okay so I gotta say, I don’t believe the whole “vampires cannot make good art” thing. I just don’t buy it. Like, call me biased, but as a writer, I don’t think you could talk the way they do and not be good at least at writing. There’s no way.

As such: what I personally think is actually happening is something far more mundane. Picture this - you've just been turned. Vampirism has enhanced everything about you, so your senses are like 10 times more distracting, you're stronger, faster, you're murdering nightly, you're most likely born out of some sort of trauma, and on top of that you've got years to compound whatever issues you already had - which, surprise surprise, are also somehow more intense now, whodathunk, mainly because your senses/murder/immortality are fucking with them BIG. Seriously, think about it: how much would vampire senses exacerbate symptoms of ADHD or autism? Would the species change, the nocturnal lifestyle, the mind gift contribute to dissociation, psychosis, schizophrenia? Would the killings and the loss of community be a factor in the way your depression might develop - or religious scrupulosity? OCD?

It's not that vampires cannot make good art. It's just that it becomes supremely difficult to do so, especially given that they cannot take human medication/finding a nocturnal therapist would be a bitch even if you're modern/Louiiss mon cher what eez a coping mechanisme y'know. I am convinced with 100000% certainty that, given enough time and dedication a vampire could absolutely make good art again* - though, in all fairness, very few of the ones we know possess the patience. Mind gifts/vampire speed + strength/inherited riches tend to destroy that sort of skill real fast; still, though, it's not a curse. It's symptoms disease.

* It is also possible, just as it is for humans, to develop all sorts of technical skills and still lack the “eye” for art (cough Marius cough) - but in that case, maybe try music?.. start writing? Get into ASMR? you’ve got an eternity to fuck around. Do whatever.

The explanation for why totk’s story is so Not Great and how disconnected from its predecessor it feels being that the devs didn’t want to alienate new players who didn’t know anything about botw’s story just falls apart the more I think about it. Nothing from this stupid half a plot works unless the player is familiar with specific details from the better games that came before it.

The believability of Link and Zelda’s connection to each other hinges on you knowing about the nuance of their relationship in botw. The ancient sages fighting with the champions’ arms and divine beast helms will only be impactful to botw/aoc players because totk doesn’t bother to explain the significance of that callback at all. Fi’s cameo is meaningless unless you either got every memory in botw or finished the master trial dlc (and know about her from skyward sword). You’ll only get the full context of Teba being sidelined in favour of a 12-year old if you played a specific chapter of Age of Calamity’s second DLC. Like sorry but I think Nintendo just made a bad story tbh

okay i'm like 3 episodes behind on fantasy high so no spoilers BUT

i'm absolutely in love with all of the shade towards the soil club, because the only time i have to watch is while i'm doing soil experiments for my phd. I was literally sitting in a lab that is entirely focused on soil, holding a beaker of soil and water, as Riz told his mom how weird it was that it's a soil club and not a plant club. My only New Year's resolution is to make my bathroom prettier.

I hung up new colourful (as much as it goes in these landlord beige days anyway) shower curtains, and now I want to make things more colourful. Looking at tile stickers and stuff like that.

And maybe I should get a sewing machine, but that's wishful dreaming right now. So, we stick to the pretty bathroom.

He notices, and remarks on, any changes in the old man's routine. How he looks. What mood he's in. Genos notices these things, and we've seen how heavily it weighs on him if he feels he's upset the old man. Not to mention, what the old man actually has to say about things.

Genos will smell a rat for sure. And unlike Garou, whose instinct on seeing something he doesn't like is to come up and slap it, his is to step the hell back and keep it at burning length.

He'd probably need a guitar made specifically for him though since hes so huge which is fun to think about. And it'd sound deeper too bc of the reverb box being bigger as well which would be topical... very swag
