I just wanted to say - as I'm recording the shifter au - Zeb 1 is one of my favorites for poor Ezra still not getting to see human!Kanan. He's so peeved! Ezra and Kanan definately had me laughing multiple times. Plus, that whole scene also works so well in this AU! I love the tension that it brings of "oh shit, Zeb isn't a flying ace like Hera can they get out of it" (1/3)

Then the little details in like Hera 1 of Kanan has been through the clone wars - like the "flies the freighter like a star fighter". Some of the moments like that where not outright stated work so well! It's so good. (2/3)

And then just also, you really do get across the tragedy of the Star Wars universe even in the fics where Kanan does not have a lot of POV scenes but you can just feel the loss of the Jedi Order haunting the work. The way Kanan's been so alone and the trauma of it all... I really have loved all your Rebels works for getting across the gravity of loss that the Empire wrought. It's absolutely heart wrenching in every one. (3/3)

I meant to answer these earlier and completely forgot! I have such a soft spot for the shapeshifter AU. I really -- I don't know if "loved" or "enjoyed" is the right word -- I put a lot of effort into shaping my Rebels fic around the hole the Jedi left both in the galaxy and for their survivors, and with this specific one a lot of that had to do with Kanan's and Ezra's Jedi-ness having a physical manifestation in a way that it doesn't necessarily have in the main universe. Because Ezra just doesn't know and none of the others do either (I can't remember if this is explicitly in the text anywhere, but while it wasn't a secret that the Jedi/Force-users were shapeshifters, it was not common knowledge at all), so it's even weirder than normal Force abilities.

AND, because I want it, Oliver has some winks to Andressa's designs with the swirls on his legs mimicking the lines on hers, sharing a thinly tail, tiny little bumps like spikes, and the curls sorta kinda maybe like her antennae (if you squint and believe, which you should). Andressa and Oliver ilysm. Best purple pony on the planet tbh, sorrry not sorry Twilight Sparkle :/

Somethings you may notice is that Asha's dress is practically in ruin, and I do have an explanation for that! Her dress is like that BECAUSE she was ripping off her dress to care for some wounded people since they don't have the proper stuff to care for them, so she just rips it off to help the citizens later on. Also, she does it so that when she and Star/Aster meets up with her, he would be able to heal them with STAR MAGICCC :3

Another thing is that Star doesn't have a shadow (totally not a peter pan refrence trust-). Mainly because they are basically a celestial being and doesn't have a shadow and is constantly emitting some form of glow. He is, in a sense, pure light, just toned down.

And uhhh the flowers was a reference to my video I did of them a few months ago-

I forgot what the purple one was, but the closest one that is similar to the one I used was the Colchicum m Montanum, which is found in the Mediterranean sea, which is what the developers of Wish said it was where Rosas resided. And the yellow flower was a flower Star/Aster made, and its called a "Star Flower"...yeah really on the nose am I right? 🧍‍♂️

And someone in that video said that "In Polynesian culture a flower on the left side of your head means you’re in a relationship" and It wasn't intentional at all when I made that video, so I just decided to implant that small detail here because, although they aint in a relationship yet in this picture, but they soon will be HAHAHHAHAH🗣🔥

Anyways I really gotta work on that short video before I modify the script since I came up with a unique idea for the story that contradicts everything so yeah...TO THE DRAWING BOARD AGAIN.

IM SCREAMING ABOUT THR SHAPESHIFTER JOEL AU. I can feel the hyperfixation in the wind. But look look look I have one question. Because you asked for asks.

Why was Jimmy injured, covered in blood, delirious, AND lost in the woods

Seems like he had a very very bad day.

Jimmy is actually a carpenter by trade. Though, he comes from a long line of remarkable hunters, including his two siblings, Grian and Pearl. He's always been the odd one out in the family, not because he isn't strong enough, (he's physically stronger than Grian) but because... Well, he's pretty damn squeamish. The thought of hunting makes him feel kind of sick.

He's not great with a bow, either. Clumsy with hand-to-hand combat, not any better with a sword. In short: he's not made for fighting.

What he finds he is good at, is working with his hands. Carpentry, building. He doesn't consider himself the creative type, but he's damn good at what he does.

He's happy with himself. He is.

Just... He feels like his family doesn't know how to react to him. When he gets lightheaded at the sight of blood, they usher him aside and tell him he's got to get used to it eventually once he's recovered. They're proud of his skill, he knows, but Jimmy isn't actually sure if they're proud of him or just relieved that he's being somewhat useful.

He'd tried hunting, a few times. Though they were pretty unsuccessful. One time, though, he'd managed to catch a rabbit. With a trap.

Jimmy doesn't like thinking about it.

But he'll never forget the way his father's eyes lit up at the sight, his son with a trembling, bloodied hand as he tries for a smile. He'll never forget how his siblings cheered.

(He wonders what it would take for them to look at him like that again.)

So, how'd he end up in the woods?

Eventually, Jimmy hits a breaking point.

He's tired of being the black sheep. He's tired of the hushed whispering of his relatives, the disappointment in their gaze when he sits out of a hunt. He's tired of being weak.

He packs a bag. It's almost muscle memory at this point, all those times he's helped Grian and Pearl pack for their trips. He knows what to bring, knows how to load a crossbow even though he's never actually used it on any living thing. Jimmy grits his teeth, he knows what he's doing.

He knows, rationally, that you should never do things in the heat of the moment. That's a recipe for something monumentally stupid.

Jimmy leaves a note: Out on a hunt. Don't follow me.

He heads into the woods, and he doesn't look back.

(Cue the most agonizing week or so of his entire life.)

The adrenaline wore off pretty quick. He almost died a few times, he'd gotten lost immediately, he injured his leg--!

Jimmy staggers into what looks like a clearing, his vision swaying as pain flares up his leg. He doesn't really know if it's blood loss making him all dizzy, or the fact that he looked at it earlier and it was all--

He gags, fighting his nausea.

I'm gonna die here, he thinks, everything blurring at the edges. What was I thinking?

Things get a bit hazy, here. Something about a wolf, larger than Jimmy has ever seen. (Or, more accurately, larger than anything Jimmy's ever heard of.)

Then he passed out.

Yeah! Been debating whether to outright state the twist or try and wait until the whumptober piece comes out, but yanno what I'm in a sharing mood so. yeah:

Basically, at some point during his fall in MotO, Cole and an oni who doesn't have a name yet but I've been using Eri as a placeholder... swap memories. Like, entirely. Eri wakes up in the form of Cole with all of Cole's memories and none of his own, and is thus convinced that he is Cole and not once does he question any of it. Cole wakes up convinced he's an oni serving under Omega, and is eager and ready to get back to it... as soon as he can manage to shift back into his true form and away from this weird disguise he doesn't recognize.

This, as you might imagine, is going to cause problems. The ninja don't realize that "Cole" (ericole??? coleri??? actually yeah for eri-disguised-as-cole we're gonna call him Erico, and then we'll call cole-convinced-he's-eri Coleri) isn't Cole, and Erico isn't about to realize he's not Cole either! And then while Coleri gets left behind when the oni are driven back, he also doesn't realize the obvious and thinks it's because he's a shit oni who lost the ability to shapeshift! There's gonna be a lot of imposter syndrome going around in this AU, hence why I didn't change the name 😌

so yeah tl;dr cole and a random oni swap memories and thus identities and this causes problems both for others and for themselves
