i would just like to point down the fact that wei wuxian only washed away all the powder from his face after the juniors fought against the mysterious arm. he only wiped it a bit by then. which means that the cool "awake yet?" line where he pulled the corpses up was done with him looking like a clown who was drenched in rain.

the first time he saw his future husband in his new body was when he was looking so ridiculous he, himself, got terrified after glancing at the mirror. bitch was acting all powerful and awesome until you remember the whole time he was doing it looking like a buffonish puppet who oh so literally came to life.

wei wuxian's story sometimes is a fucking comedy, i swear. there's a reason why nobody respected him at first, i see it.

i think it's fascinating how so many people's view of a fix-it for MDZS involves wei wuxian staying loyal to yunmeng jiang and maintaining a position beneath jiang cheng as his right hand man, exactly like wei changze was to jiang fengmian and most likely exactly what the latter intended when he brought wei wuxian into his household to begin with.

it's almost like a majority of fans just utterly missed the point of the story. tell me the class critique and hypocrisy of the wealthy flew completely over your head without telling me.

there's a reason why the book frames it as a good thing for wei wuxian to have left yunmeng jiang and to not be brought back in even after his resurrection.

there's a reason why wei wuxian parallels his father, both eloping with the love of their lives and exiting mainstream cultivation society's sociopolitical affairs to righteously help others and pursue their own happiness.

there's a reason why even if it seems bittersweet, the ending of the novel is still good even for jiang cheng, because jiang cheng finally lets go. he internally accepts wei wuxian separating from him, stops doggedly antagonizing him, and stops thinking of their relationship in terms of debts that wei wuxian hasn't repaid.

I love how the faux-politeness of MDZS' climax takes its themes to its logical conclusion. All throughout, we've seem how sects and cultivators prioritise their reputations, seeking glory and status even when real lives are at danger, keeping up their appearances. We see that in the unwritten rule that major sects won't intervene in problems unless the prey is dangerous; we see it in how Lan Wangji is unique in the way he prioritises helping others over seeking glory; we see that in how the Wen situation plays out, with Wei Wuxian confronting the Jins about a concentration camp while they're focused on having a banquet.

So of course in the Guanyin Temple, even when Jin Guangyao is directly threatening people's lives, the interactions are polite! We're seeing what has always been present – the absolute disconnect between the actions and world of the Jianghu, and the real harm that real people are suffering through (both intentionally and not) as a result.

Saying that Neria was in a good mood couldn't capture the way her heart felt so full now that she had been reunited with Leliana. In person, for an undetermined amount of time. It could almost distract her from not having gotten a hold of Alistair yet. Still, as the speech quickly got derailed by the curious crowd and touched the Herald of Andraste subject that she had heard about but wanted nothing to do with, Neria wondered if she was joining a cult. She did chuckle eventually, and her voice had a note of hilarity in it: "I am... so uncomfortable right now," she grinned at Leliana, "I regret so many things." "I know you don't even believe in the Maker, but if anyone asks-" "All hail to the Herald, yes, no problem. Still." She gave herself a push away from the railing, "I am going to need all of the alcohol." Leliana quickly turned to the one introduced as Dorian Pavus, whispering something that Neria guessed to be about accompanying her. To keep her out of trouble, probably. Because company had worked so well as a deterrent, ten years ago. "All the alcohol," she repeated to Dorian.

AU where Lan Wangji picked up Wei Wuxian's ribbon as well as A Yuan when he came to the Burial Mounds after the siege. He washes it and takes really gentle care of it until Lan Sizhui is old enough to get a forehead ribbon and he gives him Wei Wuxian's old ribbon instead of the usual one and tells him that it's from his mother.

The other Lans are very confused when Lan Sizhui shows up to class wearing a red forehead ribbon, but accept it once Sizhui tells them its his only keepsake from his mother. Lan Qiren splutters and goes purple at the sight of him that day, but he never hears anything else from his Great Uncle about the ribbon.

Lan Sizhui wears it and has to explain why its red about a billion times until he stumbles upon Mo Manor where Mo Xuanyu starts mumbling about him wearing his old ribbon.

Wei Wuxian works out that Lan Sizhui is A Yuan a lot sooner and there is a very tearful reunion.

I think the reason lwj is so quiet around wwx is because he goes completely fucking stupid when wwx is around. Like full on no thoughts head empty (except for gay thoughts). He can’t open his mouth because he cannot predict what kind of garbled disaster of syllables will spill out if he does. Everything he says in canon has been rehearsed in his head and whispered under his breath fifteen times at minimum before he can even dare to try to say it, lest he accidentally looks into wei ying’s eyes at the wrong moment, causing him to forget everything he was just about to say and also how to walk in a straight line.

I simply think this fandom doesn't give Wei Wuxian enough credit for the various ways in which he saved Lan Wangji
