“Bradford,” Nyla whispers from the other side of the shop. “Tell me this-“
“Do I have to?” you ask.
“Yes, because I am your TO. I’m, like, a goddess in this shop. I have the power to-“
“Have me fired or make me a rookie forever,” you finish with a chuckle. “I know, ma’am.”
“Tell me this,” Nyla begins again. “Does Bradford call you boot?”
“No.”
“Never? Not even when he gets upset?”
“He hasn’t gotten super upset with me yet. Raised his voice once because I almost got hurt, but nothing serious. I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did at some point, though.”
“7-Adam-19, there’s a reported 215 and 245 at Olympic and Burnside Avenue,” control alerts.
“7-Adam-19, show us responding,” Nyla radios.
“Carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon?”
“Welcome to Los Angeles,” Nyla jokes.
As you approach the intersection, you see a man with a large automatic rifle ducking behind a car. There are civilians on the other side of the road and an injured man on the driver’s side of the car.
“Control, 7-Adam-19 requesting backup. One armed, one injured,” Nyla informs. “Block this lane.”
You pull around with your side of the shop toward the gunman. The car is facing you, so he can’t escape unless it’s on foot. Nyla opens her door and slides out before staying low to go around the back of the shop. You watch the man beside you, and when he turns quickly, you lower your window and pull your gun from your holster. He has a different weapon when he twists toward you, and when he aims it toward the back tire, you know he’s going to hurt Nyla. You don’t think before acting, not like you should, at least.
You throw the door open and begin firing as you move back toward Nyla. She yells at you to get down, but you turn toward her instead.
“Run!” you yell.
As you run behind Nyla, trying to get away from the shop, the man shoots the new weapon, and the shop explodes behind you. You fall to the asphalt, and Nyla stumbles ahead of you. Ignoring the pain in your leg, you push yourself up and rush behind a parked car. Nyla’s eyes widen when she sees you, and she pushes up to look through the windows of the car to locate the man.
“Control, this is Harper. Where’s my backup?” she yells into the radio.
“ETA two minutes,” control responds.
“What do we do?” you ask. “He’ll run.”
“You don’t do anything,” Nyla snaps. “Control, send a R/A to my location.”
“Harper, he’s moving again,” you say.
“Not your concern,” she replies.
You look toward her, and she’s looking between your leg and the car across the street. What’s left of the shop is aflame in the middle of Olympic Boulevard, blocking part of the man’s location from view. When Nyla turns toward you, you finally look at your leg. Your pants are darkened with blood, and when you bend your knee, you hiss in pain.
“Don’t move,” Nyla demands.
You don’t listen and gently push your fingers against the side of your thigh. “It’s just a bunch of glass.”
“Shrapnel in your body is not just anything!”
“Harper, we have to do something or he’s going to hurt the other people.”
Nyla exhales deeply before nodding. “Bradford is going to kill me,” she murmurs.
“He’ll come for me first,” you say with a small smile.
“Alright. You go around the shop and I’ll come up from behind. If you have a shot, take it.”
As you limp around the far side of the intersection, you raise your weapon and look for the shooter. Nyla’s gun fires before you see him, and you rush out to cover her. When the man sees you, he drops the rifle in his hands and raises them.
“Nice work,” Nyla tells you. “Now sit down and wait for your ambulance.”
On cue, the ambulance pulls up and two paramedics rush to your side.
“I’ll alert Sergeant Bradford,” someone says.
“No!” you and Harper yell together.
“This is related to his case,” the officer argues.
Wade slams the door of his car and cuts off the rest of his sentence. “I’ll fill in Bradford,” he states. “You, though,” he says to you, “have a lot more to explain.”
“You’re going to tell him?” you ask him.
“Would you rather he find out over the radio?”
You shake your head, and the paramedics move your gurney into the ambulance.
“I’ll try to calm him down, but… good luck, kid. I’ll be by in a few.”
“Thank you. You too, Harper.”
“You saved my life. Sorry I yelled at you,” she offers.
✯✯✯✯✯
You’ve just been moved to a private room after a painful hour of having shrapnel removed from your leg when Tim’s voice echoes through the hallways. He yells your name before his footsteps near your room. When he stops at the door, his chest is heaving, and his nostrils are flared.
“Are you out of your mind?” Tim demands loudly. “Harper should have you fired for that little stunt. I would! You are not here to be a hero, boot, and endangering lives – including yours – is not what being a cop is about!”
“Sergeant Bradford,” Wade says from behind Tim. “A word?”
“With me?” Tim asks. “Why don’t you remind the rookie in here about a little thing called procedure!”
“Tim,” Wade interjects. “Hallway. Now.”
Your eyes drop to your hands as they leave. Tim has never yelled at you like this before, and his insults and threats to have you fired do little to calm your nerves. Harper seemed mad when she first noticed your injury, but that was nothing compared to Tim’s reaction. You wait nervously for Tim, or at least Wade, to return from the hallway.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim begins to speak, but Wade raises a hand. He takes a deep breath to calm down before explaining everything he knows to Tim.
“I-“ Tim begins.
“No!” Wade says. “You don’t get to make an excuse about not knowing. You have known from the beginning, I told you from the beginning. When you came to me and said you were dating a rookie, I made an exception for you on one condition. I told you that if anything happened to her, it was on you. Not because you’re her superior, but because she is yours. This situation is unique, but you led me to believe you could handle it. Now, I’ll be honest, I did that hoping you’d back out and decide to wait to start a relationship, but once I saw the two of you together, my concerns became about what would happen if the two of you were separated by something or injured. That speech I just heard makes me think you’re just here as a cop. Tell me I’m wrong and I’ll listen.”
“Why us?” Tim asks angrily. “Why are we worth the special treatment and personal attention?”
Somewhere along the way, Wade became like a father figure to you. When he agreed to let Tim continue seeing you without alerting IA, he threatened to demote, fire, or kill him if he did anything to jeopardize your career, life, or relationship.
“Because I care, Bradford. Is that so hard to believe? And right now, I’m wondering if you should go back to patrol or find a new station?”
“You can’t fire me for hurting her delicate little feelings, Wade!”
“And how would your feelings be if you were going to her funeral?” Wade snaps. Tim’s face drops and Wade adds, “Harper just filed her official statement. Their backup was two minutes away, and she would have been dead if your rookie hadn’t stepped in. They would both be dead, and I don’t know about you, but I think some glass shards to the leg is a whole lot better than a funeral.”
Tim’s eyes drop as he nods. “I messed up.”
“You did. Now do something about it.”
✯✯✯✯✯
You look up immediately when the door opens. Tim walks in first, but Wade is close behind him.
“I’m sorry,” Tim begins. “I shouldn’t have yelled at you or threatened to have you fired, especially when I didn’t know as much as I thought I did. Are you okay?”
You nod, but Wade jumps in before you can say anything.
“I’m sorry, too. I went behind your back to keep Tim in line, or so I thought, from the very beginning. I should have been open with both of you, but I’ll do better now.”
“I forgive you,” you whisper, looking at Tim. You turn toward Wade to add, “And thank you for whatever it is you’ve done already.”
Wade nods and smiles before stepping back toward the door. Tim goes in the opposite direction and stops beside your bed.
“You’re really okay?” he asks as he takes your hand.
“Just sore. And I have to buy new pants.”
Tim sighs and pulls you into a hug, bending over to pull you close. You smile against him and rub his back. He’s tenser than you are, and he wasn’t even blown up.
You know that your relationship with Tim will never be easy, but it will always be worth the time and effort. Plus, your friends understand what you are going through and are there for you every step of the way.
“Visitor,” Wade alerts.
Tim steps back as Nyla walks in with a bag of your favorite snacks. Despite her original tough act, she does like you as a cop and as a friend.
“I heard someone yelled at you,” she says with a quick look toward Tim.
“He apologized. Didn’t bring me snacks though. Thank you!” you reply.
“He better keep apologizing,” Nyla adds, talking directly to Tim.
“I will,” he promises. “Glad you’re both okay.”
“Wait, does this mean I can’t help with the Metro case that I almost died for?” you interject.
“Not for a while,” Tim answers. “Gotta heal, first.”
“What was it you said? ‘Just some glass’, then walk it off,” Nyla says with a shrug.
“I wanted to ride with TO Bradford, the scariest in station history.”
You pout, and Tim shakes his head while Nyla laughs. Wade thinks about you and Tim riding together and wonders if you’d manage to get anything done.
“One cop is more than enough in my relationship,” Wade sighs. “I don’t know how you two do it.”

♕ No Matter What - Part 8 | Lena Luthor ♕
Pairing: Lena Luthor x reader
Warnings: none
Previous Part | Next Part | Masterlist ________________________________________________
For a moment there’s silence on the other end of the line. Then, Harper’s quiet voice makes me feel just the tiniest bit guilty for snapping at her.
“Y/N. . .”
I clench my jaw and squeeze my eyes shut, willing the emotions bubbling up inside of me to go away. “What?” I ask again, but this time it comes out strained.
“I—“ She sniffles. “I’m sorry, Y/N. For shutting you out. . . For letting you take the fall for Noah’s death in front of your dad.”
I gulp. I don’t know what to respond to that because a simple apology won’t change what happened. “Is that all?”
Harper breathes heavily. “N-no. I— Can I see you? I want to make things right.”
I sigh. I can’t deal with this right now. Noah’s death is already too much to deal with and then there’s the whole situation with Lena. I don’t need this right now, but deep down, the part that still cares about Harper, is grateful that she reached out. “Now is not a good time, Harper.”
“Oh, okay.” She sounds dejected and I can tell that she’s about to hang up.
“Some other time, okay?” I offer and Harper immediately agrees. “I’ll call you.”
“Alright. Bye.”
“Bye.” I hang up and slip my phone into my pocket before taking a seat back on the couch in front of Jess’s table.
“Alright, talk to me, Y/N!” Sam’s voice almost makes me drop my sandwich.
I spin around in my seat and glare at her for just barging in. “I don’t think there’s anything you don’t already know,” I deadpan, biting into the sandwich before putting it down so I can get back to typing on my computer.
Sam takes off her coat and joins me at the table, draping her jacket over one of the chairs and placing her purse on the ground.
“That’s not true,” she says softly. “Lena told me what happened, yes, but I want to know what’s going on inside that head of yours. How are you feeling? Is there anything I can do?”
My fingers freeze over the keyboard but I don’t look away from the screen. I finish chewing and swallow thickly. “I don’t know how I feel, Sammy. But I did stop by the cemetery earlier to leave some flowers at Noah’s grave.”
Sam places a hand on my forearm, making me look at her. “That’s nice. Sunflowers?”
I nod. They were his favorite. Well, at least they were the ones he didn’t explicitly say he hated. He was never one for flowers and didn’t understand the meaning behind giving them to someone, claiming it was an empty gesture at the end of the day, but he did like what Sunflowers symbolized.
Sam hums and lets her eyes wander over what I’m writing on my laptop. When she realizes what it is, her eyebrows furrow and she tugs at my arm. “What’s this? You’re not actually quitting, are you?”
It’s my letter of resignation and I’m almost done with it. Probably would be by now if Sam hadn’t barged in. “Lena doesn’t trust me, Sam, and that’s what this job is all about. So, yes, I am resigning.”
“No.” Sam shakes her head and I raise an eyebrow.
“No? What are you—“
“You can’t just quit, Y/N. Lena does trust you. She lets her guard down around you and that’s not something she does with just anyone. . .” Sam reasons and I hate to admit that she’s probably right because Lena does let her guard down around me.
Why else would she have danced with me, or fallen asleep on my chest last night?
“Maybe,” I admit. “But that doesn’t change the fact that she jumped down my throat about Noah without knowing the full story.”
Sam shuts my laptop and I barely have enough time to pull my hands away. I narrow my eyes at her, but she ignores it skillfully, knowing not to acknowledge my mini tantrums in situations like this. “I know, and there’s no excuse for that, but she isn’t perfect, Y/N. No one is and everyone makes mistakes once in a while.”
I scoff. “So, what? You expect me to just forgive her and act as though nothing happened?”
“No.” Sam sighs and pushes my laptop away to slide the plate with my sandwich on it in front of me. “I’m asking you to give her a second chance.”
“Sam—“ I start to protest but she picks up the sandwich and squishes it against my mouth and I have to take an involuntary bite in order not to choke on it.
I kick her under the table in retaliation and she kicks back just as hard, staring me down. “I’m serious. Lena is a good person and I know you like her, and she likes you too, so please, Y/N. . .” she trails off with a pleading look and I can’t help but grumble in agreement.
“Fine,” I say after swallowing.
Sam beams and steals the sandwich from me to take a bite of her own.
I roll my eyes and take a sip of water before changing the subject. “So, how’s Ruby?”
I don’t want to think about Noah, or Lena, or Harper anymore which Sam seems to notice because she leans back in her chair and starts telling me about Ruby’s upcoming recital.
Today is awful. I dragged myself out of bed this morning way before my alarm went off after not getting a wink of sleep. The memory of Noah, bleeding out against the truck while Harper and I were pinned down by the rebels’ gunfire kept flashing through my mind.
I went for a run, showered and ate breakfast at the kitchen island, staring at the countertop with blank eyes. I haven’t cried yet. It seems like my body won’t let me. All I feel is empty.
I dragged myself downstairs after eating and made my way to Lena’s apartment building, almost getting hit by a car twice because I wasn’t paying attention.
When Lena saw me she smiled tentatively and remembering Sam’s words, I forced myself to return it.
It must have been more like a grimace rather than an actual smile, but it was enough for Lena’s face to soften. We didn’t speak all the way to the office, but this time the silence wasn’t an uncomfortable one.
Now, returning from the bathroom, I’m surprised to find a Pain au chocolat sitting on a napkin on the coffee table in front of the couch I sit on outside Lena’s office.
I clear my throat to get Jess’s attention. “What’s this?”
Jess looks up, confused for a second before her eyes land on the pastry. “Oh, that. Ms. Luthor had some breakfast delivered and found an extra Pain au chocolat at the bottom of the bag. She didn’t want it to go to waste and because I don’t like chocolate she thought you might want it.”
My eyebrows shoot up in surprise and I can’t help the blush creeping up the side of my neck. “Oh, uh— That’s very nice of her.”
Jess just hums in agreement and turns back to her computer to resume working, obviously not noticing the effect the gesture has on me.
I take a seat and look around as if someone is watching me (which obviously no one is) and pick up the pastry. It smells delicious and when I take a bite, I find that it tastes even better than anticipated.
A tiny smile tugs at the corner of my lips and I take another huge bite right after swallowing the first.
Today might be a shit day, but it’s just been made a little bit better.
For lunch Lena met with Kara at Noonan’s and I, of course, went with her, eating at a separate table to give them some privacy but close enough to step in if something were to happen.
Nothing did happen in the end, thank God, but while we were there I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched.
Like I said, nothing happened though and for the rest of the day Lena was at L-Corp, working in her lab. I sat close by and watched, every now and then meeting Lena’s eyes when she looked up.
She would immediately look away when it happened, but not before grimacing nervously.
That was when I remembered I never thanked her for the pastry, so I cleared my throat and mumbled, “Thanks for the Pain au chocolat by the way.”
Her head shot up at that and a light dusting of pink made its way to her cheeks. “I— You’re welcome.”
I smiled softly, the first genuine smile since our little dispute, and then that was that.
I sigh and sink onto the couch, pulling a blanket over my legs as the beginning of Noah’s favorite movie starts playing on my TV.
My mom tried reaching me several times over the course of the day, but just like last time, I ignored her. I don’t want to speak go her or dad.
I just want to be alone and even when Sam and Ruby offered to join me after I got off work, I declined. They understood, of course, but told me to call if I changed my mind.
I promised I would, but for now I’m set on being alone.
I lean back further into the cushions and focus on the movie. It’s Cheaper by the Dozen and I’ve seen it so many times, I can quote all the lines.
When one particularly funny scene comes on I laugh. It’s not a normal laugh though because it quickly turns hysterical and in a matter of seconds I’m not laughing at all anymore. I’m bawling and for the first time today I feel something.
I sob until my throat is dry and my eyes burn, and I close my eyes, the movie long forgotten as I feel myself falling asleep.

outtakes: mad about dodo/simply lilac (set after this lol)
DODO: (likely woken from the nicest most pleasant dream not involving those piles of laundry the Watcher is using to try and get him to switch to the NEAT trait)
DODO: Wha’?
ARAMINTA: ‘This is about you, not me’. Oh, really now. The self-awareness is astounding. And how dare she? I’m glad however that she has one friend - she certainly made so many on the show…
DODO: Minta.
ARAMINTA: And to imply that I would ever treat someone unfairly simply because they were friends with a person I didn’t take to? She’s certainly colouring me with her own view of the world. Perhaps if she’s so concerned, she should gatecrash and interrupt me at my job and take up my time - and everyone else’s - with her astoundingly well-timed bursts of paranoia-
DODO: Minta, you’re adorable. But the island was the first time you lived away from home and you’ve never played a team sport before. Or had a job with colleagues who you had to cooperate with, whether you got along with them or not. And right now, I can totally tell?
ARAMINTA: (pauses) How so?
DODO: You don’t know how to reconcile it when you don’t like a sim who doesn’t have the ‘EVIL’ or ‘MEAN’ trait. Sometimes two sims just don’t like each other, and it doesn’t mean that one of them is ‘good’ or the other is ‘bad.’ Shay’s not ‘bad’. She’s just, to you it seems anyway, annoying.
ARAMINTA: (dry chuckle) You could say that.
DODO: Also you can go out, do your horsey thing, and leave it all in the stadium. Not everyone can separate things that easily. There’s a leftback on Britechester who, like, hardly anyone who knows him away from football has a bad word to say about him. And rationally I know that he’s a decent guy. But as an opponent he’s really uncompromising, he deliberately gets beneath your skin, messes with your head - and he pushes the rules to their limit. To me he’s just a fucking dick.
ARAMINTA: You mean J. Huntington Jr? But he’s always so polite.
DODO: And I’m sure he is. To people who aren’t Foxbury players and who don’t play on opposition teams. But you see what I mean? Maybe Shay can’t be someone’s friend and compete against them at the same time. Maybe she didn’t want to make any other attachments because she didn’t want to hurt a friend.
ARAMINTA: That makes sense. I just wish things were different.
DODO: It doesn’t mean you’ve failed if you don’t like everyone you meet. Or if not everyone likes you. You know that you haven’t forgotten about me and it’s not like you’re going around hitting on all the contestants, so what does it matter what anyone else thinks?
ARAMINTA: I think - sometimes I worry that I’m nice to people not just for the sake of being nice, but because I want them to like me. I mean, it’s important to me to treat others well in and of itself. So why isn’t it enough?
DODO: Welcome to the world of being a pixel person with complexities, Minta. Being liked is just a natural thing to want. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Anyway, I think that someone needs a hug.
ARAMINTA: (straightens expectantly)
DODO: Yeah, the butler was looking kind of down earlier?
ARAMINTA: You’re a scamp.
DODO: You like it, c’mon. Also, that’s kind of why I’ve been leaving the toilet seat up all the time. Just so you won’t forget about me and flirt with all the contestants.
ARAMINTA: Sure, Dodo. Sure…
dodo harper by @akitasimblr. also shay i love you, promise - ginger solidarity (shay by @changingplumbob)

How they are as exs! ~ Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Roy Harper, Kate Kane.
Warnings: Mature! Mentions of stalking- no smut but still 18+ as always! Infidelity? No gender is mentioned for reader, but it may be insinuated reader is afab. Reader is insinuated to be oblivious to the crime fighting career. Bad grammar bc I suck
Dick Grayson is the type of ex to plan things out. He wants to get back with you, he really does. He’s changed, he promises! To show you how much he changed he convinced Wally to invite you to the annual cookout and Barry’s. Bruce didn’t attend, but he sent Dick in his place, and it was the ideal excuse to get his arm around you again. You’d get there and huff, seeing the raven-haired man throwing his arm around your mutual red-haired best friend. You’d only say hi to Wally, even using his full name to indicate you were upset. Soon Barry would come to ease the tension, the man could read a room! After a few beers you’d be open enough to talk to Dick, and his honey-sweet words and charming gestures would overtake you. By the end of the night you were in his lap around the campfire, and he was casually kissing your lips.
Jason Todd will text you, every so often. You swore his number was blocked, you swore the last five numbers he used were blocked, but he’s simply smarter than that. Using texting apps to message you, keeping his messages to you hidden from the world. His text come at the worst time. You’re at work, focusing hard on your task. Then it pops up, on the phone next to you that is supposed to be in your personal bag. You just needed a calculator, and now your heart is racing with both anxiety and excitement! You couldn’t lie, you missed him. Your current boyfriend couldn’t touch you the same, whisper those sweet nothings that made you feel like a goddess before her lost loyal disciple. You responded with great enthusiasm, and he replied with the same energy. Slowly, though, guilt and memories of the past seep in. His immaturity, his mommy issues, his abandonment problems. How clingy, manipulative, and mean he could be- the illusion all comes crumpling down, and soon you find your fingers reaching for the block button. Don’t worry, in a few months you’ll get another message. It’s been two years since the breakup—
Roy Harper is more toxic than the other two. He uses dumb excuses to run into you, going to the same bank, grocery store, gas station. He knows your area, he knows your car and your friends homes. He stalks you, a little bit, but will never be caught. He’s too smart. He’ll tug on your heart strings, messaging you on social media to send you pictures of his cat. (I believe Roy is a cat man.) he’ll say something dumb like ‘we miss you, baby.’ Just reading those messages makes you putty. You’ll persist, and he likes that about you. He’ll send you a gift on your birthday or any holiday you celebrate. He’ll ask you to not block in in a card attached, and soon he’ll be able to see your status again.
Kate Kane and you met at a friend’s party. Having been circling the same group of friends, running into the red haired woman was rather common. Bonding over childhood trauma and her father’s crazy wife. It was fun to meet someone who understood the struggles you went through. When Kate cheated on you, and it was plastered in the front page of all the queer gossips magazines and other social medias. You learned from one of your mutual friends, but the evidence still hurt. You blocked her, and washed your hands clean. Months later she is at your apartment door, stumbling over her words. Her makeup is smeared from crying, and the urge to shut the door in her face is overwhelming. She sobs about how she loved you, and it was a publicity stunt to cover up her father’s own cheating scandal. It’s hard to believe, but when she reaches to kiss you, you don’t stop her.

- to his luck Constantine had survived, and begged him to put a spell on him that made him unable to speak the word shazam so he could never turn back on accident.
-John allowed Billy to come back with him to the house of mystery, after all, Billy was technically a magic user
- the world of magic technically had nothing to do with earth and the snap so Billy came in handy when it came to Constantine’s deals and quarrels with demons.
- Constantine saw the snap as natural selection and was okay with it.
- until he found that zatanna had been on earth and did not survive the snap.
- he drank a lot after that.
- five years later Billy got the spell removed and was able to BE Billy again
- Billy was over joyed at seeing everyone again.
-Constantine was… well ..Constantine.
STATIC SHOCK
-Virgil Hawkins DID SURVIVE the thanos snap!
- Virgil was lucky asf in this case bc the power/electricity was def not 100% working
-Virgil was going around using his energy to provide light to homes, power to hospitals ect,
-believe it or not he chose to stay on his own during the blip.
- he figured it would be better not to get attached when the chabce of survival was now somewhat lower
-didn’t even try to contact anyone
-(boy didn’t wanna face the facts on who he would never see again)
-at year four he kinda gave up and ended up somewhere in bloodhaven.
- a part of him was praying that Barry Allen was alive and would (selfishly) turn back time
- when everyone came back? He was kinda angry?
-he lowk was mad that everyone had to suffer through those 5 years and the blipped ones didn’t.
- he found nightwing (he was blipped aka DID NOT survive the snap) and tried to pick a fight with him for being so joyful during all this (granted he didn’t know-).
- he understood it wasn’t the worlds fault tho and just tired to do his best with helping explain to everyone what had happened.
- (at the end of the day he’s just a teenager )
- he took some time to re adjust to everyone being back. But eventually found peace
SELINA AND DUKE
-selina Kyle and duke thomas DID both survive the thanos snap!!
-they were with eachother on a bat fam mission when all of a sudden *POOF* they were all gone except for duke, Selina, Kate and Damian
-Kate and Damian almost immediately went their separate ways without notice
- Selina didn’t panic, in fact she was pretty calm with all of this
-Thomas on the other hand.. HE WAS A MESS
- full panic mode on his part
- after a little calming down they went to Wayne manor to find nobody they’re either.
- they stuck together travelling to metropolis to once again find nobody except for Lois lane who did survive.
- they all co existed together (lot easier to live there than gotham without the bat so)
- when they came back DUKE WAS SO HAPPY he cried .
-Selina was calm as always as they made their way back to gotham where ALL HELL WAS BREAKING LOOSE ON THE STREETS
- people were so confused
- everyone went back to Wayne manor (dick, Tim, Steph, babs and the rest of the blipped batfam) to find Cissie , Jason, and Roy living there and those three were SHOCKED.
- “awh man now we gotta move out!!”
- big family reunion for the batfam 💗

Happy Wednesday my lovely readers :) Ahhh already 4 eps into this season. Almost half way there. Doesn’t take long when we only got 10. Ha Still grateful for what little we got was better than nothing tbh. Also reached the limit on my master post for links. Apparently there is a limit. Boo. Gotta add a link to a new posts in there for rest of the reviews. Was kinda shocked at the lower amount of gifs for this ones. So a lot are the made ones from me. Anyways this is really really good one. Let us begin.
6x04 Training Day
We start out with Lucy being a lying liar who lies. Not even well.... Tim not believing her even a little bit that she’s "fine." One of Lucy’s tells is her fidgeting. Whether it’s her hands, her sleeves, and the ever infamous tattoo touch she does. All indicators she is anything but fine. Tim is well versed in all of these things. Because he has the book of Lucy memorized. Her telling him it’s ’Not a big deal.’ Is a big ol red flag for him.
Tim voicing as such to her. Letting her know anytime he’s heard that from a woman in his life they were anything but that. Lucy keeps pretending she’s made peace with it. That’s she’s a professional. She will keep on keeping on. But as we know with this episode that is a load of absolute BS. It's one thing after another for her in this one only adding to very 'not fine' she is. Poor girl.
They do turn a cute corner with her asking if he wants her to be upset? Tim replying of course he doesn't. But the man is worried. Rightfully so. The smile on her face when she asks this is adorable though. They have a nice little moment of reprieve till numbskull Nolan appears. Bringing up the very thing that is eating at her. Her short ‘I’m fine.' Before taking off. Ugh. Undoing any progress Tim made. Thanks John forever the worst with that stuff. Smh. The way Tim’s eyes follow her after that. *sigh*
So begins the hell episode for Lucy. She shows up to the scene asking about their killer. Then asks Harper/Angela if they want her to start canvassing? They tell her yeah the northwest corner. Lucy making a crack no one has covered it yet because it’s by the ‘Hell dumpsters’. Their sassy looks say everything. Lucy spitting back a company line about being a patrol officer. Oh my girl. It’s hitting her so hard she’s still a patrol officer. Feeling like at this point in her career her talents are being wasted. I mean they are…That much is clear in this moment.
Her expression at the end of the scene says everything tbh. About all that frustration and feeling like a failure. This is the starting point of Lucy isolating herself. I know everyone thought she had zero support. To me and I know others said it during the season too. That she isolated herself. Because just like Tim when she is going through something she does it alone. She is internalizing EVERYTHING right now. I have been known to do this as well. The need to shutdown and do it alone. I can relate to her.
She has a solid support system but that doesn’t mean she’s taking advantage of said system. I can relate to that very well too. It took awhile but I now have a solid system. I don’t always rely on them in times of emotional distress. It’s a learned skill. One I'm still learning to use. We talk about Tim and his need for therapy. Lucy needs it too. They’re scarily alike in their unhealthy coping mechanisms. It’s frightening really. Also the song running through this is so good (Dandelion-ill peach)
This next portion is the beginning of her spiral as well. It’s wrapped inside her isolation. It’s a recipe for disaster as we see later on... The isolation continues while she is guarding the dumpsters solo. If there was ever a time Lucy didn’t need to be alone with her thoughts it would be today. She spots some puke and thinks it might be from the killer. Calls Harper and tells her as such.
Harper tells her it’s unlikely to be related but they’ll need to process it anyways. Unfortunately it is only going to extend her time in hell. Nyla telling her could take a couple hours. 4 tops…Ugh. Not exactly what her day needs. Doesn’t help Harper cuts her off on the phone before she can finish her sentence. *sigh* Now Lucy is left to sit in her thoughts and stew in her emotions. I believe this episode was setup to reflect how Lucy is feeling.
Which honestly is like shit. How she feels alone (self inflicted or not), how she’s falling behind and feelings of failure. It’s reflected in all her scenes in this one. It’s a tough one to watch for her. She’s feeling very segregated and this dumpster canvass isn’t helping. As we know our girl isn’t very good at spotting when she’s being emotionally blind to her own feelings. Nor realizing when she’s not reaching out for the help she needs. The thing about support systems is they can’t be mind readers. You gotta relay when you need that support.
Lucy watching that press conference is killing me softly. You can see so much emotion written all over her face. The jealously and the annoyance of not being the one up there. Because well she almost was. It was just dumb luck (title of Nolan’s career) that they got that call and she didn’t. Ain't nothing going our girl's way today and it shows. She is a seething cauldron of emotions that she is tamping down under the guise of being ‘fine’
I do LOVE her waiting on Tim so they can go home together. (Also the hands in his jeans, the shirt, the jacket. Mmm gimme) It’s the little married things that get me all amped up. Waiting on her man to go home. It makes me so happy and squee. She needs it more than ever too. I swear at this moment in time the only keeping her sanity intact is that man.
He reads her like a book from moment he sees her though. Knows what her sour mood is all about. That if only Primm had seen her linked to this case. Seen this press conference it would’ve proved him wrong about her. Made him regret tanking her exam. Damn he knows his girl. Because that's exactly what her face is conveying in the very beginning of this scene.
Lucy notes instead of that she was stuck in dumpster hell. Not only that but she guarded puke for 3 hours. Based on the off chance it belonged to the killer. Tim asking if it did? Hoping to God it did LOL It’s the way Melissa delivers the sick dog line that cracks me up. How she could easily lose her shit right now. Like that was the straw that broke the camel's back for her today.
Ugh I hate it so much for her. She was already all up in her thoughts and failures. Probably thinking why her? What can’t she have even the simplest win? That she’s been resigned to guarding puke and it not even being helpful. That it should be her up there not Nolan. I mean I agree it should be. This is all just percolating toward the rash decision she makes later.
So damn desperate to prove she’s worth her salt. That this is the career for her. She’s meant to do so much more than patrol, canvassing, and general grunt work. Our girl is in dire straits and Tim can see it clear as day. Which is what makes this next portion so sweet and important tbh. Also doesn’t hurt there are more married vibes attached to it.
I love the gentle advice given here from Tim. She’s had a really bad day and he’s being sensitive to it. Doling out solid guidance but being soft about it. Applying logic with empathy so she gets his point but also doesn’t get more upset. Tim can see how this rough shift has rocked her. Especially when she is already on shaky ground. This man like I’ve been saying has been 10/10 for her. Idk what she would’ve done without him eps 1-4 I really don’t.
The beauty of this scene is him empathizing and building her back her up in the process. Reassuring her in the kindest way. That yeah you had a bad day, you’ll have 'em again, but tomorrow could be a whole new ball game for her. That being on patrol is an 'anything can happen game.' Knowing she is down about patrol right now. The man knows. Then is positive about it. Saying today wasn’t her day but tomorrow could be. I love this man so very much. As does Lucy.
I just love the ‘share our day’ marriage vibes this scene holds. Tim sees she had the tougher day and is there for her. Lucy getting lighter as they continue to talk. Something Tim is very good at. The best part of this scene is he gets her to laugh.
After he’s said his piece and comforted her he takes it a step further. Makes his lady laugh and we’re all here for it. Telling her not to be so greedy LOL It’s the way Lucy is looking at him that gets me in the first one. Her Tim smile in full force. Then their precious combined smiles in the second one. God damnit they’re so cute you guys.
I’m dying. They make each other so happy I wanna cry. The lack of space and how they bump arms as they laugh. Just being in love with all to see I cannot. Lucy being grateful for this goof of a man making her smile. For relieving her even if it's just for a short while of that weight on her soul. Letting him carry it with her for a bit. *heart clutch* I love them sfm.
First off before we delve into this part, I wanna say Lucy is an absolute BAMF is in the moments leading up to Harper/Angela arriving. How calm and collected she is. Making sure to cover Bailey as she gets her downed partner. If she could see herself in this moment she wouldn’t have so many doubts. But sadly that is not how crippling self esteem/confidence issues work. I just love watching her in the field and how well she handles herself.
Second my heart was racing from moment that man is shot in the chest. The entire moment is one giant adrenaline rush. Holy hell. Lucy covers for the duo until they reach her cover. Their airship is three minutes out and Lucy doesn’t think they can afford to wait. Wants to run down the alleyway solo. Cut him off so he doesn’t get away. That desperate need to prove herself rearing it’s ugly head.
Not only that but it is running the show for her right now. Harper immediately says no. That’s it's a 40 yard run in an open field. Lucy isn’t listening to her advice though. Level headed Lucy would've heeded her warning. Once again this season she is not with us in this moment. Saying to blow his head off if he pops up. That she’ll be alright. Angela doesn’t look pleased with this idea either. I mean look at her above. Concern written all over her. Her gut feeling screaming this isn't a good idea....But Lucy is hell bent on it.
This run had me holding my friggin breath. Tim would’ve lost his damn mind had he seen this. Not only that he would’ve ripped them a new one to letting her attempt it. When she got hit first time watched it I screamed. Held my breath until she got back up. Angela and Harper’s horrified faces mirrored my own. Couldn’t breathe till she popped back up. It was the most reckless risk she could've taken.
She is very very lucky her radio took the hit. It saved her damn life after that crazy run of hers. Lucy taking Tim's suggestion of being a big hero a little too literally. Honestly would’ve loved to have seen Tim tear them up for letting her do this... Reckless doesn’t seem strong enough of a word with this action. This decision of hers is a culmination of an episode long isolation. Of letting her emotions run the show and she took a risk that could've killed her. All to proof she could do it.
She had definitely given into those voices in her head telling her she’s not enough. Telling her she needs to prove herself or no one will ever think she’s worthy of moving up. To show she doesn't belong on patrol anymore. If she had just told her support system and really Tim how she was feeling. She wouldn’t have been this damn hasty. Lucy wasn’t thinking about what would happen if her radio didn’t catch that bullet. How utterly wrecked Tim would be if she had been hurt or even worse killed.
The problem being she kept all these emotions and struggles to herself. Which clouded her judgement. Her brain wasn't thinking in this capacity. This moment showing the continued communication problems in their relationship. How her decision could've really affected Tim. She wasn't thinking that in the moment though. Their communication issues go both ways with them. When they’re feeling emotionally distraught or vulnerable they isolate and take their problem on themselves.
Which results in foolish and hasty decisions. I.e. this moment above. And in next 2 eps with Tim...Something they gotta work on either before they’re back together or in the early repairing of their relationship. We get to see her KIA radio once she is clear. It very much saved her life and is now useless to her. I do love how she communicates with them before she pursues Jeff. Harper commending her on being smart in this moment. I mean they're in it now. So every move she makes from here on out has to be smart.
Lucy catches Jeff in the alleyway just like she wanted. Unfortunately he doesn’t look like he is interested in surrendering. Melissa crushes this scene oh my lord. The shaky way her voice breaks when she tells him to stop. To put his weapon down. Trying so hard to prevent a deadly outcome. I’m getting 5x19 flashbacks for her in this moment. Lucy dealing with the same issue Tim had. A person willing to die instead of give up. Despite them wanting to concede.
Lucy is basically pleading with this man to give up. She doesn’t want to shoot him. Doesn’t want it to end this way. Lucy is an empath as we all know. So her shooting him right or not she is going to carry it on her soul regardless. It’ll be a stain on it because she would’ve done anything to avoid this.
Lucy is on the verge of tears when she calls out Code 4. That the shooter is down. Ugh my heart. Adrenaline from end to end with this moment. Having it finish with a bang made my stomach sink for her. We watch how it affected Harper in 6x01 and she’s seasoned. How it affected Tim in 5x19. It’s never anything I wanna see our characters go through. Felt like I couldn’t catch my breath even after he was done. Such a good scene though.
Then comes the best part of the episode. Tim storming in like the worried husband he is. He has her work bag and I wanna cry. He has a death grip on it as he searches for the desk. I just love that he made sure to grab her bag before rushing off to the hospital. Man is on a mission to find her. Nothing matters to him but her in this moment. It’s the way he goes to the desk and they direct him to her immediately. He thanks the nurse with his tap to the counter.
I can’t imagine how he was when he first got the news. The look of sheer worry painted across his face when he steps foot into that hospital. Worried Tim is everything and Eric conveyed so much in these first two gifs. The first one is all concern and anxiety. He can’t breathe until he has laid eyes on his girl. The second one is relief in finding her. Tim completely by passes the gaggle of people outside of her room.
Doesn’t check in with them or see what happened at the scene. All that matters to him is getting to her. It’s the way he stops before he enters in. Taking a beat for the first time since he arrived. Then steeling some resolve knowing he needs it be her rock in this moment. Once he does this he steps into her room. Checking in and asking her if she’s hurt? He’s so gentle and soft like we all expect at this point with him. Doesn't take his eyes off her for one second as he sets her bag down.
Per usual the music department be killing it out here with the song selection. The soothing guitar and the singers soft voice are the perfect backdrop to this scene. His voice is as tender and comforting as Tim's tone through out the scene. Once again Melissa and Eric are the epitome of chemistry. Their amazing acting chops shining through in this moment. Melissa got me crying and all in my feels. Once Tim knows she’s physically ok it’s time to take care of her emotionally. The hand to her hair has me reeling. The way he strokes her head it’s so intimate and gentle.
Telling her she didn’t have to take his suggestion so literally. My heart. It’s all ‘hands hands hands’ from here on out. Like I said in 6x02 their physical chemistry forever floors me. It’s also just so damn sweet. Like he has to be touching her in order to know she’s ok. To reassure himself that she’s actually sitting in front of him right now. Saw a great tag said whenever we get hands like this makes them feral. How I felt about this entire scene.
So many wonderful facets to fangirl about and be feral over tbh. The man can’t stop touching her and I’m here for it. From the moment he was allowed to he was off to the races. Makes my heart so happy. He’s so tactile with her. It makes me wanna scream into a pillow. Touch is one of his languages with her but also their love language as well. It shows constantly. Honestly getting this soft scene after that adrenaline fest was much needed. That whole shooting scene had my blood pressure up.
I’m just bawling for Lucy after this. We get to see all she's been holding in. How incredibly upset she is about this whole situation. It's here with Tim comforting her she finally lets her walls down. Because her protector is there. He is there to pick up her broken pieces and put her back together. I know that feeling. Where you've been keeping it together. Then your person comes and asks if you're ok? And you realize how much you're not and the floodgates open.
That's Lucy in this scene. With tears in her eyes she tells him she doesn’t feel like a hero. Tim’s hand hasn’t left her at all btw. They both need this touch to ground them right now. I love how he rubs his thumb up and down her shoulder. Comforting her while she tells him her worst fear. The one thing that's been weighing on her soul since she released that shot in the alley. That she killed Jeff Budney. Asking Tim what if she killed him?
Tim crushing it with the comforting and being calm in his reply. So certain that no matter the outcome it’ll be ok. Why you ask? Because they’re going to deal with it together. The ‘Then we’ll deal with it.’ is EVERYTHING she needs to hear right now. Because yeah it’s bleak right now. But Tim wants to make sure she knows she isn’t alone. That he is there and no matter if he makes it or not he’s by her side. These are the exact reassurances she needs in this moment.
Lucy’s reaction has me crying some more. It’s the stifled cry when he tells her this. The sad shake of her head. Killing me softly. She couldn’t face the possibility of Budney dying. Not until her person showed up. Her fierce protector and love of her life standing by her side. Letting her know it’s ok. Even if it’s not it will be because they’ll face it together. Gah getting emotionally writing this up. This scene was primo on so many levels. *chef kiss.*
It’s here Grey and Wes enter the room. They let our lovely couple know he made it through surgery. Thank you Lord. The relief that floods Lucy is immense. I love how she looks at Tim and shakes her head. Needing his grounding stare as she takes in this news. Making sure it's real. Wes is quite the downer when he tells her for now. That if he dies later the investigation has to resume. The look on Grey’s face like WTF man…Let her have the win.
We see protective Tim step in after this. Asking if she can do her statement tomorrow? All he wants to do at this point is get her away from this hospital. From Jeff Budney and prying eyes. Wade is super sweet and turns on his dad mode and says that’s fine. Tries to get her to look and meet his fatherly gaze. She is too out of it to notice his kind look. All the more reason Tim needs to get her the hell out of this place.
Tim breaks her out of her revere with his touch as she watches them depart. I’m squeeing at the way he squeezes her collarbone, then soothes it with his thumb, before he moves his hand to the back of her neck. All the affectionate touches and very tender comforting has me ship drunk. His hand didn’t leave her for ninety percent of this scene. *happy sigh* He’s trying so hard to keep her there with him. To let her know he’s there and hasn’t left.
It’s the soft way he tells her ‘Let’s go home.’ also has me squeeing. Her home is now his home and I’m bawling. Like I said earlier all he wants to do is take her home and continue the comfort. Knowing the last place she needs to be is here. It’s the sweet smile on his face as he beckons her off the bed. Gah what a good man. Took care of her heart and soul in this moment.
Lucy doesn’t make it far before she is collapsing into his arms. Truly letting her walls down in full. Relaxing for the first time and melting completely against him. It’s the way she folds into his arms so easily. How he has her wrapped up in them immediately. Shielding her from the rest of the hospital. From this situation. One hand in her hair cradling her gently to his chest. How he is softly cupping the back of her head. The other wrapped around her nice and tight. Cocooning her in his embrace. His eyes shutting the minute he can feel her safely in his arms.
Tim breathing for the first time since he entered this room. All the while giving her the comfort zone of being in his arms. Gah it’s the slight sway that goes along with it that has me swooning. Rocking her in his arms sweetly. Trying to give her the solace she had been craving since that alleyway. Lucy hiding her face happily in his chest as he does this. Her hand placed on his chest as well has me happily sighing. No one does hugs quite like our couple does. The emotions they evoke out of me is unreal. They are top tier goodness.
To make the hug even sweeter we get a kiss to the head. The way Lucy wraps her arms around his back fully as he does this. Grounding her further as he takes care of her. They continue their lovely swaying as Tim places his cheek on her head. Resting it there lovingly. There’s a reason I kept this hug as my banner. Not that I don’t love the elevator hug in 6x09. I love it so much and will gush when we get there. But this hug ranks up there as top ones for me. Why you ask?
This hug just exemplifies how they provide comfort for each other. How physical touch is one of their primary love languages. They are each other's sanctuary. A happy and safe place amid the darkness their job brings. Coupled with the song playing in the background, the moment becomes even more glorious. It’s a beautiful scene made even more poignant by the this loving embrace.
I'm still not over how beautiful this scene is. You can see the stress and anxiety just drain out of Lucy. From the moment she is in his arms she is at peace. The same for Tim with pulling her into his arms. They both needed this hug so much. The continuity of the head kisses I’m here for as well. Gimme that all day long. In every future hug. I remember thinking as the shot panned out what would she have done without Tim in this moment? Without his wonderfully soothing comfort? Ugh what makes the next set of episode a gut punch that I still haven’t recovered from…
Thanks as always to my amazing readers who like, comment or reblog these reviews. Means the world to me. I shall see you all in 6x05 :)

Side notes-Non Chenford
I love Aaron going out with Tim for his first day. Going over the T.RA.I.N yummy T.O Tim in a Metro outfit. I will take that at every chance I can get it. If I had only know this was my last ep with him in that outfit would've appreciated it more 😭 Also this gif was for eye candy. Nothing more nothing less. How I wish to be the chair for which he leans upon in this scene. Metro outfit, badge showing, the way he is deliciously leaning against that chair. *fans self* Doesn't hurt Aaron is hilarious in his quest to please Tim LOL
We watch Nolan continue to be a terrible T.O. He lets Celina say a huge no no over the radio smh
Something else wanted to touch on for the Lucy having no support system. What happened with Jeff Budney is the direct result of not relying on said support system. I'm not blaming her. I have been her. Just want to make that very clear. But the gaggle of people outside her room worried about her is that system. Waiting to see what happens to her etc Everyone was worried about her and for her.
Other than Tim she does have it but as we know this season is super rough on her. So that is hard to see. Especially with losing her main pillar of that system in Tim. Which causes her to retreat even farther inside, but that’s for future eps to delve into. I remember D had this great post about how Lucy has been isolating for years. We were just finally seeing the result of that. Very true.
I mean only person she's really let in other than Jackson is Tim. That's it folks. Because she too has walls. She has Tamara but it's not the same as what she has with Tim. Once again hoping s7 resolves this isolation and her career path in the process. I'll be ok with her being put through it if we can have a good conclusion to go along with it.
Lastly the song running through the final scene is ‘Let it all go’ the lighthouse and the whaler. Such a good song.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #6 (2011)
Hey, remember when I was recapping this series? Well, unfortunately for all of us, I'm gonna do it some more.
I will admit this is a pretty good cover.
This shit, however, makes me so mad. What an absolutely lazy waste of space. This comic is 20 pages long, not including the cover. That means that this two page spread is literally an entire tenth of the story, and it's used to convey...what? That Jason just fought some guys who were trying to smuggle nukes into Miami.
A two-page spread is meant to deliver impact: a crucial moment in the story, a stunning piece of art, an impressive sense of scale (Galactus looming over the Earth, whatever). This does none of that. Most of the page is just a teal gradient; Rocafort didn't even bother to draw an impressive underwater scene. (I kind of don't blame him, because it would have been a waste of his time, since this scene is NOT NARRATIVELY IMPORTANT.)
Also, the page before this is also a splash, and the one after is three panels depicting Jason caught in an explosion, and that's a generous description considering that one of the panels has nothing in it but bubbles. So now we're up to TWENTY percent of the comic, a full FIFTH of the story, and we have conveyed LITERALLY NOTHING except "Jason got caught up in an underwater explosion."
This is lazy writing and lazy art. This is charging the reader for 20 pages of story and delivering maybe seven, content-wise. It's shamelessly ripping off the audience, and they aren't even trying to pretend they aren't doing it. I don't know if Lobdell didn't have enough story in him or if he was trying to give Rocafort more time to drawn stupid little lines all over everything, New 52-style, but it pisses me off.
Anyway, Jason wakes up on an island a few days later (and a narration box on the first page established that this takes place before RHATO #1):
This page has six panels which is a very respectable amount, although I still don't think it's a great use of space. But I guess Rocafort was really busy adding wood texture to all the panel borders for no reason. Anyway the little pile of leaves Kori has graciously dropped over Jason's dick is very funny.
Jason wakes up, tries to demand his pants from Kori at gunpoint, and passes out again. He has a flashback to the world's most hideous Nightwing costume:
Awful. Also, Jason flounces off in a bratty little fit in the next couple panels, but I support him, because if you actually read what Dick's saying, it's meaningless filler.
See, now this is an appropriate use of a two-page spread for impact and scale. Much more effective. Imagine how effective it would have been if every other spread for five issues hadn't tried and failed at this!
Kori offers Jason some clothing, which turns out to be the hideous Nightwing suit, and Jason flashes back to Under the Red Hood: Shitty Version:
Who needs "Because he took me away from you" when we have whatever the fuck this is?
Jason gets all upset. Kori sniffs Dick's costume and says she can't remember his name, but she has fond memories of the guy who used to wear it. There's a flashback of her and Dick and Roy in action together. Okay, so she clearly remembers Dick and Roy at least somewhat, which is probably Lobdell starting to walk back the controversial amnesia bullshit in the first issue.
Jason tells Kori his connection to Dick and asks if she's mad, which...even setting aside Kori's memory issues and general lack of grudge holding in any continuity, why would she be mad that Jason has the same mentor as a guy she remembers fondly? Anyway, she is indeed not mad and they hug it out. If this is supposed to be depicting Jason's smug "I've been with her" in the first issue, it...really doesn't read like they boned.
Jason's narration on the last page further obscures things:
"Friendship and romance are really the same thing. Anyway LET'S TALK ABOUT ROY HARPER." Okay I know that's me reading with ship goggles but it truly is a very funny transition.
So that's how Jason met Kori! She...pulled him out of the water, and they discussed how they both knew Dick. Definitely worth spending a whole issue on that very interesting story!

i need more tommy x red content, i feel like all of their interactions would be so unintentionally funny, like red is trying her hardest to be nice and tommy is just so scared of her. however i can actually see tommy being one of the first people outside of the ellie and joel that red warms up to. but whenever joel and tommy gets into a little brotherly spat she can get a little mean with him.
😂 I'm doing this headcanon style just because I feel this would have to encompass a lot of different moments lol
Tommy doesn't realize what Joel means by Red being a little wild until a week into their settling down in Jackson because he makes the mistake of grabbing her backpack (mind you, he was just going to hand it to her, but he didn't know how she would react)
Instantly, she's stepping towards him and rationality is gone from her eyes making him drop the bag immediately as Joel steps between them with hands raised. His eyebrows are in his hairline as he watches his older brother try to placate her. He damn near feels like bolting when she moves around him and snatches her bag from the floor beside him, giving him a glare
It takes a good few drinks and forcing his brother to sit down and tell him who the fuck he brought into his town before Joel gives him her full story
She's not just rough around the edges, like he had gauged during that first meal when he met her. He had thought she was quiet, antisocial maybe. No, she's full on raised-by-wolves wild.
He avoids telling Maria for another week to keep from stressing her out. He wonders how the hell his brother found this woman.
This becomes unavoidable when the problems start. She almost breaks a guy's wrist when he puts his hand on her shoulder. Ellie is yelling at people in her defense. Grant comes back from their first patrol together, without Joel, beat to shit for flirting with her. She keeps pulling weapons out on people.
He knows Joel likes her. Hell, he thinks the man even loves her despite his grumblings, ambiguity, and avoidance of the topic. So he's stuck between caring for his brother and his town/wife's wishes.
He tries to bridge the barrier during family dinners and gets nothing at first. It takes a few dinners and a couple of hints from Ellie (who is so much like Sarah sometimes it hurts) before he manages to get her to talk about music. And for a while, she doesn't seem so bad as he watches her warm up and relax and look a little bit more human.
He brings up seeing concerts growing up with Joel before serving in the Army and when he tells her Springsteen was a better show than Johnny Cash, somehow it's like she's a different person as she debates with him.
"You're fucking out of your mind. You saw Cash and you thought Springsteen was better?" "Hey, I didn't say it was bad-" "Springsteen?" "Are you going to kill me if I said I also liked Bon Jovi more?" "What the fuck is wrong with you?"
Lighter, quicker in her replies, more at ease. No stutters, no hesitancy. He can see what Joel means about those hints of her former self and he doesn't miss the smirk on his brother's face, even if Tommy is worried she's gonna kill him.
Things get tense when there is discussion of Red getting kicked out. He's the one that has to break it to Joel.
Maria is stressed after more incidents with Red and he's quick to suggest a different job. Less people, something she'd be more at ease with. The kennels were usually run by Jamie, the towns most experienced vet who was having to split time between the dogs and the horses and the farm animals. She's more than willing to have Red help.
Red takes to it quickly and Tommy can't help but feel proud of himself for the suggestion. Joel tells him he talked to her and she's trying even if it looks like torture for her. The incidents go down with the exception of the Harper problem. He makes it extremely clear to her she's to keep away from Red after Joel tells him what happened.
Red does well enough in the kennels that Maria thinks she's good to stay in their commune. The worry eases a bit and he can breathe.
Tommy often finds her there, sitting with the dogs, reading whatever books she can on training and caring for them. Jamie leaves some of her veterinarian texts for her to study and she's quick to focus on that. Joel tells him that when she has a goal, a job, she goes all in and it seems the dogs are her focus now.
He catches her there one day when he's returning Bailey back to her pen after a patrol. Usually they nod at each other and that's that, but he's almost startled out of his skin when she appears right behind him. He hadn't heard her at all. Sometimes she scares the shit out of him and he wonders if his brother has a death wish.
But she looks nervous and Tommy tries to be patient as she stutters out a sentence, almost looking frustrated at herself, "Um...it's getting colder...and, um, the puppies..." She takes a deep breath with clenched teeth and continues more evenly, "I don't want the pups to die and it's, um, too cold. Joel said I had to ask you."
He doesn't interrupt, tries to piece together what exactly she's asking and act like this was a normal situation, "You wantin' a heater installed in here for the dogs?"
She nods firmly before jumping to add (making him slightly flinch), "And the older dogs. The cold isn't good for their joints."
Maybe because he's trying to make an effort or because she doesn't ask for anything ever, but he's quick to agree even though it means arguing with the electrical team. He gets the heaters installed for her that week and even installs some insulation to help.
She seems a little less scary after that.
He's the one to find her when one of the senior dogs passes. She doesn't cry, but clings to his fur, laying on the ground, as if her warmth could bring him back. Part of him wants to go get Joel, but doesn't want to leave her alone. So he sits beside her, resting a hand on her back, and stays.
He helps her bury him and when she goes back to the pen, silent and closed off, then he goes and gets Joel. She stays there for a week until his brother manages to coax her back home.
It seems to break down some sort of wall between them. Even if she isn't exactly warm to him, he can tell there's less tension. He sees more hints of how she is with Joel and Ellie. She gets through a family dinner at his house and even throws a few more digs at his music tastes. When they're on patrol with Joel, she proves she is a much better shot than him and even laughs when he misses their designated target. Joel mutters "half a mile, my ass."
Old habits die hard. Joel was always the one to take charge, to tell him what to do. Now that Tommy is more in the leadership role they butt heads like before. They're arguing over construction plans and Joel is frustrated with Daniel, the man in charge of the project.
He knows Joel has more experience, but Maria had put Daniel in the head role and he wasn't going to undermine her. But his brother is on a rant about all the things the man is doing wrong and he's having to defend Maria's decision.
When things get more heated, Red is there. She doesn't say anything to him, but it's like having a live wolf in the room. He freezes at the way her eyes are blank, hollow, cold. One wrong move and she'd be on him, it didn't matter who he was. The argument ends if only so Joel can keep her from killing him over a dumb fight.
The line is clear. She'll protect her own against anyone. It terrifies him but he also respects it. Joel needs someone to watch his back.
Tommy doesn't realize how much she begins to grow on him until he happens upon her at the wood mill. The men are leering and one is giving her a hard time, obviously coming on to her. He knows she's trying. Trying to be less aggressive and reactionary, trying to keep her head down. But it's him that reacts when the guy grabs her arm firmly and doesn't let go. When she tries to shake him off and he spits out, "Maybe someone just needs to break you in, wild thing."
He doesn't think, old traits flaring back to life. Tommy socks the guy in the face. Hard.
The man hits the ground on his back hard and he just stands over him next to Red who looks unsure and a little surprised, a first for him to witness. But Tommy shakes his hand and hisses at the man, "Don't you lay a hand on anyone like that again, understood? Don't you even look at her ever or I'll break your fucking jaw. You can tell your buddies the same."
The rest of them don't say anything and he helps her grab what she needs before they leave.
They're walking back to Joel's house, his hand smarting a little and her holding the wood pieces she had gone to collect. They're almost at the house when she looks at him like she's trying to dissect every piece of him, split him open and analyze what makes him tick. It's uncomfortable but he stares back with what he hopes is an easy smile.
"You didn't have to do that," she mutters with a hard frown but he can hear the underlining words. Joel always said she has a hard time saying what she means. That you have to peek underneath what she's saying. You helped me, you came to my defense, why why why?
Tommy huffs and smiles a bit wider before patting her on the back. She doesn't flinch.
"I was just lookin' out for family, that's all."

Hottest guy in the bar
prompt: Trevor thinks you are looking at him, but you are really looking at Cole
word count:1,250
“Okay your turn Y/n,” Harper says swirling her sparkly drink around with the tiny umbrella it came with. “Guys you know I hate this game,” I say with a huge sigh. “C’mon, you have to. Rules are rules,” Melody responds giving me a look. Two years ago one night when we went out, we created a game. You give each other a category and they have to pick someone in the room who you would choose for said category. It was a stupid game but what can you expect when three drunk girls try to make a girl’s night more “exciting.”
Rolling my eyes, I do a quick glance around and my eyes stop on a table of four guys who look around our age. “Okay if I have to pick, I’d say him with the grey shirt,” I tilt my head in the general direction of them. “Okay, solid choice. I would have gone for the long-haired one but it wasn’t my question,” Harper laughs looking over at them. “Is it just me or are all of them like really hot,” Melody asks just plain out staring their way. “Stop it before they notice us looking,” I slap her arm, which does nothing. “May be too late for that hunny,” Harper smiles and points over to the table we had been gawking at. All four of them looked our way, some with smug looks.
The trio of us look at each other and start laughing. I can still feel their eyes every once in a while, I blush at the sudden attention. “Okay, it’s someone else’s turn,” I say downing the rest of my drink. “So Harp, who would make the best sugar daddy,” Mel says wiggling her eyebrows. Our table is once again filled with laughter, which gains attention from more than just the table of guys. “Definitely polo shirt at the bar,” she says and we all turn to look his way. “I cannot with you two tonight. I need another drink,” I laugh heading to the bar. “Don’t lie Y/n, we know you are really going up there for him,” they joke and I flipped them out while walking away.
As I am ordering my drink I feel a presence behind me. I scoot over to make room for them thinking they are just ordering a drink like me. “Why hello there,” I hear a deep voice say and I turn and see the longer-haired guy Harper was looking at earlier. “Hi,” I laugh and peek behind him seeing his friends all looking our way. “I’m Trevor. And who might you be,” his voice is filled with flirtation. “Oh uhm I’m Y/n. Nice to meet you, Trevor,” I say reaching around him to grab my drink.
“So I’ll just cut to the chase. I saw you guys checking us out. Was wondering if I could get your number,” he asks with a wink. I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh at him, which he took in a very good way. He stepped a little closer to me and smiled. “I’m so sorry. We weren’t checking you out. Well kinda but not in the way you think,” I say trying to be as nice as possible. After explaining the game he laughed too and I felt so relieved.
“Well I can’t say I’m not offended, but I think I’ll live,” he jokes putting his hand on his chest with a pout. “Oh, I am so sure that you will,” I laugh heading back to the table after telling him bye.”Dude sit the hell down and spill,” Harper says pulling me down. “He saw us pointing and giggling at them and wanted to come shoot his shot I guess,” I say shrugging taking a swig of my drink. “So that Greek god of a man asked you out and you said no,” she asks with a dumbfounded look on her face. Melody laughs so hard that she almost snorts. “I mean he is good looking but just not for me,” I shrug. She reaches over and puts a hand on my forehead checking for a fever. I laugh and push her hand off me. “I didn’t get his number for me. But after I told him I wasn’t interested he left this for you,” I smile and pass his number over to her.
She squealed and did a happy dance in her seat. “So he wanted Y/n originally, and now he wants you and that is okay,” Melody questions laughing. “Hell, I’d want her too if I was him. I’m happy to be the second choice for her,” she grins reaching across the table and pinching my cheek. We continued to talk and drink until we finally decided to call it. “I’ll pay the tab if you guys grab the Uber,” I say heading to the bar. “So we meet again,” Trevor laughs. I see him with another guy from the table. “Jack,” he reaches out to shake my hand. “Y/n,” I respond shaking it back. “Also thank you so much for humbling him. Really highlight of my night,” he laughs slapping Trevor on the chest. I roll my eyes laughing at the two while waiting for my card back.
“So you told me about the game, but I never got the question they asked you that Cole was the answer to,” the taller boy said leaning his back against the bar. A small blush creeps up onto my cheeks. “Oh, that. Uhm the question was who do you think the hottest person in the room was,” I smile at the bartender for handing me my card. I sign my receipt and grab a napkin writing my number quickly before I chickened out. “Actually could you give this to him for me,” I smile shyly pushing the napkin their way. “No promises,” Trevor winks turning to head back to the table. “I’ll make sure he gets it. For what it’s worth Cole is a really good guy,” Jack says with a smile and heads back.
I give the table one last glance before heading outside to meet the girls. I see the guy who I now know is named Cole smiling really big and blushing. We make eye contact and I give him a big smile and a wave heading outside. We all three get settled in the car deciding to head back to Melody’s place since it was closer. A small buzz interrupts our small talk and I pull out my phone.
Xxx-xxx-xxxx: If it’s any consultation I thought you were the hottest person in the room too ❤️
Xxx-xxx-xxx: this is Cole by the way
Pretty girl at the bar 🩷: yeah I kind of guessed that. and I guess it’s a good thing my friends made me play that stupid game tonight
Cole🔥🥵: well I’m glad my stupid friends made me go out tonight
Pretty girl at the bar 🩷: well here’s to stupid friends and stupid games 🥂
The two of us continued texting the whole night, which continued into the text day. Slowly going from texting to calling, and then calling to Facetime. I learned very quickly that Jack was right, Cole was a really good guy. Every time we walked I started to like him more and more. We had already planned a date for the next weekend. And I couldn’t help but be happy for my friends dragging me out for a girl’s night and playing our dumb game.

jaheira/astarion headcanons:
he constantly flirts (which is par for the course for astarion), as early as the end of Act 2, but it is just so ineffective. so ineffective. your lies mean nothing pretty boy!
jaheira enjoys rebuffing this and coming up with creative ways to tell him his lines do nothing, lol.
he also constantly winds her up as well. will joke about her being a bare-foot hippie for simply being a druid. has called her 'the great jaheira' and 'the high harper' before ('and what does the high harper think?'), just to annoy. attention-seeking behaviour!
this is admittedly something jaheira will also do. loves to rib him for complaining about the damp, the wet, the cold, the mud, nature in general, walking too much, carrying too much, etc. will call him a soft little baby and an aged old man at the same time.
they are a bickering couple
the fact that astarion couldn't give a shit about nature while jaheira is literally a druid is a running joke and theme when it comes to dunking on each other tbh.
another related running theme: when they finally do hit it off, it's a running joke they never actually have sex in a bed. at camp, in a field, in the dirt, on the floor or against the wall in an abandoned building - but almost never in a bed. (real reason: I did not realise you could rent the elfsong out, sorry. but also astarion does complain about this of course.)
astarion LOVES to try and get jaheira to talk shit. she presents herself as somewhat above it, but jaheira is probably partial some gossip and I think a habit that does begin in the early stages is they will share a bottle of wine and they will start being old judgy queens together
'you're becoming a bad influence,' she'll say, wrinkling her nose, hitting him lightly on the shoulder. 'Was I not already?' She rolls her eyes, walks away. 'All the best things are, darling!' he'll call out, with a cackle, as she walks away.
when jaheira actually turns and gives astarion a genuine and sincere compliment... critical hit, maximum damage, hits the fucking bullseye.
other ways of critically hitting: any gentle caress to his face after a genuine compliment.
lots of genuine arguments as well about adventuring choices. I think one thing that does draw me is that yes, astarion does have people pleasing tendencies but he does tend to be quite vocal about his opinion. I'm fairly sure he and jaheira will clash often BEFORE he becomes super drawn into any kind of romance arc & I think in some ways that's fairly good for him.
astarion thinks the fact that she can turn into a panther and just tear into something is the hottest thing and quite frankly I think he was interested as soon as he saw her do this in the moonrise towers fight.
on jaheira's end... quite frankly if he wasn't a vampire and if they didn't have a job to do she would have just bedded him sooner, he's easy on the eyes and good fun, so why not? It does hit her in the middle of their flirting period that in another universe she wouldn't have hesitated.
when they do hook up jaheira tries to keep it a secret / on the down-low. this lasts about five days LOL.
it's not actually astarion's fault - he can be discreet and respects her wishes - it's just this camp is full of gossip mongers and lae'zel has bat ears. within five days everyone Knows.
at least one person (probably wyll, since he's fairly insightful) thought they'd been hooking up since they hit rivington.
jaheira doesn't realise astarion is slightly older than her until she tries calling him cub.
he laughs her off as a flatterer. she's confused, he tells her to just go on and guess his age. she thinks he's 120 years old.
'Add another century to that darling and you're almost there'. Cue jaheira being slightly stunned and astarion absolutely revelling in it.
I think she will still sometimes refer to him / treat him as if he is younger and he to her as if she is older though. It becomes a running inside joke.
biting: very much off the table when they do finally hook up.
(this does not stop astarion brushing his fangs against her skin to tease her when they hook up. 'Careful. No biting.' 'Oh, I wouldn't dare').
the fact that he is a vampire actually is one of jaheira's concerns and a small point of contention. jaheira has an interesting banter where she explains about a time she killed a spawn quite dramatically - while she's not a 'kill on sight' reckless moralist, she's got no great love for the creatures, and as much as she does come to enjoy the banter and the company, it's tinged with wariness in the first half of Act 3, because Jaheira is slow to trust and quick to suspect
the first bite happens well after cazador is dealt with. honestly I can see it happening on the eve of the final battle. because of jaheira's initial wariness, it becomes a real moment of intimacy and trust. she lets him drink from the arm, rather than the neck, just to maintain more control, has healing and resurrection scrolls prepared (she does not tell him this because she doesn't want to freak him out), etc. But he's able to stop when she asks. After it's over there is a very warm moment, after astarion gives her his sincere, genuine thanks, of her cradling his face and calling him a messy eater (lol)
speaking of Cazador, that's... honestly, it's a Lot given they're having a 'light & breezy' romance and they're still in the casual dalliance stages, have only just started hooking up if at all. jaheira ends up learning about some of the horrific trauma through seeing rather than Astarion telling and I think it'd be a bit mortifying if he weren't so singularly focussed on the goal.
I think Jaheira offers to share a bottle of wine with him the night after. I think he takes up her offer and it's a mix of talking about what happened in his own words (Astarion is actually fairly direct when it comes to talking about traumatic incidents) and also talking about something completely different when it gets too much.
Things definitely do ramp up in the final stretch / final few days before the Battle with the Elder Brain. Lots of post-battle shenanigans with some honest and quite raw moments? It's one of the most intense points of their fling (which increasingly feels NOT like a fling).
But I think Jaheira instinctively draws back after the final battle and tries to walk back some of the intensity and intimacy that developed due to 'it might be our last chance', due to some ingrained fears of intimacy and loss + trying to rationalise it as an impulsive, heat-of-the-moment thing + an expectation that Astarion would just move on anyway (false).
Astarion goes off to become a hero in the spawn ending. He does often return to the gate and they always arrange to meet for a drink. There's a lot of catching up, chatting shit, but also Jaheira increasingly turns to him for advice and to get his perspective on an issue. I think she trusts his viewpoint and when she can get in her head about not being able to save everything or everyone, or a hard choice she has to make, he'll often just go, somewhat bluntly, 'well you did the important thing, didn't you?' and put things in perspective. You killed the bad guy, you stopped the plot, you saved that woman's life. Trust yourself more. (He'll attempt to walk this back with a joke about how he's still a libertine scoundrel; Jaheira will laugh him off)
'You work too hard' is a common complaint of Astarion's. He's right. Jaheira always appreciates hearing it.
I think it's here we might also get touches of Astarion's 'I want to be close without having sex' we see in Act 2. I think there's at least on occasion where they initiate sex, he backs out, she's supportive and they end up cuddling.
Something Jaheira discovers way too late, following the events of the game: he's damned good at giving a massage. 'You didn't think to tell me this while we were sleeping in the dirt?' (Response is something like: 'Oh Jaheira, you wish you'd used me more for my body? My my.')
As said before, the 'I actually have sincere feelings for you' confession comes unexpectedly during the epilogue party, astarion impulsively ends up telling her. Jaheira... has to suddenly deal with the distance she put up like a wall coming crashing down because Astarion is impulsive and bad at holding things in
I think in an interesting mirror to Astarion's request to go slow with sex, Jaheira says she'll need to go slow with intimacy and romance. It's been a while (more than long enough), but she's not really had anything serious since her husband died.
I think as a compromise they maintain long distance for a bit, Astarion continues to adventure, but he'll visit with increasing frequency and for increasingly long periods. Jaheira will, after a while, insist he stay with her and not just in a tavern, and this gradually morphs into him spending months at a time in Baldur's Gate before a lead will pull him in another direction.
Which I think is good for them both. I think Astarion does well from a chance to just develop an identity for himself without being 'a partner' and grow on his own through adventuring. I think it also helps things develop at a pace Jaheira's comfortable with and means Jaheira can set some very concrete boundaries.
As things become serious and Astarion just drops the mask, they're very much 'fondly rib each other in public whenever one of them is even a displays affection, but deeply soft and sweet with each other in private'
Takes them a long while to say anything like 'I love you'.
Personally I can see them doing it after the other gets injured in battle. Berating them for being reckless and then telling them they love them, they're terrified, etc. Quite frankly I can see this happening to them both, but given Jaheira has lost a love before... more meaningful from her mouth.
Astarion is nothing like Khalid and Jaheira is very thankful for this. He's a different thing entirely, but it's not any kind of lesser love either.
#astarion#jaheira#jahstarion#jaheira/astarion#please enjoy these sets of headcanons i wrote at 4am because i was dealing with back pain. most fucking 30s thing ever.#i turn 30 i develop backpain i get obsessed with old queen/old queen. standard.

Such a strange girl | yandere!bonnie harper x gn!reader
A/N Note: I hope this is okay and i'm sorry I took so long I always forgot about it 😭 also this was requested by @gh4stfaces
Bonnie P.O.V
Eversince I became pretty I've been having boys throwin themselves down their knees to have me but one person has caught my eye they are not like anyone I don't know how to explain it. They are like a goddess. Their name is y/n and they just moved here and what a coincidence not they are in all my classes. I just have to have them and there is no one gettin in my way even if it means I have to use a little magic. But now I need to focus on gettin to school.
Y/N P.O.V
"Oh fuck" I say when I look at the clock it's 8am school starts at 8am I quickly get myself ready, get my stuff and run to school. "This cannot be happening on my first day" I say to myself while running into the school and making it to my first class history with mister johnson. I knock at the door and see a gorgeous girl opening it and it feels like I've seen her before but I can't quite place her. My mood falls when I hear Mr Johnson say: " Look who decided to join us finally please take a seat beside bonnie. The next time you run late you are getting detention you hear me?" "Yes sir" I say and then sit beside the girl that opened me the door named Bonnie. She smiles at me and I smile back. When the lesson finally ended which felt like forever I try talking to her but at my luck some guy starts talking to her first. But at her expression I could tell she wasn't very happy about it and quickly pushed him away and started talking to me. "Hi Y/N i'm Bonnie as you already know... Well Mr Johnson assigned me to give you a tour around the school so we miss chemistry with miss brown which atleast for me isn't such a shame." at the last remark we both giggled and then she showed me around the school. While we walked around the school ground we talked for a bit I found out that she had a friendgroup of 4 people Nancy,Sarah,Rochelle and her of course and that she loves nature. She even invited me to sit with her friends at lunch and since I know no one else here of course I said yes.
Bonnie P.O.V
This is it I finally talked to them after weeks of only briefly seeing her moving here with her family. Now really wanted to wait for them to get to know me and us making a connection that way but I just can't wait because what if some guy just starts talking to them and they go out I can't let that happen of course I need to protect whats rightfully mine. I mean they would understand right? Maybe not but I know what's good for them and i'm gonna push them just a little. So i'm gonna practice a love spell on them. But she doesn`t need to know that. Well I took a few streaks of their hair off their shirt while in class and secured it. So I did the spell and also made a sort of love fragrance that I read about the smell makes the person never wanting to leave ur side and thats exactly what Y/N needs. So lets see how it goes.
Y/N P.O.V
I cant stop thinking about her.. about Bonnie. Shes like a goddess I just love her so much. God how can I even say that I dont even know her but something inside me tells me shes the right person for me that we are gonna be together forever for eternity. Nothing really nothing is gonna keep me away from her. She`s such a strange girl. God I really need to sleep now.
Bonnie P.O.V
It worked. It REALLY worked. They are head over heels for me. I cant even get them off of me not like I want to either. Its perfect they`re perfect. This is perfect. And they are all mine and if someone gets in the way there might be another missing person poster up on the board. Thats just what a good girlfriend does right?

Hmm…
Request: Capri x Reader, pool party, not dating but like each other, reader gets hurt (small cut or like scrapes their knee) and Capri helps bandage them up
Kiss It Better
Capri Donahue x fem! reader
Warnings: coarse language, fluff, mutual pining? lol not really, kissing
“What can I do to make you feel better?”
You knew who Capri was, obviously. Everyone at the school does, even the freshmen. And if they somehow didn’t, Capri made sure they knew who she was by the end of day. She was the hottest girl in school. You’ve never had a proper conversation with her, ever. So one fine day, when you got to school and checked your locker in the morning, you thought this was a mistake: the fact that there was an invitation to her party, in your locker. You were sure it must’ve been a mistake, however when you saw your name on the card, the air got knocked out of your lungs as you read the words written on the paper.
This invitation was addressed to you, asking you to go to her party this weekend. You really wanted to go and was hoping this wasn’t a prank. It’s not unknown that Capri and her girls have played a prank like this before, though it’s been awhile so you couldn’t help but be wary.
Slipping it into your file, you got your needed textbook out of your locker and headed to home room firstly. Part of you was buzzing with excitement, another part was trying to shove that aside and be careful of her intentions. Whatever they might be. As much as you admired how confident and absolutely gorgeous she effortlessly looked, you didn’t know the girl that well, but you knew how capable she was off ruining someone’s reputation. Darby Harper was a prime example— the two were best friends, then god knows what happened, they weren’t friends anymore and became sworn enemies. You talked to Darby sometimes, and you’d always catch Capri or her girls giving you a look. It pissed you off, but also made you feel…sad. Darby was a good student and great friend. But because of their falling out, Darby’s gradually became more of a lone wolf.
Did you mention that she was gorgeous? Yeah, you did.
“Hi!” You sat in the desk next to Darby’s.
“Hey.” She said to you, quietly.
You gave her a small smile as you put your stuff down.
“You got an invite too?” She leaned closer to ask.
Your head whipped around to face her so quickly, “Yes.”
Unfortunately, your conversation was abruptly interrupted by morning announcements. And you didn’t see her again until lunch due to differing classes. So when lunch break rolled around, she immediately looked for you. “y/n!”
You jumped in your seat, startled. “Oh, good. It’s just you.”
“Sorry.” She laughs, sitting down.
“So…you got the invitation too. Anyone else?”
“The usual people.” Darby tells you, digging into her food. “James was invited to this time, and he’s going. I saw him in bio and he noticed the invitation in my binder.”
“What?”
“Oh, yeah. It’s kinda hard to miss— bright pink envelopes and blue glittery pen ink?”
“No, I mean—”
‘Girl, what the hell are you trying to say? Shut it.’
You pursed your lips together, opening the cap of your water bottle. “Mean, what?”
“Nothing.”
“Okay.” She answered, unconvinced.
“Nothing.” You insisted.
“Okay, relax, y/n.” She answered teasingly.
After lunch, you were walking out of the cafeteria among a sea of students who were too busy chatting away, and you got shoved into someone. “Shit!” You gasped, horrified, “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay, sorry!” You heard, and before you got even see who it was, she was gone.
“Are you okay?” Darby held onto your shoulder.
“I’m fine.” You huffed, “Now if these people can just be in less of a rush…”
She lets go of you, “Since when do they want to get to class on time, anyway?”
You scoffed, “I know, right? At least watch where you’re going.”
Darby chuckles, “Right. I’ll see you tomorrow? Have a good rest of your day, okay?”
You nodded, “See ya, Darbs. You too.”
While Darby headed towards the gym, you were going upstairs for Study Hall. Pushing the door to the classroom open, you were met with a few desk choices: right in the back corner with a jock, in the second row next to someone who was clearly having a cold, or in the middle row beside Taylor and Bree.
The jock made you uncomfortable by staring at you, and you did not want to risk catching a cold even more than you already were. But did you have the guts to sit right by the school’s most popular people?
“Sit next to me.” You heard a voice right behind you, by your ear. It snaps you out of your thoughts and you scurried to the desk, not wanting to be in the way.
Oh god, did she just ask you to sit next to her? Why?
Not that you wouldn’t want to, but why?
“Don’t let him get to you.” Taylor quips, “Sit here and he wouldn’t even dare look at you again.”
“Okay.” You muttered, “Thanks?”
“Jesus, relax.” Capri leaned over to you and said in a hushed voice, “Why are you so tense?”
“I dunno.” You shrug, removing a textbook and a worksheet from your backpack. Capri squinted, confused, then her brows were raised for a moment. She shrugs, saying nothing else for awhile, letting you work on your assignment.
Hang on— was it her that you bumped into right outside the cafeteria?!
“Hey.” You heard. You didn’t pay attention, assuming it was her talking to Bree or Taylor. But then, she taps you on the shoulder.
“Oh.” You put your pen down, “Sorry. Yeah?” You were still looking at your work instead of at Capri. You couldn’t do it.
“You got the invitation?”
“Yeah.” You confirmed.
“Are you gonna come?” She asked next.
“Why do you want me there?” You asked back, taking in a deep breath.
“Because I do. And you’re nice, so…”
What kind of reason was that? You have been nice to her, when partnered up for class projects. Things were civil but she was at the top of the food chain, you— were at the bottom.
You kept quiet after that. “I think it’ll be fun. It’s a pool party, and the weather’s getting really hot so that’ll be a good way to cool off.” Bree continued.
Tempted again, more so now.
————
Once the final bell rang, you immediately left the school and made your way home. Your only stop was the coffeeshop to grab yourself a sandwich for later. You wanted to take a nap and did not feel like cooking— you were home alone for two weeks since your parents were out of town on business trips. Leaving the cling-wrapped sandwich on the dining table, you quickly got changed into comfy clothes then dove straight into bed and fell asleep. It was Thursday, and you couldn’t wait for the weekend to be here so you could rest.
You could only hope this decision was the right one to be made…but there was no denying you weren’t excited about being part of her circle, kinda. She was being nice so far.
Putting your phone aside, you munched on your sandwich while staring into space. After your snack break, you finished your remaining homework then went ahead to take a shower to freshen up. And then…you got more texts from Capri. Which you didn’t exactly feel like replying to because it feels like you were so excited and have been trying to be nonchalant about everything.
“What on Earth— a voice message?” You mumbled to yourself, thumb hovering over the play button.
‘Hey, did Darby say anything about coming to the party?’
‘No. Why?’
‘I was gonna talk to her and apologise if she came. But do you have her number? I don’t know if she blocked me or changed her number.’
You went into your Contacts and shared Darby’s number to Capri. Then, your phone was plugged in to charge while you watched TV.
The rest of your night was very quiet, as expected. And with your homework all done, you were ready to get back into bed and turn in for the night. The next day, you got to school a little earlier than usual since you got up earlier. You were outside the library reading a book you’d just borrowed when someone tapped you on the shoulder. “Shit.” You cursed, “What?”
“Geez.” The voice behind you said.
You turned around and was met with Capri standing right there. “Oh, it’s you.”
“I know you don’t like me, but didn’t mean to scare you, you know?”
You licked your lips then pursed them together, making a mental note of which page you’d stopped reading at before shutting the book.
“What is it?”
“What?”
“Why are you suddenly talking to me?” You asked her timidly.
“I told you— I wanted to make more friends.”
You shrug, “How’d it go with Darby?”
“Went well. We’re good now.” She smiled, sitting down next to you. Your heart skipped a beat then started to race. Your mind, it went empty as you blinked profusely trying to gather your thoughts once again.
“Good for you.” You smiled.
“Are you…afraid of me?” She asked with her signature smirk. You felt your cheeks flushing, so you swiftly looked away to suppress the formation of the blush.
You laughed awkwardly, “More like, intimidated.”
“Why?”
You cleared your throat, “Why?”
“Yeah.” She nodded, looking curious.
“You are the most popular person in school. You’re like— untouchable. Unbeatable. Top of the food chain, Capri.” You told her, fingers picking at the corner of the book in your hand.
An indescribable silence fell between you and her, then you heard a heavy exhale. “Well, I hear you. And I’m serious about wanting to get to know you, y/n.”
“You know my name?” You asked, half joking, half actually surprised.
“Of course I do.” The melodious laugh of hers filled the space. “Contrary to popular belief, I’m not that stupid.”
Then came a very fast, “You’re not stupid.”
Capri hums, biting back a scoff, “My mom used to tell me I’d have to use my looks to get by. That I wasn’t smart enough, so— there’s that. What are you doing in school an hour early anyway?”
“Slept early, woke up early. You get the picture.”
“Okay.” She replied simply. “And…if you don’t want to the party, you don’t have to come. I don’t want you to feel like you have to do something if you don’t feel like you’d enjoy it.”
She turned around and stood up from the bench, “I’ll see you around?”
“See you.” You replied, smiling but she didn’t see it since you were facing away from her.
As you watched her leaving, hearing her heels clacking against the floors, your own words swarmed through your head: ‘…untouchable. Unbeatable. Top of the food chain, Capri.’
‘She’s way out your league, y/n. Get away from her before you get your heart broken. Stay away. Stop before you get attached.’
————
You found a folded post-it note in your library book that had her handwriting on it. One note that contained her phone number. You held it in your hand, as though having a staring contest with it while you contemplated what to do with it. You puffed out your cheeks, perplexed.
‘She’s just a friend— no, an acquaintance, y/n. Stop. Stop. Stop this. You cannot catch feelings for the school royalty.’
Completely annoyed with yourself and this dilemma, you tossed both your phone and the paper asides. Leaning back, your head rest over the couch backrest as you stared at the ceiling. You stayed that way a few minutes until your phone’s buzzing caught your attention.
You had two days to the pool party. Forty-eight hours. Do you go, or not?
You knew you couldn’t text her, like actually text her number. So, you didn’t do that. But you really wanted to go to the party. That, you did. You were gonna go.
Hearing a honk outside your house, you grab your sling bag, phone and keys then headed out the door. “Hey!” She leaned closer and waved. You wave back and brisk-walked over, getting into the front seat with Darby.
“I haven’t seen you in school for two days. Are you alright?”
“Yeah, just— a cold.”
A lie.
“Oh, how are you feeling now?”
“I’m okay.”
Another lie.
“Did she text you again? Because, she’s texted me at like eleven last night and—”
“Nope.” You shook your head.
Another lie. Hooray.
You so desperately wanted to ask her for advice, but decided to shut up instead. As a result, the rest of the drive was awkwardly long and quiet.
“Are you okay?”
“Sure.”
You went ahead of her and stood on Capri’s porch, pressing the doorbell. “Hey, you came! Come on in.” Capri answers the door.
“Hi.” You smiled softly, she stood to the side and you walked in.
“Darby! Hey.”
“Hello.” Darby replied while you walked through the room to the backyard and pool area. You sat down on a pool chair and just watched the cheer squad swimming and chatting together. They didn’t even see you walk in.
You did hear Darby and Capri laughing and walking to the pool a couple minutes later, completely lost in their own world. While they were talking, you minded your own business and just read your book that you’d brought.
Taylor came up beside you to chat awhile later, giving you something else to do. “Hey. What’s up?”
“Just reading. And tanning, I guess.”
“What book is that?”
“Oh.” You showed her the cover, “Stuck Up and Stupid.”
She gasped softly, “Ooh. That one’s pretty good.”
“Taylor.” Piper walked by, tapping her shoulder, “I’m gonna go make some snacks. You want anything?”
“Whatever’s fine, Piper.”
“I’ll help.” You decided it was time to get up and walk.
You went back inside with Piper, she looked through the pantry for what to use. “She doesn’t have any fruit in the fridge? Damn.” Piper remarked.
“How about just the canned fruits for now?” You suggested.
“Ooh.” She spotted them too, and took out a can of tropical fruit cocktail and placed it on the island. You took that and pulled it open by the tab. Piper was back looking through the pantry. Capri was walking in and you got fucking distracted. Somehow, you’d grabbed the can lid by the sides and it gave you a cut. You yelped, retracting your hand. It immediately caught the attention of Piper who was right there but she screamed. That, alarmed Capri.
“What’s going on?”
“Bleeding. She’s bleeding— oh god—”
As Capri scurried closer, you began to panic and notice the wound on your thumb. You grab a kitchen towel and hastily tried it off but the blood only kept flowing and soaking the paper. Capri’s eyes widened, “My God. That—”
Capri told you to keep putting pressure on it while she ran off somewhere, returning with the first aid kit. Meanwhile, Piper left the living area with a bowl containing the canned fruit. Capri groans, “Couldn’t you help?”
“I’m scared of blood.” Piper says, “Sorry!”
“Let me see.” Capri sighs softly, holding onto your wrist. You slowly pulled the paper towel away. There was nothing for like, three seconds then the blood was seen again. “Shit.” She muttered, letting go of the used paper towel and tore off a new one from the roll. Holding onto your wrist on one hand, she held the paper towel around your thumb with the other, tightly.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah— yeah— I— I’m okay.” You stuttered, mind slowly going blank and then your thoughts were getting all jumbled.
“Okay.” She bit back a smirk, “Hold on to it.”
You quickly got ahold of your paper-clad thumb again to keep the pressure on it while she unwrapped a band-aid. “Run it under the tap.” Capri instructed.
You hesitated, knowing that it would hurt.
She tilted her head as a silent ask for you to hurry and do it. So you did. Wincing through every agonising second of it. She helps you dry it off and smoothly put the bandaid on. “Keep it on for awhile.”
You only nodded and told her a quiet thank-you.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” She leaned down to peek at your face since you were looking at the floor. Capri held your wrist again, somehow managing to make you have eye contact with her. Damn, your heart was quickly racing again.
You licked your lips, randomly feeling tears forming in your eyes. “Hey.” Capri said softly, “It’s okay.”
You swallowed your tears. It hurt, but it couldn’t be worse than the heartbreak of you were to risk it and tell her how you felt.
“Don’t cry.” She says in the same tone, “Hm? What can I do to make you feel better?” You shook your head, wiping your tears away with your thumb of your free hand that wasn’t in her grip.
You sniffed, “I’m fine.” She was still holding onto your wrist, then now, your hand— fingers? Intertwining.
She brought your hand, specifically, your thumb to her lips and pressed a kiss to it. Your eyes went so wide, and you felt like you could scream. You didn’t, of course. Your voice was gone entirely. You let out a… noise. God knows what that noise was. Ugh.
She giggles quietly, “Yay, you’re not crying anymore.”
You couldn’t help it and cracked a smile, “Thanks.”
She swung your hand a little, “Glad you’re okay.” Taking another look at your thumb she says, “Good, the bleeding’s stopped.”
“Why are you still holding onto my hand?”
She stood closer to you, bodies almost pressed up against each other’s. “Because…I…like…you.”
“What?” You mumbled, a flustered laugh falls from your lips.
“I like you.”
“I heard you.” You gulped. “What?”
“y/n, I like you.” She laughs, “Why are you so shocked?”
“Because you’re you.” You spat out nervously, “Capri, you’re so out of my league, you’re in your own league.”
She wasn’t fazed, she just kept looking at you. Staring into your soul, it seems. The tension was tangible as your breathing grew heavy. The panic amping up, as were the butterflies in your stomach. They were raging. As close as she was to your face, she no longer intimidated you. Maybe thanks to her tending to your injury so carefully. But either way, you got a sense of ‘it’s now or never’. You were alone, together. She was initiating something— whatever it was, you were ready to let your desire take over. Let your heart take over instead of letting your head tie you down with doubts.
She leaned in, you followed her lead. Her lips, they met yours first and you felt like fireworks went off in your chest. Feeling the warmth of her fingertips along your cheek and her palm eventually cupping your face, your heart fluttered feeling each little sensation from her touch. You let her take the lead, and she was gladly doing so.
When she began to pull away, you nearly whined, not wanting her lips to leave yours. She laughs, stroking your cheek with her thumb. “I’ve been wanting to do that for months.”
A grin forms on your face immediately, and you were definitely unable to hide it. And the blush. You nodded, “Good to know.”
“You probably shouldn’t swim.” She tells you.
“Yeah I know.” You finally regained your composure.
“So…” You both said.
“You like me.” You said, mainly to yourself. Definitely to yourself— still in disbelief.
“Yes, I do.” She sneaks an arm around your waist squeezing your side.
“Oh my God.” You muttered, laughing.
She smooched your cheek, “You want some ice cream? You like caramel macadamia, right?”
“Sure, yeah.” You sat down at the island. “How’d you know—”
“I have my ways, y/n.” She winked, “I’m very resourceful.”

Summary Notes of Terror Camp 2023 (9.12.23)
(A small summary of notes and references I took during Terror Camp Day One)
Erasure of Sailors of Colour in Arctic Exploration!!! Needs to be explored much more. JEAMS Fitz-James Fitzjames - w'ont put his apostrophes in the back of words. Capitalising Letters where you would Not usually capitalise them is like Italics. it is Emphasis in speech when written.
These jokes are getting Auld. (If you know you know)
Most things were phonetically written.
WOAHOO!!! - James Thompson
Relic? Or Artefact?
Semiophore - Objects regarded in a given community as carries of meaning.
Walpole is a little fucked in opinion. (imo)
Dundy was awful at spelling. Worse than Goodsir.
Capitalists should really look into Thomas Holloway
Everyone knows and loves Snarfin' On Them Ribs Saturday Man Proposes, God Disposes
Lady Jane was offended.
Hudson Bay Speedrun - Let Curiosity be your Compass
James Knight does not girlboss but he thinks he does.
A Ship Called The Whalebone Roald was both an asshole but good at what he did.
The Raft of the Medusa - We knew where that was going.
Johnathan Miles is a Horse Girl
Foreshadowing of the Cannibalism and Mutiny
HOOSH
History is a Panopticon They were just people... (Also a Note. I am worried that a lot of the fandom thinks that the concept of a Panopticon originates from TMA and that it was a TMA reference. It was not. I am wondering now if the TMA listeners know who Jeremy Bentham is.)
Cultural Understandings
IceBound Not Down - I did not take a lot of notes on Professor Hester Blum's panel. I was far too invested to write and when it was over I realised I had not made any notes. She was incredible. I loved her narratives very much. I would love to get her book. It is on my list! You would have had to have been there. It was wonderful. Not News: Dan Simmons is a wee fuckboy. We have established this a lot. He also establishes this for us. (?) Umlaqtalik - There is a boat there.
Imperialism is a disease.
How to read Ethically!
Some of my Notes from the Panel with Paul Ready and Nive Nielsen:
"You can hear a smile in a recording" - Nive Nielsen
Paul "I am not an expert on Anything" Ready
He is so very attached to Goodsir. Goodsir is very much a part of him. Hearing him talk about how integrated Goodsir is to himself was wonderful.
"I think we need more Goodsirs in the world."
Nive and her impressive education on the importance of indigenous representation and how that impacted her. How her voice as not only an actor but an Indigenous Actor was taken with such respect and was given the space to allow for respectful and creative extrapolation on the Set.
A small Note in my book that says: Oh goodness me he is hideously beautiful. I cannot stand how beautiful he really is. Oh my goodness.
"Nothing is good or bad. Just the potential to be." - Nive Nielsen - Terror Camp 2023
Nive: All Humans are good at picking up sincerity.
Goodsir would have hated Hickey.
"Ah. Would you look at that. Dead with my ass carved up." - Paul Ready
Nive: You cannot kill people or let people die because everything is connected and you do not know how that will effect your future. You have to depend on each other. So when there was conflict you had to solve it with as little violence as possible.
A very Important Book Nive Nielsen had spoken about!
You can get a copy on Thriftbooks of "Give Me My Father's Body" by Kenn Harper Here
I had an incredible amount of fun during this event. I am so excited for tomorrow. What notes you are seeing here are just references to part of the panels and some side comments I had made between all of my other more detailed notes. There was so much to be had and so much that we saw and heard. The speakers were incredible and each individual was incredibly dedicated to their impressive Art and Passion. It truly showed. As Nive said: You can hear a smile in a recording". I feel as if this applies to every one of the speakers and all of the panels we had the pleasure to enjoy today.
I have more detailed notes in my journal which, of course, you can see I scrawled a lot in. I had amassed about seven whole pages worth in that time. So to type them all would be just simple a task I cannot do. But I am open to discussions regarding how everything was if you did not get to attend it! Also Terror Camp has a wonderful setup available for you to explore the other avenues that they have presented on their website. So please do go check that you if you are interested! I cannot wait to do this tomorrow with my fellow Shipmates. Thank you so much for everyone that put together @terrorcamp. I am quite excited for tomorrow!
With much love and saltwater kisses,
Second Leftenant in heart and spirit,
-Wilbur E. F. C.

sulani: set sometime after this
cw: while i tried to deal with it in a light way (without trivialising the issue), this does allude to consent. nothing happens, everyone’s wishes are respected, and no one is persuaded/pressured to do anything. just in case the subject may understandably be triggering for some though.
(also while I did my best with @akitasimblr's leo harper - or rather my homebrand cc free knock-off - nothing he does is canon unless Ana says it is!)
* * *
"Looking good, Leo. Why, thank you, you handsome devil. Have to say, Ms. “I’ve done more mucking out than messing around” was not the contestant I was expecting this call from. But we all saw her in that bikini. I would hardly refuse."
It was at this moment, Araminta knew that she had fucked up.
(Oooh, he is going to hate me. And completely ruin my chances with Dodo, if not my entire reputation simply out of spite. I know his type too well. Still, Minty. An explanation is owed - and an apology. You come from two long lines of royalty, so you must have a spine somewhere. Find it.)
"I have to say, this was an unexpected surprise, but not an unwelcome one. Can I get you anything? There’s a chardonnay chilling that will knock your socks off. And a few other things too, but we can take our time with that."
"..."
"Uh, Minty? I assume we’re on pet name terms, or we’re about to be. If it’s the chardonnay, I can have something else brought up."
"... .... ...."
"Listen, between you and me, when you get us five star celebrities between the sheets? We’re just Some Guy. Well, some of us anyway. I have it on good authority that Thorne Bailey for example is the worst woohoo. Like not even one star. So don’t be nervous! Assuming that you’re nervous because it’s me."
(cue Leo's own math lady meme moment)
"Orrrr are you nervous because you’ve changed your mind - and you don’t know how to tell me?"
(looks up at him hopefully)
"Well, I’m taking anything other than shoving me onto the bed as a resounding ‘no, I’m not into this anymore.’ Why don’t I check on that chardonnay, and you take a moment? If I end up having the entire bottle to myself, that’s okay."
"See? It was fine. You are fine. Pull yourself together, Araminta."
* * *
"I… didn’t mean to text you. Your profile pictures look exactly the same."
"Funny how that works. So, you thought that you were texting my brother? And in spite of having at your fingertips the hottest commodity in the entire Simsverse - ie. my own personal private number - you decided that you’d rather attempt a night of passion with that doofus instead?"
"Well... yes?"
(leaves unsaid that there wasn't even a decision to be made. also - ahem. dodo is not a doofus, thank you.)
"But Watcher, everyone knows that I’m the sexy twin!"
(tactful silence)
"I am so terribly sorry, Leo. And quite frankly, mortified. I’d tear up my contract right now if I could."
"Contracts don’t work like that, Princess. Trust me. Don’t sweat it. It’s nothing to leave the challenge over. I can’t promise that I won’t laugh at you later or bring it up on the show at some point, but apart from you being a boring do-gooder, we’re cool. Deep breaths."
"I did, er, bring some wine myself. It’s an aged Chestnut Ridge red from our cellar, and I had thought that Dodo-"
"Totally wasted on him. Give me that."
"Thank you, by the way, for being so nice about this."
"Nice? Ha. I thought you lived on some Henford estate, not beneath a rock. But I’m not a creep. If you don’t one hundred percent want to be here, then I don’t want you here. Period. Go downstairs and get a massage or something. It looks like you need it."
"I may do just that."
"Wait - let’s check that you have my brother’s number right. You may have picked the wrong twin, but there’s nothing wrong with your taste in wine. And if you and Dodo don’t work out, then I’m always happy to mentor a promising up-and-comer." (winks)
"I’ll, uh, bear in mind that generous offer."
"No you won’t. You’re just being polite. Now scram. I’d totally smack your arse on your way out, but the Watcher is too cheap for that pack. And if you ever tell anyone other than Dodo that I wasn’t a total dick to you, I’ll spread a rumour that you once drank white wine with red meat or some other shit that would totally ruin your good name within 'polite' society."
"Plum, she really was that surprised at me being cool with her not wanting to sleep with me. The bar for men is so low, it must be in fucking Selvadorada. Here’s to being the sexy twin. And to all my daughters hopefully being lesbians."
"Hey, this is really a nice vintage. Nice girl too, unfortunately. But I could have fixed her, Watcher..."
#mad about dodo#araminta hearst-irsay#context: araminta texted the wrong twin#and was worried leo would be nasty when she refused#but he was chill#and in his mean traited way actually dropped some truths#the 'even bad guys have standards' trope everyone#anyway i promised you something light and silly ana#i don't think this was it#but i hope you begin to feel better soon#other people's sims#other people's cool stuff#leo harper

{ King of Calm }
Summary: Steven takes ridiculously good care of Emma while she's having a rough mental health moment. Pairing: Original Character { Emma Harper } x Steven Grant, mentions of Emma Harper x Marc Spector && Emma Harper x Jake Lockley Contents: fluff, psychic connection, energy healing, hurt/comfort esque, happy ending Warnings: severe mental illness { hallucinations, overwhelm, overstimulation, anxiety, instability } didn't super go into detail in the piece but it's kinda the main part of this one. nothing else really I don't think? Author's Note: Was gonna do some more angst and then I just couldn't last night. This piece had been sitting in my wip drafts for a bit. This one does again, tap on the psychic connection between Emma and the boys that is prevalent in most of my works. They are deeply connected and can communicate telepathically, empathetically, etc. You'll notice Emma is able to hear everything in their minds and vice versa. Word Count: 771
She can feel her mind’s instability, her brain seeming to be sore and weak. As the overstimulation begins to take over more, her breath begins to get more shallow.
Everything is too loud, too bright even as she puts in her earbuds and turns on some music known for its nervous system regulatory effects. She hides her face beneath a pillow to get away from the light.
“You’re up, Steven,” Marc says quietly as he makes his way down the hallway, relinquishing control of the body.
Steven freezes for a moment as he adjusts, mumbling, “Cheers, mate...” He doesn’t pause again until he slides up behind her in the bed, kissing her shoulder firmly.
‘Hello, love…’ he murmurs in her mind softly.
Emma’s quick to scoot back into him, settling into his arms as she tries to focus on any one thing.
He tightens his arms around her, giving another slow kiss to the nape of her neck. He breathes deeply against her, settling a hand onto her abdomen as if silently encouraging her to breathe with him.
She follows suit almost immediately, taking in each inhale with him and releasing it on his exhale.
She squeezes her eyes shut tighter, clutching the pillow over her eyes more snugly.
Steven’s thumb gently grazes over her stomach, releasing a soft sympathetic sound as he attunes himself to her presently chaotic mind.
‘You’re alright, angel—we’ll pull through just like we always do…’ His warm voice resonates through her mind, not wanting to overwhelm her even more.
At his words, she shifts to face him, hugging herself tightly to his front and hiding her face in his neck. One of her earbuds falls out and he’s quick to retrieve it and return it to its place.
He then begins rhythmically stroking his fingers up and down her spine, tucking his head over hers protectively.
Minutes pass as he continues to do what he can to soothe her overstimulation. Truthfully, he’s not sure it’s as effective as he hopes but he doesn’t stop.
She takes what seems to be a much deeper breath on her own, as well that her body seems to unwind a little.
He's relieved to say the least as she continues to slow down, her thoughts quieting.
Emma can feel a low buzz resonating out through her spine into the rest of her body, likewise traveling up into her brain. It feels so nice and so peaceful—not to mention familiar, that she starts to wonder.
She frowns lightly, shifting back away from him just enough to face him.
“Steven…”
“Hmmm?”
“Are you—…did you just—”
His scowl of concentration matches her own, suddenly more worried again, “what is it? Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” She murmurs, a little stunned, “it just felt like you were—…performing reiki…on me…”
“Oh bollocks, did I do it wrong? I was just—I mean—I thought it might ‘elp ya know—take the edge off and—bugger, I didn’t ask for consent first and—”
“Steven—Steven!” She calls gently to him, shaking her head and putting a hand to his cheek. “You didn’t do it wrong…and it did help…” She reassures him, giving him a soft smile.
“When did you learn how to do that?”
“Well, I just—y’know—I find so much of well—what you do, absolutely fascinating and I figured—‘f one ‘ve us knew how to do some of the healing bits it might help, what with y’know your conditions…’course Marc could do with some bloody healing t—”
She can’t help but beam at him as he rambles, silencing him before he can finish by rushing forward to catch his lips.
Steven’s eyebrows shoot up, his lips forming to hers in surprise but quickly moving firmly against them.
His eyes squeeze shut tighter as he shifts to pull her closer, almost completely forgetting everything else for a split second before retreating. Stumbling quietly, “maybe we shouldn’t, ya know…--I mean you aren’t feeling well…”
Emma rolls her lips in, the dimples dipping into her cheeks, her lashes fluttering shyly as she tells him softly, “thank you…”
When she gives him that look, he all but short circuits, getting stuck on her with a lopsided grin at his mouth, half in a daze, “For what, love?”
She pokes him in the chest a few times, timidly, “you know what…”
Quietly in their minds they can both hear a smug, ‘Steven Grant, King of Calm…’
Emma’s eyes flash down, trying to conceal a smile and failing as her cheeks begin to heat.
‘Oh yeah—overstimulation doesn’t stand a chance…’
