#x 2022 #pearl #maxxxine #x series #strait-jacket #psycho #what ever happened to baby jane #horror #psycho-biddy #hagsploitation #made this whole big thing which i still might post eventually but. in terms of aesthetics. this abridged version is better lol #i'm not gonna finish the other post tonight but consider this a preview of sorts #i can't stop thinking about what if they leaned more into the 'hagsploitation' aspect of it all lol #i actually find it odd + off-putting that they start and end maxxxine with a bette davis reference #with a big significant psycho cameo at the bates motel itself #and there's not really any payoff for those allusions!!#i think if you're gonna try to tie into a legacy of older horror films you should do it in a sincere way #because that just felt like 'elevated horror' bonus points + nostalgia bait #anyway. it's fun to think about the potential it had + how all the building blocks exist within the narrative to do something interesting #and i am a 1960s hagsploitation subgenre apologist lol #what ever happened to baby jane? changed my brain chemistry the first time i watched it as a kid #so maybe i'm just nostalgia baiting myself making these connections lmao #but it could have been so good #it could have been the perfect synthesis of the shared themes across all three movies #but i don't think hagsploitation gets butts in movie theater seats like girlboss 80s nostalgia vaguely true crime related shit #oh wait also i guess calling psycho a hagsploitation movie is like. probably not 100% accurate #but it is though. it's not an inversion of the subgenre bc the subgenre didn't exist yet #but it builds up a mystery 'psycho-biddy' character only to reveal that she's not the murderer #which is also what happens in strait-jacket so i think it counts!!#+ psycho is directly referenced in all 3 movies so it’s a pretty clear influence on the trilogy as a whole

Just a little something to commemorate August’s two closest friends in the valley ! August and Abigail hit it off right away when August first moves in, and she really is like a partner in crime to August. Shane takes a *lot* longer to come around, but he manages to eventually, and they really develop an almost sibling like relationship over the years. She’s incredibly grateful for the both of them and they definitely made moving in sooo much easier :)

hi

#i'm alive. simply being chewed upon by multiple things #work is more stressful than i'd like it to be. for instance i'm hoping that i submitted my time off notification for tomorrow correctly #because otherwise it might read as a no call no show and i would . like to continue having a job #now to be fair. i do have it on the system that i requested it at the beginning of the month and i emailed my supervisor about it last week #so even if i didn't submit it correctly i'm likely in the clear #but nonetheless. i also got a firm talking-to the other day and now i am on ✨thin ice✨ for dicking around too much #because they track ur idle time at my work (computer) and mine was Quite High so my supervisor was like man what the hell is this #but even though she was kind of baffled at me spending so much time dicking around #she couldn't even really be all that mad in the end because i'm still doing good numbers and have made no (zero) mistakes #so she was just like. it's kind of impressive that your numbers look this good when you literally have 50% idle time #so she goes imagine what you could do if you weren't wasting so much time #and yeah i can whip out some Really Good Numbrers when i put the effort in.#so the problem is not my numbers it's just that i'm not spending long enough doing my tasks for the day #but i don't want to drag out those tasks intentionally so i've just been upping my own standards/goals #as much as i hate giving any more of my brain power than is necessary to giant corporations #it's still easy to feel smug after you get Talked To and then immediately turn around and show off #like yeah i coulda been doing this good the whole time. literally pulling up by 20 points. i just didn't want to.#trying to keep everyone's expectations low but accidentally toed the line of um. not working enough to keep my job #...anyway. having a stressful time at work but i think it's very important to point out the other day i was asking a guy for help and he's like aight gotcha and then we go to this freezer room and he, from somewhere beyond a mound of boxes, just goes "you like anime right?"

sir this is the FIRST TIME we have spoken how did you clock that.

(he claims i had the vibes of someone who liked it then i was like oh like the woman in the deli wearing a jujutsu- and before i can finish the series name he says "no not her, she just liked the shirt. she's never watched anime". . . oh. i see. you have already had this debate with her then. okay.)

EDIT UPDATE:

So I got clocked AGAIN as a weeb by a coworker because I saw part of her outfit and was like "oh, Attack on Titan?" and while I then said I've never watched it she said that's fair then "do you know anything about vtubers?" and I just. Are you kidding me. I mean yeah but like. Why is your safe question with me "do you know about vtubers".

#moe talks a lot #not art #also im trying to swap from pick up to stocking and specifically dairy stocking #bc they seem to always have the hardest time keeping things stocked #and all of pick up has to stop them from working to ask for things in the back which keeps things from getting stocked #and this one guy made a terrible mistake of telling me #yeah we're like the unwanted ginger stepkids of the grocery store #because my brain immediately went NO IM ADOPTING THE DAIRY DEPARTMENT AS MY BELOVED GINGER KIDS #i told my mom that comment and she immediately laughed and said welp thats your department now #before i could even tell her i mentally adopted them #anyway gotta get to bed soon bc i do actually think i was a bit sick ? im so tired despite napping earlier #and only working a partial shift (five hours instead of eight)#sooooo gotta get rested up for the next three (or more!) days #since ive been cursed with no social life and will always work saturday and sunday #so even though my current schedule ends saturday and the next week schedule will be released At Some Point for sunday onward #i have yet to have a sunday off so i am most likely working sunday again #like the job itself is rough and i dont think the pick up workers like me much but every other department seems v nice and chill #i will continue to write essays in the tags no one can stop me

We all know Timmy is Wanda’s mama’s boy but we need to keep in mind he’s still Cosmo’s kid too and that Cosmo would love him just as vehemently as Wanda

#fairly oddparents #not that anyone has portrayed him different #certainly not distance he loves Timmy he probably says it the most in the show and in fanon #but still- watching New Wish there felt like there was a disconnect with Cosmos character-like he wasn’t as well defined as he was in OG #that’s in part due to them toning him down from being an idiot plain and simple but I feel like it wasn’t fitted with something else it was #simply taken away #just to say he didn’t have as much of a presence to me in New Wish as Wanda did and I crave spinning Cosmo around in my brain #I want to see Poof being his Dad’s Boy yknow and I want to see cosmo doting and I want to see when he gets like. parental rage for the sake #of his kids #yknow? Yknow? part of him feeling detached in a new wish has translated into him not wanting to get as close to Hazel as he did Timmy-#to try and play it more like godparents are supposed to- just a presence for a couple months #but also because like. he got SO attached to Timmy and he’ll never regret it and he’d never do anything different #but idk. if it were me I wouldn’t have the capacity to go through losing my godkid again after becoming that attached #that’s not even mentioning that they don’t HAVE to be in hazel’s life the same way they were in Timmy’s because Timmy was going through #neglect and Hazel has loving family and friends all around her at all times- her blocks are mental #in that way cosmo and Wanda just have to do the Typical Godparent Job of aiding her- not becoming people she desperately needs in life #which also bleeds into why I think Peri was having such a. difficult time #godparents aren’t supposed to be attached the way his family was to Timmy and that how he learned it #but his first godkid is Not Easy and lends immediately to the issues Timmy was having where he HAS parents he HAS things (though . Timmy #was not rich and would sometimes not be fed… dev’s dad also forgets to feed him but dev is still able to eat you know)#and how he grew up with his parents as godparents and how he’s been taught are conflicting and it’s nature vs doing a good job quoteunquote #I didn’t mean to ramble so damn much in the tags I’m really sorry #told myself if I had more to say I’d write it down and post it later but I must be heard.

i think the whole cringe is dead, radical sincerity, depth of genuine emotion, earnest effort, and unironic love thing that tumblr has going on the past few years has transformed my outlook on things and changed me for the better. but it does mean that now the people i know irl will give me strange looks for being too sappy or too poetic or too dedicated or too excited about about something because they're still stuck in their "well i only like this ironically" phase. guess that's their problem tho not mine <3
