AU where Sirius raises Harry
The bedtime routine was the worst. Every night, Harry cried out for Lily and James. The day he stopped was the hardest for Sirius because his godson finally realized they weren’t coming back. That night, Sirius didn’t sleep for a minute and just held his godson the way his best friends used to, so he would know that he would be there for him for as long as he lived.

monster - @wolfstarmicrofic - word count: 112
"You monster," Sirius gasped, horrified, staring at Remus.
"Sirius, I-"
"I can't believe you would say that! And to your own godson!" Sirius continued ranting, placing one hand to his chest, using the other to gesture to a 4-year-old Harry, who looked quite put-out.
"Sirius. I-"
"Look at him, Remus! He's the picture of perfection!" Sirius said, both hands now extended to Harry, who stuck out his lower lip as if on cue, looking quite adorable. "He deserves the world!"
But Remus just rolled his eyes. "No, Harry. You cannot have cake for dinner," he repeated his answer from earlier. "And neither can Sirius."
The twin whines of disapproval made Remus chuckle.

When Harry is born, Sirius is dead terrified of holding him. He will do literally anything to avoid it. He spills hot coffee on his arm when Lily offers the first time, playing it off as an accident. He lies that he hurt his elbow in a battle when James tries to hand Harry over. He casts a wordless, wandless spell on his arm to cover it in rashes, saying he shouldn’t, just in case it’s contagious, when Remus tries to pass Harry to him. He comes up with excuses every single time. He lies to Lily, to James, to Remus, Peter, Mary, Marlene, Dorcas, Emmeline, Frank, Alice, and everyone else who comes into contact with Harry and him.
Everyone, after two months of this, assumes that Sirius just doesn’t like babies and isn’t willing to say it to them, for some reason. When James finally corners him, handing him Harry because “he’s your godson! You can’t go your entire life avoiding him. How do you expect to bond with him if you won’t even let him hold your finger?” Sirius awkwardly holds the kid, every muscle in his body tense, tears in his eyes, shaking, genuinely petrified. James takes Harry back and finally presses Sirius until he spills.
Sirius adores Harry. He doesn’t love kids, generally, but his nephew, his godson, is the exception. That doesn’t change the fact that he is terrified of the idea of hurting Harry. He’s so scared that his upbringing has permanently fucked something in his brain up and, if he gets into close contact with a kid, that something will be triggered. He’s terrified that he, if presented with an innocent, sweet, adorable child, could become the monsters that raised him.

Wolfstar Microfic - World
Words: 977
@wolfstarmicrofic
🌙✨🌙✨🌙
Sirius loved his job. He loved working with tiny humans. He loved being one of the people who introduced them to the world outside their home. To show them nature, read stories, and chat with them while they drew scribbly pictures.
The plan had been for him to go into politics, like his father, and grandfather. And great grandfathers, back further than he cared to think about. But even Orion Black couldn’t get on board with his gay son inheriting his seat in the House of Lords. So they swiftly moved onto the spare, until they pushed him to rebellion too. According to the last email, Regulus was running a vineyard in France and was stunningly happy, which made Sirius happy in turn.
Each year he got kids from all walks of life. Kids with two moms, disabled kids, kids in care, kids with more energy than they knew what to do with, kids whose passions were adorably wild for four-year-olds, like cooking or cricket. His godson had just started in his class and was proving to be a handful, as he knew he would be. Any child that was half James Potter and half Lily Evans, with a healthy dose of Sirius’ influence could be nothing less.
But when he got word that he had a student starting the school year a month late, he mentally assigned Harry as his buddy. Within minutes of having Teddy Lupin in his class, he knew it was a good decision.
He’d been in a meeting when Teddy arrived. He’d meant to have a chat with Teddy’s parent. Dad, he seemed to remember the paperwork saying, with a name almost as ridiculous as his own. Roman? Something like that. He’d have to catch him at the end of the day. His teaching assistant, Dorcas told him that the dad seemed as nervous as Teddy, but that he was cute and sarcastic. If she said that with a pointed look at him, he pretended not to notice.
Teddy let Harry show him around the classroom, the reading nook, the ‘pretend area’ that was set up as a cafe this week, the toy cupboard and finally their table. Teddy asked lots of questions and Sirius took this as a good sign. Better he ask than feel like he couldn’t.
Once the class was settled, working on drawing their house and family, Sirius crouched next to Teddy’s desk.
“How’re you getting on, Teddy?” He said quietly.
“Good, I think.” He stuck his tongue between his teeth as he concentrated on drawing. “I only have to draw me and my dad.”
“That’s not fair!” Ron moaned from the other side of the table. “I think I need more Paper!”
Sirius chuckled, “But think how much your mum and dad will love this drawing, with all of you on it!” He’d taught Ron’s twin brothers a couple of years ago, and he knew for a fact that they had not produced any pictures like this for their family, so it would be a nice change of pace for them. He turned back to Teddy, “If you need help or anything at all, just let me know. There are no stupid questions, ok?” Teddy nodded, not looking away from his drawing.
🌙✨🌙✨🌙
Teddy was the last to collect his belongings at the end of the day, and Sirius helped him put his water bottle into his tiny backpack before they headed for the door. “Oh, wait! Your lovely drawing!” Sirius grabbed it off his desk. “I bet your dad is going to love this!”
“He does drawing. For a job!” Teddy shared, gleefully. “I want to do that.”
“Well based on today’s artwork, I think you’d be a fantastic artist!” He smiled down at Teddy, who beamed up at him. “Come on, let’s go find your dad.”
Teddy’s Dad, who Dorcas was, annoyingly, definitely not wrong about, was waiting on the playground alone, looking nervously at the door. He visibly sighed in relief when he saw them and walked towards them.
“Dad!” Teddy ran towards him and was swept up into a hug. “Dad! I did art!”
“You did?” Teddy’s dad asked earnestly. “Can I see it?” Sirius held out the drawing, which he took and examined. He crouched next to his son. “You drew the new house. Wow! That’s so much detail, Teds. This is amazing. We’re going to put this on the wall in the kitchen!”
Teddy grinned at his dad, and then back at Sirius. “Thank you for Today.”
Sirius’ heart melted a little bit, “Thank you, Teddy! Can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”
“Why don’t you go and play on the swings for a minute, while I have a quick chat with Mr…”
“Black.” Sirius supplied, “Sirius.”
Remus nodded as Teddy ran to the tiny swings on the playing field. “Was he alright? No trouble?”
“No trouble at all, he’s a good kid.” Sirius smiled, “His art skills are so advanced for his age. I honestly wouldn’t blink if you told me a ten-year-old drew this. Must be genetic.”
“Ah, he’s been bragging about me?” His cheeks flushed slightly and it was possibly the cutest thing that Sirius had ever seen.
“Yeah, seems he wants to follow in your footsteps.” Sirius paused, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t ask your name.”
“Remus. Lupin.” Remus. That was it. Remus’ cheeks grew pinker. “Well, thank you. I was so nervous about him starting late. He’s my world, but we had to move back. My mum.” Sirius understood. “But it seems he’s... in good hands.” A slight smirk teased the corners of Remus’ mouth.
Sirius had plenty of single mums flirt with him over the years, but this was new. “I’ll tell you what, Remus. Why don’t I give you my number, just in case.” He dragged his eyes up Remus’ torso.
“Sounds good,” Remus said, breathlessly.

“smile,” james cooed at his son, who gave him a toothless beam towards the camera. “oh, you’re an adorable little pumpkin, aren’t you?” he asks, picking harry up, gently, with one arm, and kissing his forehead.
“obviously,” sirius rolled his eyes, tucking a loose curl of his godson’s behind his ear, “he’s a way better pumpkin than you ever were.”
“i am offended, but you are right. the chubby cheeks really put the costume together well.”
“of course he is,” lily added, stepping out of the kitchen and pecking her son’s cheek, who babbled a laugh and gave his mother a wet kiss under her eye. “he’s the cutest pumpkin i’ve ever seen.”
“and what are you supposed to be, evans?” sirius cocked an eyebrow at her.
“a witch, dracula.” she grinned. “the frank-n-furter costume of last year was so good, too.”
“yeah, well, not exactly appropriate for the occasion, isn’t it?” he asked, nodding towards harry, whose pumpkin bereted head was resting peacefully against james’ shoulder.
“how considerate of you,” she smiled, pressing a kiss to sirius’ cheek, “now come and help me finish those halloween-themed cookies.”

SIRIUS' BIRTHDAY WEEK !!!!!!!!! @lilacella's post btw x
day iv : what if harry grew up with sirius?
sirius and harry are kind of my roman empire. i think sirius likes the concept of kids - he's good with them, kids love him. he was ecstatic when lily and james announced they were expecting, he was like a third parent from day one (he made up for both sets of grandparents being dead), he was the only one who attended harry's christening.
sirius adored harry, and harry loved sirius. he would cry every time sirius handed him over to someone else, he never got tired around his godfather, padfoot was his first word.
i think if hagrid had given sirius harry, sirius would've sat down and used his brain. with harry, he had responsibility, he had to be smart and think shit through for his godson. without harry? he was just a twenty-one year old who'd lost everything - he didn't have a reason to not act on impulse. harry was taken care of, right? the one person he still had left?
had sirius had harry, someone from Before, he would've gone to dumbledore, moody, remus - anyone. he would've told them everything, he would've chased peter down, yes, of course, but he would be less careless about it. he would have a reason to be.
and, god, harry would grow up so, so loved. he would have sirius - he would have remus, maybe, he would have sirius' friends, he would go on playdates, he would have had a big room and posters and made big messes in the kitchen at 3am and he would know his parents. he would know everything there was to know about them, he would've had every letter they'd written, every picture they were in. he wouldve visited their graves and their home, and their homes before that and he would ask a hundred questions and sirius would give two hundred answers.
every card harry makes, sirius has them kept in a drawer. when harry's in hogwarts, he writes twice a week to the point where sirius himself suggests that he reach out, make some friends. (he's reminded of james, who spent the first month writing to his parents obsessively till he finally got used to going to sleep without a dinner-in-bed. he doesn't mention it until harry asks why he's gone quiet.)
i dont know how the order of the seven books would have gone. i think sirius would still sacrifice himself. i think sirius would still die in the end of ootp. i think harry would still need his parents.

Hourglass | Sirius Black.
Tumblr media
Summary: Fate changes when you intervene and stop Sirius from trying to kill Peter for his betrayal. Sirius doesn’t go to Azkaban, and you and your husband up raising your godson Harry.
****
You barely made it in time. Your scream of hatred distracted Sirius and Peter long enough to petrify your husband — “Petrificus Totalus!” — mere seconds before Peter blew up the entire street.
It was all you could do. You couldn’t kill Peter and you couldn’t let Sirius kill him either. All you could do was stop Sirius, and you’d done it successfully. Even at the cost of him fully directing his anger at you.
“Do you know what you’ve done?!”
“I saved you from getting sent to Azkaban!”
“I would’ve rather!” Sirius yelled. “Peter deserves to die for what he’s done!”
“And Harry deserves to have his godfather in his life!” you fired back, tears streaming down your cheeks. “And I deserve to have my husband! Don’t let Peter do more damage and take you away from me — from Harry!”
Sirius’ face contorted, several different emotions passing through him in less than a second. He looked between where Peter had been, you, and the ground, half-heartedly pacing back and forth angrily. The Aurors would be arriving soon, and he wasn’t entirely sure if they would believe him.
They’d believe you… probably. With your deeper connections into the Ministry and the fact you’ve made many friends over the years, they had to believe your word that Sirius hadn’t killed Peter.
“They’ll check our wands to see what spell we’ve used last,” you mutter as you fix his hair. “Hope yours was—“
“Expelliarmus.” He grimaced, hoping the disarming spell wouldn’t be his undoing.
True to word, when the Aurors arrived, that was the first thing they did. You clenched your teeth together a little too hard when it looked like they were going to break yours and Sirius’ wands. You kept them on one side of you and Sirius, rather than let them circle around you to intimidate you.
Mad-Eye Moody was the one that vouched for the two of you. He also played a big part of scaring off the other Aurors when they got too close and too rude.
Moody side-eyes you with his fake eye and speaks lowly, “Go back to Grimmauld and wait. Dumbledore and McGonagall will be there to advise you on what’ll happen next. Harry should be there with them, too. Be prepared for a trial from the Ministry.”
After about an hour, you and Sirius were finally allowed to go home. The Aurors were erasing the memories of any of the Muggles that had seen anything remotely close to magic.
Apparating back to and inside of Grimmauld Place per Moody’s advice, true to Mad-Eye’s word, both Dumbledore and McGonagall were there waiting for your and your husband, the latter more visibly upset.
Wait, Hagrid’s here?
But you understood why Hagrid was there, seeing what was in his arms before Sirius did.
The half-giant smiled up at you from the couch. “Ah, ‘ere ya go, [Name]. One sleepin’ tyke.”
Hagrid hands you your godson as carefully as a half-giant can. The moment you adjust Harry in your arms, your heart melts and you almost begin to cry.
You want to cry because of how much you already love this boy. You want to cry because of what you’ve lost. You want to cry for Harry and what he’s lost, because he’ll never know his wonderful parents and their devotion and unconditional love for him — the very same love that’s the only reason Harry’s alive.
“O’, don’ cry, [Name].”
“How can I not?” You sniffle, trying not to really cry and get in your feelings too much while you hold the adorable infant. “How can I not be upset after all that’s happened? Harry doesn’t have any parents; he’ll never know them.”
Warm lips press themselves to the side of your temple in a loving kiss.
“He’ll know them as best as he can through us,” Sirius says quietly, but the room is so silent everyone can hear him despite that. “He has us, and we’ll protect him from everything that tries to harm him or come after him. We will protect him, love him the same way Lily and James would have.”
You turn to look at him and reply sadly, “But we’re not his parents, Sirius.”
“No,” he agrees, “but we’re all Harry’s got now. And we’re going to give him the as close to the same life that James and Lily would have.”
At the mention of his name, the baby in your arms shifted. He yawned cutely, then opened his big green eyes that reminded you of your best friend. Your late best friend.
And you wholeheartedly agree with Sirius, “We sure will.”

in your eyes;
pairing- sirius black x reader warning(s)- angst, death. a/n- contrary to popular belief, i'm very much alive and breathing. also i hate this i just need some ideas 🙏
the diner.
Tumblr media
it's difficult to not hold you. even though he knows you're here to hurt him. even though he knows you're here to hurt him, his godson, his friends. betrayal grips his brain, but his heart can't help but shatter.
it's clear as day, the mark on your forearm. burning charcoal black. the snakes looking him in the eye, as if mocking him. he hates it. you've been gone for too long, and now you can't be what you were.
he knew.
'do you know when you'll be coming back?'
you hadn't answer. he should've know. and now, you weren't coming back. and he'd lost you. if he were to survive, he'd have to kill you. that was the only way he could survive.
you and him, were after all, too close to the stars.
he thinks of making you bleed. he remembers snape's curse. the one that slashes your body, makes your bleed. there's little to no chance of survival. he clings on to the hope. he hopes your tears aren't crocodile tears. he hopes you're bleeding with pain, with so much pain that you forget everything that happened when you didn't come back to him.
your scream his raw, pungent and sharp. you're dirty, he realizes. he can't love you anymore. he couldn't die for you, not when he had so many others to save.
'just kill me, sirius.' you say. it's a whisper. it's vulnerable. it's what he's missed. it's what he wants. he feels his broken heart pieces pierce into his body.
'i can't,' he admits. you raise your wand. it's either him or you. it has to be you, even you know it. but he doesn't want to accept it.
'i don't know how long i can stay off the curse, sirius. please just kill me.'
it's as if you adore him even when his hands are around your neck.
'just let me hold you, for the last time.'
you're crying. he hates to see you cry.
'no, you can't. please kill me. for harry?'
he slashes his wand in the air. it happens too slow. he sees the life leave your eyes. he sees you freeze. he sees your heartbeat stop. he sees you fall on the ground, cold.
you won't ever come back.

I’ve seen a few posts talking about how it’s such a tragedy that Sirius never got to know his brother died a hero.
But what if Sirius did know.
What if Sirius found out right before he died that Regulus tried to fix things. Tried to make things right.
And if the day Sirius found out also happened to be the day that he died, then doesn’t that hurt a little bit more?
Maybe he had woken up that morning, not yet ready to start the day, sleep still calling to him.
And maybe that sleep was rudely interrupted.
Because the incessant noise downstairs was too loud to ignore, and the tenth or so time Sirius heard it he had to go investigate.
When he found the source of the noise, he quickly went from annoyed to confused. Kreacher doing everything he could to spite him wasn’t anything new, but the strange object in his hand certainly was. It didn’t look anything like the other old family heirlooms lying around the house.
And when Kreacher quickly tried to hide the…the something, Sirius knew he wasn’t going to let up until he knew what it was.
A verbal game of chess was started then. Anyone else most likely would have given up after the many insults and vague responses. Not Sirius. He despised anything that connected him to his relatives, but he couldn’t deny the stubbornness was a Black trait through and through. Every time a question was evaded, he found a new way to make it so that he got the answers he wanted.
Or, the ones he thought he wanted.
Because as his questions started to be answered and the truth began to unfold, he started to regret ever prodding in the first place.
The thing, which Sirius discovered to be an enchanted locket, couldn’t have really been the reason his brother died.
Regulus would never sacrifice himself for something so ugly. He liked pretty things, Regulus, and would always collect them. Rocks. Seashells. Coins.
Sirius used to think it was adorable. And he had been sad when Regulus eventually stopped the habit. How strange it was that people change so much you could barely recognize them.
So, of course Sirius didn’t believe the elf at first.
Why would he?
It was ridiculous. How could his brother, who used to cry when it stormed outside, have had the guts to defy the most evil wizard of their time?
No, Regulus was much too soft to ever do something insane like that.
Wasn’t he?
But then Sirius found out his Godson had snuck into the ministry and was in danger…and he didn’t have time to think about the past.
Then there was a lot of fighting. And his only priority was keeping Harry safe.
Harry, who was about the same age Reggie was when…
No, he couldn’t think about that.
Harry was nothing like that traitor.
Maybe they both had a sarcastic demeanor and were fiercely loyal to those they believed deserved it. Not afraid to tell someone what they thought of them.
They both liked to add honey and lemon to their tea.
But they were very different.
In the most important ways, anyway.
Harry was much more similar Sirius’ real brother. James. The only one who mattered in the end.
Or rather, the only one who should matter.
Regulus made his choice. An idiotic one. One that got him killed.
Harry still had a chance. He could be better than all of them, if he got the opportunity.
Harry was only a child. Fifteen and still figuring out the highs and lows of life. He still had time.
Time.
Something that not many people had a lot of. Almost everyone Sirius ever loved ran out of theirs much too quickly.
Even, he begrudgingly had to admit, his little brother.
It was a bit strange when he thought about it too much. Whether Regulus deserved his fate or not didn’t really cross his mind sometimes. Because Sirius was older it only made sense that he would be the first to go. First one of the two of them into the world, first one gone from it.
Funny, that.
Even more strange was that Sirius’ anger at Regulus had somehow fizzled away into something else. Something a little softer in nature but much more painful. Because the truth was, he knew he would never truly understand how he and his brother turned into what they became. He would never know what truly happened. But the fact that maybe, just maybe, his little brother died doing the right thing healed something within him he knew was broken but didn’t know could be fixed.
But dwelling on the ghosts of strangers he knew too much about wasn’t going to help him now.
And even though Harry might have reminded him of Regulus, there was one thing that made all the difference.
Sirius knew he could still save Harry. He hadn’t lost him, not yet. He was alive. He had his whole life ahead of him. Harry was another chance for Sirius to prove that he was capable of saving someone he loved.
Harry, with his glasses a little too big on a his face, a slightly crooked grin, and perpetually messy hair.
Harry, who looked just like…
Like…
“Nice one, James!”

I am re-reading OotP. I am so disappointed in Remus (it's ok he's still the loml and he could still get it).
Like this man constantly pulls the rug from under my feet. For one, he's so cute when he worries about Harry or comforts Molly for the 100th time in the book...or when he makes sure the kids are okay or sits with the werewolf at the hospital (although it was probably to avoid Molly's wrath lol).
But MAN, when Harry firecalls Sirius because he is so disgusted with his dad, Remus let me down.
P.618 "Then, Lupin sait quietly, 'I wouldn't like you to judge your father on what you saw there, Harry. He was only fifteen-'" EXCUSE ME WHAT?!?
Then Harry says "I'm fifteen!" Damn right he is and he is not nearly as vile as his dad was.
P.619 "'Was he playing with the Snitch?' said Lupin EAGERLY." My man is reminiscing of his teenage years watching James bully Snape. REMINISCING.
I struggle with this because I found "Snape's Worst Memory" very sad and painful to read and here it feels that, for a character who SEEMS to have so much empathy for others...makes me wonder how much of this is an act (both the laughing and being empathetic). I wonder if his reaction would have been the same had Sirius not been there? Remus is so fucking desperate to please. That's all he wants really, for people to like him. Sirius is one of his only friends left, so he was not going to start admonishing him in front of his godson, right?
Love you Remus but you suck man :( but i love you because you suck.
Both very tasty examples of Remus-isms. Thanks for sharing them. This man is a mess... his Lycanthropy is nothing compared to the small things he does that are unhealthy, mean and... Remus-y.
One of my favourites is when Harry is almost desperately 'joking' about how the Dursleys think of him, and Remus just keeps shrugging him off: Ch3 pg54
Lupin was sealing a letter addressed to the Dursleys. “Excellent,” said Lupin, looking up as Tonks and Harry entered. “We’ve got about a minute, I think. We should probably get out into the garden so we’re ready. Harry, I’ve left a letter telling your aunt and uncle not to worry —” “They won’t,” said Harry. “That you’re safe —” “That’ll just depress them.” “— and you’ll see them next summer.” “Do I have to?” Lupin smiled but made no answer.
It is such a small thing. Ultimately he is just telling Harry he has written to his guardians - which isn't bad of him, necessarily. If Moody was telling harry he wrote the letter i'd say 'wow he's being gentle and polite today'. He is just doing his job as an adult...
...But Remus KNOWS Harry. Harry isn't just some kid he is acting responsible for: he adores him. Harry is desperate for role models. He needs emotional support. But Remus just does the bare minimum. He gives him nothing. he keeps him, emotionally, at arms length.
When people say Lupin is a good dad to Harry - absolutely not. He was barely an uncle. He was a bit scared of Harry, I think.
As you pointed out - he adores his memories of the past, when he felt free and happy and supported, when he had friends by his side every day and they had fun together. Rose-tinted glasses. When he could believe that he was a good werewolf.
But Harry is so much fucking better then all of them. He puts them to SHAME. Remus doesn't want to have his pristine past poisoned by facing the fact he wasn't a 'good werewolf' at all. He was a bloody irresponsible one, not in a 'silly boys' way either. They acted terribly and he continues to act so now, as an adult.
He knows all this in his heart... but those memories are all he has.
He is stuck in that past, he hasn't really ever grown up. He even 'plays' professor - the cool, fun teacher everyone likes. Sirius? Sirius looks to the future, generally. "What can I do next?" He has his own childishness and trauma, but the past is the past and the future is controlled by the present.
Remus wants to sit and sulk in the past. If he had a penseive like Albus he would be drowning himself in it, day in and day out. it takes Tonks, Harry and a fucktonne of support to grow him up. Which is cool! Sometimes people need it, and its worth it in the end.
I don't think Remus' reaction would have changed much without Sirius there. Maybe he would have just been a little quieter, but I think his feelings would remain largely the same: They are good memories. Perhaps they didn't act the best, but they were only kids, right...? (pointedly ignoring the fact that other kids, like Harry, act so much better than they did without even trying.)

Baby Harry his Padfoot - 🐾
Harry hated peas.
He gave his mom a pointed look every time she placed a bowl of peas in front of him.
Padfoot hated peas.
He believed peas should be banished from the earth.
Lily didn't particularly like peas.
But seeing her adorable son give her that frown whenever she gave him peas made her laugh. She was pleased with how quickly he ate them.
James loved peas.
He thought it was hilarious that his best friend, who despised peas more than anyone else and refused to eat them in Hogwarts, claiming there was no one on earth that could make him eat peas. He tried not to laugh as his son scrunched up his eyebrows and frowned at his godfather across the table, almost as if the two were having a silent debate while frowning at each other. Then, in a matter of seconds, his best friend would sigh in defeat as he transformed into Padfoot, and his wife would give him a smile, thinking he was encouraging their son to eat his peas. Harry's little frown turned into a smile as he pretended to put a fist full of peas into his mouth while Lily was looking, but as soon as she turned back to her dinner, he threw them on the ground as Padfoot quickly ate them with a pained expression on his furry face.
This was why James loved peas.

Why do I now have to picture Sirius excitedly telling everybody that he's about to become godfather like a physical father would do? But he would immediately start reading books about anything you need to know about Babys and ask James and Lily from time to time wheter they had thought of everything. It just means so much to him!! And he just wants to offer help where his friends lovers need it. And he would probably take adorable care of lily. Classic Sirius completely dedicated to the Potters. Love him
Also tagging @arliedraws
So I can't decide if I like excited godfather Sirius who can't shut up about Lily having his godson, or if I like a Sirius who is all "ugh, you're having a BABY??? there is a WAR on" and is super uninterested until the moment he's holding Harry for the first time and his heart fucking STOPS because he loves this kid so much and so suddenly.
Grandfather Sirius, on the other hand? WILL NOT shut up about the future baby. He carries Ginny's ultrasound pictures around with him and talks nonstop about becoming a grandfather. Just whips his wallet out at the slightest provocation and is like "look??? you see that??? that little blob that looks like a bean??? THAT'S MY GRANDSON!!"

Thoughts on Hermione/Sirius?
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
i have decided to partially back this, on the grounds that i think there's the capacity for an initial spark which would fizzle out extremely quickly when the two realised they found the other incredibly irritating.
although it's worth saying - as it always is - that i don't have an issue in the slightest with the age gap, or with the fact that sirius and hermione's acquaintance was established when she was a child. these people are fictional.
the initial attraction is obviously going to be based in sirius and hermione's mutual respect of the other's cataclysmic loyalty. it's obvious in canon that sirius adores the fact that harry has friends who embody a trait he values above all others - which hermione proves her mettle in right in front of his face when she helps harry save his life in prisoner of azkaban - and, in a world in which he survives order of the phoenix, the respect that he'd have for hermione for sticking with the horcrux hunt would clearly be immense.
for her part, hermione clearly really rates not only the comfort sirius provides harry, but the guidance - she urges harry constantly in goblet of fire to confide in sirius and finds the advice sirius gives his godson to be above reproach. she evidently respects him, and she evidently thinks of him as wise and sensible.
and sirius repays this trust by, for example, backing hermione's assessment of barty crouch sr.'s treatment of winky - which is a defence of a principle she sincerely holds but which harry and ron think is ridiculous which harry and ron clearly didn't expect - and i imagine hermione was hugely impressed by this.
however... what would be more incompatible about the relationship rears its head in order of the phoenix.
hermione's resilience is one of her more admirable traits - but it comes with the negative side-affect that she has a canonically low tolerance for moping. she's of the opinion throughout this book that sirius could get a grip on what is obviously depression if he simply tried hard enough - and i think the most accurate way to write her post-war is to imagine that she's someone who deals with grief by trying to "fix" things [as she does in canon in half-blood prince, when she keeps trying to push harry to talk about sirius].
i don't think this is a fault - it's the way many people cope with grief, and good for them - but i do think that it wouldn't align at all with how a sirius who's lived to see the age of peace would want to approach the task of grieving. i think he's going to think that she's meddling and she's going to think that he's falling into self-destruction and it's just going to be a mess.
[ron - in contrast - would get it, and this is why i'm now fully ronius-pilled...]
hermione and sirius also diverge in order of the phoenix over what she [not unreasonably] perceives as sirius' recklessness and he [not unreasonably] perceives as her being self-servingly risk-averse. as adults, i think this would just cause them to butt heads in ways they both found quite boring - especially because sirius would be looking, in choosing a lover, for someone very like james, who was a fatal combination of daring, reckless, and permissive.
he wouldn't be getting that in hermione - who, while undeniably brave, isn't audacious in the way sirius values, and who shows affection primarily by nagging and meddling. she would understand telling him off for speeding on his bike as an expression of her concern for him and an articulation of what he means to her. he would regard it as insufferable - and i don't think he'd go in for the constant bickering and debating which is hermione's love-language.
i also think - much as i think when it comes to shipping hermione with snape - that they wouldn't be intellectually compatible. not in terms of level of intelligence, but in terms of this intelligence's expression. sirius' intellectual arrogance - that sort of "oh i know all this already" vibe - is complete anathema to someone who loves to acquire information. i think sirius is tuning out pretty quickly when hermione is giving him a page-by-page review of her new book - and i think she'd be right to consider that rude.
so my proposal? add ron in as the third.
that way everyone wins.

☆Feedback Fest 2024☆

♧♧♧♧
Since this is my Harry Potter side blog, all the fics in my rec list are from Harry Potter.

On Fire, But We can't feel a thing by @benjamin-ovich
Pairing: Sirius Black/James Potter
Summary: Sirius feels oddly faint, feels like his whole body has turned into vapour and he could just be blown away into nothingness at any moment. Nothing about this has felt real, not when Remus’ head popped into his fireplace after a whole year and not now that he’s telling him that James, his James, won’t remember who he is.
Rating: E
Words: 100, 790 ( In-progress )

The only problem is, Lily Evans hates his guts… or does she?

Supernova by @siriuslyasorceress
pairing: James Potter/Sirius Black
Summary:
From the outside, it may look like James Potter has everything one needs to be happy. An abundance of talent, a prestigious job, a beautiful wife, an adorable child. So why can’t he let go of the past? Why does he still see silver eyes and a crooked smile when he dreams at night?
It's been six years. Six years since Sirius Black left England. He practically ran away from the country and hasn’t stopped running since. When he has to return to parts of his old life, he tries his best not to dwell on the past.
What luck then, that the past is one of the first people he runs into.
- “What, so the French sent a cursed Curse-breaker?”
There is humour in James’ voice, signalling that this isn’t meant to insult, merely falling into the way they always used to talk to each other. It’s almost too easy reciprocate, to answer with banter that still feels too familiar and pulls at Sirius to be released. He bites his tongue.
“I can assure you, cursed or not, I am still excellent at my job, Auror Potter,” he says pointedly.
Rating: M
Words: 73,120 ( in-progress )

Attempting to reestablish the friendship they'd always had, Sirius is set on pretending it never happened, at least until he realizes the years away haven't changed the weight of the powerful spell James holds over him.

Things are not particularly funny, but when he told Remus that he was going to get over James Potter -- for real this time -- Remus laughed. Because to everybody else, Sirius being in love with James is a fact of the universe.
The Earth turns, the sun rises, and James and Sirius come as a pair. Or Sirius is in love with his best friend, James is late to the party, and Peter is terrible at keeping secrets.

I don’t care if it’s a little silly, I go nuts for Sirius calling Harry ‘pup’ in fics. Their relationship is my favorite canon dynamic (traumatized and oh so devoted and terrible communication skills ughhh), and I think that Harry just desperately needed an adult to belong to. It could’ve been Sirius, and I adore that being reflected in fic through the ‘pup’ nickname. Yeah, that’s Sirius’ godson, that’s his favorite kid, and it’s so much easier for two emotionally stunted characters to express their love through nicknames instead of just saying the words. We only see Harry’s POV, and he’s ~aware~ of how much Sirius loves him (keeping secrets from Sirius so his godfather doesn’t come to Hogwarts guns blazing gets that across real quick), but Sirius calling him ‘pup’ allows Harry to actually acknowledge Sirius’ love and devotion to being his godfather. And don’t even get me started on Sirius and my general headcanon that he called Harry ‘pup’ even before James and Lily died. That’s his best friends’ kid!!! In a friend group that literally made up childish nicknames for the Animagus/werewolf forms that they were using to constantly break the law!!! It works best when Sirius doesn’t always use it, but when he does, Harry (yes, emotionally oblivious Harry) notices that Sirius uses it.

Note
I finally got back on (I lost power for ~4 days and then had school yikes!) and read your Harry/female Regulus fanfic
Ellory, I must request more from you
I beg of you, kindly look favorably on this fan and write MORE
I'm glad you have power again, Zani! (Also, it's imperative that I tell you my phone autocorrected your name to 'Zabini'.)
It took me a hot minute to realize you meant a continuation of a FSF. I was all ... I have a Harry/Regina fic? 🤣
*****
"Regina," Heir Sirius Black asks, brows furrowed and gray eyes narrowed, "why did my godson just threaten to castrate me if I ask you about having children?"
Lady Regina Black doesn't even bother to glance up from the tome Harry Potter brought her as a first courtship gift when she replies, "Because I made it a requirement of our courtship before accepting his offer."
The silence when she turns the page is painfully loud.
"You picked ... Harry?" Sirius inquires, sounding a mix of honestly baffled and as if he's not quite sure if he should be objecting.
Regina smiles, remembering how adorably nervous Harry looked, how earnestly he promised to keep James and Sirius from bothering her, even as he offered her the perfect gift, and says, "Yes, I did."
