Hi, I noticed you said that you didn’t like Ragnarok for various reasons, and I thought you had some really interesting takes. I was wondering if you could explain, like, why you don’t like it and what it did to Loki’s characterization :D

oooh boy. Well, in the interests of not making this an essay and repeating many other metas, some of which I’ll link at the end, the bulletpoints:

- the movie made fun of the previous movies, which I actually really liked. this is most evident in the play scene in ragnarok, making fun of Loki’s very moving death scene and making him out to be a self aggrandizing buffoon

- the movie completely erased any progress Thor’d made into becoming a better man and even regressed him, cause now’s completely convinced he’s a hero and anything he does is the right thing. the movie loves to validate him about this. I went from liking Thor to hating his guts.

- it makes out that Loki was a terrible king just sitting on his ass and eating grapes all day. it completely glosses over any identity issues he would have pretending to be his dad all the time, not to mention resolves all his trauma about being jotun off screen and really lazily. also makes fun of his suicide attempt later on Sakaar

- Hela being their secret sister is just boring and makes no sense, but the real thing that offended me about her was that it seemed like the movie was trying to take everything about Loki and give it to her, only more lazily and worse. for instance, the reason Loki isn’t in his signature green and black for most of the movie is cause “there’d be too much green otherwise”. which completely ignores the fact that if there’s too many characters in green around, the logical step is then to change the colors of the newly introduced character

- the colonialism “commentary” the movie spends 2 mins on is lazy, incomplete and unlike what other people would have you believe, not new in the slightest. I made this gifset commenting on it in 2014 . also, for all that it criticized Odin for building his kingdom on blood and war, it then turned right around and made him the spiritual guide to Thor at the end, with Thor very blatantly comparing himself to Odin and finding himself wanting. mixed messaging much? not to mention that in doing the lackluster commentary, it completely sidestepped the issue of Loki’s allegory of internalized racism and the whole “stealing a baby from that realm you conquered, trying to make it exactly like you and then discarding it when it turns out to be its own person”

- the movie did not meet an emotional scene it did not immediately undercut with a joke. most glaringly, Asgard’s destruction

- completely stripping Loki of any competence and prowess and making fun of him at every turn. the original set up of that meeting with Strange had him locking Loki up in a porta potty where people could pee on him

- making Loki out to be nothing but a backstabbing trickster, whose problems with his family were all in his head and would all be sorted out if he just realized that they loved him. this is the driving force of my hatred of the movie, encapsulated by the elevator and electrocution scene. it completely invalidates Loki’s rather very valid issues. until the events of Thor when he finds out his heritage, Loki has been shown to be a loyal and caring person who was utterly devastated by the revelation. he wasn’t some shithead who kept stabbing his brother for fun. he cried when he stabbed Thor in the Avengers with a 2 inch knife when they were blatantly at odds - this isn’t someone who betrays people for funsies

- about the only character the movie is any good to is Heimdall. I’m not putting this here as a dig at Heimdall, but as a condemnation of the treatment of every other character

- it strips the Thor franchise of every other introduced character, writing off Jane, Darcy and Selvig with one mention and unceremoniously killing off the rest of Thor’s friends

- Hela is also a terrible villain, who just goes around monologuing exposition at Skurge

- Skurge is the only character in the movie with a narrative arc and he barely has a dozen lines

- Bruce and the Hulk are completely OOC

Hello tis me 👋😊

Ok so just like many people I have been following Loki's show and I have been sharing my thoughts on Twitter (look for @KeaganAsh if you want to meet me there) but, well, I thought, hey, that's been a while since I've posted something on Tumblr, and since the finale's tomorrow, well.

So. I haven't had many theories, some thoughts here and there but nothing big, but one. This is about Sylvie - it's not exactly my theory, I've seen some tweets about it and I tend to sort of agree with it: I am not 100% convinced Sylvie is actually a Loki. I think there is a possibility, a fair one, that Sylvie is the Enchantress. The actress has answered about it but in case the theory is true she can't just spoil it, and she's been vague enough so the theory still has a chance to be true.

First of all there's the name: Sylvie. Sylvie Lushton is one of the two characters that has taken the Enchantress alias, the other one being Amora.

The two are not the same character but they have things in comon and as Sophia Di Martino said they took inspiration from Lushton but are telling a different story from the comics. That doesn't rule out the theory at all since Sylvie and Amora can have been merged into this new character we've been presented.

I'm going to introduce those characters - even if in the end I end up being wrong, which is a possibility, they're still interesting.

Sylvie Lushton is a human, who obtained the powers of Enchantress from Loki who met her when she was a teenager, in Oklahoma where she was born. His reason being, basically, he wanted to play with the life of a human, and see what will happen. With her newly gained powers she tried her chance at joining the Avengers, taking The Enchantress name and lying about being an asgardian. But she was rejected.

She later joined Coat of Arm and the Young Masters, still trying to be a hero, then was accepted by the Young Avengers before being rejected because of her bad attitude. She joined other groups until she ultimately led a villainous group and was defeated by The Defenders then led by Valkyrie, Misty Knight, Hyppolita, etc.

Her powers: she has the ability to cast illusions, to control people's minds (!), teleportation, she can transform people into animals, cast some sort of energy field, transmorgrification (changing form, often in a grotesque way)

Amora is a born asgardian, her powers have been taught to her by the Norns, especially the Queen of the Norns, Karnilla. She's been continuing her studies by seducing or stealing knowledge from mages, wizards. She associated w Brunnhilde but soon betrayed her.

She's been for a long time associated with Skurge, who was deeply in love with her.

She's notably known as Thor's love interest - more precisely, Amora fell in love with Thor, tried to seduce him but when she couldn't, asked Skurge to kill Jane Foster. She was then defeated.

Later she has been associated with Loki, Zemo, Doctor Doom, etc.

She later was forced by the Beyonder to fight on Battleworld, at some point she fought against Miss Hulk and lost. She met Thor again by that time.

[note that those are mostly characters that have an importance in the incoming mcu phase]

The Enchantress was exhiled from Asgard by Odin who was unhappy with her villainous actions. But she fought against Surtur's army, and against her sister Lorelei when she refused to fight alongside asgardians. So she casted (?) a spell on her so she fell in love with Loki.

Her story doesn't stop here but it's a long story, see the rest on Marvel wiki.

Her powers: she has the asgardian strength of course, speed, ability to fight, endurance, etc. Plus obviously she is a witch so she casts spells, throw lightning bolts, teleport, cast illusions, transform her appearance, she manipulates men by seducing them, she can use force fields and blows up things with energy she emits, she can levitate, AND not the least: she can astral project to possess other people yes !

Both Enchantresses have obviously things in comon with the show's Sylvie - including their looks. Their powers seem similar to Loki's but there is things they can do that he can't, such as what is said in Lamentis: Loki can't enchant people, not the way she does it.

Loki manipulates minds in a different way as established in Avengers, he used the scepter that multiplied his power and emotions, to control minds and unleash Avengers deep anger to awake the Hulk. In a way, that power came from him, but it's not something he really does in the movies. Initially, he can astral project, use hypsnosis, telepathy, but he doesn't possess people. I guess Sylvie is teaching him to use this power he doesn't yet control. Still, it's quite possible that this is to make us doubt, or to focus our attention on the fact that Sylvie can help him unleash his powers, and not on the fact it's fairly possible that he just doesn't have Sylvie's abilities.

There is not many differences between a Loki and an Enchantress and that makes it really easy to deceive people into believing they are the same person.

What we've seen from the show and Sylvie's past, she was taken away from Asgard by the TVA as a kid and then hid from them and ran away... But there is actually nothing that really say unequivocally, the kid we saw was Sylvie. That is the story she is telling.

Plus there this tiny detail that the kid had dark hair, while Sylvie doesn't - yep I know hair dye is a thing but that blurs the line, that creates a visual difference between those two persons. What if it's implying they're not the same ?

And there is other details, like the HUGE amount of times they use the words "enchant", " enchanting", and such. I mean. Why insist on this word, when her power can be described differently, could have used telepathy, mind manipulation, etc, but they insist on using "enchantment".

And there is the fact her first impulse when called a Loki is to reject it, perhaps with a bit more anger than necessary. Why doesn't she wants to be associated with this name? Why insisting on the fact they're two different beings and not two versions of the same person. She's the only Loki to reject being a Loki, the only one who doesn't dramatize everything, and if they have comon traits, they are very different. Even Loki points it out, they're different. They imply that's because she was taken out of her timeline befire she could learn to be Loki, but again, it'd be a very good way to mislead us.

And of course there's the fact that they make them fall in love with each other - I doubt they really are to be honest, but they make it such a point that falling for himself is sick and absurd, then what if it means he's not? Yes it IS absurd. What if that's precisely the point?

I don't care if they end up together if she is not Loki but Enchantress, Loki is still canonically bisexual no matter who they set him up with, that is a win they can't take back. But yes, if she's actually Loki, then this pairing is weird. They are different people anyway, they don't share the same timeline, the same life, the same experience, still that is weird. And perhaps it's meant to feel weird and to be questioned.

In conclusion : I am not sure this theory is right. Not at all. But I feel like there is a piece of the puzzle missing, I feel like there is a lack of an actual twist. For now there has been 2 twists (tva agents are variants and the Time Keepers are fake), but we have been told that since the beginning, we started the show with this fact that it was all bullshit so there is no surprise, we have been led from the start to the understanding that the tva was coated in lies.

I expect something more unexpected. Something that not only will give a starting point to the multiverse just as it has been announced on the medias, but also something, pretty much like the Agatha reveal in WandaVision, that will make us go back to the beginning and reconsider everything we've seen. Why not that thing be that Sylvie is the Enchantress and has been either pulling the strings or been manipulated into tricking everyone.

Maybe not. Maybe I am wrong. We'll see tomorrow, maybe not this time but next season if there is one - everything is possible. If I am wrong, no worries, it happens, but if I am right I'll be happy but not surprised. 😁

So I’ve seen at least one crossover prompt for Marvel/Star Trek. Can’t even remember if they were on tumblr or pinterest now, but the concept got stuck in my head and rattled around for days, and I bugged my best friend about it, and I’m never gonna get around to putting it in prose (because lazy), but fwiw here’s my embarrassingly huge take on it …

Set in the Kelvinverse ‘cause my twisted little heart wants to see Kirk meet Thor and they give each other a look. Then Uhura meets Gamora and they give each other a look. Pt 1

The crew of the Avenger assemble for her maiden voyage. Captain Steve Rogers, only recently awaken from cryogenic stasis, was thought lost on the mission that cost him his entire crew (and best friend Lt. James Barnes). Finding him alive on his stranded ship gave Starfleet hope that others had survived, so they give him a ship and send him in search of his crew. He doesn’t remember what happened all those years ago, but he knows in his gut that at least some of his friends are still out there.

Captain Rogers is not particularly happy with his first officer, Commander Tony Stark, finding him insufferably arrogant and a bit of a maverick. But Stark’s father was Rogers’ chief science officer on the lost mission, so he tolerates him (and can never question his dedication to the current mission). Stark, likewise, doesn’t think much of Rogers, finding him naïve and too self-righteous. But he tries to be friendly (for his father’s sake) even if he’s concerned that the memory-challenged captain isn’t up to the task ahead of them.

Their first stop is a Starfleet outpost on the planet Bellerophon so the crew can stretch their legs before the next phase of the journey. While there, the settlement comes under attack from a Kree exploratory vessel, and prisoners are taken to an impromptu Kree base in the mountains. Commander Stark, injured in the attack, is among those taken. Returning to the Avenger, Captain Rogers does battle with the Kree ship, destroying it.

Pt 2

Back on Bellerophon, Dr. Strange scrambles to save Tony’s life. While they wait to be found, Tony builds a weaponized suit, which he uses to take over the Kree camp and free the prisoners. They have to travel over rough terrain to get back to the outpost, and Stark’s health deteriorates.

Leading the away team, Cap finds the prisoners and has a bit of a flashback when he sees Stark’s new arc reactor (which reminds him of what Howard was working on before the Incident). He’s starting to like his first officer, now that he’s seen his courage and resourcefulness in action.

There was also some random dude who helped save people from the Kree base, and he claims to be an exiled alien prince who needs a ride off this backwater planet.

The rest of Season 1

Everyone gets their powers - gamma explosion for Bruce, alien spiders for Peter, Thor finally finds Mjolnir, Strange accidentally bonds with an ancient alien artifact (which was hiding the Time Stone all along, but they won’t find that out until like Season 5), Vision has to save Wanda with the Mind Stone or something, Tony and T’challa design weapons for everyone, etc, etc, etc.

They fight some random bad guys while trying to stay out of the Kree/Skrull drama. Loki pulls some Q shenanigans.

Season 2

They arrest the Guardians and we find out Gamora’s tragic backstory. Quill convinces her to dick off for a while and try to kill her dad, and Mantis gets swept up in the escape. They get their own separate storyline, but the Avengers always have their back in a pinch.

Venom gets on the ship somehow, and they have to spend like three episodes getting rid of it (or Eddie’s a crewmember and they just let it stick around - could def come in handy in a fight).

While still trying to avoid drama, they somehow get saddled with Mar-Vell and Talos thus becoming a huge target for both the Skrulls and the Kree.

Season 3

Cap’s finally defragging his memory as they explore the region where his first ship was found. They follow his hunch and find evidence that the rest of the crew were stranded on a habitable planet and survived for several years before succumbing to hunger/illness/the elements/predators/what have you. But Bucky wasn’t with them! Maybe while they’re sad and conflicted, Cap and Tony finally hook up (but because this is a soap space opera, they try to just be coworkers again afterward).

The Avenger gets in trouble somewhere and Commodore Danvers has to come save their asses, looking Disappointed In Them the whole time.

A three- or four-ep arc on Sakaar for some vintage Trek fight-to-the-death goodness. They pick up Valkyrie, and Loki becomes a not-so-trusted ally.

(season finale) While dealing with the Power Stone, The Collector maybe gives the Guardians a lead on Bucky, which they relay to Cap.

Season 4

I COULD GO ON, BUT THIS HAS TO STOP SOMEWHERE.

SOMETHING, SOMETHING, GALACTUS, INFINITY STONES, STUCKONY IS ENDGAME.

Welcome to my 1000 follower challenge!!! With there being a lot of seasonal challenges right now I thought I’d do something a little different. I thought that maybe we should get in touch with magic that’s in the air right now ;)

So for this challenge we are looking at tarot! First I’ll go over the rules and expectations, then gloss over tarot, and finally round out this post with the characters and prompts. So let’s get started :D

Every entry needs to be inspired by a Major Arcana card and must be focused on a character or ship I listed.

Each card is limited to one person!

Entries must be sent by ask and will be posted publicly!

I have bonus prompts listed at the bottom of this post; you need to use at least one (1) and you are limited to three (3) total! Sentence prompts are all first come, first serve! The majority of the AU prompts have a two person limit.

What your ask should include - the tarot card you wish to claim, the character or ship you wish to write for, and 1-3 of the prompts/AUs I have listed (You need to use at least one from the list).

All angst must have a happy ending and no cis-swapping.

♦ About Tarot

We’ve all seen the decks of cards with beautiful designs used for helping find possible answers to questions we may have, but not everyone knows what’s going on with them. I will gloss over the bare minimum of info here, but I encourage you all to read up on tarot if you are unfamiliar with it.

Tarot cards are used for uncovering possible answers to questions we have about our lives - from love to career. Cards can be drawn and placed in a certain layout (spread) and are then read in a specific order. They are meant for enlightenment and what they tell in the spread is not set in stone - they are cards and you can ignore their take if you wish.

There are two ways to read the cards depending on how they appear in a spread - upright and reversed (upside down). If the card is revealed to be right-side up you are to read the card as is and if it is reversed then it’s meaning is reversed.

Depending on the deck, the description of the card can vary slightly, but overall they are similar. Also, the meaning behind the card is affected by the other cards in the spread. For this challenge you will only have to worry about the card you selected.

Because there are in total 78 cards in a standard deck (divided between the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana), we will only be using the Major Arcana which totals 22 cards.

CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: 11

SUMMARY: Aleksa lives as an Inhuman at SHIELD's beckon call, but dreams of another life have her questioning everything she’s ever known. Just when she's settled into a life of peace and quiet, she's called back to duty. Enter Loki.

Loki emerged the en suite as he pulled the tunic over his wet hair. There was no evidence of the maiden that had warmed his bed not twenty minutes prior. Despite the release he’d found in her arms, he still wasn’t able to relax. Continued rumors of traitors in the council, coupled with growing tensions with Alfheim, weighed on him more each day. On top of it all was the distant voice of the Other haunting his dreams.

A soft knock yielded a scullery maid delivering his nightly tea. He nodded and she quickly departed, leaving him alone with his thoughts. Long fingers wrapped around the handle of the teapot, tilting it to pour the herbal blend. The cup rattled softly, giving Loki pause. A deep breath brought another attempt to pour that ended with papers and books falling across the room.

“What the Hel?” he mumbled.

The entire palace suddenly shook. Sirens wailed their alert, drowning out the panicked cries of servants and guards in the halls. Loki entered the corridors, the last bits of his armor shimmering into existence.

“Skurge!” he shouted over the din. The burly man met him near a staircase, dodging people as they moved to the side. “What’s going on?”

“Not sure,” Skurge panted, “but it’s coming from the substructure.”

The woman. If this another escape...

“Gather a squad of Einherjar and have them meet me at the dungeon entrance.” Loki barked, slamming into a column with another tremor. “And ensure that the palace is completely evacuated!” Skurge nodded and began a sprint in the opposite direction of his master.

Guards met Loki’s detachment en route to the dungeons, advising them to make for the vault. The woman’s cell was empty, they’d said, and that a hole into the ventilation system had been created. Loki cursed himself for not securing the Tesseract in another location and led the group to their destination.

Energy came in waves from the vault, nearly knocking them to the floor. Loki could hear the structure groaning around them as the waves passed through the palace, and found himself wondering if he shouldn’t order an evacuation of the surrounding city.

The vault lay open, doors blown wide. Cautiously, he stepped inside and choked when he saw what was happening. One of the vault’s guards lay on the floor, the other on his knees to one side of the massive portal swirling in the center of the room. The woman held his head inches from the edge in one hand, screaming at him in a language Loki couldn’t immediately identify. Her free hand was directed at the Tesseract lying on the floor, golden seider passing between them. Summoning all the authority he could find, Loki moved down the staircase.

“And what do we have here?”

Aleksa’s head angled slightly before turning to look over her shoulder, a sinister smirk crossing her face. She shifted slowly to face him, releasing her grip on the guard just long enough for him to attempt to flee. Seider continued to flow from her body into the Tesseract as she clamped down on the guard’s collar, pulling him back to her side.

“Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to show up.” She leaned down to the struggling man, her voice taking a demonic tone. “Looks like the cavalry’s here, but somehow, I don’t think you’re the one Fury’s picking up, little spay.”

“Fury?” he whispered, confused.

Another energy wave pulsed from the Tesseract, causing everyone in the room to stagger. The woman’s slow return to her feet gave Loki an opportunity to see the location on the other side of the portal. The desert he’d seen before the woman’s escape blazed behind her, the blinding white sands a stark contrast to the black earth closest to the portal’s edge.

A desert, he thought. Fury reported picking her up in a desert with scorched sand. That she’d...

“She’s hallucinating.” he mumbled, a plan already forming in his mind as he signaled the guards to stay behind him while he moved forward.

“What’d you think you’re doing, Colonel?”

“What does it look like, Nick? I’m interrogating the prisoner.” She growled, squeezing the guard’s neck, eliciting a pained howl.

“We talked about this, Lex.” Loki stepped a bit closer, replaying the conversation he’d read about months ago in his head. “You find the cube, I ask the questions.”

“Problem is, I don’t work for you anymore. But don’t worry. This little bastard is singing like a canary.” She leaned down, kissing the top of the guard’s head before pushing him to the floor.

“If you’re not working for me, who are you working for?”

Mock confusion crossed her face. “Same guy you are, Nick. Gideon Malick.”

“I don’t answer to him, Lex. Neither do you.”

Aleksa’s laugh bellowed through the vault in time with an energy pulse. Loki could hear power generators begin to shut down above them. “C’mon, Nick. We both know he’s head of the Council. And I know he’s playing both sides.” She ground her heel into the guard’s back. “Isn’t he, spay?”

Remnants of a burned-out village came into view through the growing portal. Loki knew if he didn’t separate her from the Tesseract, the portal would tear the palace apart. Even if it didn’t, she might.

“I know. Just like I know these aren’t your run of the mill terrorists,” he gestured to the guards. “And I know this isn’t who you really are.”

Aleksa balked. “Then what am I, Director? Hmm? A good soldier? An honorable warrior?” She snarled. “A healer?”

“Yes.” Loki was close enough to touch her and began to maneuver himself between her and the Tesseract. “You’re all of those things, Aleksa. You’re not a cold-blooded killer. You won’t slaughter innocents...”

“Innocents?” she screamed. “These soulless bastards,” she gestured to the guard on the floor, “aren’t innocent! The men in this camp weren’t innocent. And the villagers? The ones who harbored these animals. Fed them, clothed them, watched them slaughter my team one by one, watched them cut their...” she faltered, the white light from the portal reflecting in the tears running down her face. “They are. Not. Innocent. No one is. Especially you.”

“You’re right.” Fury’s voice fell evenly from Loki’s lips. “But you’re better than this. Let us take care of this one.” He reached out one hand while trying to send the Tesseract into a pocket dimension. “Let me take you home.”

Her features softened and, for one brief moment, Loki thought he’d gotten through to her. Her eyes turned dark and the sinister smile returned.

“We both know I’m going to die here. And you will too.”

Aleksa lunged at him, falling through the illusion to the floor. She rolled to her feet in time to see the Tesseract vanish above his hand. She howled and scrambled for the rapidly closing portal. Loki dove for her, knocking her back to the floor. She struggled against him, screaming incoherently between languages, begging to be released. A few moments passed after the portal closed before she stilled.

Loki backed away, cautiously waving the Einherjar in to retrieve their comrades and secure the palace. The remaining guards surrounded Aleksa with weapons at the ready. Loki knelt in front of where she sat on the floor.

“Colonel?”

Aleksa didn’t respond. She just stared at the spot where the portal had been, whispering incoherently. Just as he began to rise, she spoke in a voice that sparked both sorrow and fear in his heart.

“Kill me.”
