LMAO I had this same thought a while ago but it’s Yanqing and jing yuan about the teacher. Silly and endearing.

Usually when Yanqing scrapes his knees while playing on the playground, he’s pretty good about not crying. He’ll just come over to you to ask for a bandaid despite his wobbly lip and trembling shoulders. Good as new with your words of comfort.

But it’s been a particularly rough day this time around. Two students had a disagreement over sharing a swing during recess. There was a fire alarm that went off in the morning that some older kid from another class pulled. Sounds of construction nearby kept the students from focusing for long on their tasks. And when you went to make yourself a little chamomile tea to ease your nerves, you accidentally bumped into your desk and it spilled all over some assignments you needed to grade.

All in all, not one of your top ten days.

Thankfully the day came to an end, and what was only a four hour class felt like ten. You had already received word that Jing Yuan was set to pick up Yanqing today but was running a bit late due to a board meeting running longer than expected.

No problem. He would make your day a little better with the pleasant, short chat once he stopped by.

And then you hear the first hiccup and a tug at your sleeve.

The tears well up in Yanqing’s eyes quicker now that he’s alone with you.

“Oh dear, what happened? Here let’s get you patched up, hon.” You swiftly pick him up and carry him inside to the little first aid station by your desk.

His poor little knee and elbow got scraped up, untied shoelace working against him as he ran over to you. No use putting up a strong front when all of his little classmates aren’t here. All that’s left is a lonely little boy seeking comfort and reassurance.

“Shh, shh. It’s alright now. See? All cleaned up,” you reassure soothingly.

And though he nods, his shoulders still tremble as his sniffles get louder. He buries his head in your shoulder, tiny hands clinging onto your shirt. You have no choice but to carry him in your arms, gently rocking him and rubbing his back to calm him down.

“Shh, it’s ok to cry little one. There, there.”

He lets out another sob, “I want my baba.”

You sigh quietly, mind much too overloaded with the day’s mishaps that you speak your mind without realizing. “I want your baba, too.”

They’re all real— I like to think hybridization isn’t always a clean balance of traits, so Ren just unfortunately ended up with two sets of ears— his Dog ears being much more receptive to sound, naturally— and sometimes when the extra intake of sound is too overwhelming, I imagine he wears earplugs in his human ears to help adjust :> it’s a bit weird, but idk! i like to make designs funky and nonconventional! You were in the Vanilla kingdom, tucked away in the palace. It was a bright sunny day, the wind calm with a pleasant breeze to break the heat of the morning sun. You awoke to the scent of vanilla, strong as it always was in this growing ‘kingdom’- at least that’s what you call it. Speaking of he, Saint Vanilla wasn’t present in the room. You shifted in the sheets of your bed, the scent of vanilla still lingering so he likely had checked in on you before leaving. Likely for morning sermon. You sighed as you took in the moment of peace you’ve been granted. It’s been rather hard staying in the vanilla kingdom, you missed home.. you missed having alone time. You could tell, that despite being physically alone, you were still being watched. The eyes the of the vanilla orchids always following you, even in your shared living space.

You were seized on a morning such as this one, the Saint taking great interest in you. You had spoken with him as Pure Vanilla, considered him a close friend even… those feelings must have carried over when he became a beast. He didn’t purify you on the spot. Instead, he opted to save you for last. You remembered it clearly.

The benevolent Saint Vanilla had you cornered in your own home, his lambs standing at the front doors, windows blocked with similar forces. His arms outstretched like a best friend member reuniting with you… except he wasn’t your dear friend anymore. He was someone else now- the sweet man you knew for years twisted into some.. beast. Instead, you shall have the greatest honor of all, should you stay by my side. You shall witness my ascension, my deliverance as I rescue all of Earthbread!” His smile grew a touch warm as he finally closed the space between you, his arms wrapped around you now. He was warm… his robes of silk dances on your trembling skin. Despite the danger you faced, you were oddly.. calmed by his embrace. Though you couldn’t bring yourself to hug him back you were too terrified out of your mind to move- after all one wrong motion and you were as good as the dust that lingered on your shelving. He spoke up once more, “I hope you can forgive me and my selfish soul. I do promise to rescue you from this world one day.. you’ll be mine in this world and the next… I promise.” You could feel his tears stain your shoulder, but you refused to be fooled by such crocodile tears. He’s ‘purified’ entire civilizations- he was a beast but you were his lamb.

So against better judgment, you stayed in that bed, ever since that faithful day you aimed to change his views one step at a time and mend the broken man he’d become. Perhaps you can save the world from his ever gleaming kindness through peace. Though, as you reminisced and contemplated, the savior himself entered the room after sermon. Ah right… you slept through that. Though he was never upset, even now all he ever wore was a soft, welcoming smile.

“Ah. Good morning, little lamb.” He chuckled, walking over to your side of the bed and petting your hair. You on the other hand sat up finally after bed rotting and looked up at him, a smile on your face to match his. “Heh.. Good morning. Sorry I slept through another one of your… meetings.” You always hated calling them sermons despite what the lambs say. It felt too cultish- you were still denial that’s what this was. “Oh, don’t worry your little head about it, orchid.. you need your sleep to stay as strong as always.” If you didn’t know any better, he was the gentlest and kindest soul ever. You wish that he was… “Thanks.. you’re always so understanding.” You sighed in minor relief, it’s not like you expected him to upset about it after all- he never really experienced anger like that as far as you knew. “How can I not be? Every soul is bound to make mistakes. It’s merely the nature of it. If getting extra sleep is what aids you in your strength and safety then so be it..”, He responded. As you two had your conversation, the Saint had found your cheeks and gently played with them. Holding your face his hands, gently massaging, and over all just being as physically affectionate as he usually was. His hands were usually used for killing so you theorized that he enjoyed having someone to hold without the need for them to turn to dust. Even if he believed it was a necessary sacrifice for the greater good of the soul it must be nice to have something- someone tangible. “Now then,” He spoke up, “Why don’t we get up and out of bed? We have a beautiful day ahead of us and I think a walk would do you some good, my little flower.”

anon my friend i had a draft post about exactly that. that there is really only six of us LMAFO despite grian and jimmy being massively popular characters. its not like solidarian is better than any other grian or jim ship, but in terms of content and notoriety, both scarian and smallidarity have them beat.

i think solidarian is so interesting because both of them have been with eachother since EVO. Literally the “beginning” and then after that, you have grian visiting many of the servers jimmy plays on including esmp 1 and 2 just to see him across universe. their dynamic as southlanders and bad boys is crazy, grian contributing to jimmys death in both cases despite originally being aligned with him. they both witnessed each others marriages and subsequent divorce (desert duo and flower husbands).

grian is always teasing him on purpose just because he likes too and his control freak attitude is so good paired with jimmys need to follow someone reliable. the cherry on top is all the guess the build moments like swimming under a waterfall naked & grian admitting jimmy is his best friend despite always taking the piss out of him. their history is soo extensive and it drives me craazzyy… its so codependent in the sense that theyre both in denial about it and yet they orbit eachother like magnets. Unlike Joel where the flirting is pretty direct, there’s this fuzzy gray barrier that neither of them are willing to cross (especially not grian despite all his affection for jimmy)

Classism is just something that plays a huge part in mdzs, and it's such a shame that not many people can understand how big of a deal it is.

The way Wei Wuxian combats how he is treated in the gentry will always be awe-inspiring to me. How he always rises up even though most would push him down. Not many fanfics write about this struggle and instead focus on fix-its (gosh, it's so annoying just because of how they're written). Those fix-its don't understand how the cultivation world works at all, they think just making Wei Wuxian change a decision will make the world a better place but it's not!

Ultimately, the thing that the mdzs fandom (and the others, too) tend to get wrong about the classism convo is that they falsely believe that certain characters are good or evil based on class status and that everything would be resolved if everyone was a part of the “good” economic class because the “bad” economic class makes it impossible for people to be good. It’s where you get arguments like “wwx is only a good person because he was “raised rich,” while jgy and xy were never given the chance. If they had been raised rich, they would’ve been good, too!” or “lwj can afford to be a good person because he’s a clan heir, unlike wwx who had to struggle.”

This blatantly ignores how characters across the class spectrum share or have opposing moralities, even amongst those with similar backgrounds. A major theme in mdzs is that people should stand up for what’s right even if they do not gain approval or favors from their peers or superiors for doing so. Mianmian is a servant who rejects discipleship under the clan that employed her after having her position elevated, just to do the right thing. Lan Wangji is a great clan heir who rejects his family’s stance on morality because his clan was wrong. Both had different difficulties to face due to their circumstances but still made the same moral decision. Mxtx characters have autonomy and choose when to do right or wrong, and nothing about their class status changes that.
