Dream is a total wanker, and I don't even want to mention him on my blog really, but I honestly could never fucking forget the "WHY has GRIAN, who in my opinion is not great at PvP, killed me at least 8 times in PVP games, yet I have NEVER finished ahead of him in buildmart". Still the funniest fucking shit ever

I think the funniest thing about Bill's backstory is it changes nothing in terms of how I view him as a whole, like there's absolutely a sense of tragedy to what happened to his parents and his dimension, but it makes everything he ended up doing even worse in retrospect
my mans out here burying his head in the sand so he doesn't have to think about how he ruined everything while he continues to ruin everything and then has the nerve to get touchy about it, bro really out here putting Ford through the goddamn shredder both mentally and physically and then still thinks he can convince him to rule the universe with him, like if you feel for the guy more power to ya you're totally valid but it just makes me wanna see his ass kicked again
like I always loved that Bill was this insane bad guy who just did what he wanted but the context of his backstory makes everything so much worse because it doesn't stop him, he is and will forever be this garbage creature who fucks everything up because he's unwilling to learn from his mistakes and I kinda love that

Enids secret favorite movie is But I’m a cheerleader. She would like the colors, the representation, the cinematography, the representation of a blonde girl thought to be a stereotypical bimbo but turns out to be a complex character that becomes one of the bravest in the movie by accepting who she is regardless of consequences. But she would keep it a secret because she fears she is appropriating gay culture and she isn’t gay (this are just silly thoughts)
Upon further analysis SOMEONE GET THIS GIRL TO WATCH IT, omg it would make her realize she is a lesbian and maybe even compare her relationship with Wednesday to the main characters. And honestly I can see her quoting the movie.
Tumblr media
POV Enid quoting this in her mind the moment she realizes she is a big lesbian for Wednesday.
Like don’t get me wrong she wouldn’t say it in like a homophobic way, I just think she is like me and quotes movies and shows for entreatment.

fuck i’m thinking about calamity xie lian and wu ming and the fact that . even at his worst. for xie lian. after being the most selfless person for his people. that selflessness being returned with pure selfishness. that he became that way because of someone literally fucking with him soley because they were jealous of xie lians kindness and so desperately wanted xie lian to break. and when he did. wu ming was there. he was literally created from xie lians suffering. he had seen xie lian in his princely glory. seen him fight for his people. and watched as he could do nothing while those people turned against their prince in such a vile way. that wu ming was ready to greet him, to fight with him and constantly bloody his hands for him. even at xie lians absolute worst, the only who had always believed in him, and literally his last believer, still doing anything for him except agree to stop believing in him. the level of devotion to keep reminding xie lian who he is even when he didn’t want to be. the fact that when one person showed xie lian kindness again. wu ming was there, his most devoted believer, to die for him, again, because it will always be an honour to die for his highness. and before he died, he got to see xie lian come back to himself, back to the kindness he knew was always within - but even if he didn’t, he still would’ve followed him. because he loved xie lian, was so devoted and saw how people threw him to the dirt. he would do anything to take any burden away from xie lian. and he did.

It seems like we're expected to not ship Donna and the Doctor because they are individually complex and interesting characters.
Throughout their time together, their interactions are built upon giving deeper insight on who they both are individually, rather than extensive shipping fodder or teasing about the nature of their relationship.
Donna doesn't save the Doctor at the end of The Runaway Bride because she was the only person in the world who could have. She saves him because that's who she is. She is kind, and compassionate, and empathetic, and there's no way she would have left him there.
It's not so much a grand commentary on the nature of their relationship, and how they are 'just so cosmically meant to be', as it is a moment for her to show us (the audience) who she is.
It's not because he already has some kind of undying love for her, he never would have listened to anyone else, or because he's willing to live only for her, or any of that.
It's that she's the kind of person who reaches out and cares even after a really rough day, when the spaceman is scaring her by drowning spider babies.
The moment is about who she is.
And they keep being allowed to be like this, where their interactions aren't relegated to being only about their relationship with each other. If anything the way they interact with each other is used like a launching point to deepen our connection to each character individually.
(Probably because we're not supposed to ship them lol. Okay definitely.)
I have to come back and elaborate on this with further specific Doctor/Donna when I get the braincell back from Bora Bora, but basically:
I love a fictional relationship where the writing is focused on deepening my understanding of and affection for each character individually, and then letting me come to the conclusion, based on an intimate understanding of each character's deepest convictions, insecurities, fears, and values that I want these two to be together.
The thing is, there is a wealth of writing out there that spends all of the character's screen time telling you to ship the characters, all too often at the expense of our investment in the characters as whole people outside of that relationship.
In my tastes, it is far more compelling and satisfying have the chance to fall in love with both characters individually without the writer feeling the need to bathe every moment of interaction in big flashing signs telling me: THEYRE EVERYTHING TO EACH OTHER!!! GET IT? LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!!!
It's so literary to me. Pride and Prejudice isn't iconic because Lizzy and Darcy spend every moment together, talking about each other, pontificating on the nature of their relationship and why a hypothetical reader should totally ship them.
They actually don't have a lot screen time (or page time) together.
It's iconic because we get to see who both characters are, what they value, how their failures affect them, why we should love them both.
And for the majority of readers, loving them both is enough to convince us to love them together. Why? Because we know them well enough to know they will be good together.

Please correct me if I'm wrong I scrolled through the official dndads Twitter like once (I'm not getting on that app even if my life depends on it) but I remember them mentioning that they think it would be SO FUNNY if they did a dating sim... YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW BADLY I NEED THAT TO BE REAL. I'M NOT EVEN ATTRACTED TO ANY OF THE CHARACTERS BUT LIKE. HEAR ME OUT. I'm talking s1 dads specifically... A dating sim in the vain of that other dad dating sim (I forgot what it was called sorry) with the main 4. It's fully voice acted. There's a plethora of different paths and wacky scenarios to go through depending on who and what you choose. Do you see the vision (I mean that's how all dating sims work but shhh). They would treat the player as a party member and force them to go on unrelated, frankly dumb sidequests with them in Faerun. SCREW IT JUST A DNDADS VISUAL NOVEL IN GENERAL. THEY CAN ADD MULTIPLE DLCS FOR SEASONS 2 AND 3. IT WOULD WORK SO WELL BECAUSE THE PODCAST'S OUTLANDISH HUMOR REALLY COULD FIT INTO THE VISUAL NOVEL FORMAT. They should do a Kickstarter or a Patreon stretch goal and hire a few talented artists and game designers. IK THAT'S A LOT OF EFFORT FOR A SIDE PROJECT BUT. Please. I feel as though there's an audience for it. Anyways. Happy Father's day dndadders

Tiktok really is as much of a cesspool of weird Marius antis misinterpreting everything he does in the least charitable way possible as twitter is... Next up, more people insisting that the relationships he had with the boys he apprenticed had to be creepy cause he's suuch a creepy pedo creep...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why do they want him to have a harem of young boys so bad?? 😭
Tumblr media
So I responded…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again they want him to have a harem soooo bad… Also grooming just means having any kind of relationship with minors I guess...
Tumblr media
He was a master teaching and apprenticing school aged boys?? Can the man not have a career!? 😭 Also implying I must be a weirdo who needs to “heal” okay… Like I wasn’t even talking about Armand or Pandora. But I will defend him on that front as well lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't even know how to respond to this... What do you mean exclusively young beautiful boys?? 😭 They were just boys!! THEY WANT HIM TO HAVE A HAREM OF BOYS SOOOO FUCKING BADLY LIKE?? Also, if he had somehow apprenticed girls (not rlly a thing at the time but whatever) these people would doubly be calling him creepy for no reason, like my man really can't win with these people.
Armand "thinks" he was in love with him lmao. Wait no!! Don't actually take what Armand has said in his own damn book as his emotional truth, just project your own feelings onto him of what you think he SHOULD feel about his relationship with Marius, that's how to interpret media right?!😃
Marius should really hire me as his defense lawyer, I would make daddy soooo proud😋😋
Anyway, idk why I like arguing with Marius antis, I'm just a chronically online little guy with too much time on my hands, in the trenches for daddy and idk I just like to argue about blorbos, I mean no ill will to anyone here.

You know who would be friends?
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
These four. I need to draw a crossover between them some time.
Just a guy and his parasitic (but not really more like mutualistic) canabalistic bodymate for whom their antagonism for each other grew to a deep trust and love (one is decidedly more romantic in nature but still) and in which the human never truly learned to appreciate their other until they left by sacrificing themselves for him.
They have so much in common I think Migi and Venom would rant about their hosts not taking care of themselves and being genuinely stupid.
Shinichi and Eddie would relate to adjusting to sharing a body and having to explain human customs and culture.
They both have a “the monster becomes more human and learns empathy and love and the human becomes more of a monster and learns to be brutal” dynamic going on.
Guys they mean so much to me I could rant about this for hours.

The most frustrating thing about liking complex and morally grey—maybe leaning a bit more towards morally black—characters is that you have to deal with both sides of people who try to simplify and reduce that character to a few superficial traits that either absolutely detest that character with all their being or worship them wholeheartedly as a result.
You can’t say you like a character because of their flaws or wrongdoings or else the side that hates that character will take your appreciation of those things as you trying to endorse them and will go out of their way to even suggest that those same flaws or wrongdoings must be reflected within your own life. Because how else could you endorse the actions or beliefs of such a terrible character? But the other side will also mistakenly perceive your appreciation of those imperfections in that character as you trying to justify them and will therefore use it to prove their own viewpoint. The viewpoint that the character wasn’t wrong in the first place and shouldn’t be seen as so complicated of a person because, in their mind, they never actually were. Anyone who sees them as complicated is “misunderstanding” or “misinterpreting” them and their intentions since their motivations were quite simple all along.
I, for whatever reason, am not allowed to like a character in media simply because they’re ambiguous. Because their nuance makes them feel more fleshed out, more real.
I must like them only because I see them as good, and I need to be able to argue why I see them as good.
That seems to be the overarching dispute between those who do and those who don’t like those types of characters. At least from what I’ve noticed.
The thing is, this isn’t even a case of whether or not a character is actually good. I mean, you can write one of the most vile, unarguably evil characters ever and they can still be seen as complex. And one character’s complexity shouldn’t undermine how “good” they might actually be.
I feel like people just hate characters that are written to be multi-dimensional because they themselves can’t as easily fit them into their black and white worldview of morality. It’s not so much of a matter of whether or not that character is actually right or good, it’s more about the fact that people can’t seem to be able to distinguish the difference between what makes a character complex and what ideals they uphold.
And, of course, the fact that people seem to think that you can only like things as long as they can fit within their own sense of morals and ethics. You can’t like something or someone that doesn’t reflect your own values according to them. And if you do, well… Apparently that must certainly say something about you.
Though, again, this is all just stuff I’ve picked up on overtime.
