I once saw a post where someone speculated that Emelie and Amalie couldn’t get pregnant without the miraculous because they were trans and Felix and Adrien look alike because they are essentially clones of their mothers who are twins
And I know a lot of people headcannon Adrien as trans (Which I LIVE for) which would make a lot of sense with this theory
But have we considered… Trans Felix + Lesbian Kagami?

had a s5 (only up to elation) + paris special watch party with a friend and enjoyed their thoughts
“i don’t know why felix would be mad about that. he’s the most boring character ever. if anyone should be mad about that it should be adrien.” (about adrien being a sentimonster)
(five minutes later) “unless felix is also a sentimonster. that’s probably why he hates adrien.”
“she’s kinda really sexy as a cyborg” (about nathalie)
“poor, poor adrien. they just love to make him suffer”
“he and lila should date. they’d be perfect together” (about felix)
“so she’s falling for chat noir now? i kinda like that that’s kinda cute. WAIT THATS WHAT YOU MEAN BY LADYNOIR IS DEAD. wait i guess im okay with that i guess i guessssss WAIT THATS NOT FAIR”
“yeah. banish her from france” (about chloe)
“such a bad bitch. such a sexy siren secretary cyborg” (again. about nathalie)

gn!reader, no physical descriptions. one tiny mention of skipping breakfast, but that's it. FLUFF!! I’ve missed writing for knb!! I love kagami so much, take this as my warm up to get used to writing him again.
based on prompt 3 from this list :)
Tumblr media
“you’re so warm and soft,” you mumble, leaning against kagami as you both wait in line at the grocery store. “it’s so unfair.” he’s decked out in a black hoodie, some jeans, and a tuque you had insisted he wear before leaving the house.
your boyfriend, who is apparently a walking space heater, somehow doesn’t seem to be affected by the winter chill that you’re dreading having to face when you're done paying.
kagami chuckles, rubbing your back up and down. “thanks, you’re shivering.”
you glare up at him and he holds you steady as you both shuffle forward a bit more. "don't you, like, hate the cold? how haven't you been complaining at all today?"
he snorts. "because we're inside, babe. besides, it's a short walk from here to the car, I can handle that no problem."
you roll your eyes and press your forehead against his chest. "unfair," you repeat.
"well maybe you'd be warmer right now if you had eaten a full breakfast." he chides, reminding you of how hungry you are and souring your mood a bit.
your face scrunches up. "I told you I'd eat after getting back! and in my defense, we didn’t have anything to make for breakfast to begin with since someone used up the last of my oatmeal."
instead of responding, your boyfriend turns you around so you can get ready to shuffle forward again and greet the cashier now that it's your turn to check out.
the girl, probably no older than seventeen, glances up briefly with a polite smile at you and kagami before doing a double take. you grin slightly as she watches him load your haul onto the belt, clearly recognizing him from somewhere.
now that he's made a name for himself in the NBA, more people have been noticing him, and you find it endearing. he gets so uncharacteristically shy interacting those who recognize him, and today is no different, apparently, because you see his cheeks turn pink as he keeps his head down, probably feeling her gaze on him.
you think she's about to ask him a question before shaking her head and snapping her mouth shut. she finishes scanning the items and asks you "um, how would you like to pay?"
you realize your mistake too late and scramble to answer her while fishing out the cash from your wallet, but kagami beats you to it. "card."
you glare up at him, forgetting any adoration you'd been feeling for him moments ago. "no way, it's my turn."
he shrugs and tries to insert his card into the machine but you block him. "taiga!"
this happens every time you go out together.
you’ve turned it into a competition of sorts, to see who’s faster and can pay first. it’s not like there’s a prize, or anything at all to be gained, really…
except the satisfaction of winning.
you were in the lead, well on your way to securing a two point gap, but now you’re back to being tied.
it’s clear that any embarrassment he was harbouring is gone as he looks at you, cocky grin playing on his lips and determination clear in his eyes. "just let me, I already had my card out anyway. it's fine, baby, you can take the loss."
you look behind him, still blocking the machine and realize the line is continuously growing. deciding it's not worth making a scene and holding all those people up, you very reluctantly lower your arm and start putting the bags back into the cart.
"you're gonna pay for this," you say menacingly as he nods at the cashier in thanks and takes the receipt.
he snorts. "I just did. what, have you got short term memory or something?"
"you-" groaning, you pull your hood on and bundle it tightly around your face. it's not as cold now that the sun is a bit higher in the sky, but the wind still feels sharp against your skin. "just don't get too comfortable, alright? who knows when I could strike."
he shakes his head in amusement and helps you load everything into the trunk of your car. "alright, alright. let's get you home so you can actually eat something."
_______________________________________________
BONUS:
after you get home and settle on the couch with the hearty breakfast kagami made for you, you scroll on your phone and see a post that catches your attention. you snort and tilt your screen towards the man beside you.
user020125: kagami taiga and his partner were getting groceries where I work today and they were bickering over who was going to pay like an old married couple. romance isn’t dead yet, folks.
“ah jeez,” he groans. “at least no one took a picture this time.”
you giggle and rest your head on his shoulder, staring up at him. “it’s kinda sweet, though, don’t you think?”
“what is?” he asks.
“that we give off old married couple vibes,” you soften your voice a bit and watch him ponder on it.
he nudges your arm nods at your plate, as if to say ‘eat, baby’ which only backs up the comment on your mind.
“I…” he pauses briefly to find the right words.
after a moment he meets your eyes. his normally fiery gaze is now softened, resembling a flickering candle rather than the scorching flames of a forest fire. his entire expression radiates warmth and love.
“I can’t wait to spend all that time with you actually becoming an old married couple,” he murmurs, reaching over to cup your cheek, which is still full with the bite you took. “I couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone else, baby.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
this is like. extremely short and I apologize for that, but I wanted to write something for him again 🥹
@dira333 this is why I asked you for a random number a while back hehe
@emmyrosee tagging you too, you can’t escape him, sorry :/
tsurugi’s influence in revelator: let’s talk about it
something i noticed while watching revelator was the underlying implication that ms tsurugi is still very much active in the inner workings of the agreste family.
let’s set the record straight: we know very little about ms tsurugi’s partnership with gabriel from the earlier seasons. however, we do know that ms tsurugi is a very wealthy, smart, and cunning individual who owns a business in the technology industry, allowing for her to team up with gabriel to create the alliance rings in s5. she knew gabriel was monarch and willingly working with him (very important to note that she did not work for him), her intentions a mystery.
obviously, what made me realize tsurugi likely had some involvement in the events of revelator was vincent mentioning she sponsored him in one of his videos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
seems kinda meaningless at face value, like something the writers inserted to fill an awkward space in the script. however, if you watch miraculous, you know that everything is intentional.
okay, so ms tsurugi sponsors this recently famous influencer who makes a living off of spreading false information about people. this is odd, as it doesn’t seem like the type of content tsurugi (a very no-nonsense type of person) would endorse.
on the contrary, vincent’s videos are coincidentally targeted at “reporting” on people who tsurugi had some sort of personal connection to. weird, right?
the most obvious example of this is how vincent is very clearly anti-adrienette. tsurugi and gabriel pushed hard for adrien and kagami to get together in earlier seasons to create “perfect” images for their brands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as soon as these words came out of his mouth, sirens immediately went off in my mind. WHY is vincent, a seemingly irrelevant character, using the same type of language gabriel and tsurugi used to describe their own children???
rich, famous, good-looking. vincent is glorifying adrien and kagami, describing them as pretty and powerful faces that shouldn’t be involved with common people such as marinette, a baker’s daughter (who he implied is using adrien for his status and success).
language like this has been used to describe adrien since his adrien, the fragrance days—perfect being the most prominent word. why? the lore is insane (iykyk), but to put it simply, adrien is a sentimonster, a creation in the eyes of gabriel. he believed his son could be nothing short of flawless.
a theory common in the miraculous fandom is that kagami is also a sentimonster. i won’t dive into this theory too much, but there’s plenty of concrete evidence to back it up—a noteworthy one being tsurugi using similar language to describe her daughter as gabriel did for adrien. she has high expectations for kagami, and wants her to be nothing short of the best—exactly how gabriel “parented” adrien.
from vincent’s video, it’s implied that tsurugi paid him to spread hurtful misinformation that marinette was a golddigger. her motivation? to get kagami and adrien back together. we already know she hates felix, her daughter’s current boyfriend, so it makes sense.
a possible counterargument:
“vincent is just creating meaningless drama revolving around the popular topic of gabriel agreste’s death, as it offers the opportunities for him to gain popularity”
respectfully, nothing is meaningless in miraculous. maybe i would agree with this argument if TSURUGI of all people didn’t sponsor his content. maybe i would agree with this argument if he didn’t spread false information that clearly villainized marinette and glorified kagami. he also obviously has it OUT for mari. don’t tell me he’s not obsessed with making people hate her because HELLOOOOOO:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
people are gonna love hating the baker girl.
it’s giving very much lila/cerise vibes, honestly. i wouldn’t be surprised if this was some scheme involving tsurugi and lila to turn everyone against marinette, something cerise has been trying to do SINCE SEASON ONE.
so, what do i believe? i believe FOR SURE that tsurugi has something to do with the events of revelator, likely paying vincent to spread misinformation about marinette with the hopes of kagami and adrien getting back together. i also believe it’s very possible cerise is somehow involved in this, maybe working with tsurugi in some way.
LET ME ALSO SAY: tsurugi only cares about marinette because she is preventing kagami from a relationship with adrien. she would not care about ruining marinette’s life otherwise. cerise, however? she obviously hates mari. if tsurugi and cerise did work together to orchestrate vincent’s secrets, it benefitted BOTH of them: pushed for an adrigami redemption (for tsurugi) and demonized marinette publicly (for cerise).
i’m feeling a lil bit like cerise with her thousands of notebooks with this all over the place rant, but lmk what yall think 😭😭😭
Ahhhhh! I'm so excited someone still writes for KnB, makes me so happy! Your fics are top notch!
Could you possibly to Aomine and Kagami (separate) reacting to their girl rapping WAP?Can be Nsfw pls? Thank you!
Tumblr media
"𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗔𝗬?" — Your boyfriend reacting to you singing a very... Crude song.
note: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I'm really shocked not a lot of knb writers write for them anymore! But thank you, and everyone for your support!
Content warnings:
Tumblr media
★ — 𝗔𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗘
You pressed your playlist, and put it on shuffle. You started to undress as your fav song came on, WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Well, it’s not your favorite song, but it brings you back! You restart the song and get into the shower. The warm water instantly relaxing your muscles as you sung along with Cardi.
Aomine had just gotten home from an intense game down on the basketball courts. It was intense for the other players more so, but the game never ended until his team (more him) got to 200 points, that was the bet, which Aomine with no doubt won, 1,000 USD. His sweaty stinky body lurked up the stairs.
He could hear the shower running, and your loud voice, singing: “I want you to park that big Mack truck right in this little garage.” And so on. His eye twitched at the words, he himself very much knowing what those mean, and doesn’t know you talked like that.
He entered the bathroom, wincing at the hit steam, himself already being so hot. You could see him coming in through the glass, but you couldn’t see the look on his face as you continued to rap, “Gobble me, swallow me, drip down the side of me, quick, jump out 'fore you let it get inside of me, I tell him where to put it, never tell him where I'm 'bout to be I run down on him 'fore I have a guy running me.”
The more you rapped those lyrics, the more shocked he became. Who are you? So after your little show, and you dried off in the shower, Aomine no longer was in the bathroom, no he was not. He was sitting on the bed waiting for you to come out so he can wash out that filthy little mouth of yours.
“Uh huh, wanna talk all that shit, probably don’t even know what it means, huh?” You choked on his dick as it reached the literal back of your throat. You wanted to take him how you wanted, but this wasn’t for you.
“Why you cryin’? Was talking about wanting all of this earlier! Just giving you what you want!” He pushed your head up and down, your throat spawning trying to protect its sensitive walls. Your spit was all over you lower chin and his dick. Tears spilled down your face as you felt his dick twitch.
“Take this shit.” He came into your mouth making you force yourself off of him and you coughed. He smirked, and wiped the tears from your eyes.
“Good girl.”
★ — 𝗞𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗜
Kagami laid on your shared bed, resting while you talked in the phone with your friend in the bathroom. A song started playing that nobody in their innocent mind should be singing. You started mumbling to the words as you did your post-shower care. Your friend laughed hearing you sing along with the song, voice much louder.
She pointed out how you sang it, “stop singing about what you want and go get it, he’s literally a door away.” She joked, but that wasn’t very funny to you. “Yeah, but he’s not really into that..” you sighed, and she bursted out laughing mocking you.
Once you got off the phone with her and headed out of the bathroom, Kagami’s chest hit your face. You winced and got ready to yell at him, but before you could he picked you up and pushed you against the wall, you practically sitting on his shoulders. He pushed your panties to the side and began to eat you out
“Kagami, chill!” You moaned as he ate you out. He was grunting like a fucking hungry dog, and you couldn’t help but wonder what got him like this.
You didn’t wonder long, you soon were pulling his red locks as you came for the 3rd time. He flicked his tongue in your bud, making you scream in overstimulation.
He brought you over to the bed and laid you down. He removed your panties, and spit on his dick.
“Could have told me you wanted to do more than what we usually do. A song shouldn’t have decided that.” He slowly pushed in, knowing you weren’t all too familiar with his size. He started thrusting, and you smiled, thinking to yourself,
“Thank you Cardi and Megan.”
The London special did so much for Marinette’s character and I think a lot of people are just ignoring it due to them being disapproving of her decision to lie to Adrien.
But like that’s the point.
I don’t think there’s a single moment in the special that frames Marinette’s decision as a good thing, instead it is presented as a choice that Marinette isn’t confident in but ultimately makes due to a fear of the consequences of the alternative option.
When asked, Bunnix, who knows the full outcome of this decision, doesn’t tell Marinette whether what she did was the right thing to do, only that the important part is how she “owns up” to her decision and how she acts from here.
While Nathalie and Kagami, the only other characters we see react to her plan, actively disagree with Marinette’s choice but follow it regardless because it is Ladybug’s choice to make.
Only she has the position to make this choice.
It is a burden she chooses to put upon herself because more than anything she wants to protect Adrien. Because Marinette, at 14 years old thrust into an incredibly complex emotional situation, does not know what the right decision is and can only hope she makes the right choice. So she follows her heart and sacrifices her mental state in an attempt to save Adrien’s in anyway she can.
And It breaks her… You can see it in her eyes and hear it in her voice. It’s haunting. She hates this decision more than anyone else possibly could, she can hardly bring herself to tell Adrien her lie and yet she still does. It adds so much depth and weight to her character and her actions. It makes her interesting.
TAGGING: @cherievivi / @vioisgoinginsane / @amaribelt / @twstchatterbox thank u guys for going along w my random question HASJHDSAHGD well except for rubia bc she was Obvious
Tumblr media
Jin Kamurai
Jin sees you in the garden from time to time, just sitting with the flowers and staring at the sky. Sometimes, if he feels like it, he’ll come down and sit with you.
He likes those moments. It’s peaceful to be with you, letting his eyes drift along your robes, letting his soul slowly merge with yours.
You’re so untouched. Frostheim and his legacy and Darkwick hasn’t made a single blemish on you, and it soothes him.
He’d cut down anyone who tried to hurt you, anyway.
You seem to like his classical music choices a lot, and so he’ll play them for you every time he sees you outside.
Jin watches you scale trees and run barefoot through the forest, quickly and light as a feather. You are truly in your element when you're free.
And when you’re free, you’re the happiest he’ll ever see you. He knows that well.
Sho Haizono
The first time Sho ever saw you, he nearly ran you over. He hadn’t been driving too dangerously, even though Leo had insisted he get those errands done immediately so he had to take a shortcut through the forest and...
He can tell you’re foraging right away. Sho knows he spooked you, but you’re still staring at him from behind that tree, so maybe he didn’t totally frighten you off? He’d feel bad if he did.
And so, he keeps meeting up with you, watching over your shoulder as you take care of the forest animals and show him different edible plants.
Leo asks him where he’s going and he doesn’t respond, unwilling to give you up. Who knows what Leo would do if he knew you existed.
He’s grown to really, really care about you. And if there’s a single thing Sho would ever ask of you, it’s for you to feel the same about him.
Ritsu Shinjo
Ritsu, despite all of his talk of having an unbreakable composure, does find himself drawn to you. Maybe it’s because of the lamp light you shine when situations get dire, or the mysterious way your robe cascades down your shoulders, but he wants to know more.
And so, he asks. He introduces himself as Ritsu Shinjo, Sinostra first year, paralegal. If you have any problem, don’t hesitate to come to him, and here is his business card.
Your expression is as aloof as always, and if it wasn’t for his unbreakable spirit he might have viewed you turning your back on him as rejection.
But it wasn’t. You took his card.
Despite the fact that you do not contact him, he still sees you around, and strikes up conversations with you. It’s hard to get a hold of your behavioral model because he always finds you somewhere else.
You seem to gravitate towards Hotarubi for reasons unknown. You spend a lot of time with Rui. When placed in a situation where fatalities rise, you are unaffected.
Fascinating.
Subaru Kagami
It’s impolite to stare, Subaru knows this well. But part of him can’t help it when it comes to you. Your hair is like the drooping, soft petals of the wisteria, and your robes are as delicate as fallen leaves against the sunlight.
You seem eager to be around him, never quite saying much but always wrapping your arms around him.
He jumped the first few times, expecting the rush of memories. It never comes.
Subaru doesn’t know what it is about you that jams his stigma, but he revels in it. Being able to freely touch another person not only delights him, but you too.
He can tell. Perhaps you’re one in the same.
He takes you for walks around Hotarubi’s grounds, watching you lean over the side of the lake and stare at the petals in the water.
He tells you your hair is pretty, you smile and duck your head behind it, bashful.
Subaru’s heart stumbles on his chest, and he thinks he might love you.
The strangest beauty he’s ever met.
Haku Kusanagi
Haku wishes he could dive into you and live in the coolness you embody. It’s a crime that he can’t spend every waking moment staring into your eyes, or marveling at your hair, or whispering praise into your skin.
You’ve fought hard to be where you are, and Haku knows that well. He’s hesitant to say he knows it better than anyone, but if he were being honest (and not humble for once) he does.
He’s glad you dedicated to make the land your home, to stay up here with him when you could be in someplace that would be arguably more comfortable.
That’s why he takes you to the lakes in Hotarubi, watching you like you’re a goddess as you swim and splash and float in the misty waters.
He’d do so much just to see you happy, don’t you know that already?
So how can he convince you that all his flirting is serious?
How can he get you to realize that he wants to be yours?
Akumatized Kagami in ChocoAU! 🌸🐲🌱
She meets Adrien for a date at the Louvre, hoping it will go well and dispel her nagging thoughts and they can learn to love each other. But she finds him looking at Marinette with eyes she has never seen before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kagami is transformed into Hanabira! She turns the museum into a kind of rainforest/jungle. Chat Noir and Ladybug have to evade her sentimonster Senryu, which turns people into grass hedge sculptures as they are overwhelmed them with what Kagami is feeling.
Plus some ref art of her!
Tumblr media
Thank you @generalluxun for the name ideas!! THEY FIT VERY WELL AND ARE SUPER CUTE 🫶
ranking the miraculous kids by how likely they are to reveal their secret identity to their s/o
(excluding the obvious canonical cases like lovesquare, djwifi, nathmarc, or the fact that felix has absolutely told kagami everything he knows)
alix: is aro. she is sooooo aro and also she’s hopping through time, so even if she found it in her somehow to experiment. like. girl has her priorities straight.
luka: i know he’s canonically single right now, but like, let’s imagine a context where he’s still dating marinette. still not gonna tell her. that boy is very mature and would know how important it is to keep your mouth shut for the sake of everyone he loves, no matter what.
kagami: we don’t know if she’s told felix about ryuko! i say it’s very likely she has but only because of their insane rich kid cult upbringing and plot forcing her to this point, because otherwise, if she were dating, say, adrien, she would take her secrecy very seriously. girl was brought up on responsibility. if she doesn’t have a brief moment of recklessness like when she just outed herself to her mom on day one
max: yeah yeah he’s ace and single, but like, bear with me, imagine it’s like. a qpr. with alix, say, or maybe kim. max is very responsible and would treat his secret identity seriously, but he’s way less inclined to take secrets to the grave like someone like kagami, but neither is he as put together as luka is, and maybe someday he’s having a rough patch, and things are piling up on him! so like. i’d give it something in like, a 10% chance, which is relatively low, and that if he’s in that kind of relationship. but still higher than previous characters.
zoe: we’re talking if she ever got together with like, sabrina or marinette. well…girl knows how to keep secrets, whether she likes it or not. but this time it’s for good. it’s a good thing. so not likely, but possible.
mylene: mylene is so committed to good causes, to the point of civil disobedience tactics, so i think that, even though she doesn’t like lying to ivan, she knows that he would understand if he were in her situation. so it would take something pretty rough to actually shake that commitment.
ivan: i think ivan would be more likely than mylene to slip up and tell her but same as mylene, he’s a pretty brave guy, who could hold on to a secret like that even when things are rough. i do think that he might slip up because if his superhero identity ever got in the way of his relationship and ever made mylene feel lonely or abandoned, he would not stand for that.
juleka: juleka tries her best, but she’s also the kind of person who needs a strong support network to face herself and her fears, and she would have absolutely confidence that rose would be careful with her secret. so honestly it’s not an insignificant possibility.
rose: while rose is a little less plagued by doubts and in need of reassurance, what would get her is that she feels like juleka deserves everything. just total honesty. and it wouldn’t even be because of a potential conflict like ivan, it might even be out of principle. which is very sweet but also kind of dangerous. sweetheart, please don’t.
sabrina: i think she takes ladybug’s trust very seriously but given she just got out of an intensely dependent abusive relationship, i think if or when sabrina gets with someone, she’s not gonna be able to weather the rough patches that come with keeping secrets from your partner. oops.
kim: kim probably told ondine the day party crasher happened. xuppu gives him hell about his secret identity and kim was like, hey, how was i supposed to know this was going to be a permanent thing? you didn’t come with a contract! and even though after xuppu made it clear he shouldn’t tell anyone now… ondine knows. like. kim will not bother making a whole new persona using the monkey miraculous. it was king monkey when he fought party crasher, and it’s king monkey now, so.
i want to request Generation of Miracles (knb) reacting to their so being ex gymnasts and/ athlete if possible? Like it just came up in a casual conversation with a parent of s/o showing off old pictures of s/o training and winning medals and trophies but it all unexpectedly ended up with a serious hands injury so they stopped right before a big world wide event? She’s just as flexible as before now with lighter training than before!
Akashi
Surprised in himself that he didn’t know. Akashi makes it a point to be well informed. He is pleased to hear their parents be so proud of them, even if they can’t compete anymore. It’s a rare thing for him for parents to be proud. He does see though that talking about the past hurts them, so he quickly moves to change the conversation to new, current achievements.
Aomine
Aomine never knew. But then again, he didn’t ask. He suddenly realizes talking to their parents that he doesn’t know a lot about his partner, other than just superficial junk that’s not really important. He asks why they never told him about it and they tell him it’s not important anymore, but he can tell that it is. If he lost basketball Aomine would lose it. He can’t think about what they must be going through, losing their dream, and he’s hurt that they didn’t trust him enough to share it with him.
Kise
Excited to talk about their accomplishment. Even though they can’t compete anymore, their work beforehand and their work & knowledge now is impressive. Kise is the only one that doesn’t treat their injury like a loss, but that and opportunity to change course. Like coaching. Or being a manager of a team. He encourages them to continue doing what they love, even if they can’t do it exactly the same, and is supportive of their new goals.
Kuroko
It’s certainly a surprise. Since Kuroko has never met this person, the ‘athlete s/o’, it’s definitely a shift in his opinion of them. He asks a lot of questions on what competitions were like or what is was like doing stunts, but he doesn’t really know too much about the sport of gymnastics. Basketball has been the only one he was ever interested in. Tries to be supportive and notices when they get a little upset talking about it. When he lost his old friends after middle school, he thought he would lose his friends & sport forever. So he can sympathize.
Midorima
He figured that they were some kind of athlete. Based on their build and how they worked out sometimes, they clearly had a strict schedule and routine for performance. Midorimia feels bad for them. He can’t imagine your dream getting taken away like that. All that hard work down the drain. Chooses to not bring it up anymore because he doesn’t want to upset them, but does ask for stretching tips as that is a big part of gymnastics training.
Murasakibara
Doesn’t really know what to say. Murasakibara has never really been interested in his sport. He plays it cause he’s tall, he’s good at it, and it gives him something to do. He would be just as happy not play as he is on a team. So he can’t really understand what they are going through. He thinks their medals are cool though. He’s never gotten a medal for basketball. Maybe if they had those instead of trophies he would be more invested.
+Kagami
It breaks his heart to know that their career is over. Kagami would die if he could never play basketball again, or his dreams of going pro were suddenly over. He can’t imagine how hard that must be, but he knows someone who does. Kagami makes a point to introduce them to Alex. Alex would understand and be a good support person for them. Teaching them how to cope and maybe use their skills for a new hobby or path. Kagami tries to be supportive as well and a source of comfort when they need it. Whatever they need he’s there for them.
As someone who grew up in poverty, the pretence that Chloé was never a victim of abuse because she’s rich sounds so incredibly moronic to me for two reason.
First, privilege cushions oppression and abuse but does NOT erase them. In my life I’ve had to deal with a lot of tone-deaf rich kids whose petty complains screamed first world problem, but guess what? None of that was about being abused and neglected. No I don’t want to hear about your daddy refusing to buy you a new car. YES I want you to speak out if they’re neglecting and/or emotionally abusing you. Children as a class are severely ignored. They do not have agency even if they are the richest people on the planet, because that money belongs to their parents who can take it away from their child at any given moment. This is also the reason why André being lifted of any responsibility for the way Chloé was raised is such bullshit, but I digress.
Now to reason number two – I’m under the impression ML pats itself on the back for its supposedly eat the rich message. This is part of a bigger problem which is the inability of the writing crew to show rather than tell. Marinette life is SO normal, right? She only happens to go to school with the richest kids in town and to be the daughter of the people who run the most appreciated bakery in Paris and to be in touch with several famous people and—
You get it. You cannot “This is just a kids show!” your way out of this because either ML teaches important lessons or it’s not supposed to be taken seriously. You can’t randomly decide which is it based on what’s most convenient to you. That’s not how it works. So yeah, sure, Chloé (and Adrien and Kagami and Félix) is rich, but the other characters are never shown to struggle financially and are if anything the sons and daughters of pretty important people. The only time Marinette has money trouble is when we find out her parents were saving up to send her to Shangai, but that’s pretty normal. A normal family can’t just think “Sure, let’s fly to another continent” and do that the day after. ‘Cause you know, money.
That still doesn’t mean Marinette is struggling financially. She has a lovely home and a perfect family – that’s so much more many people, me included, can account for. So what, Marinette’s trauma doesn’t account for anything because she’s privileged? Is this the logic the ML fandom was fed and thought “Yeah, sounds pretty good to me!” What is this show’s problem, really.
---
Miraculous wants to have its cake and eat it too in terms of many things. The writers often include contradictory elements into the show, which is why every detail is important to the “larger picture”, unless it isn't, in which case the show is really simple and there's no need to pay attention to details and fans are just overthinking things. There's a reason actual media analysts avoid this show like the plague now; there's no reward for paying attention because the writers arbitrarily contradict themselves in several episodes, often more times than once in the same episode even. The whole “Adrien apologises to Marinette for what happened with Lila thing” is extra confusing because of the constant contradictions.
The crew are also incredibly cowardly when it comes to actually saying something. We have a blatant allegory for racism when Roland opposed Tom and Sabine’s interracial marriage because they used “rice flour” in baking, but the writers deny this was an allegory when people bring it up. The crew are only comfortable saying something “political” when it's the most milk-toast, fence-sitting take imaginable. As I’ve pointed out before, their idea of a “green episode” was the mayor shooting trashcans into space, which was basically the show going: “don't litter!” Poison Ivy in the nineties was bolder.
That said, of course Miraculous isn't going to tackle the complexities of privilege in any meaningful way. In their eyes, you're privileged and evil if you're telling your rich parents to buy you stuff. Ignore Marinette getting a whole-ass scooter and a trip to Shanghai, because she didn't ask for those things so she isn't privileged. She's a good girl who deserves nice things, unlike Chloé, who's mean so her dad buying her expensive gifts to make up for neglecting her emotionally makes her privileged and evil. The writers want the no-care life of being well-off for all their cast, and even play around with the glamour of wealth several times, so any attempt at a "eat the rich" angle is ultimately insincere.
In addition, the writers still insist on vindicating the rich white men who even create the problems in the green episode, which just makes this mess even more confusing. Because the writers are stanning Gabriel and André, we get the actual businessmen intimidating anyone beneath them socially, the ones who actually own the wealth, treated more sympathetically than a teenaged bully whose dad buys her nice things, sometimes after she asks but often without her asking. Of course, considering Gabe's from rags-to-riches background (wildly exaggerated, considering his parents are still small business owners), you could think the creators are only critical of "unearned" wealth, if it wasn't for the Marinette Exception.
There's also the aspect of how the writers seem to only count wealth as a privilege after it passes a certain threshold, and otherwise they ignore the topic of wealth completely. Considering there isn't a single character in this series that's shown financially struggling even temporarily, there clearly isn't anything definitive (read: potentially upsetting) to be said about class privilege. Frankly, I think Chloé is the primary target of the "eat the rich" angle specifically because no one can argue someone who's never worked using her father's money to one-up her peers and screw people over is not privileged. It's, as I put it, the most milk-toast, fence-sitting take on wealth privilege imaginable. "Being a jerk about being wealthy is bad!" No shit, Sherlock. Good job, clown crew.
There's also the element of Marinette's special treatment, of course, since we still can't argue Marinette is working for the money she's spending since the people spending money on her are her parents, grandmother and boyfriends, while Marinette never mentions using her potential commission/babysitting money for anything (although I don't think they even discuss her payments for these jobs which just proves how meaningless they are). Marinette is never shown spending her own money on screen, but we repeatedly see other people use money for her benefit. Chloé is the only other character shown to get paid for like this, but for her, it's a sign of her undeserved privilege and being spoiled, while, for Marinette, it's more of a perk that she totally deserves.
The way Marinette's exception is presented reads like Miraculous is trying to sell you on the notion of "inherent goodness". If you're a good enough person, everything you do, is good or a forgivable mistake. This is the double standard they apply to Marinette when compared to anyone else, because only Marinette is good enough to reach "inherent goodness" levels. She is the goodest kid in the world according to Santa Claus himself, the greatest Ladybug ever according to Jeanne d’Arc and the best version of herself according to Sublimation. All of this means that Marinette is inherently good so she can never do anything that's really that bad and she deserved all the perks and praise.
Note
On today‘s episode of „moments in the show that confuse me“, s5ep19 has a piece of dialogue that goes something like this
Marinette: (about how Gabe doesn’t approve of her) He thinks I‘m one of those fans who follows you around everywhere, showers you with gifts and knows all your (Adrien‘s) middle name days
Kagami: Isn‘t that what you used to do Marinette?
Marinette: Yeah but I did it out of love
This scene is so odd because it feels weirdly self-aware but at the same time it really isn‘t? To me it seems like the writers sort of admit that Marinette‘s crush was written like a celebrity crush, but then this doesn‘t go anywhere? It‘s basically just „it‘s the same as a celeb crush but it isn‘t actually🤪“
Like what kind of writing is this? I know I‘m again beimg nitpicky but hey I love hearing your thoughts on the show so do you have thoughgs on this?
I'm honored that you enjoy my rambled! And, yeah, I have a few thoughts on this one. To begin, here's the full quote for proper context:
Marinette: Oh, hey Kagami! How are you? Kagami: Hello, Marinette. I'm fine, thank you. Adrien: I'm sorry, Marinette, it's my fault. I just couldn't talk to my father. Marinette: No, don't apologize! It makes sense that you didn't make it work because that's you! I mean, not you, you but you, as in, not me. Your dad doesn't have a problem with you anymore, he's even become super cool, making you pancakes, giving you all the freedom you need. He's come such a long way and that's amazing. But he does have a problem with me. He feels worried and I would be too if I were him. He thinks I'm one of those fans who follows you everywhere, showers you with hand-knitted gifts and knows every single one of your middle name days. Kagami: Isn't that what you used to do, Marinette? Marinette: Yes... except no! I mean, yes, but I was doing it out of love and, besides, I've changed a lot. Kagami: You are correct. Marinette: Really? You think I've changed a lot? Kagami: No. Well, not that much. But you're right to want to talk to Adrien's father.
This is not a terrible piece of writing. There are pieces of media where this would be genuinely funny. I've previously talked about the fact that Marinette's crush on Adrien is written like a celebrity crush and not a crush on a real person or even a proper stalker obsession. In that post, I also discussed media that features a fan getting to date their celebrity idol:
Whenever stories do the thing where someone meets their celebrity crush and actually gets to know them, there's normally a noticeable shift in their behavior as the character mentally goes, "Oh shit, you're real now." They lose the freedom that came with this being a mere fantasy.
That is the type of story where this dialogue would be funny. A story where Marinette started out as a fan or former fan with an idealized view of Adrien, but ended up viewing him as a real person by the time they started dating. A story where her view of Adrien shifts, but the things she does to show affection don't because it's not exactly weird to want to know everything about your significant other or to want to shower them with gifts. The only concerning thing on the list Marinette gives is "following him everywhere", but she doesn't actually do that in the show, so we're going to ignore that one and focus on the actual problem here.
The problem is that Miraculous never gave Marinette a reality check. There is no point where dream Adrien vanishes to be replaced by real Adrien. The Adrien that she starts dating in season five appears to be everything that she's ever dreamed he would be. He is #boyfriendgoals where he only exists to make her happy. He never shows off his more annoying behavior (and let's be real, Chat Noir can be pretty annoying at times) or spouts any bad puns that make her roll her eyes in a mixture of annoyance and amusement. He is perfection and it's terrible. This is not how you write a solid romance. There's no learning about each others flaws or even meaningful personal growth for Marinette.
We spent four seasons watching her struggle to ask Adrien out only for the resolution to be that he asks her instead. She never has to overcome that personal hurdle. After that, her biggest struggle is being brave enough to tell her boyfriend that she loves him even though he has showered her with love and affection, proving that there is literally zero risk involved here. It's a deeply unbalanced relationship that feels totally unfair to Adrien.
To be fair, there are stories where the Marinette-can't-say-nice-things-to-Adrien plot point could work. However, they're stories where a lot of focus is given to Marinette's trauma and her journey to overcome it. Miraculous didn't do that. Marinette's trauma and Adrien's response to it are handled horribly by every metric because of course they are. This is a formula show that can't handle a plot like this with delicacy and grace.
There's also the issue that, for this plot to work, the romance needs to be way more balanced. We need to be shown why Marinette is an amazing partner for Adrien who just has an area where she's struggling. We need to want them to get past this trial and be together. As-is, it's impossible to support this relationship because there's no substance to it. They're barely even friends before they get together. I have no idea why I should want Adrien to struggle through helping Marinette or why I should want Marinette to work through her issues with Adrien. There are other fish in the sea! Now that the identities are out, she can go back to Luka who she had no issues with!
This all feels very badly written YA or New Adult drama and there's a reason that I don't read those! I don't enjoy wildly unhealthy couples whose main draw is their endless drama and baffling sexual tension. I want couples who I love but, at this point, I can't even summon mild enjoyment for the canon love square.
Perfection
Tumblr media
It’s been months and I still think we’re not talking enough about Cloud Kagami in Perfection. I think Cloud Kagami is one of the most haunting, most beautiful but also sad akumas in the show. Most people will probably point to Chat Blanc as the winner in that category, and fair’s fair, you can’t argue with that body count. But for me, Cloud Kagami wins because she’s less literal, more metaphorical.
Kagami is depressed and lonely in this episode. She feels isolated, like she doesn’t fit in. And so her akuma persona doesn’t do anything offensive - she just physically doesn’t fit in. Her mental image of herself is too large, too weird, but also hollow, without substance. Not even that something was stolen from her; she feels like maybe she was never real at all.
Tumblr media
The whole thing comes with a perspective shift for her. She’s too tall to see the small stuff, and she’s can’t even see the people anymore. Paris for her is just streets and buildings, a view like from a map. She is no longer able to see it as a place made up of people.
Swifties will of course recognise that this is exactly the same feeling and imagery as in the song Antihero:
Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby And I’m a monster on the hill Too big to hang out, slowly lurching toward your favorite city Pierced through the heart, but never killed
Tumblr media
And it comes to a head when Kagami says that she might just fade away, and that it would be better that way. This is the only episode where the danger is not the akuma doing something bad, but the akuma dying. That’s really harsh.
Tumblr media
On the flip side, it’s so important that Kagami doesn’t shrink down or becomes invisible. She is here, and we and the characters see and share in her pain. Our heroes know what’s going on and are worried about her. When Kagami says nobody would miss her, would notice when she’s gone, she’s categorically wrong. She is actually this huge presence, literally, in the city. She just can’t see and comprehend it, because her depression makes it impossible for her to recognise how much the people around her care.
I think this story is really harrowing, but I also love how beautifully they wrote and rendered it. This is really a stealth greatest episode of the show.
I’ve been rewatching episodes of miraculous because I finally got the family Disney Plus Password (was too lazy to ask) and I’ve been struck with thoughts.
I desperately want to rewrite the season 3 episode “Felix” because OH DEAR GOD I HATE IT. You only get the good shit when you read between the lines, what’s actually shown is ass.
So here’s my ideas for a rewrite
- Adrien definitively knows Colt Fathom was abusive, and alludes to it vaguely. He switched identities with Felix as a kid and has a good idea of what he went through at home.
- Adrien is less condescending in his taunts during the battle and shows a little more empathy towards his cousin. Less “boohoo bozo you have no friends” and more like, “dear god what happened to you bud?” Like he’s genuinely concerned over his wellbeing. Angry over what he did but genuinely concerned. Angry that his cousin never got a therapist lol.
- Marinette doesn’t try to confess her love to Adrien on the anniversary of his mother’s death because that’s literally so stupid.
- Felix is a bit more straightforward in his goals here, in that the audience is not led to believe he’s straight up evil. His behavior and general demeanor are more in-line with how he’s portrayed in season 4. He’s less obsessed with the GDV rings and more focused on outing his uncle as Hawkmoth or catching him in the act.
- He specifically chooses to mess with the videos to not only lure out Hawkmoth but because he’s extremely lonely and jealous. And that’s shown via subtle facial expressions and visual cues.
- His attempts to get Hawkmoth’s attention are more clearly shown to be an attempt to double-cross him and not just for the lols. Like, there’s certain things he does in the OG that are literally pointless, like the shit with Plagg’s cheese. Why? just, why?
- He is shown to be super competent at physical things (beating people up lol) but his social ineptitude is more clearly alluded to.
- No more SA scene I will burn that scene.
- Amelie actually gets to do stuff. She’s more straightforward about needing the GDV rings and actually makes an attempt to steal them herself. Auntie on a mission,
Canon Divergence Territory (aka rewrite)
✨MLB S3 Episode 23: Zelus✨
- If I wanted to do a bit more canon divergence, I’d shift focus from Felix being a trouble maker for the lols and instead focus on his jealousy. The feeling of being left behind by your only friend.
- His attempts to sabotage Adrien’s relationships is not to bait Hawkmoth but instead because he’s overcome with jealousy that Adrien has all these friends supporting him through his mothers passing, when Felix has never had anyone, both when his dad was dead and when he was alive. Nobody came to save him when he needed it and he’s gonna make that everybody’s problem.
- He thinks it’s unfair that Adrien seems to be so much happier than him and gets all of the things Felix wants (companionship) all the while getting to avoid the abuse he went through.
- Bro is genuinely super bitter and emotionally broken but hides it under a facade of showing no emotion at all until he snaps and gets akumatized into Zelus.
- Zelus (more commonly known as Phthonus) is the Greek personification of Jealousy.
- Maybe the ending could parallel the ending of Perfection, where other characters make an attempt to reach out and say “ur not alone <3” and while it works to defeat him, the message does NOT reach Felix and he goes home outwardly seeming better (it’s an act. One that Adrien believes) but remains just lonely.
- Like Kagami his trust issues run deep and one single episode is not gonna fix them. (They’ll heal together though, trust me!)
- His experience getting Akumatized proves to him that his uncle is Hawkmoth, he swipes the GDV ring on his way out to please his mother, and season 4 proceeds as written.
Dialogue Changes
Adrien: Listen, Plagg. Félix lost his dad not so long ago, he's probably not himself.
Plagg: I'm sorry, but there's just no excuse! You never touch my cheese, and yet, you just lost your mother not so long ago, right?
Adrien: My mom and his dad were nothing alike. It’s totally different.
