys.

16. Who is your comfort doll? And who is your favorite doll (if those are different)?

My favorite Novi Stars doll is Mali Tasker, not just because I love her look, but because a friend gave her to me.

I have a hard time picking a favorite for Rainbow High since I'm not buying the whole collection and just getting the ones I like. So I have several favorites. Current ones at the top are Heather, Meena, and Carmen.

17. Do you generally prefer restyling clothes or restyling hair?

I love doing both. I've never been a big fashion person or a girly girl, though I like cute things. So I'm learning about both as I go.

18. What's the most controversial fan drama you've seen in your doll collecting time?

I am brand new so I have not seen any drama as of yet. Though if anyone wants to spill some tea about any drama they've witnessed, I'd be curious to hear about it. Love to hear about the drama, don't love being part of the drama.

19. Have you ever apologized to a doll before popping their head or limbs off?

I have not popped a doll head off yet. Though I have when customizing My Little Ponies. I'm very used to headless horses at my place.

For me, it's RH Michelle. In video reviews I've seen of her, the collectors were mostly luke-warm to meh about her. I love her. I saw her on the shelf when I first went to get Harley and Zooey. I didn't get her at that time because I already had two, but I kept thinking about her so I went back to the store later to snatch her up.

The night was happy and light, the chorus of laughter that bursted around him made his lips twitch instinctively into a tensed smile.

A sense of emptiness pervading him, a sense of loss even though in the happiest of times: the case was solved, the disappeared child was back.

The joyous parents kissing those puffy cheeks, Sara sipping her wine and darting engaging looks at John. Laszlo scratched his cheek lightly as he observed them, he didn’t need all those degrees to see what was bare in front of his eyes. His soft scratching was a mix between a show of tension and a reassurance to himself.

After all that running around, fear of finding the corpse of a child, after all that begging and researching and striving.

Then why happiness didn’t hit him? Why there was no relief?

He knew the truth, but the reality of things was that he wasn’t ready to admit it.

“Already going away?” John asked him as he picked up his coat from the chair where he abandoned it.

“Yes, I have an early round of appointments tomorrow”

“We couldn’t have done it without your insight” John insisted. To celebrate in the conference room of the police station just showed how much the happy ending of such a potential tragedy struck everyone.

Laszlo’s eyes darted slowly over the happy family in the corner, the father holding the baby daughter kissing her cheeks as the mother kept a steady hand on her small back, her smile was everything that a sight should be graced of: fullness, undivided love and tenderness.

“I know” Laszlo said only making John huff and chuckle joking that he is humble as always. Laszlo only smiled holding the coat under his arm as he gave him a nod and left.

Only once he was out he realised he came in John’s car, so he resumed to walk his way home, he needed some fresh air.

He never regretted his divorce, he was dragging a dead horse. His ex wife hated the guts of him and he never realised how much he didn’t trust her until the time to get parted came. Until he saw how many times he closed, how many times he felt that she was there to hurt him and, ultimately, she did when the right time came.

He brought it upon himself, that’s what he kept saying.

He tried, but not hard enough, he offered his heart but her pain was so vivid back then that he wondered did he ever gave it all? Or maybe he just believed it, he believed to have done it.

The happy smile of the woman that just had her baby back kept hunting him, the unfiltered happiness they felt caused him a primal form of envy that he refused to acknowledge to himself.

The soft tug on his back woke him from his trail of thoughts. Hand pulling his shirt shooting him back to reality.

A lone man walking home with the damn expensive watch he wore, any other person would have been worried.

And yet, when he turned around and saw you he was the worried one, like you just pointed a gun at him. He opened his mouth lightly but didn’t speak up.

“John told me you left, I hoped to catch up on you”

The way you spoke, the way you smiled, the little huffing in your breath showing you run after him. This is so wrong. He kept telling himself.

He just, he didn’t deserve this, the way you looked at him.

You’re just good at crushing anyone else Laszlo.

The words of his ex engraved onto his mind more than he would ever admit.

“I was just going home”

“Are you close?”

“Yes”

You looked at him with a soft sigh veiled by a smile, like you were dealing with some stubborn child.

“May I walk with you?”

“If you like”

“I do”

He titled his head down looking up at your frame, the way you looked at him teasing something inside him, something that was scratching, a loud white noise in the back of his head that you made audible.

He moved on side as you positioned yourself on his right.

You didn’t speak as you just walked with him, he didn’t talk either.

A shiver run through him, a sense of nervousness pervading him as his street got nearer after every step.

“You should go home, I mean, it is already late, I could call you a taxi”

“Do you really want to get rid of me, don’t you?”

He didn’t answer, because the answer was yes.

He needed to keep you far from him, since he met you your presence was both joy and pain to his eyes.

You sparked a new light, you opened his mind, got his interest. Hearing you talk, watching you move, even the smallest quirks and the little pet peeves of you. Everything was entertaining to him. He felt this need, the need to get under your skin, both mentally and physically. He wondered how it is to blend against your body, to kiss your lips, to taste your tears and your skin. He wondered if you cry while watching sad films, if you have childhood fears, if you talk in your sleep. He wondered if you ever found him attractive, if you’d refrain from his touch, if your kisses begin slow or passionate.

The truth was that he was the one not ready for you, he was the one afraid to let you touch him, to be bare with someone once again.

“I live here” He said noticing the apartments building standing on his left.

You looked up at it and smirked as it was an old building, one of those that survived after hundreds of restyling and it ket this old beginning of 1900 kind of feeling.

“Can I come in?”

“You’re shameless” he said as he indeed was admiring your persistence.

“Also that”

He looked at you for a moment, you didn’t blink away, not even for a second.

Just leave, please, just go away, stay with me, no go, better if you go.

He kept debating inside himself as you waited silently.

“I can’t do this”

You leaned your head on side at his words, you waited for him to explain himself.

“This thing, I mean, I can’t really get anyone in my apartment, alright? It is still a work in progress”

“You have done fooling me around with your excuses Laszlo” you said to him “you can’t take decisions for me and you won’t”

“I am not good at this, I will just hurt you, I am good at the beginnings but I just fail with time, I get sloppy, I won’t be a good choice on the long run”

“Laszlo” you interrupted his rambling as he stared at you. His eyes were begging you, begging you not to force him into this.

“Stop it now” you took a step forward as the space between you two closed abruptly, he felt the warmth radiating from you, the way your eyes shone for him, a sense of being lost and found taking over him, the unreasonable fear of something happening at that ungodly hour, like the building falling, anything, something that will ruin this moment.

“Aren’t you tired?”

You asked it so simply and yet he felt like he was the child that got lost in the night and was now being found again.

He parted his lips, eyes erratically escaping yours as he looked for any word, any excuse, any reason.

“Terribly”

He just said it as your hand gently raised, it was a slow movement like you were about to touch some frightened animal.

His eyes were fixed onto yours as your fingertips traced his cheek and up his temple. Your hand was a little cold against his skin, yet warm into your intentions. He leaned forward slowly pressing his forehead against yours.

“I can’t do this to you”

You smiled as your hand gently moved down his neck giving him a soft caress.

“You have been lonely for too long” you whispered.

He opened his eyes slowly, dark lids blinking into yours as his jaw tightened, a little redness forming as he tried to conceal the emotions running through him.

“Don’t let me hurt you”

“You won’t”

“I will”

“Then I’ll be there” you just said “I’ll be there for you, for us”

He shivered closing the space between the two of you with a sealing kiss, the push that got through him, like his whole body rebelled his mind, made him crush you against the heavy bricks of the entrance.

You could almost sense the immediate regret he felt, but you tugged him in, you pulled him closer as your lips sweetened the kiss from its initial desperation.

There was no pain in what it was about to begin and you wanted him to feel it.

You had no fear, no fear of the empty dark spaces of his mind, of the loneliness of his soul or the searing pain of his past.

You watched him consume himself for too long.

The time of excuses was over, and as your hands cupped his cheeks and whispered softly to him he could almost feel the abrupt silence of his mind after the loud noise of you tearing down his first defence wall fainted into that kiss.

Update on my Good Omens doll project

There's been a lot of progress since my last update. Here's some summary pics, with details about the dolls and clothes under the cut.

I hope you like hearing about this project and I am happy to answer any questions you have about how things are made and what I'm planning next. I'm going to try and update more often, with posts about individual accessories and clothes, as I've gotten better with the techniques and things aren't taking me as long.

Crowley's head: I've completely redone Crowley's head as I wasn't happy with Crowley's hair colour from the first attempt. It just wasn't red enough. But I couldn't reroot that head; It was one of my first ever reroots and I used too big a needle and split the vinyl in a lot of places. The scalp was barely holding it together and it wasn't going to hold up to pulling out the hair and doing another reroot. So I bought another one of the same doll (Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Finnick) and rerooted the hair with a custom blend of red and brown saran hair. This also meant I had to redo the face and tattoo. As before, I left the shape of the eyes untouched. This time, I gave him more on an arched eyebrow. This looks better over his glasses and allows for some more variety when photographed in profile. His hair needs a bit of restyle (it's gone quite flat but he should be able to get a body upgrade soon, so I am waiting for that). Long term I'd like to look into making his short hair cut but straight short hair is very difficult to achieve on a 1/6 scale doll.

Introducing Aziraphale!

Aziraphale's head is from the Divergent 'Four' doll. If you're familiar with that movie, you are probably thinking that Theo James looks nothing like Micheal Sheen and you would be correct. Fortunately for me, the Four doll doesn't look much like Theo James so that's fine. I chose this head sculpt because it has the roundest features of all the Ken head sculpts I could get at the time. I modified the nose a little by carefully sanding the tip back to try and get some of Michael’s lovely upturned nose. I haven't captured it fully but it's a bit closer. I've tried to get his irises a stormy sea blue/grey. I think it came out pretty well and looks a lot closer to Aziraphale than I thought I would be able to get. I think the rounded eyebrows were particularly important in achieving that look. I am still trying to think of a way to blend the empty plug holes around his hairline a bit better. The hair is tightly curled 'ash blond' nylon blend (I find nylon holds a curl a bit better than saran).

I'll post about the PROCESS it has been to give this man shaped being a suitably soft corporation in an separate post because it's been a saga and I still want to make some tweaks.

Clothes

I've gotten much better at sewing small clothes as part of this project. Long term, I am hoping to have made every part of their two main outfits myself. So far, I have made Crowley's jeans, and Aziraphale's shirt and trousers. Crowley has the 2008 outfit (where he has long hair) and the 2019 outfit (where he has short hair). I am hoping to eventually do the jacket and vest from each but have him use the same jeans and undershirt. We'll see how I go. I love trying to get all the little details, like the rivets on Crowley's jeans and the cuffs of Aziraphale's shirt. The waistcoats are next on my list and I have already made a practice waistcoat for one of my Barbies, just so I can understand a bit more about how they work (See below).

Hello sweet Sibi! Awwwww I am honestly having so much fun with this HAHAHHAHA, I could send more but I am refraining myself lol, so please lmk if this is annoying at all!

1. Arrange their garden in rainbow order or some kind of coloured arrangement

2. Do food prep together on Sunday nights

3. Make a time capsule together

4. Buy all or most of their furniture second hand and restyle it themselves

5. Have a shared “kitchen anthems” playlist for kitchen bangers to dance to

6. Have a million smaller lights and candles ready to use around the house and in their bedroom so they do not have to use the main lights as much

7. A chore roster

8. Have a photo of their SO in their wallet

9. Hide money and other valuables inside books in their library

10. Have themed dress up days just for the two of them, maybe like once a month. E.g. today is “blue” day and one of them dresses and Cookie Monster and the other as Stitch and they watch Avatar or Smurfs and eat blue berries and a blue cheese platter.

Also I was thinking of doing like themed versions of these? Like I will pick a topic and create 10 “most likely to”s for each 💜 Anyways, thanks again Sibi, I am also learning so much and making these lists is very fun 🥰

Travel Blog - Anime Festival Kassel Pt 1 - Friday

Here we are with almost the last Con for the year, I had planned to attend two days (Sat & Sun) but as I got so much overtime at work I was able to leave earlier for once and could visit at least partially on Friday.

Friday, Traveling or: 1, 2 oder 3?!

As already said I traveled after work but gladly this time I didn't get stuck in traffic and I told myself if I would arrive in Kassel (after checking into the hotel) before 4 I would get a ticket for friday.

I had decided to throw in my Cosplay of Link as it doesn't need much make up and I didn't feel like wearing Mana or Nea (especially with Mana's wig still not being restyled after the Connichi).

So I quickly redressed and headed to the con. I was able to swap my 2 day pass for a 3 day pass after paying the additional fee for friday. I headed inside.

I have to say the security guards were some of the nicest and darling ones I ever met, they just adored every little detail of costumes and were so happy to just meet people who were so excited for the whole convention. Another little silly story about them being adorable to follow later on.

Inside it was navigating through a whole new set up this time as the last time the Convention only had half of the location and now the had the whole building and a lot of things had changed.

If you come in there were a few vendors but majority is Matsuri Games and the signing area. If you headed through the concert garden you came into the Artist Alley which was significant bigger than last time, i took a very quick stroll but I was starving at that point, I headed outside into the garden.

Hopefully I will have more time to take more photos the coming days but you had some food vendors outside for Ramen, Yakisoba, Shakes, Taiyaki, Bao Buns, Curry and Bubble Tea. Before I decided to eat something I got distracted by the need to explore the area more, so we also had an anime car exhibition outside.

And the commercial vendor's room. In which I actually found some (sadly very overpriced) D.Gray-man merch :O I will take a stroll through that area again on another day. But hunger was speaking to me. Obviously I went for Taiyaki.

They had different fillings like Banana/Chocolate, Cherry/Chocolate and Red Bean paste, all of them were made with Matcha and Coconutmilk in the batter.

Then I went through the artist alley and met a super nice artist who is actually a tattoo artist but is also doing Anime inspired art and we talked about old series that aired in the 90s and prior. Which was actually a very fun conversation to start with as he said to me I should take a sticker and I didn't want to and we got into a chat and ended up by him asking me what character I am and I told him Howard Link from D.Gray-man and he went "Wow, I haven't heard that in forever" and that's how we ended up talking for like ... 30 minutes?!

After that I met up with Schu / @dragoncreatorlaurwen for dinner. We went to a place that sells buddha bowls as it's actually well priced for the amount of food you get. We talked a lot as we didn't see each other since March.

As we headed back to the Con we managed to take a few photos of my Link Cosplay as I only had Selfies/Phone Pics so far, thank you again. One day Link will get a real photoshoot... but I have to restyle the wig before that, it was more messed up than I thought even though I had rebraided it after the Dokomi.

Back in the hall I was yet to get checked again and... here is another reason why the security guards are just super precious. There were 3 of them and all waiting to check someone (as it was quite late), and one went "1, 2 oder 3 - wenn du wirklich richtig stehst, siehst du wenn das Licht angeht!" (which is a reference to a german kid's gaming show in which you get 3 possible answers to a question and if you got the right one (you choose by stepping in front of it) the answer will light up and you get points) and I then said "Oooh do I get a light?" and she went and LIGHTED UP HER PHONE just that I had the right one. This was just so incredible cute.

I explored the hall a bit more but as it was quite late already the vendors closed down and I wasn't actually able to see it all, i hope to see more tomorrow then.

As it was getting dark I headed back to the hotel, fetched a few things from the local supermarket (I'm always curious to try new foods and I actually stumpled upon my favorite kind of twix :O yes I love the white oneees) and had some dessert, settled down for the day. (And I didn't have a protein pudding in ages as I .. usually make it myself from scratch .. tbh i really disliked the taste it was awful q_q fine saving money from now on).

Next up will be the Saturday and the big cosplay contest.

Rainbow High Dolls/Shows Ramble pt. 2

As promised here is my list and opinions on both the dolls and characters. I didn't include any dolls that haven't been reviewed/come out yet.

Must have doll faves (not in a particular order):

Bella: When I first saw her doll way before I fell down the rainbow, I just absolutely fell in love with her design. She's the one if I only have one she's it. I like her character on the show. I hope they explain more about her return and show her interaction with her roommates and team members. I think while fans love her, I don't think she's MGA's fave (I'll say who I think it is later).

Georgia: Another, when I saw her doll I thought she was so cute. I like her second outfit the most with her. I loved they gave her a Southern accent and I hope we will see more of her. I think we will because in an Vi Life ep it said she went on a date with Emerald.

Poppy: I love Poppy's first version the best. Her overall aesthetic makes up for the fact that the first wave have shiny faces. I think her cheer look is too plain and the winter break line doesn't wow me. If they make a runway look, I'd want that doll over her og doll especially if the face was matte. I like her character for the most part. I was disappointed that she sided with Violet on the whole viral video thing.

Gabriella: Her design didn't really grab me when I saw her in the background on the show, but as a doll I really like her. I do think she's unnecessarily bitchy, but in a way her icy veneer might melt a little. She's kind like a tsundre character.

Daria: I think her doll is gorgeous and if I get her I want her to wear her second outfit, but maybe not with the heels (though I do think they are gorgeous). We don't know much about her, but I'm liking what I'm seeing. Since she's a singer, I really want to hear her.

Emi: Her face is so beautiful and I love the blends of different purples. I do wish they had put her hair to frame her face more, really utilize the Farah Fawcett hairdo better. It would make her forehead not look as large. Though, that's something a little restyling could fix. I want to see more of her in the show.

Not faves, but wouldn't mind owning them (no order):

Sheryl: I love her Clueless inspired look, but her doll didn't blow me away. If I did get her I would prefer it if she didn't have the dark lip liner. I do think she would look cute standing next to a Bella doll with their similar taste in clothes. I haven't seen enough of her yet in the show. Honestly, the girls should have washed their own clothes and Stella should have made sure to empty out her pockets.

Daphne: When I saw her in the background I got so excited about her possibly being a doll. Then I saw her doll and I wasn't blown. I do like her design, she's just not a must. She seems like she might be an interesting character in the show.

Laurel & Holly: I like their dolls, but they are very expensive as a duo set (RH in general is very expensive and I understand why). They are bitchy, but in a fascinating for onlookers kind of way.

Krystal: I like her, but I'm not loving her. I wish there was more variation in her color palette. I don't have much opinion about her character yet.

Sunny: I like her dolls better than her character. If I got her it would either be her og look or her winter break look. I did like the baby hairs they added in the runway show, but I wasn't in love with her look enough to want a possible doll version. Her personality is one I'm bad with, like she's nice but I could only take in small doses all the overly cutsey perky. I feel like her and Violet went and got bangs together. I also feel that MGA really like blunt bangs because they have at least four characters with them: Sunny, Violet, Ms. Wright, and purple background girl that has Ms. Wright's haircut. I think she needs to call Violet out more on her bs.

Jade: I think her and Bella are really cute together. Honestly, I would want her doll just so I could have Bella and Jade side by side. If I got her it would be as of now her cheerleader version, because I like the brighter lip color on her than the nude. BUT! If they come out with her runway look (or at least with black lipstick), then hands down it'd be that version and I'd move her up to my faves list. I love how she's the sweatpants and t-shirt girl, but her makeup is going to be on point.

Skyler: I like her character and I'm happy they are making her more confident in herself. If her og doll had a matte face, I'd like it better. So, if I got her it might be the cheerleader unless they come out with something better. I don't like her winter break look enough, except for those curls.

Jett Dawson: She's my favorite upperclassmen character. I hope we see more of her. If I got her doll, it'd be on clearance or something. I'd probably keep her in her box because she's got a lot to display and she cost a lot.

Amaya: I feel MGA loves her the most, because she's got the most merchandise and storylines. I wouldn't mind either one or both of her looks. If I got the white version, it'd have to be second hand because I don't care for the hair makeup. Unless, they made her runway look then I'd get that one. I loved her runway makeup on her more than the makeup-less face (don't take this as people look better with makeup) that she has with the white version. I didn't like her white hair in the show at first, but in the runway ep it looked really good. At first I wasn't crazy about the blue in show, but I liked it for her doll look. Now I like it in show and as a doll. I'm glad they didn't make her a complete replacement of Bella by having her dye her hair pink and be in set design. It's best that they went with blue and fashion, because if anyone was going to be the most forgiving of having their feet stepped on (after Sunny) it would be Skyler.

On the fence about or probably won't get

Ruby: I like Ruby as a character and I so badly want to like her dolls. While I love the color red, I just find her looks too intense. I really hope they come out with another alternative look with her in mostly black and a matte face. If I could I'd want her a black biker jacket, black pants, her flame boots, and either a white or black t-shirt. Her outfit would have a flames motif to go with her boots. Despite what Violet may think in her Vi Life, I think don't think Ruby and her are all that close. I think Ruby is closer to Jade and Skyler (mostly Jade).

Violet: I love the color of her hair. Her personality needs work and I hope they keep working on it. Unfortunately, her color palette is a bit boring. I don't love any of her doll versions. Her dress from her og look is my favorite of her clothes. I can take or leave her bangs. Part of me wants her as a doll so as not to exclude her from the rest, but the other part is do I really have to. I think MGA was originally more of a main character than what she is (because she was used a lot for promos and ep 1 starts with her and Sunny), but people find her too unlikable. If the winter break line wasn't so shiny face and I could get her in just the figure skating outfit, then that would be the version I consider of her so far.

Kia: I question her matchmaking skills with her trying to pair up Bella and Colin. First, I was like "gross, she's gay and she's already got Jade." Then, I realized that Kia obviously doesn't know the full story about Colin and Skyler or at least doesn't know that Skyler and Bella are friends. Because no way would someone date their friend's cheating ex. I wish her name wasn't spelled that way, because I keep pronouncing it the same as the car instead of as Ky-ah. I like her doll design, but I just wasn't feeling it in part due to the show and her price tag. I would like to see more of her character.

Karma: Curious about her character. Don't care for her fashion. Love her face and it makes me wish more her color wasn't so intense. I'm not sure, but it seems like her doll is taller or at least thinner than the other doll. Honestly, I'd dress her doll in a white t-shirt and jeans and most likely put her hair in a ponytail. Since she's a cheerleader, I am curious as to what her cheer look would be.

Avery (and the other As): I don't care for the As as a whole. I wouldn't really want Avery's doll in part because I don't care for the As and because I don't want all the stuff that comes with her. Though, her doll does make me wonder if in the show her hair is a wig and she actually has a pixie cut under it. I do like the As better in season 2 than in season 1 (I thought they were very suspicious). I liked that Avery took Bella out for a drive to help her feel better. I thought was funny that Aiden covered Ainsley's mouth during the play so she couldn't say something that obviously wouldn't have been G-rated to Violet. I do think they should make Ainsley and Aiden dolls so that people, who want to, can collect the As. I'd be tempted to have Ainsley or at least her clothes, because I'm really digging her look. I know Aiden is a backup QB, but his doll most definitely shouldn't have abs. He doesn't seem like the guy who works out enough or play sports enough to get abs.

Stella: I don't see myself getting her. Her color palette is really harsh to my eyes. Which is funny to me because I love my 60th anniversary Barbie (the one with the pink hair), who has a similar color palette. I think it's because of all the textures in Stella's wardrobe that makes it too much. If they gave her another color like black or white to balance the hot pink, it might be better. From what we've seen of her I don't care for her personality. I'm glad they had Bella brush her hand away when she tried to see if Bella was wearing a wig. I do think her personality adds spice to the show, but it would take a lot for me to like her.

River: Like his character so far, but not crazy for his doll. The big eyes are just a bit much and cutsey in his doll more so than in the show. From what I've seen MGA is not good at designing male dolls (doll makers in general struggle with this, but they are the worst I've seen). I do think River looks better than male OMG/LOLs and NaNaNa Surprise male dolls. To be honest it's hard to please me with male dolls. I have/had three male dolls (non-action figures and figurines) in my entire life so far. I do like his second doll outfit and can't wait to see it in the show. I do like him and Amaya together. I think they make a cute couple and I like how in awe of her he was during the fashion show.
