any comparison between early 00s online youth culture and late 10s online youth culture is fundamentally incompatible as soon as you move beyond the similarities of "lol teens being cringey" or whatever because we are in a completely different media landscape these days. making heavily-edited cosplay tiktoks is nothing like curating a deviantart gallery full of anime blingees because the former is always, implicitly or explicitly, an attempt to cash in on internet fame while the latter was simply rooted in the deep twisted psyche of someone feasting on the dark side's cookies

I fully believe that at least Sapnap had no intention of killing Michael, and very likely for George as well. You could see how much Sapnap panicked when Michael started attacking George. George was definitely more reckless, by going back in the house and throwing the eggs, but I highly doubt he actually intended to do anything.
But anyway, Punz saying “Michael has a place on the server, I’m not gonna kill a child!” And Eret literally jumping in with the harming potions to heal Michael and moving him to a safe location later, on top of rebuilding the house-
Good guys, those two.

just a thought but...
.. Supernatural is good actually. it's a good show. I see lots of posts saying it's a mess, it's so bad, it's a cockroach you can't get rid of, it's a guilty pleasure. you're entitled to your opinion but I think it's reductive— and frankly a bit sad— to see the show as a piece-of-shit media that is only appealing because you can make fun of it, when it has so much more to offer. I unironically think it's a good show. it's not perfect, obviously, you can criticize it plenty— from lack of diversity to plot holes to slowly deteriorating writing— and I encourage you to do so actually, because it's healthy to be critical of the media you consume.
but for me those aspects don't undermine the fact that it's a good show : it's interesting, it's entertaining, it's a mix of several genres with multi-layered complex characters. i think Eric Kripke is a genius actually, for putting this story together and taking the time to build the universe and creating a show about the supernatural that is very much anchored in reality and for bringing old legends next to modern-created myths and for mixing comedy and drama so well. so yeah, it's good. and let's face it, it wouldn't have lasted fifteen years if it wasn't.
you can say it's a guilty pleasure but come on, it's not Twilight.

Shout out to BBC Merlin for literally killing off a character and then having the absolute AUDACITY and BALLS to claim he was only mostly dead and dragging his ass back to life fully healthy two minutes later.
Leon was dead. He was fully dead. His eyes were open and on a fixed spot, he was not breathing (shout out to Rupert Young’s convincing acting of a corpse, with bonus points for being so convincing when Leon’s allegedly still alive).

Okay but how do think Frieza would do as a parent?
I can actually see him being better at it than you'd immediately think. c: Frieza himself seems like he was spoiled *rotten* by his dad, I mean he got handed a whole evil space empire as a little kid, so if he's gonna follow king cold's example? Yeah, Kuriza is gonna be the rich punk kid that everyone hates because his entire life is just one big free ride with everything he wants~ Speaking of rides, I always like to imagine that the reason frieza is never riding his hover-car thing in the Broly Movie is because of this:
Tumblr media
It might even explain why he's willing to move his ship away from the battlefield, or why when he hears about Broly's anger issues his response is "you brought danger to my ship" not "oh cool hope he goes feral on my enemies lmaooo". It's probably just supposed to show that he's matured and cares more about his troops than in Resurrection F but shhhhhh.

i literally love the new episode so much. i was wondering the whole time why we suddenly shifted to sasha’s narration, especially since this is part 2 of what is supposed to be juno’s episode and not a new episode altogether, which is what i thought had happened at first. it wasn’t until i heard juno’s theme music playing during sasha’s explanation that it came together for me. juno let sasha take control—and that meant quite literally letting her take control of the narrative thread we as listeners are being presented with. but juno’s theme playing at the end serves to reinforce the fact that this is still juno’s episode in all the ways that matter, that this was his master plan and story even if he isn’t the one telling it to us. and the way part 2 was dropped with no prior warning, no indication that there even was a part two, mirrors sasha’s surprise at being caught herself. she didn’t know there was a part 2, either.
the part that gets me the most though, is how the narrative choice is reflective of how far juno has come character wise—that he’s willing to step out of his own story, his own episode, and give up the semblance of control if that’s what it will take to save his family. it’s a move that season 1 juno—the juno sasha insists she knows—would never have considered. because that’s what this episode is ultimately about, isn’t it? family, both new and old, and the ways that we grow with and apart from that family

What I would give to be able to experience SU blind again-
Despite that, I wouldn’t give away the experience of being able to rewatch it from different points in its air-time - I honestly think the reason I love it so much is because I got to watch it evolve over years and see how my opinions on characters changed depending on how much we knew about them.
Certain scenes in the series don’t even rely on a big twist to be good - often it comes from a subversion of audience expectations that work because the characters are written to do unlikable things sometimes. Pearl is allowed to mess up and put Steven in danger because of her grief. Jasper is allowed a place to grow even when she rejects the help that is offered to her. Amethyst can be a loving sister and simultaneously be massively irresponsible around steven sometimes. Peridot learns to be well-meaning and kind but she still struggles with social awareness and often comes off as tone-deaf, to the point of hurting others feelings or making a situation worse. I could keep going, there’s so many examples.
I’m always surprised when I hear people talk about how they don’t like the rose/pink twist - That’s an example of subversion of expectations + a massive twist payoff that feels incredibly game-changing simultaneously - Getting rose and showing her to be responsible for really amazing, life changing events and also horrifically terrible ones is a great example of how SU believes in the flaws of its characters and trusts its audience to make their own opinion on them. I like that the show lets us try and piece together who she was, with the same amount of information that Steven has.
That isn’t even getting into how much of a surprise it’d be to tune in for a new episode and get hit by so much. queerness. Like. So many characters written in a way where even if they weren’t explicitly confirmed LGBT, there was an aspect to the way they were written that felt so inherent to the gay experience. I feel thats something thats often left out in talks about modern LGBT representation. SU isn’t just groundbreaking in its very obvious, flashy moments. Its subtle stuff like Greg, a massive loving heart within the cast, talking about freedom and expression and being like. somewhat bisexual coded? (I dont know how else to explain he just HAS the vibes). The way Peridot felt very aro-ace coded even before crew confirmation? Just. all of the gems having very interesting designs and presentation when compared to a lot of female/femme coded designs in media that have to look a certain way? Sections of Steven’s story being a trans allegory and also just super GNC?? Steven Universe is still operating on its own level in terms of representation as far as I’m concerned honestly.
The way SU was written makes it so hard for me to get into other media in that demographic too - I feel spoiled lmao. There are some anime/certain cartoons that are exceptions but a lot of the popular ones rn specifically aren’t really clicking for me :((
