#the acolyte spoilers#torbin was being. a bit selfish and that was ALSO a problem#but with Koril Kelnacca Sol and Indara it was straight up that they had incomplete information and thought they were on a time limit#and then fast forwards 16 years and Mae (who ALSO has incomplete information!) thinks that the Jedi came there solely to kill her family#for practicing the Dark. which is wrong. and she goes ahead and kills some for that#there’s a lot of misconceptions and those lead to mistakes. and Indaraand Aniseya had the least misconceptions and the most patience#and now everything’s gone wrong for everyone involved and it distinctly wasn’t an institutional thing on the Jedi’s part#Indara (the one most in-touch with the Council) spent the whole episode saying “be patient and think things through’’ and lo and behold!#the others failed to be patient and think things through and a bunch of people died!#star wars#star wars the acolyte#the acolyte

#my art#the x files#dana scully#fox mulder#alex krycek#i was talking about this on twitter yesterday but#i have a LOTTTTTT a lot of thought about this part of season two#mainly because i think that while scully probably realized she was never going to find peace ever again after emily#i do believe that the last time mulder ever thought everything would be okay was right before scully’s abduction#which is also kind of why i think mulder was closer to killing himself in ascension than in gethsemane#at the end of season four mulder is kind of resigned to his and scully’s lives unravelling#he’s more suspicious and slower to trust then he ever was#while ascension was the first time he was like. Oh okay. It’s over for us forever and ever#and the fact that he was still open and still kind of okay before that just kind of makes it worse#that he was just betrayed and left hanging and lost everyone he thought he had in one fell swoop#ascension jades the fuck out of him and you can see it. like through the whole series there are threads of it#his tendency to rely on skinner regresses for a while. he becomes even less functional when scully is gone.#he has far less patience for his informants and he refuses to rely on anyone the way he tried to on krycek#like it’s just. such an obvious shift in his character that you can tell his mindset about his and scully’s life has changed#and that’s a huge part of the show’s tragedy i think. there is no peace. there is no rest. it’s never going to be okay

Specifically, like, if the way Trish is reading the implications of her childhood "lunacy" is correct, that her family forcefully institutionalized her as a child, and what impact that had on her
She plays her cards so close to her chest, she doesn't trust easily, yet she loves fiercely
Based on her narration, her takeaway from the trauma (or, more likely, a takeaway from the trauma) was that the people she loved could still hurt her, even withour meaning it
How much of this was Gavilar, and how much was Navani? Did this have reverberations through the family to Renarin, the other neurospicy Kholin who likes to keep secrets?

OHH it's all good don't worry! :D I can do any pair, I just thought it'd be fun if people got creative with the pairings hehe
IN the meantime...I've thought about Envy and Fear before, because a bunch of my fanfic ideas take some time to focus on their friendship. With that said, I'm still a little unsure how to write Envy even if she's a fascinating character on her own. Alsoooo it's a little bit hard to tell how they'd interact because canon doesn't give us a lot to work with, but it's really fun to think about KDJFHSJKDFH
I do think Envy looks up to Fear (pun intended), in the way that he's smart and quick-thinking. In turn, I think Fear would really appreciate her words. He'd also be the type to carry Envy around and goof off with her (or at least look after her if she's getting rowdy--she's so small, after all). I think Envy would be a good motivator for Fear to try new things their friends are doing, maybe inspire him to get out of his comfort zone! And Fear's there to be careful and temper that desire if things get a little scary or dangerous, and if Envy's going too far.
If they wind up on the same page, though, I feel like they could make a special brand of insecurity. Envy's constant comparisons with others could really enhance Fear's hold on Riley's self-esteem, and maybe even on his own self-esteem. Because as much as Envy loves pointing out the things she likes about others, she's also just as prone to point out the things she likes that aren't there...would it be such a stretch to say that even she doesn't have great self-esteem herself? She's either a yes-man (trying to impress someone/hopefully get respected) or she can convince someone that her motivations are correct and beneficial (and she usually believes she's doing something good). Fear's a solid voice of reason but again, highlighting his (or Riley's) flaws could really get his gears going a mile a minute. This COULD be a good drive for self-improvement, if they don't make Riley so nervous and feel inadequate she couldn't do anything. Whoopsies.

m flipfloppin between giant and totem (def reskinned) for her rn! giant would be Really funny for junior year and there's some thematic stuff for the transformation element I think would be interesting, but just purely on a character basis I think fig would love totem esp. as a barbie girl in freshman year. if I land on totem I kinda imagine it like a wuxia animal style thing tbh, mostly just because the idea of someone coming into a fight expecting typical movie shaolin choreography and getting Teenager That Mauls You To Death is entertaining to me
