she’s the type to notice your favorite snack and always has it stashed somewhere in her bag, “just in case you need it.” James found that out the first time she nonchalantly tossed him a chocolate frog during a late study session. he’s been in love ever since.

Lily gives the most thoughtful, personal gifts that aren’t just nice but downright uncanny in how well they suit you. she’ll find the perfect charm bracelet for Marlene, with charms representing every silly thing they’ve done together, or a new set of muggle watercolor pencils for Remus because she caught him doodling flowers on the corner of his parchment.

she knows your quirks. Sirius can’t walk past her without her smirking and saying, “hair’s a little off today, Black, everything alright?” because she knows he only fusses with it when something’s on his mind.

Lily knows everyone’s coffee order by heart and will show up with their favorite when it’s “one of those days.” she’ll grab an extra-large cup of tea for Remus during exams and sneak a sprinkle of sugar in for James just to mess with him. and everyone knows that when you’re going through it, she’s the one who will sit up with you late, listening without judgment, her hand on yours, and say, “right. we’ll get through this.”

she’s fierce, loyal, and funny in ways that stick. a bit of her seems to stay with everyone she meets, and you can bet if she cares about you, you’ll know it. because with Lily Evans, love is in the details.

the problem is that he wanted revenge for a creepy obsession he kept even when the person he’s obsessed with is married and also who he called a racist slur instead of wanting voldemort to fall because he thought what voldemort was doing was wrong. the only reason snape “turned good” and wanted revenge is for lily and if lily wasn’t threatened, he would have been one of the most loyal death eaters ever.it isn’t snape wanting revenge that is wrong though, it’s that he wanted it just for the girl he was obsessed with and didn’t even change his racist ideology for

hiii I just wanted to say that I've been reading your meta a lot recently and I really appreciate it, so many people get caught up in villainizing and/or whitewashing these characters but you have such a measured perspective that takes into account the actual complexities of human life, and I think that's really refreshing. I also like that you're a marauders fan who appreciates Snape, that seems to be less and less common these days. your writing & characterizations in general are pretty great but I especially love how real your depiction of him is. anyways your stuff is awesome keep it up <3

Ahh thank you so much! 😭 Yes I agree that it's not very common, I know I've been a bit hard on Snape lately haha but ultimately I do rly love him and think he's a really compelling character, honestly my favourite HP character, and one that is worthy of sympathy in many ways. Not that I think everyone has to love both the Marauders and Snape (or any character in fact) but I do wish it was seen as a bit more normal to like both, and that what characters someone likes wasn't viewed as a moral stance haha. Because I always think that if there wasn't such bad blood, fans of Snape and fans of the Marauders (the canon Marauders at least) could potentially find a lot of common ground and create a lot of interesting discussion and meta collectively. But anyway.
