fine. since no one else has the guts to say what needs to be said, i will.
i’m gonna say it.
skater!eddie munson.
skater!eddie who works at the local skate shop.
skater!eddie who’s loud and gets in trouble for trying to kick flip down the stairs of the public library.
skater!eddie who misses the landing and fumbles right into you. you, quiet girl in her cardigans with her stack of library returns.
skater!eddie who catches you before you can hit the concrete. who stands you up right and brushes imaginary dust off your shoulders.
skater!eddie who loiters outside the library every day hoping to bump into you again. despite the scoldings and threats of calling law enforcement from the old librarian.
skater!eddie who figures out your library visit schedule and will cancel plans to make sure he’s there.
skater!eddie who purposefully fucks up landings when you get close enough. who says “we’ve got to stop meeting like this” every time.
skater!eddie who finally works up the courage to ask you out on a date.
and who are you to say no to the pretty boy on his skateboard who fumbles into you on purpose every time he sees you just to act like it’s an accident. but you let him.
because he catches you every time.

Lifeguard AU. Eddie's sick again and the temperature drops a bit, normally fine even with just the van but the cold air is making him sneeze constantly.
Maybe Steve offers to let him hang in front of the space heater in the office and/or crash at his place (with Chrissy if she wants) until he gets over his cold.
❤️ Bewitchedfeathers
Tumblr media
It’s February in Venice, California. Although the state is known for its Cali sunshine and warmth, sometime around mid January it does a complete 180 for a couple months.
Eddie and Chrissy are used to it by now. They use old sheets to insulate the van and usually have a small space heater in the back. Unfortunately it’s batteries were dead.
Van life for them means winters are filled with sweatshirts, layers, and lots of blankets. One thing they were not expecting, however, was Eddie getting sick again.
Eddie Munson wasn’t one to get sick often, but the strange phenomena has been that since they’ve moved, he picks something up at least once a year.
Chrissy was sat in the back, knees to her chest as she blew on her hands, “It’s fucking freezing in here Eddie. We gotta fix the space heater.”
Eddie was in sweats and a hoodie himself, rummaging through their limited storage compartments for extra batteries.
“I know Chris, SNF, I’m trying…H’iKSH’ew! KshiEW! Itsschiew!!”
“Bless you! Let’s just go ask Steve if they have any.”
“We don’t have to bother them…” Eddie mumbled.
“There’s hardly any people on the beach anyways. Plus this can’t be good for your cold.”
She got up, pulling on sneakers over her fluffy socks. “I’m serious Eddie, let’s just go ask.”
“Fine…”
The pulled on another jacket over his hoodie, sliding on shoes of his own. They locked the van and made the short walk to the lifeguard tower, hands shoved into their pockets as they fought against the coastal winds.
Steve opened the door for them when they knocked. He was in track pants and a long sleeve tee.
“You guys look like popsicles! Come on in!”
The warmth from inside the tower hit them immediately after crossing the threshold.
“It feels so nice in here.” Chrissy sighed.
Steve kissed Eddie on the cheek, “What can I do your you?”
Eddie rubbed a knuckle under his nose, “Do you guys have any extra batteries? snFF our space heater for the van died.”
“And Eddie’s sick.” Chrissy added.
The older man shot her a look.
“Sorry was I not supposed to say that?” She asked.
Steve frowned. “You’re sick Eds?”
“I’m… it’s not that bad… I just … h’ESSSH’iew! Isshiew! snf H’iKSHh’uh!!”
He sniffed soupily, not really proving his point.
“Bless you!” Steve grabbed a box of tissues and held it out to Eddie, who took a couple.
“Thanks…”
“Well we don’t batteries in here, but… you’re welcome to stay with me at my place until your cold is better. Chrissy too… if you want. We can go to the store and get batteries.”
“No no, we couldn’t impose like that.”
“Eddie, I offered. Chrissy can take the couch and m and you can use my bed.”
“OoOoh!” Robin teased over her shoulder.
“Shut up Robin, I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant like. We’re together now so if you wanted to share…”
“That sounds great Stevie.”
***
Later that night, Eddie and Chrissy drove to Steves place. It wasn’t that far from the beach either.
Eddie had never been to Steve’s place before, but it definitely had all the characteristics of the brunette. There were old swimming team medals, one or two family photos on a table. There were lots of photos of him with Robin, Nancy and Jonathan.
“Thanks so much for letting us stay here for a little bit.” Chrissy said.
“Of course! It’s not much, but it’s home.” He disappeared and came back with an armful of blankets and an extra pillow.
“Here you go, Chrissy! The couch doesn’t look like much but I promise it’s SUPER comfortable! See you in the morning!”
She thanked him and started to make herself comfortable as Steve took Eddie to his bedroom.
“We’ll be in here.” He told Eddie. “You can get comfy, I’m just going to change really quick.”
Eddie crawled into Steve’s bed, waiting for him. When he came back, he was in sweats and a tee shirt. He climbed in on the other side of the bed and let Eddie wrap his arms around him.
“Thanks for this Steve.” Eddie whispered into his ear.
“You’re welcome!” Steve replied, “We’ll go get batteries in the morning.”

skater!eddie is boggling my mind so bad like just eddie alone is so hot and so cool and so dorky and nerdy but now HE ALSO SKATES???
i just know he would own a black board with the hellfire logo underneath. (he lets you draw cute lil doodles on it and smothers u in kisses when u show him the finished product bc he loves it and u so much🥹)
he!! has!! a!! nose!! ring!!!
and he has a dirty black converse that he NEVER EVER TAKES OFF. that white man is probably wearing those converses in the house and you chide him for it so he blushes and quietly says ‘sorry, hun’ and takes them off quickly !!!!! (he also lets u draw little stars on it and insists u put ur initials <33)
skater!eddie who is hooked the moment he first sees u!!! he tries to impress u by doing flips and once u notice him and can’t take ur eyes off of him he gets nervous and trips >:( then u go to ask him if he’s ok and u give him a worried look and he almost MELTS but tries to act all cool “‘m fine! this shit happens all the time, honey, i’m used to it” but once u leave hes screaming in agony.
skater!eddie who teaches u how to skate and he’s so nervous each time you wobble on the board!! he catches u the second you look like u were gonna fall and u giggle at him and hes SOOO SMITTEN and makes stupid pick up lines each time he catches u like “oh! let me tie your shoes so u don’t fall for anyone else, sweetheart” and he has the biggest smuggest grin on his face and winks at u each time <33
and he encourages u no matter how many times u fail or trip >:( he gives u a warm smile as he kisses the top of your head, “you’re doin’ so well princess, wanna try one more?” his heart aches when u get any scrapes, taking care of them the second u come home!! “don’t worry, sweetheart, i’ll take care of it. hey, you want hello kitty plasters or lil puppy ones?” he says giving u a childish grin as he holds the pink plasters in front of u!! carefully placing them as he gives them a lil kiss to heal <33
and when he breaks his board after years of using it hes all grumpy and upset >:( and u feel so bad bc he loved that lil black board sm so u save some money and the first thing you do is ask max where to find the best boards so she helps u get him another one <33 and u draw the hellfire logo by yourself and draw little hearts on it and when u give it to eddie he almost tears up, looking at u with admiration ‘you–you did this all for me?” you nod with a warm smile on your face and the tears are READY to fall from his pretty honey glazed eyes bc no one has ever gotten him anything before, especially not something as expensive as this :(( and he gives u the biggest hug with the sloppiest kiss as he thanks u over and over again, he’s so glad to have you in his life. his honey, his angel, his girl.
i might just write a whole fic for him bc im down so bad for skater!eddie🫡🫡

I'm back on my bullshit, here's the Loser's Club roller-skating
I went skating with my best friend and their younger sister the other night and it single handed threw me back into Loser's Club headcanons so here we fucking go.
Long Post
Bill: He's definitely skated with Georgie before and while he hasn't skating in a while (RIP Georgie I love you) it didn't take him long to get back into the motions of it (Just like riding a bike, pun partially intended). He loses his balance occasionally but always manages to stabilize before he's really in an danger of falling.
Stan: He's a natural. His first time skating he struggled for around five minutes and then all the sudden could skate as though he went every weekend, no one can explain it. Bill and him spend most of the time catching while they skate and matching each others pace. Bill will go check on someone if they fall while Stan pretends not to know them.
Richie: He's really good for some reason??? You'd think he'd be flailing around and falling constantly but he's the only one who can do those fancy turns (Where you put your feet in a triangle, idk man but I can't do it) and skate backwards (if you can skate backwards I hate you I can never figure it out). He likes showing off but in the process trips over children that fall while he's not looking.
Eddie: He can't skate and he's made about it. He is like a newborn deer on an icy road. He desperately grabs onto whatever loser is closest and refuses to leave the wall unless they let him hold onto them. Richie (and occasionally Stan while he skates by) keeps making fun of him and hallway through Eddie gets fed up and goes to sit out until Mike finally convinces him to try again and sticks with Eddie for the rest of the night.
Mike: He's not a pro but he's definitely not bad. He enjoys just slowly going around listening to the music the DJ plays. He's very careful of avoiding young children especially the ones who like to zip around the rink really fast (Honestly the children who are good skaters are more dangerous you don't see them coming and they're unpredictable. At least the kids struggling you can tell where they're trying to go) He's the first to notice if one of the Loser's is sitting out and always goes to sit with them even if it's just cause their feet or ankles are hurting.
Beverly: She likes to go fast. As soon as she's comfortable on her skates she is going around as fast as she can until she falls, knocks someone over, or is asked to slow down by a worker. She's also the first one to get bored and will inevitably drag someone with her to get food (most likely Eddie who was already sitting out and will complain about how gross the food is while proceeding to get probably the worst thing he could've gotten).
Ben: He struggles for the entire time he is there but is determined to be able to skate by the end. He falls the most out of anyone but swears he does not need to hold onto the wall and refuses the Loser's help. Good news! he does eventually get it. Bad news, he gets it down five minutes before closing.

“911 what’s your Emergency?”
Tumblr media
@whumptober Day 11
Fandom: Stranger Things, (Lifeguard AU)
Word Count: 480
*******************************************************
“You got it Eds!!” Chrissy called out.
Eddie was at the top of one of the big bowls, getting ready to drop in. Right foot on the back of his board and left hovering at the nose, he shook his hands with nervous energy.
He took a deep breath and moved all his weight to the front, his front wheels eventually making contact with the mostly vertical walls.
He’d dropped in before, he was just trying a new trick that he really wanted to land. He bent his knees to pump the board over the curves and around the edges.
Once he’d picked up enough speed, he used his momentum to fly out of the bowl. He grabbed the bottom of his board as he twisted, hitting a 360 in the air.
His wheels met the ground and for a brief second, he’d landed it, but he quickly lost balance and stumbled forward, taking a few steps before falling on an outstretched arm.
“Holy shit dude!!” Chrissy ran over. “Your wheels hit the ground for like two seconds. That totally counts! Are you okay?”
She noticed he rolled onto his back and was holding his right arm. “I’m good, I’m good. Think I’m done for today though.”
---
Back at the van, Eddie fished out a ruler and a wooden spoon and brought them to Chrissy.
“Can you um.. can you wrap my arm?”
The blonde quirked an eyebrow at him, but upon realizing he was serious, she opened a drawer and grabbed the bandages that they kept on standby.
He winced as she wrapped him up in a makeshift splint. “Are you sure you’re okay? It looks. Weird.”
“S’fine, just hurts…”
“If you say so…”
---
The next day, Steve came knocking at the van door. Eddie opened it excitedly.
“Hey Steve! Wasn’t expecting you in my neck of the woods today.”
“Yeah, just wanted to stop by…”
Something seemed off. Steve was in his lifeguard uniform so he’d clearly come from the tower. His eyes drifted slowly to Eddie’s arm, bulking wrapped with bits of spoon poking out.
“Oh my god, did Chrissy call you?”
Steve rubbed at the back of his neck, “Yeahhh she just wanted me to take a look.”
Eddie sighed and unwrapped his arm slowly, again wincing in pain. Steve got one look and decided Eddie needed medical attention. It was swollen and slightly bruised.
“Eddie. That’s probably broken! Why didn’t you go to the ER?”
The older man shrugged. “Thought I could fix it myself, I dunno.”
“You’re so stupid.” Steve lovingly remarked. “I have to go back to the tower and see if they can call in backup, but once I’m off I’m taking you to get that looked at.”
Eddie didn’t want to but knew it was probably for the best. “Okay. I’ll be here all day. Thanks Steve.”

okay but consider as an au robin deciding to learn to roller-skate and going down the skatepark and being mercilessly mocked and so deciding, a little hurt by the sexism but undeterred, to start going early in the morning because it's just her, often, with her headphones in and occasionally one other guy. he's kind of intimidating at first, he has tats and long hair and a beaten up old board that was cheap to begin with but he tears up and down the park blasting iron maiden and deep purple. she ignores him and skates round in a corner and waits for him to leave most days, until one day she falls and he helps her up with a grin and a quip about not skating with her earphones in because she'll fall on her ass and smash her phone one day, and from then on they become, if not friends, then at least allies. he offers her a smoke sometimes and she always declines but always smiles about it, and one day she builds up the courage to ask him for help on the ramps and from then on it's great because she has a teacher at the park who is also respected enough by all the snot nosed middle-schoolers and territorial teenagers to let her skate in the evenings if she's working an early, and occasionally they'll get to talking which is nice because they have a similar sense of humour even if he seems a little out there at times and she just KNOWS steve would like him if they met, so she invites him down, promises to show him how to do a few tricks if he can borrow some skates because she's actually got pretty good without realising, and so he comes down and sees eddie munson shredding on the quarter pipe and is like yes, oh god, he's the one

He was a punk, she did ballet
Author's note: So, it's been a long time since I've written and posted a fanfic, but late90s/early00s skater boy Eddie and ballet dancer Steve randomly popped into my head and I had to write it into existence. I posted this on my AO3, but I wanted to share it here as well. I hope you enjoy <3

_________
“Ok, Steve, your MASH is…” Robin announced, holding up her pen and reading off her notebook. “A house with Eddie Munson, 5 kids, you’re a teacher and you drive a sports car.” Robin was only there because she liked to bully Steve.
Steve sighed and rolled his eyes, still in the middle of his warm-up stretches. Nancy, who was in the process of tying her hair back, scoffed next to him. She was the only other one of the crew who was in ballet with Steve. The two of them often got the lead parts together.
“All of that sounds lovely, except for the Eddie part,” Nancy grumbled. “I was going to say 5 kids part was the worst, but since you’re gonna be marrying Eddie, it doesn’t sound so bad.”
“It’s just a game,” Steve said, a little exasperated. The idea of marrying Eddie wasn’t that bad. Sure, he was different and… out there, but Steve kind of liked the idea. Steve, the ballet dancer with good grades and who could handle his own in sports, versus Eddie the punk musician and wild skater. Nancy gave him an irritated look, like she was reading his mind.
“Eddie’s cool,” a new voice said. Steve glanced up, revealing Dustin. The kid was snacking on some milk duds and offered some to Steve with that bright smile of his. Steve shook his head.
“No sugar before dancing,” Steve said, standing up. “Gives you cramps, you know.”
“No it doesn’t,” Dustin said indignantly. “Actually, it’s proven that- “
Steve groaned and waved his hand, quieting the little weasel. “Forget I said anything, I don’t want to know whatever it is that you were gonna say.”
Dustin gave Steve a playful glare before backing down, scouting the room for Max. Steve usually brought the kids with him to practice if they didn’t have anything else to do, but today was just Dustin, Lucas and Max. Will was sick, so he stayed home. Mike and El were “studying”, but Steve was pretty sure they were just making googly eyes at each other then they thought Hopper wasn’t looking at them.
“She’s outside, if you’re looking for Max,” Steve said. Last Steve saw, Max was practicing skating tricks in the parking lot. He tried not to keep too close an eye on the kids, but he always like to know vaguely where they were.
“I wasn’t looking for her,” Dustin protested. Steve gave Dustin the raised eyebrow look. The kid blushed a little and opened his mouth to say something, but the instructor then called the class to start. Steve shooed the kid and his milk duds away so he can focus. It took a bit for the kids to not laugh at Steve wearing tights with Daisy Dukes, but sometimes Dustin couldn’t help himself. It was better to keep him away from Steve during practice.
The little twerp planted himself in the back corner of the room, reading one of his dragon books, munching on his milk duds and occasionally watching the class. Steve never saw Max, and he just told himself that she was out skating with Lucas, and that the two of them were safe. As soon as class was done, Steve couldn’t fight that stupid anxiety anymore over not seeing Max or Lucas and not knowing if they were safe. He grabbed his stuff, slammed his feet into his shoes and dragged Dustin out the door. As soon as they reached the parking lot, Steve saw Max and Lucas. Both of them were in one piece, thank god. Steve let out a breath of relief. Max was trying to do some type of flip trick with her board and Lucas was sitting on the hood of Steve’s car. Steve was about to yell at him to get off his vehicle when Max landed her trick. She shouted with joy and pumped her fists in the air. She turned to the side, talking to someone.
“Did you see that?” Max shouted. “I gotta clean it up, but it felt nice.” It was then that Steve noticed the guy with shaggy brown hair, baggy jeans and a Metallica t-shirt. Eddie. Steve froze, staring at the man.
Eddie looked good. The sun was setting, so it cast that soft golden glow on everything, including Eddie’s hair. It made the shaggy locks look soft and touchable. Eddie’s smile flashed, almost brighter than a midday sun. He was leaning against his own skateboard, a raggedy beat-up thing that looked like it had seen years of love and hundreds of tricks.
“It did,” Eddie said, nodding. He was clearly very excited and trying to contain himself. “Just make sure to flick your toes a bit more, like this.” He dropped his board on the ground, hopped on and executed, presumably, a perfect version of the trick Max just did. When he landed, Eddie flicked his hair up and smiled even wider. Something about how Eddie looked in that moment made Steve feel something.
His hair was a little messier, his smile was bright and clear, like he was without a single care in the world. Steve could have kissed him right then and there. If he wanted to, of course. Steve cleared his throat and forced his attention back to Lucas.
“Ass off my car,” Steve barked, snapping his fingers. Lucas rolled his eyes but obeyed. Max grumbled something about Steve being a mother under her breath as he approached, Dustin close behind him.
“Dustin, my man,” Eddie said cheerfully, dismounting his skateboard and kicking it aside slightly. Dustin practically ran over to the man and gave him a big hug. Eddie even picked him up and swung him around in a circle, the kid giggling the whole time. Steve rolled his eyes and tried to ignore how his heart fluttered at the sight. Eddie put Dustin down and released him from his grip before turning his attention to Steve. Eddie gave Steve a thorough onceover, almost like he was a piece of meat at a deli. Steve gulped, fighting the blush on his cheeks as he realized he was still sporting his white tank top, tights and small exercise shorts. He suddenly felt very exposed but tried to keep it cool.
“Well, hello there, Harrington,” Eddie said in a flirty tone that Steve wished he could ignore. Steve leaned on one hip and cleared his throat.
“In the car, hoodlums. Now,” Steve said in his best mom voice. The kids collectively grumbled but climbed into the car. Eddie was still eyeing Steve when he glanced back at the man.
“Didn’t know you came out here,” Steve said.
Eddie gave him an easy grin that make Steve’s stomach do twirls. “I come here often.”
Steve scoffed at the cheesy pick-up line attempt. “Skate spot?” Steve asked, gesturing to Eddie’s board. Eddie shrugged.
“You could say that,” Eddie answered, smirking. Steve’s eyes narrowed at his slightly suggestive tone but decided to ignore it. Eddie gave him another once over. “You look good, Harrington.” With the flirty comment still in the air, Eddie flipped his board with his fingers before hopping on and skating away.
“Hey, lover boy!” Lucas shouted, breaking Steve from his gaze. “Quit staring at his ass and drive us home! We’re hungry.”
Steve shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts and mumbled about his stupid kids before climbing into the car.
------------
Steve was at Scoops Ahoy working with Robin when the gang barged in. Steve sighed as Dustin paraded up Steve and slammed a poster on the counter.
“If this is for another lost dog,” Steve said, “I’m not helping you look. Last time we went on one of those little adventures, I nearly ended up with a broken hip.”
“Yeah, be careful, Dustin. Grandma here only wants one hip replacement at a time,” Max said, popping a bubble with her gum before giving Steve a smirk. He glared before sticking his tongue out at her.
“It’s for Corroded Coffin,” Mike said excitedly. Steve blinked at the kid before looking at the poster. It was definitely not what Steve would have designed for whatever event it was advertising. It had a big, black craggy font with “corroded coffin” on the top, followed a rock and roll style collage, with things like chains, cigarettes, devil’s horns and leather clothes. Steve raised his eyebrows.
“And do I want to know what the Corroded Coffin is?” He asked skeptically, trying to find more information on the poster. He spotted a date, time and “Hawkins High Gym”.
“It’s a concert,” Dustin piped up. “For Eddie’s band.” Steve’s eyes snapped up. He sensed Robin eye him weirdly. Steve cleared his throat.
“And why are we going to one of Eddie’s concerts?” He asked, hoping they wouldn’t notice the choked tone his voice took at the mention of the skater boy, let alone the idea of seeing him play in his band. Eddie was a very passionate person. Seeing how Eddie had lit up the other night while Max landed that skate trick at been engrained in Steve’s memory, as much as he didn’t want it to be. Eddie was most likely going to be just as passionate about his music as he was about skating, if not more so.
“Because Eddie asked us to go,” Dustin said excitedly. “Can we go? It’ll be fun.”
“Eddie did ask for you to come too,” Will added. Steve glanced at the kid. He was wearing that shy little smile of his. Steve could see the excitement in the boy’s eyes. Steve sighed and looked at the rest of the group. Max was the only one who didn’t look particularly excited, but when was she ever, honestly. At least not like the boys were. Steve groaned and rubbed his hands over his face.
“Fine,” He mumbled into his hands. The kids all cheered. Max playfully punched his arm before they all paraded out of the ice cream shop, talking about how they had to let Eddie know right away. Steve groaned and thunked his head against the counter.
“You’re done for, dingus,” Robin said with teasing sympathy, patting his back. Steve groaned again.
-----------
Steve could not believe it. He was at the very front of the small crowd waiting for Corroded Coffin, surrounded by his kids. Dustin insisted they all wear black to “look the part”. The little twerp was even sporting some eye liner, courtesy of Eddie. Max was wearing one of Eddie’s leather jackets, but it was at least 5 sizes too big, so she was constantly adjusting the sleeves. Mike was wearing a black Iron Maiden shirt, and even Will got into the bit by wearing chunky boots. Joyce was probably just happy that Will was going out with friends, since it was something he did so rarely nowadays. Lucas was wearing a denim vest similar to the one Eddie wore all the time, complete with a cut shirt of a band Steve had never heard of attached to the back with safety pins.
Steve looked at his own outfit. He was wearing all black, but not as extreme as the others. He pulled a plain black polo out of the back of his closet, but it was a couple sizes too small, so it highlighted a bit too much of him for this environment. At this rate, Eddie was going to think Steve was revealing himself for Eddie, given how Eddie had already seen him in tights and Daisy Dukes, now this. And he most definitely was not doing that.
Soon, the lights went out, the crowd cheered and a loud guitar chord burst through the speakers. Steve jumped and covered his ears as the crowd screamed, including the kids. Steve tried to collect himself but then he saw Eddie.
Steve realized he might be done for.
Eddie was wearing black eye liner, his hair looked extra fluffy and touchable, and a leather vest. With no shirt. He also wore tight jeans and combat boots. Steve gulped, staring at the series of necklaces that laid against Eddie’s bare chest. Eddie was parading onto the stage, strumming his guitar, sapping up the crowd’s energy. Eddie stuck his tongue out and burst into a guitar solo. The crowd screamed even louder. Steve stared. Eddie flicked his hair back and soon other instruments burst from the speakers. It was then that Steve realized the rest of the band had come out and they were starting to play a song. Eddie wandered the stage with the singer, playing his absolute soul out on the guitar, and Steve couldn’t help but be mesmerized.
The way Eddie’s fingers flew over the strings, the way his forearms flexed slightly as he played, the dances and jumps he did when the crowd cheered. That bright midday smile on his face. Steve could feel himself smiling too.
Oh, yeah. He was done for.
