Oh, and this should go without saying; but it’s a Fair Warning to y’all:

If I see Vi being treated the same way y’all treated Gwen Stacy after ATSV there WILL be hell to pay!

(I have no doubt in my mind that the Arcane writers will be able to connect Vi’s past with Enforcers and her going down this path in a way that makes sense. But y’all can’t be treating Vi like evil scum before the season even comes out 🤦‍♀️) (pretty sure I’m once again talking to Jinx stans specifically here but whatever…)

(I also think they’re making a Point to show how much Vi’s hair/tutu thing/general appearance clashes with the Enforcer uniform. Also I think Cait’s beret color is Supposed to stand out as she is Sheriff and all, cuz everyone other than Vi is wearing beret’s here and they’re all the same color. I know it sounds like a “no shit Sherlock” thing but some people are already saying stuff like this soooo yea gotta point out the obvious I guess…)

⋆ — "Nice, right?" Ezreal turns this way and that to show off his new suit, tailored with an expert's hand. "I even got a decoration for my gauntlet. Weapons're allowed, of course, since it's in Noxus." He's chattering as he often does, but there's a nervous energy underneath it that betrays his true feelings. The Black Rose is something that he's heard just enough about to not want to have anything to do with, so to have it invite him personally, both as Jarro and as Ezreal, makes him more than a little uneasy.

— Anyways! It's totally not something he can't handle, either way. Maybe they want to congratulate him for the Noxian artefacts he's uncovered over the years? Yeah, that's totally why.

Still, it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion. "Hey, so — have you heard of the Black Rose?" And if his voice drops to a whisper when he says their name, so what? Don't overthink it.

There is a call for him. A brisk, bright call at an hour perhaps too early for most. But he has a job to do, so there will be a message waiting for him once he has finished carpe-ing the diem.

"Ah, a shame. I had hoped to reach you before you departed."

She hums, and there's a muffled creak as she leans back in her chair. Her office. Early morning. There will be a cup of tea on her desk. She'll be going over the details of the mission he's on, no doubt. Worrying about him, before she decided to call him.

"In that case, I shall first wish you well, and hope your travels go smoothly."

His work, too, what they've planned together, but she must be careful, in case these transmissions are intercepted or overheard.

"Mind the roads and skies," she says, and her own gaze will turn to the window, the wide office view of Piltover in pre-dawn light. "I am sure they'll treat you well and bring you back safely."

She adjusts her posture, eyes trailing to the calendar on Vi's desk. Yesterday's date is still plain in view, but Caitlyn knows what lies beneath. Even if Julian might have forgotten, in his preparations and his haste to depart on this urgent and trusted task.

"And secondly..." She takes a breath, and perhaps she smiles, that wry knowing look which he has immortalised in paint, the only portrait she has ever sat for. "Happy birthday, Julian."

A soft clink of porcelain, as she lifts her cup from her saucer. Perhaps she toasts the air with it - toasts him, wherever he may be - before she takes a sip and ends the call.

It's only the day after that Julian is able the listen to the message, yesterday having been fully seized - by himself and by his obligations. He plays it over a very early breakfast, the sun still hiding below the horizon, and has to set his mug down lest he drop it.

Well. Perhaps it isn't that dramatic. But he still feels an unsteadiness in his hands regardless, listening to Caitlyn's well-wishes and her congratulation. Julian has to imagine that she smiled as she said those words, a particular quirk of the lips that may as well be a grin on her face. He has to suppose that it's only expected that she'd know his birthday - his actual birthday, not the date written on his documentation - considering that she knows where he came from. Who he was.

Still.

It's a bit embarrassing, especially if he considers what happened on this day two years ago. She's most certainly connected the dots between it all, and has almost certainly had that same wry smile at the coincidence of his birth date and Heartseekers' Day. If Julian were feeling more poetic and less bone-tired, he might muse about predestination, but instead he just picks up his mug and takes a long sip of tea.

He replays the message and brings his mug up for a solitary toast, somehow knowing that she'd done just the same.

don’t shoot me, but i would’ve loved to see caitlyn be even MORE of a villain but tbh some of yall could not handle all that. so let me explain:

i think it would’ve been so entertaining, so devastating and perfect if Caitlyn really did fall into this puppeteer-dictatorship where she was strung up on a throne, and blamed for all of Ambessa’s wishes and desires.

Because she’s not only a Kiramman, but an outcasted Kiramman, ever since she was a child, right? Nobody liked her, she had no friends other than Jayce, who was always older and too busy for her. She can take the heat and the pressure and the shit-talk because she’s already used to it. From childhood, to rookie enforcement. Her natural state is this stoic neutrality, this Mask she wears to preserve herself, her family name.

The mask she wears now, to preserve this reputation being crowned on her. This cold, calculating commander whom no one can cry or convince to move illogically.

So seeing Caitlyn slowly deteriorate, episode by episode, giving up her morals in Ambessa’s pursuit of justice, would be so awful and lovely to watch.

To think that Caitlyn in season one breaks Vi out of jail, only now to be the one imprisoning people. To be re-poisoning streets after dismantling shimmer factories, to be completely emotionally devoid after hugging a shimmer-ravaged stranger in one of the deepest cracks of the sumps.

It would be a complete unraveling of her character. We get to the bones, we get the worst of her, of what she’s capable of. What her name and power in this story is capable of.

We learn this is someone to be feared. Who doesn’t flinch under rage or hatred, who doesn’t care to be known or understood so long as her orders are followed.

And then just as she reaches this point of being “unredeemable” the mask finally drops. It’s unexpectedly terrifying. Everything turns on its head.

And then Caitlyn proves yet again that no one ever truly knows what she’s planning, or her next move. No one knows that she’s always been one step ahead, and this betrayal of Ambessa has been a long time coming. Because she’s known about her manipulative memorial attack, she’s known that Ambessa has been grooming her. She’s been seething and biding her time and now she gets to enjoy the grim realization on her face as Caitlyn finally outsmarts her.

Her torturous patience, her ruined reputation, the loss and betrayal of her one true love—every single knife has prepared her for this moment. The final kill. The one that bleeds her dry, that tears into her, that makes her this monster.

But it’s a monster worth redeeming. It’s a monster that understands why Jinx blew up the council. After seeing firsthand (and abusing herself) the control Piltover has over Zaun. How much they’re responsible for ruining their land, their health, their lives. It’s her lowest moment and it’s when our Caitlyn finally returns, only with blood on her hands.

Blood she can’t clean off. Blood she can’t take back. Blood that flashes now when she closes her eyes, when she finally cries into them at what she’s done.

I think her lines of “no amount of good deeds can undo what we’ve done” would be so much stronger here, if she added, “but it doesn’t mean we don’t try.”

This is when we see the start of Caitlyn’s lore, finally taking shape. The Sheriff of Piltover, this beautiful, immovable staple of the city. Who can command airships and snipe foreign infiltrators, and solve any mystery thrown her way.

She can be known as ruthless, cold and calculating, a complete dictator to work with. But we know that’s just the mask, because we’ve seen how she is in quiet moments with Vi. With people she’s saved. That tenderness that never really went away in season one, even for a stranger.

Her redemption starts with giving up her Council seat to a leader of Zaun. It’s relieving herself of this corruption that comes with her name, her status. She uses what remaining power she has to release Jinx from captivity, and ban inhumane cells in Stillwater. She reinforces the ventilation tunnels for their original purpose and tries to sleep at night. She can’t undo her mistakes but she can continue making changes that are worthwhile. She can threaten to pull funding from the Wardens when violence builds, and keep archives of dirty secrets—just in case anyone with power gets too out of line.

Caitlyn could earn our trust back, with all these small unseen steps. She can pull the strings of this city, but no amount of good deeds will redeem her from what she’s done. So she works tirelessly and isolates in her family mansion.

And her only indulgence is one of love. The quiet nights she expects to be alone, only to find Violet by her window—opening the glass and simultaneously her heart. Her cold, unredeemable heart that Vi accepts without hesitation, for reasons she’ll never come to understand. Other than Vi being the only good in the world, while she represented everything evil.

Caitlyn does not believe she’s a good person. But what makes her so bittersweet as a character is that she works hard to be. All because of these devastating lessons she had to learn.

Being good is a choice someone like her has to make. It has to be a consistent breaking against this mold of privilege and power. For Vi, for people like her. The hope of that statement.

For the love of a stranger, and the grief of a mother—who died trying to vote for peace.

Interesting to see ppl think Vi is gonna remain an Enforcer like "putting down her wraps in the Epilogue" imagery aside, the Bitch Mittens are gone. Yes, Vi could learn to remake them (as she does maintenance of them in the actual League lore) but like, why? Why subject herself to that again (see: the epilogue). Like, other than I can see her trying that maybe in the Urgot situation when they get around to it (she gets inspired by the Jinx insult about the bitch mittens and tries her hand at building) but like outside of it, she and Caitlyn can still be "in this fight" without actually fighting if you know what I mean? They can resolve problems without continuing the cycle of violence which is (one of) Arcane's main theme.

You knock on the door and enter carefully. Caitlyn is focused on talking to some enforcers, discussing some important information. But out of the corner of her eye, she notices you and signals for you to enter the room. You're visibly upset about something and she picks up on it. The conversation seems to go on forever, but she assures you that it's already over. Once the enforcers have left the room, she gets up from her chair and walks towards you.

"Darling, what's wrong? You seems a little upset. Is there something bothering you?"

Anxiety takes over your body, you can't respond except for a nervous glance at Caitlyn. She gently puts her hands on your face, trying to calm you down.

"It's alright sweetie. You can tell me what's upsetting you. Im here to help you, you know that, right?"- She says in her soft voice.

You hesitate, but Caitlyn's gentle gaze makes your heart calm and you nod.

"It's because... I failed. I'm sorry"- You say with a sad look in your face.

Her heart melts as she listens you. She gentle places her hand on your shoulder.

"Sweetheart, it's okay. Everyone make mistakes. We all fail sometimes. What happened, my darling boy?"

"I supposed to be a big boy now, but i can't even do that... I failed with you"- You try your best to not let yourself slip

Caitlyn's heart aches at your words. Her maternal instincts kick in seeing you so vulnerable and little. She pulls you into a hug, holding you close to her, feeling how little you are at the moment.

"Oh my love, don't say that. You've never failed to me, never. I know sometimes is too difficult to be a big boy, isn't it?"

You dont answer, just nods with a sad puppy face. Her heart aches even more, trying to sooth you, stroking your hair.

"It's okay, baby. You don't need to be big all the time. Sometimes you just need a little time"- She says with a tender gaze. "You're feeling small now, that's my priority. I can take a break and stay with you, okay darling?"

You feel the guilt sinking into your chest. Caitlyn would have to take time off work to look after you and that makes you feel guilty.

"But mam- Cait, im supposed to be a big boy"

Her heart aches as she listens to you, she gentle cups your face, caressing your cheek with her thumb.

"Shhh, baby. There's no supposed to be anything. You don't have to be big if you can't. Somtimes It's doesn't work and that's okay, alright? You don't have to force yourself to be big if you're feeling so little. Mama is always here for you, my love"

She pulls you into a embrace, gentle rocking you. And you two stay in that silent embrace, but it is cozy.

"Okay, baby boy, now let youserlf completely slip into your little headspace, alright? Mama's here to take care of you"

"But mama, and what if one of your enforcers see me regressed? I can't let myself slip here"

"Oh, i got it sweetheart. I understand why you're worried. But don't worry, no one will barge in or catch you in your little boy mode, i promise you. But even if they do, mama will handle it. I'll keep my kid safe"

Seeing your mama's confidence makes you feel better, less worried. You can't help but chuckle

"Using your sheriff power again mama, how naughty"

Caitlyn chuckles, her eyes sparkling with a hint of mischievousness

"You know me too well, right, baby boy? Of course I'll use my sheriff power if i've to. I'm not gonna let anyone mess with my kiddo, no metter where we are or who sees us. Mama's a sheriff, and also a Kiramman, no one can mess with her"- She gives a cheeky smile to you. "And we can lock the door, it will give us more privacity and you can be my adorable little boy. Mama will use her sheriff power and no one will disturb us"- She says, smiling to you.

She take some steps until the door and lock it, then back to you. Your eyes wander to your backpack near the couch, remembering what you brought with you.

"I brought something"

Caitlyn follows your gaze to the backpack near to the couch, and her curiosity is piqued.

"Oh, you brought something with you? What is inside the bag, my love? Show mama. I'm curious to see what you have"

You walk over to the backpack, pick it up and open it, revealing what's inside, some of your regression gear. Caitlyn takes some steps closer.

"Oh, my prince, you brought your gear with you? That's so sweet. You want to choose by yourself or do you want mama to pick for you?"- She says with her voice filled with affection.

You look to her with your puppy face and she knew you started to regress further.

"Mama choose"

She smiles gently and nods

"Of course, prince. Mama will pick for you. I know what my baby boy needs"

She glances through the itens, carefully considering each item. Then, she selects a blue pacifier and a puppy plush. Caitlyn gently lifts the paci between your lips, slipping it into your mouth. Then she hands the plush to you.

"Here you go, baby. All comfy now?"- She gentle asks, with a maternal tone.

You nod and she smiles to you. She sits on her chair and pats her lap, signaling to you come to her lap.

"Come here, baby boy!"

You runs to her and sits in her lap excited. She can't help but chuckle with your enthusiasm.

"Here you go, my little prince. Sitting right here where you belong, in mama's lap. Let me hold you for a moment, okay?"

You nod and rests your head on her chest and she begins to rock you gently. The time seems to stop when you're in Caitlyn's lap, being wrapped in her warmth like a blanket. Then, the paperwork on her desk catch your attention, seemed a very important document. She notices your glance at her paperwork.

"You curious about mama's paperwork? Let me show you"

Caitlyn picks the document on the desk and shows to you. She explain to you the importance of her work. Then, back the paper to the desk.

"So, darling, i need to finish them, but don't worry, i'll wold you all the time and you can be my little helper and keep me company, okay?"

"I'll be a sheriff like mama?"- You ask with your eyes shinning

She can't help but chuckle. She give a kiss on your forehead, filled with affection.

"Of course you'll. Now you are a little sheriff, mama's little sheriff. Can you be a good boy for mama and stay still for me? I promise it won't take long"

You nod with a smile behind your pacifier, Caitlyn smiles back to you and kiss the top of your head. She gently adjusts you on her lap, making sure you're comfortable. She also grabs a couple of documents in one hand, while gently runs her fingers through your hair with the other hand.

She starts working through her paperwork, her focus mostly on the documents in the desk. But that doesn't mean she didn't pay attention on you, she still keeps her other hand around you, occasionally giving head pats and caresses, or murmuring sweet words and praises.

You just relax in her arms, feeling her warmth and the material of her uniform. Having you against her brings the sense of comfort she needs to concentrate on the task. When the pile of document seems smaller, she lets out a satisfied sigh.

"Almost done, my little sheriff! You don't know how much I want to cuddle with you"- She says with her voice filled with affection.

Don't let too much to her finish all the paperwork, organizing the last pile of documents. She sighs in relief, relaxing in the chair. You give a smile to her as a praise for her work.

"Good job mama!"

Caitlyn's heart melts in affection, she gives a gentle kiss on your cheek.

"And good job for being a well-behaved little boy. Thanks for being so patient to mama, made everything easier for me focus and get my work done. You're the best little sheriff"

You look at her with your big puppy eyes.

"Now we can cuddle?"

"Of course, my darling! We can cuddle as long you want. You've deserve some cuddles for being a excellent good boy! Mama loves you so much"

She gently wraps her arms around you, rocking back and forth. Sometimes being a big boy is a hard task, but that's okay, because mama is always there to make things easier.
