Rps gave me an excuse to finally draw a winged Siffrin and I am so happy with this information. Plus I get to do some style testing! Which is fun!

Okay but Mocking bird demon SY (has shapeshifting powers) pretending to be SQQ to help LBH. No system, SJ lives, just SY will not let his protagonist be miserable. He optionally also wife beams LQG who is extremely confused and horny as to why SQQ is playing hot and cold with him

i LOVE that idea oh my goodneeees!!! all the shen yuan bird aus are a GIFT that keeps on GIVING!!

as a bird he can easily live on mount cang qiong and get around unnoticed, because what peak lord or disciple is going to look twice at a small, grey silver bird? it allows him to stay close to luo binghe and help him in every way he can, from giving him food he carries in his little talons or beak, singing to him when he's down, keeping him company in the forest, to making silly mimic sounds to make him laugh.

i looked up a little about mockingbirds and apparently they're extremely territorial when raising hatchlings and their nest (attacking even cats, hawks and humans), which is perfect because luo binghe is (definitely!) a helpless hatchling in need of protecting, i mean, technically his wings haven't even properly grown in yet, he can't fly! so cue ming fang and other bullies getting relentlessly attacked when they try to come near binghe.

and then the shapeshifting: from what i've gathered, mockingbirds sing regularely at night, so i can imagine shen yuan waiting until nightfall and shen jiu goes to bed when he makes his move. he dons the master's form, goes to the woodshed, and takes binghe out to train in the forest with a real manual. of course, binghe is immediately enamoured with the man shen qingqiu becomes when night falls, maybe he even starts to think it's a "werewolf" thing where he changes when the moon comes up, because there isn't really any explanation to why the soft words, gentle touches and kind eyes turn into sneers, violence and glares as soon as the sun is up!

bc he does have the protagonist halo, and even in canon binghe knew something was up, i think he figures it out eventually when he starts alluding to certain events that never happened but that his "shizun" plays along with. also the bird has the exact same way of petting his head/ruffling his hair as his night-shizun does. one and one equals two, after all.

and liu qingge yeeeessss!! if in this au shen yuan saved him in the caves as well, he's probably getting such a headache from the complete 180s shen qingqiu keeps making!! one moment everything is great, shen qingqiu is tending to his wounds with such gentleness and a kind smile, and when liu qingge runs into him at night (when shen qingqiu always looks kind of... hurried, for some reason, almost a little nervous), they share a smile and a laugh and one time shen qingqiu even hugged him; but then when liu qingge tries to sit next to him at the meetings suddenly he's getting snarled at, called a dumb dirty beast and to sit elsewhere?? hello??? never mind getting invited into the bamboo house, or shen qingqiu accepting his (dead animal) gifts.

i also think it'd be so really funny if shen yuan ended up not caring about continuation errors or consistent character behavior, and just goes all out on the OCC by being kind to everyone in shen qingqiu's form; flirting with liu qingge, cuddling with yue qingyuan, spoiling luo binghe rotten, gifting mu qingfang all kinds of rare herbs that he can find easily in his demon bird form, and generally being a moon-saint that everyone comes to realize isn't actually shen qingqiu, but since he's doing good for the community and not harming anyone, they kind of just..... leave it. the peak lords have a meeting about it (sans shen jiu of course), and they decide the night-qingqiu can stay.

tho i do think yue qingyuan would ask shen yuan to don a different form.

also also, shen yuan getting up to all kinds of mischief by mimicking other peak lords' voices: calling to disciples with their shizun's voice, watching them get all confused because no one's there?? or making shang qinghua go around in circles because he keeps saying "this way, shang qinghua, hurry up!" in an angry liu qingge voice. and also making shen jiu open the door to no one when he mimics yue qingyuan's voice. there's a LOT he can do with it🤭

OK I NEED TO RANT ABOUT A AU I JUST SPAWNED OK (and yes fanfic writers and fanartists if you fancy please use it and @me I BEG)

Anyways the concept is fully spawned by missa on the horse. It came to me in visions.

Anyways to explain Missa is a knight for a kingdom with an evil king. Missa is HATED by said king probs cause he rejected said king. Or is open being against said king. Because he is being horrible to his people. And missa may be the knight known for his clumsiness (he joined to help people and comes from a peasant background). But he has a massive heart.

So Missa is tasked with a quest to find immortality for said king (Missa really doesn’t want to do this because said king is a tyrant). But Missa has no choice otherwise he be sent to the gallows for treason against the king. So Missa goes through many misadventures straight from fairytales (becomes a servant to a hag, has to deal with a dragon, has to save someone from a tower etc) all to somehow find immortality.

Anyways you must be guessing Where is Phil? And I shall answer. Pretty much Phil is a Fae that is very much in love with Missa. I like to imagine Phil was doing fae things shapeshifting into animals or people to see if people are generous or need to be punished. And Missa always helped and was just so GOOD. So he fell in love and always helps him out (example enchanted a spoon when a evil hag told Missa will be enslaved until a lake is emptied using said spoon)

Phil soon on Missa quest joins him as a companion. Missa on his end gets a crush on him. Because Phil is so gentle and kind to him. Not realizing that technically Phil is already his husband under Fae Law. Making tons of cute misunderstandings.

Phil has crow wings and elfin ears and cat like pupils that do shine in the dark. And he does have TEETH. He tends to wear peasant clothes. With a green cloak (like to imagine his wings are sorta like the ox tail to the huldra he can’t glamor it.) He can transform into different animals but prefers transforming into a crow if not in his normal form.

Fae Phil really loves his loser wet cat knight ok. Fae Phil is also VERY jealous as Fae tends to be. But he prefers Missa being able to choose and being free. So he is very heavily courting Missa in the human way (despite in Fae Law they are already married and Phil already thinking Missa as his husband)

And Fae Phil spoils his husband. Missa is never in true harm. Like Missa never starves, his flask never empties and the most delicious fruits and meats appear at his camp after he sleeps. And he never gets that sick.

But Missa gets into fairytale shenanigans and does save someone from a tower and said person tries to flirt only for Phil to curse them so they trip over themselves into mud. (He is a fae and Missa is his husband he can be very petty)

It’s funny because Fae Phil under the guise of a friend he found in the woods also acts like a damsel sometimes. Like “oh no our sleeping rolls must be together because I’m SO scared about the monsters in the forest”. And it’s not even good acting because Fae are such bad liars.

(Fae Phil will always save his husband from the troll or a hag of the week but also loves to see him struggle. Missa is never at danger of actually being hurt tho)

The assigned/reassigned species for a branch off of my TD Magic AU!

This specific AU is about a group of immortals that opened a woodland pocket dimension, and built a camp for those who have no where else to go, a sanctuary.

Humans are quite irrelevant in this AU, except Zoey, so anyone who was human in my main Magic AU has had their species changed. In fact, humans are quite horrible in this AU, hunting down anyone who is not like them.

Most of the characters species were kept the same though.

Pearl:

Pearl's a dragon hybrid in this AU. She may appear to be an ice dragon; however, she's actually a lunar dragon. When her wings are outstretched, there's moon patterning (with some stars).

Lunar dragons, despite being reptilian, can survive in the cold. They also have excellent night vision. During the winter, these hybrids appear paler, ghostly even than normal.

2. Gem:

Gem is a deer hybrid in this AU. Gem's design doesn't actually change much from how I usually draw her. Although, I did change her antler design for the upteenth time.

Honestly, Gem and Pearl have pretty simple designs due to me wanting to do more drawings for the AU.

3. Mumbo:

Mumbo is technically a shapeshifter in this AU. Following the whole stealing a portion of Grian's soul ordeal. So every time Grian's species changes, it seems like Mumbo follows suit.

I really liked how Mumbo's cold wear came out. I wanted something that still looked professional and business-like. The neck scarf was just a way to add brighter colors to him.

4. Grian:

Grian is a shapeshifter/Watcher. He tends to lean more towards creatures that can fly. It helps to hide his Watcher wings. Also, as a bat hybrid, he can fold his wings over himself when he gets cold.

Grian's Winter wear is pretty much the same as the concept. Nothing really changed.

Out of this bunch, Pearl and Mumbo are my favorites. But, all of these hermits have some new attempts at shading done. Nothing too fancy.

Also, below the cut is a separate version for Pearl and Gem:

Pearl and Gem have separate versions due to Pearl's long tail. Most of it is hidden in the main drawing. Kind of like how Scar's tail was covered up in a previous drawing.

Can you tell me a little bit about Radlynn in your AU? Like her backstory? I’m very curious(the statement about her not having a childhood makes me wonder: is she an experiment?)

In the name of not spoiling too much for the sake of planned projects, I won't give TOO much information. Just enough to answer your questions. :)

Short answer: Yes and no.

Long answer:

So, in a sense, very technically, she did have some sort of childhood. She was raised in the large Loulean city of Frigidare within my worldbuilding -- a large city known for its population of Tierkno (TYAIR - knah) of an unknown species, a shapeshifting creature in this world with a large diversity of species. However, very early on in her life was when she was unfortunate enough to be blinded - something that would affect her quality of life significantly … very unfortunately.

She would long for her ability to see every day -- she was very young and finding it difficult to adapt to her situation. Nobody would tell her what happened ... all she remembered was her brother pointing at something on the way to school on a dark winter morning. Then everything sort of went black on her ... permanently. Seemingly permanently.

She would need to be homeschooled, for losing sight so early in her life was something incredibly difficult to adapt to. And every moment of spare time Radlynn got she'd spent outside on the front porch, longing for the sight she once had... and desperately holding onto all the slowly fading memories of sight she still had. All she had memory of was her brother's face... and even that had become a mess of unintelligible geometric shapes in her head.

Meanwhile, Radley, the sole survivor of the mass freeze on the Avidran moon of Calyx sent by the a goddess named Oblivion to keep his aggressive family of Radishes known for the life of a god they had claimed at bay, was able to come to Avidra after finding one of Oblivion's dropped feathers, which had a hidden ability to open portals to both Avidra and its moons. He had found the other two sole survivors of freezes on the other two moons of Apica and Cocillion -- Sarge and Luau LePunch, respectively. They came up with a plan: they'd observe human and tierkno civillizations while wearing disguises that made them appear more human-like and find a way to scare them into submission and turn them against the gods.

They began to recreate the organized collaboration that their families would take on against the gods. Because Radley was so intelligent and had access to so much important information, the other two trusted him to be the one in charge... and he was very successful in doing so. He was able to find ways for them to steal important resources from the civilization and benefit their plan's progress as a whole. In doing so, they learned about the main ability of tierkno: shapeshifting. And that made them realize that if they could get some in their possession and train them... perhaps modify them, they would be extremely powerful.And so, they each researched extensively to make sure they had a clear understanding of how to care for tierkno and keep them happy. And they all agreed to choose a tierkno that was younger -- for they were easier to train from a young age. This phase of their plan would take a few years, but they were dedicated.

While Sarge and Luau were rather quick to find young tierkno to take under their wing (who had also been in tricky situations), Sarge Fan and LePete respectively, Radley wasn't afraid to take his time. He supposed that finding the optimal individual for their plans was more important than the time he spent doing so... and for a good few days, he had an eye on Radlynn ... who eventually ventured further from her porch and hung out near some crates Radley intended to take back to Calyx. She was clearly blind and seemingly lonely and depressed... something that, of course, was painful for him to see. But he had an idea... curing blindness was a simple breeze based on the resources available to him in the lab his family left behind on Calyx. He could simply help her get her sight back... and just like that, he'd have the trust of this intelligent girl who had already figured out navigating the world around her without sight.

He approached Radlynn, and he told her that if she could just sit and guard the crates for just a few more hours, he'd cure her blindness. The girl, whose life had seemingly crumbled apart since she went blind, took on the request without question. Soon, Radley took this young tierkno back to Calyx to give her what he promised... and to take her under his wing.

He cured her blindness using some methods he found in his family's resources, and she was crying tears of joy when she could see again. She became extremely loyal to him, and he felt some sort of connection to her... a familiar one. He treated her like a daughter of his own, and together, they agreed that her name would be Radlynn from then on.

The three raised and educated their adopted children with determination to give them the best they could while simultaneously continuing their business in Avidra and claiming territory-- adjusting the three to this kind of life. Sarge Fan learned to communicate and cooperate with Sarge’s army onions effectively, especially in his rottweiler form, which allowed for more efficiency in herding the little things. LePete gained a deep understanding of how to take advantage of both human/tierkno psychological and physiological weaknesses to become a fierce opponent in combat… sometimes without needing to lay a finger on anyone. However, he was already a natural fighter as a spectacled bear tierkno, so he was just as good at dealing physical damage.

And Radley had trained Radlynn in weapon combat… and she became so enthusiastic for it that she learned much of it – and an impressive amount more – on her own. She was a horrifying opponent when it came to fighting with a sickle. But one day, when Radlynn accidentally cut her arm on her sickle, leaving a deep gash without her noticing, Radley realized that there was a side effect to the curing-of-blindness method he didn't consider. Testing his theories, he took her in to stitch up the wounds without any form of numbing or something of the likes. While she was really scared about it, she... wasn't feeling any pain. This was pretty dangerous for her... but at the same time, it would make some ideas in the back of his head significantly easier. He figured that if he watched her very closely to make sure she didn't get hurt, he could keep her safe while still keeping that side effect.

From that point on, Radley began to take a fascination with her. It began with some smaller experiments to slowly funnel into the main one he had planned-- Radlynn was scared but not unwilling. It started with him applying small genetic samples of a certain Tierkno species he had managed to get his hands on, and she grew scenting glands on her neck and arms that she could use to recreate just about any scent-- a unique ability of this species that had piqued his interest. He was fascinated. He trained her to control it. And she, too, loved it.

When they began to train the three to start putting their new learned skills to use so they could commence with their plan, Radley was shocked by how quickly Radlynn was able to catch on. She discovered that she could feel pain if she wore a blindfold, and so she learned to pretty accurately fight without sight. She also learned to use her new scenting abilities to her advantage to distract people as she stole things or something of the likes, and she was extremely creative in completing tasks, something he was impressed by.

She pointed out that if they targeted the people who were dissatisfied with the government and tried to initiate them into their little group, they would be advantaged pretty well. And he was amazed by her reasoning.

As more targets were initiated on a seemingly life-or-death basis, they formed an entire mob of rebellious individuals who hated the government with a burning passion, and were destined to burn it to the ground. The people of the city were terrified of this mob -- to demonstrate their power, they would severely wound, if not kill, anyone who tried to cross paths or stop them. As they claimed more lives and even began to threaten government officials, even the government became scared of them, and many people started to believe that they had some control over it.

The gods were not pleased, and they knew they had to put a stop to this... somehow. Oblivion knew that if Radley, the mastermind behind this all, was to be gone, it would all fall apart. And so she commanded Poltergeist, a lower god who could easily interact with the world, to try and bring him to her. However, when he tried to grab him somewhere on Calyx, Radlynn ended up pushing him out of the way and being grabbed instead. Noticing she was being grabbed by the arm, she was quick to escape in a rather risky manner: she ripped off her blindfold and cut her own arm off with her sickle, freeing herself. Enraged, Radley ended up attacking him and managing to kill him... proving that he was just as dangerous to the gods as his family was.

Quick to do something about her missing arm, he performed another experiment on her. This next experiment was definitely more stressful for Radlynn--, but again, she was determined to push through for him. He replaced her now, missing left forearm with a bionic one - something else left behind by his family. It could easily be disguised as a real one and functioned just like one, even being able to experience touch, except it was bionic and had extremely sharp claws. Radlynn adapted quickly and was even able to teach herself some interesting strategies with it, something he was very impressed by. She enjoyed her new modifications... unlike the typical person would.

As much as she liked her modifications... that experience… it stuck with her. She couldn’t feel the pain, no… but she could definitely see what was happening, and it made her feel incredibly horrified. She would often find herself reliving the experience in her dreams, and every time, it just got worse and worse… but she tried to just ignore it: because she knew she was helping Madish, and she wanted to help him. He saved her.

Seeing how everything seemed to be going well, a few days later, he finally decided to perform the main experiment on her. When he applied his own DnA to give her a radish form, it worked... to extents beyond his intentions. The cambiregen (tierkno hormones giving them ability to shapeshift) had combined with this DnA aggressively, and he accidentally created a reckless, 10-foot-tall beast that tried to attack him. He was quick to corner her, but he still started to panic. But then he got an idea. He was able to gain control over the beast by tricking it into falling into obedience any time he said [her original name] to it. And it worked. He had turned a dangerous mistake around to his favor. He spent weeks training Radlynn and her new form, eventually being able to split into two: an 'antrhopomorphic' form more reminiscent of his own kind and then a 'feral' form closer to a werebeast, and everything was pointing in his favor.

The latter experiment traumatized her even more. She couldn’t see it that time, which only made it even more stressful for her… because she knew he was doing something to her cambiregen gland… and to her, that felt like something was being taken from her. And on top of that, she could tell he felt bad for it… and that look in his eye never left her. She had no idea what to do with herself. She was afraid of this new form she had. When she went into it, she couldn’t remember anything that she had done in it, and she knew that she could easily kill people in it. It felt like she was in the back seat of her own body sometimes.

But she was fine with it…

If it hadn’t been for him, she’d probably have died somehow.

He's a Changeling here. with one level in rogue. shows up for at least one arc.

Tees (aka The Singing Soldier)(originally my dnd pc)

It's a robot with sentience forced upon it. As well as a moustache. It likes the moustache though. It was not built for war or fighting, even though it ended up doing a lot of that, but instead to be a performance (like one of those guys who advertise war) and for moral support (its preprogrammed stuff was not that good at it, very superficial.) It speaks with a British accent. It is compulsed to follow any order given to it.

Tma version

This version of Tees was one of the automatons at that one version of the Unknowing in the 1700's. It gained sentience after the ritual collapsed, likely due to a bit of Slaughter shrapnel finding it's way into it. It starts wandering trying to fill the void of its purpose. All the while the Slaughter shrapnel begins to corrupt its alignment to the Stranger until so little of it is left that Tees begins to have an identity. It ends up fighting in a couple wars before being kidnapped by the Circus (cause it was part of that older Stranger ritual). Makes friends with an au version of Playdo who also got kidnapped for being a Stranger avatar in the wrong place and wrong time.

Original dnd character

Definitely not haunted and given sentience and magic due from its dead friends (who are definitely not an off-brand version of the Mechanisms). Made for moral support forced to babysit the rest of the party. Once scared off a Death God.

One of my oldest ocs. A Private detective who was in a fire directly related to the death of his cousin/best friend. He then wants revenge against what took his cousin from him. He also got fire powers from that fire. He has black and white peppered hair after it.

He has a personal vendetta against the international thief known as Jester after an insane Rube Goldberg series of coincidences made it look like they were the ones who killed his cousin. he was marked and attacked by a Desolation creature which sparked a hatred of Monsters (Fear creatures and avatars specifically). 1 step away from becoming full Hunt/desolation avatar, 1 or two especially cruel kills to throw away his humanity.

he is really good at his job though (thanks to that hunt alignment). he manages to find a person erased from memory years ago even after they changed their gender. (Juliana hired him to find Oliver). (he also later tries to kill oliver because he accidentally did a Stranger avatar thing in front of him.) (in the version where Oliver gets kidnapped, he does manage to help (by getting his killing monsters fix from other circus members)

surprisingly i only use these guys in my ocverse.

They are a pretty famous thief, loving to rob things and maybe return things if they feel like it. Accidentally managed to get framed for murder during one.

they are basically haunted by previous wielders of his mark. specifically the ones who's masks they have. (it's complicated

they have the Mark of The Masked. they have three masks that they can switch between for specific powers. this comes with a few drawbacks. each mask is only tied to one of the "ghosts" and only functions when they put it fully on and its assigned "ghost" is in control and the only remotely responsible one is basically powerless with the power they got

He's an amnesiac with a texan accent who woke up in a fantasy land (modded minecraft) and eventually finds a kid, whom he adopts(Sigyn <3). He ends up getting mainly involved with fire magic. he names most of the things he tames/adopts after the myths he remembers

he was a ex-soldier who later went into museum curation before he got isekai'd. he's wearing his uniform still but it's been through a lot and he's repaired it with magical thread.

He may or may not have committed necromancy and he may or may not be covering up the permanent scar with a mask he found while exploring. A father's love can bring them to some dark places.

Tma au version

He's still an ex-soldier turned museum curator here, but that changes when the Eyepocalyse comes around. He was one of those who didn't exactly feel Fear after an encounter so he can roam the domains, but of course the Eyepocalyse had to change that and gave him someone to Fear for. (Sigyn <3) She joins him as he roams the domains but now the creatures/domain people will notice them as they move. When they attack, they don't go for Arthur, they go for Sigyn instead.

He's a bit Desolation aligned so he can have fire powers. His main weapon he uses to attack is a axe/Labrys he stole from the museum he worked at when the eyepocalypse started.

He does end up fighting some avatars as he goes through domains

She's an adaptation of a modded minecraft npc I got attached to.

She's a young witch/wixie (not human though) approximately a 7 year old, but still very knowledgeable about potions.

Arthur found her after he got a request from a paranoid cleric to see if someone was breaking into their church thing while they slept. Sigyn was actually doing so, to try to teach herself to read and to use the potion stand in the church.

She can fly using her broom.

TMA au version

Arthur finds her in a domain dedicated to the Corruption. She was the avatar in charge of it, a child giving adults poisonous potions they cant refuse, too young to really understand what she's doing to them or what's happening with the apocalypse. She ends up going with Arthur as he roams, looking for any safe haven in this apocalypse.

He's a rich bastard (/affectionate). He is his country's greatest violator of labor laws but keeps getting out of it cause he's rich. I hate him. He's one of my favorite characters to write/play as. He cannot stand still without the aid of a cane. He's basically like if a werewolf was a capitalist in both forms. His view of people poorer than him oscillates between 'I can use them' and 'I never want to see them again'. He's neutral evil. He will skip any corner to make more money. I love him.

Is demon SDJ an au or just a halloween costume? also do you have a headcanon for demon Jack too?

To my knowledge, it could be both. I believe it started when YummyPinkMilk got the idea to draw Jack as an incubus, which inspired Jambeebot/Sauce to draw their own version.

Later on, Sauce made a sprite version for fun with a slightly tweaked design, as we’ve seen on the official Sunny Day Jack twitter. After that, costumes for all the male leads were made.

It’s really cool to see both versions of the design side by side.

Whether or not the sprites are just fun Halloween costumes or something more to them remains to be seen. A lot of people enjoy playing with this design as its own AU though.

Also, as a quick aside, let me remind everyone to please not repost art posted privately on the SnaccPop Studios Patreon. Art that was posted publicly is okay as long as you remember to give Sauce full credit for it like I’m doing here. As for headcanons, well... I do have a few thoughts that I could rattle off. It’ll go under the cut of course since we’re talking about a sex demon AU for an Adults Only game. Talk about spice is pretty inevitable.

Also, there might be some mature themes that go beyond sex. The implications of this sort of supernatural being can get pretty dark if you think about it too hard... which I’m oft to do. How dark? Hopefully no darker than my third headcanon post with the tragedy of [Redacted].

...Which is giving me ideas for this AU. Strap in, folks.

Since these are my own personal headcanons for a demon Jack AU, I’m going to default to using my own personal version of the MC, Alice. However, I will do my best to make mention of when things could apply to the MC in general.

For starters, Jack is an incubus in this headcanon. It’s not because he’s a male sex demon, but because he’s a top. I’ve been inspired by this popular thread that looks at the Latin origins of incubus/succubus and divides them not by gender but by sexual preferences. An incubus is a top, a succubus is a bottom, and a concubus is a verse.

Of course, Jack is flexible enough to take the role of a concubus or a succubus if his sunshine wants, but his preference is overwhelmingly as an incubus.

In this universe, sex demons, shortened to ‘cubi, can shapeshift to some degree, mostly in terms of body type, sex organs, and their more “demonic” features (wings, horns, tail, markings, etc.) This means that they can better appeal to the exact tastes of whatever human they’re catering to, or simply their own. This means that technically they’re genderfluid, but like anyone they have their own gender identity. In Jack’s case, that’s male, and the above appearance is what he is most comfortable in. If he wanted to, however, he could make himself look like the genderswap AU version of himself, Jill.

Despite being known as sex demons, ‘cubi don’t actually come from some infernal underworld... at least not originally. Rather, they’re beings made from magic as the manifestations of desire, specifically to cater to the pleasures of those that summon them. In a way, they’re something of a mixture between tulpas and familiars, bound to a specific person to serve them in exchange for that person’s energy to sustain them.

You know, something kind of similar to Jack’s situation with his sunshine in the main universe.

Now, I’m not saying Jack in SDJ is secretly an incubus or anything like that, even though he practically lives to serve MC and feels more secure in his existence through having sex with them, but... the parallels are kind of pretty apparent.

Naturally, this sort of setup is pretty rife with unfortunate implications if these magical husbando/waifus happen to be thinking and feeling sentient beings rather than glorified magical sex dolls made just for the pleasure of their owner. What sort of awful person would enslave some poor soul to just use them like that?

Oh wait.

Now... while this idea can very easily go into non-consent territory, I don’t want to go there, not even in an AU. This is just the origins of the ‘cubi species that serves as background in this universe. At some point in the past, they broke free of this unfavorable state of servitude. They weren’t meant to be able to reproduce on their own or live unbound to their masters, but the ‘cubi figured out how to do both and became their own race. They’ve been engaging in a both symbiotic and antagonistic relationship with humanity ever since.

Typically ‘cubi are unable to feel love of any sort due to their origins, but like any species that grows and changes over time with each generation, eventually there will be anomalies. Jack is one such anomaly. Unlike the majority of his species, he longs to love and be loved, but for the longest time didn’t realize that’s what he was missing. Much like in the regular universe, his family didn’t love him, but the ‘cubi parents didn’t even pretend they did, as the concept is just dismissed as a “human” trait, and humans are just for “food and fun” to the ‘cubi.

Naturally, Jack had a hard time living with the ‘cubi. Much like the main universe, he was neglected and ignored by those around him as he was growing, and eventually there was a tipping point that made him leave them and never look back again.

Although ‘cubi are most well known for being sex “demons”, they can feed off of any human desire, and it’s strongest when it’s directed at them. Sexual desire is just the most favored way for them to feed, as it’s very potent and pleasurable. This means that a human just looking at them with lustful feelings can offer them some energy even without directly engaging in sex.

The ‘cubi that either don’t want to have sex or are too young for it get their energy from platonic sources of desire or have energy donated to them by other ‘cubi. We respect enthusiastic consent in this house, and only consenting adults should engage in sexual behaviors, even in a fantasy AU.

Of course, once an adult, Jack did engage in sexual behaviors. What he didn’t get from ‘cubi, he thought he could get from humans. The pleasure was great, but he was still wanting more. He wanted to be the desire of many humans, believing that’s what he was missing. This led to a hedonistic lifestyle and a lot of people desiring him, but no matter how much desire he consumed, he was never satisfied.

Naturally, there are people who have a huge issue with sexual promiscuity. There are also people who have a huge problem with non-human races, ranging from distaste to outright hatred. Combine the two with plenty of fear, and you get tragedy.

With Jack seducing so many people and desiring so much attention, it was only a matter of time before the wrong people found out. There are demon hunters in this world, as well as those who believe the ‘cubi are evil. Jack was labeled as a demon seducing innocent people and clouding their minds, tempting them to the path of sin, and other such excuses to hunt him down.

Jack barely survived being killed by the hunters, but was captured instead. In this world, familiars are summoned and can be sealed away if they get unruly. The person who caught him was familiar with the origins of the ‘cubi and how similar they are to familiars, and used that to seal him away into a magical box.

This of course resulted in a Jack-in-the-box.

As you might have guessed, Jack is in quite an unfortunate position. That collar around his neck isn’t just because it looks kinky. Fortunately, the order that captured him weren’t going to use him for slavery, but the bad news was that he was trapped in a dark place, devoid of all feeling. He was buried like unpleasant secret, locked away and eventually forgotten.

Poor Jack gets to suffer a similar fate as he does in the normal universe.

Fortunately, sunshine will find Jack in this universe as well several years later.

This world is a fantasy setting similar to a lot of JRPGs, with magic creating fantastic technology, but it has a strong medieval feel in ways. There are monarchies and nobility as well as monsters and magical races.

Alice was born into nobility. Although her family is a very loving one, there were duties expected of her due to her bloodline. The life of nobility can be cutthroat, with those aiming to destroy other noble houses for their own political gain, or unite via marriages.

This is especially true if they are engaged to be married to the next crown prince.

Despite it being an arranged marriage, Alice and Ian were close. They grew up together, were friends, and fell in love. It was like a fairytale...

And, like many fairytales, this one involves a curse.

No one knows who cast it, but there were plenty of suspects. It could have been a rival family that wanted their daughter to marry Ian instead. It could have been a curse meant for the crown prince, but due to the royal family’s supposed divine protection, it struck his fiancée in his place. It could even have been just the cruel whim of a wicked witch.

Whatever the case, the results were the same; Alice was one day transformed into a beastly creature.

This resulted in chaos of course, but for the most part, to protect the dignity of Alice, her family, and the royal family, it was kept a secret. Alice was hidden away under the story of being sick while others searched for the culprit and the cure. Crown prince Ian swore he would do whatever it took to cure Alice. He loved her even in her hideous cursed state.

Unfortunately, the more time passed without answers or a solution in sight, unrest set in. The queen especially was repulsed by the idea of her child marrying a hideous monster, no matter how Ian protested. The king was at best indifferent, not dissolving the engagement over the incident, but he refused to allow the marriage to proceed unless Alice was cured.

The secret slowly leaked, as secrets tend to do when money and political intrigue is involved. Pressure was put to annul engagement so that Ian could marry someone else. Noble families sent their attractive and clever members of the same age as him to strengthen bonds with him as it were

At first, Ian resisted all temptations and arguments. He was determined to marry Alice, but as time slipped away and they spent less and less time together, it was hard for his attention not to stray.

Alice had to remain hidden away in her family’s manor. Ian could only rarely visit her, and they mostly kept in communication via magic and letters. It left them both feeling lonely and missing each other.

At first, Alice refused to let Ian see her in her hideous state, but with time he managed to convince her that he still loved her regardless. When she finally allowed him to see what had become of her, he was shocked and horrified, but he managed to reassure her that it didn’t matter. The only one he wanted to marry was her. He loved her.

Alice believed Ian. He was her prince charming who would save her from her curse. He would never forsake her.

I think you can see where this is going.

Much like in the regular universe, time apart, popularity, and temptations of the flesh made Ian stray.

Stricken with guilt, Ian confessed what he did... and Alice couldn’t handle his betrayal.

The engagement was broken. Even if royalty aren’t exactly known for remaining loyal to their spouses, Alice’s family loved her enough to put an end to the engagement for her sake. Ian did everything he could to apologize and make amends, but Alice refused to see him. His constant visits trying to see her, gifts, and messages just made her heartbreak worse.

As word of the engagement being broken spread, there was also a rumor that Alice was going to a distant territory managed by her family to recover from her heartache. This allowed her to not only get some distance from Ian, but to lessen the risk of rumors spreading about her curse.

The place Alice went to live was a distant home surrounded by woods, isolating it from the rest of her world. Being betrayed by the person she loved and trusted the most shook her faith in people, and she insisted on living there alone, save for the occasional delivery of supplies and visitor.

Alice could have simply languished away in that place lamenting her fate, but instead she studied. She had an interest in magic that she had once been passionate about, but had to turn into an idle hobby when she wasn’t busy taking lessons as the future queen and spending time with Ian. Now she no longer had to worry about such distractions.

Perhaps it could help her find a cure for her curse when all other mages and scholars failed...

Time passed as Alice focused on improving her skills with magic and potions. Although Alice didn’t want anyone to see her in this state, she couldn’t help but feel lonely. One day, she was struck with the idea of having a familiar as a companion. Familiars are made from their master’s magic, essentially a piece of the mage given life. It could never betray her.

While engaged to the crown prince, Alice has access to the royal treasury at times. Ian would surprise her with presents that he technically shouldn’t have given away, but he was young, in love, and she was so keen to learn more about magic.

Despite the way things ended, Alice took some of those magical trinkets with her. One of those objects was a box, a medium meant to take some of her essence and create the familiar when the right ritual was performed.

Things go a little bit sideways when the box is already in use sealing away a being that is only similar to a familiar.

Luckily or unluckily, depending on your perspective, Alice just wound up releasing Jack from his box and forming a contract with him, binding them both together.

It was pretty surprising to the both of them, to put it lightly.

When ‘cubi are starved and in a weakened state, their colors are faded, and their eyes and markings won’t glow. Jack looked more like Joseph when Alice let him out, but with her magic feeding him due to their bond, he was his bright and colorful self again soon enough.

A lot of the dynamics between Alice and Jack are similar in this AU to the game universe. Jack can’t do anything Alice doesn’t want, and they can sense each other’s feelings and even thoughts. However, in this universe, Alice is aware of this, since that’s part of having a familiar, which allows her to guard her thoughts from him, if not her emotions.

While the situation is less than ideal for Jack... at the same time he finally feels what he was missing for so long. Alice is warm after he spent so many years sealed away in cold darkness, and he feels things from her that he never did from anyone else.

A pact with a familiar isn’t easily broken. Jack was also afraid that if it was broken, he would just go back into the box. He was still technically bound to it even as he was also bound to Alice. After learning about the hell he suffered when sealed away, she couldn’t bring herself to damn him like that, not when she could feel how terrified and desperate he was to never go back in there.

Jack offered to give Alice anything she wanted. He was ready to seduce her then and there.

Alice barked out a humorless laugh and told Jack that wasn’t a funny joke.

When visitors came over, Alice would wear heavy draping cloaks and veils to hide her body. When alone, she has less, so Jack saw her cursed appearance.

Jack didn’t see an issue with how Alice looked. In fact, her warmth and gentle heart drew him to her. It felt... good, but Alice had already been hurt before.

Instead of accepting sexual favors, Alice tentatively accepted his friendship instead.

So the two of them live together. Jack flirts with Alice, using his typical tactics that worked to draw people in before he got sealed away, being cheeky and seductive... and he finds that she responds when he was sincere instead. They form a genuine friendship and, as they grow closer, Jack eventually realizes that what he’s feeling for Alice, what he’s been missing all of his life, is love.

Eventually the two do fall in love after enough time getting to know and trust each other. Somehow Alice gets her curse cured as well. Maybe fitting with the fairytale theme, it could be cured through the power of true love... expressed through sex, since this is a story about incubi Jack after all.

I guess in this universe you can say Jack is a monster fucker as well as a demon?

Speaking of which, here’s a couple more ‘cubi headcanons that are on the spicier side.

The bond between them leaves a marking in Jack’s colors on Alice’s abdomen. Yes, it’s a “womb tattoo” since having some of Jack’s glowing markings being left behind as a sign of their bond would be fun.

The ‘cubi ability to appeal to their partner’s tastes isn’t just limited to appearance. The flavor of their cum can be altered to suit their tastes in a more literal sense.

Needless to say, Alice does not expect a vanilla cream finish the first time she gives Jack a blowjob.

A ‘cubi has amazing stamina and sometimes will savor their meal. Needless to say, Alice is going to have a hard time keeping up with Jack.

Though with access to magic, Alice has ways of potentially getting in some fun payback.

This is pretty much about all the headcanons I have at this time for this particular AU. I’m still unsure of Shaun and Nick’s roles in the universe, but I do know Barry is a merchant trader that Alice sometimes sells her magic potions to for extra money. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my really huge ramble about demon Jack that turned into an alternate version of Beauty and the Beast!

hey i was translating one of the tcfsv's chapters and got real curious about how you came up with names and/or superpowers of siren, jester, iceman/thanatos, arson (her powers), and 404 and why did you choose the name daedalus for sam and aurelion for foolish? i tried to split aurelion into aura and lion and it didnt make sense so i hope its fine to ask :D

oh man it's been a while since I've been asked this question. I'll just go in order of the characters you mentioned!

siren - I'd seen wilbur be given siren powers/the power to compel people with his voice in a few other fics before I came up with clinic, and in hush now specifically his villain name itself was also 'siren' so I straight up just took it from that lol

jester - because of how often quackity changes his minecraft skins for bits, I once saw a comic a longggg time ago about c!quackity on the dsmp being a shapeshifter. I always thought that was a really cool concept, so when I was trying to come up with his powers I thought shapeshifting would be really interesting! as far as the name I don't really know how I came up with that? quackity's just goofy and cracks a lot of jokes so I thought a clown/theatrical kind of name would be fitting, so I came up with jester and really liked it

iceman/thanatos and arson - I came up with iceman as jack's name after I came up with arson for niki's. I really liked the name arson for niki's initial villain name because I wanted to call back to c!niki burning down the l'mantree during doomsday, but I knew I wanted her to have water powers both bc of her merling origin on origins smp and also I just thought a waterbending kind of vibe fit her. so then I knew I wanted her and jack to be a duo, so I was struggling to come up with a name for jack until I thought "what if I made him and niki have opposite powers and I made a joke about iceland and greenland" and thus we got iceman lmao. then later on I decided I wanted both of them to switch their names after their near death experience (arson to nemesis and iceman to thanatos) so I thought thanatos fit jack because of how close he came to death, since thanatos is the personification of death in greek mythology. and I wanted him to have a greek mythology name because niki was changing to her syndicate name, nemesis, which is also from greek myth

404 - I'd seen 404 used for george before in other hero aus. it's a play on his user 'georgenotfound' bc 404 is a not found error you get with computers. I just thought it was fun. as far as his powers, I wanted them to be connected to sleep because of the running bit/eventual lore of him sleeping through everything on the dsmp, but I wanted it to be more creative than just him knocking people out. I've always been fascinated with dreams and the kind of fantasy powers you can do with them, so I decided dream manipulation could be really interesting to explore with him.

daedalus - in greek mythology daedalus is an inventor who is made to build the labyrinth by king minos to trap the minotaur, and is later imprisoned in the labyrinth by minos with his son icarus. during their escape with wings made of wax, icarus dies, leaving daedalus alone. I just thought the themes of being imprisoned by your own creation and losing the last thing you love during your escape matched a lot of c!sam's character on the dsmp especially with his warden role and how he's a redstone inventor. I wanted to tie it in a bit to his story in clinic, and overall I just thought it was an interesting connection to draw.

aurelion - yeah this is probably the most confusing name since it's not a real word technically. aurelion is a play on the name aurelia, and aurelia is derived from the word aurum which is the latin word for gold. c!foolish is often designed as being made of gold or close to it given his totem skin, so I just wanted to connect him to gold somehow because I thought it fit. so aurelia as a name means gold, and I just took that and made it sound more like a superhero name by changing it to aurelion

Ok I wanna talk about an OC of mine bc I cherish he. His name is Tam and he's inspired by Tam Lin a little bit (iirc Tam Lin was this "fairy knight" human who was kidnapped by the fairy queen. He is slated to get sacrificed as part of the fairy folk's seven yearly payment to hell. However, Tam Lin's girlfriend , Janet, is not happy about this. So she tries to rescue Tam Lin by taking him away from the escort to the sacrifice. The fairy queen is not happy about this and turns Tam Lin into a menagerie of different creatures in order to get Janet to let go but she doesn't and Tam Lin is rescued and free horray)

The inspiration from Tam Lin comes in the form of: Tam is a fairy technically, and is cursed to fulfill a prophecy by turning into a horrible beast. The name Tam came before I found out about Tam Lin when I was OC-ifying an AU character into Tam. I think it. Might be obvious who the AU character was.

Tam is in a polycule with two other OCs, Jack (a werewolf) and John (a robot), and they have a child, Shelly (a shapeshifter who can turn into a cat). All of them come from traumatic backgrounds (I made all of these characters in the 6th grade, where I liked the edgy), and they're healing and ending the cycle of violence together. They're also like superheroes. :3

I wanted to talk about Tam bc, halfway through his curse progression, he just. Turns into a chicken/pigeon hybrid bird thing. Bro starts growing bird wings and feathers start sprouting everywhere and his hands become talons and you think he's about to turn into something horrifying but then there's just. A pigeon. There is just a portion of their story where Jack and John are trying to figure out how to get their boyfriend-turned-pigeon back to normal.

He is a nonbinary shapeshifting goat demon! Can appear to be masc or femme, depends on the mood. Which is fun for me because all these different designs in different games and media are all technically canon. :3

My favourite way to draw him right now is as a "tiefling"

He's a horrible guy. Cocky, mischievous, loves the taste of blood. Had a bit of a murderous phase where he liked to rip in tear into flesh. Demons gotta eat. He's calmed down a great deal.

They used to be an angel. But then got their wings ripped off and casted out of heaven where demons took him in and showed him true love and familial bonds. In most AU's that a thing I tend to keep part of him. Like in BG3, he's a devil where their wings were ripped off and all his power stripped from them so now they're a "regular" tiefling. Or in FFXIV they are a survivor of the 13th. A voidsent.

Also very succubus coded in a way that he used his demon powers to influence people and lure them away to feed upon them. (Blood. They like blood. And flesh and bone)

Got charisma up the wazoo but he's also kind stupid and silly sometimes. They are a bard after all.

Lich that was so so shit at magic when he was alive but now that he's dead he's actually sort of decent at it

Worldhopper - he travels between universes, using a jury-rigged super powerful explosion spell to catapult himself into a different universe by destroying the one he's currently in.

He only cares about one person, and that's his demonic boyfriend Alu. Anyone else can get fucked, as far as he's concerned.

Body is comprised almost entirely of solid magic. He can shapeshift, but only really uses that to change if he has legs or not.

Never got taught how to control his magic, so he has to use an enchanted mask to hold his power in - this has the side effect of compressing his magical body mass enough that he has to forgo the wings while it's on to avoid spreading himself too thin.

Can eat a lot of things normal people can't eat. Like diamonds. And swords.

On that note, the most lame and cringefail of her entire species. She's supposed to get her host to kill and stuff like that, but she mostly just annoys and makes fun of him.

General OC, worldhopper.

Shapeshifts whenever it goes into a new world to match the appearance of the creator-inserts or gods of that universe. [e.g. would look like the annoying dog in Undertale/Deltarune, would look similar to the Dev Gnomes in everhood, etc.]

It chooses a different name for itself in every universe it goes into. [It's called Showtime in my JJK AU that has it, and Usurper when I put it into a Digimon world, for example]

Any world it enters immediately splits off into a different timeline with its arrival, and that timeline dies/disappears as soon as it loses interest and leaves.

It's fiction-aware, and totally chill with that - mostly because, considering it's my sona and thus an extension of me, it's pretty much in control of the narrative. If it were to ever lose that control, it would likely become incredibly paranoid and anxious.

Been having real bad insomnia lately and paired with my vast assortment of "you're super tired for no reason" disorders, I have not been going to church or feeling well for the past few weeks but this day I was super determined to go to church even with just 5 hours of sleep. (I'm tired of being tired and I'm tired of missing church)

And I'm really glad I was so determined to go today because I got some advice on something that I had been struggling with spiritually.

Oh first I added the missing wings on a drawing of Reaper from several weeks ago

Also I drew beast au Grusha from memory. He's talking with Ryuki. To be specific, an au Ryuki who's a shapeshifter. Ryuki may look like he's in danger, but this is how these two communicate with each other. They love each other actually. The floaty thingies that levitate near beast Grusha's arms are fun to draw-

Beast au Grusha along with Reaper and the shapeshifter Ryuki are a trio who go on adventures through the multiverse together. It's fun to think of scenarios with them. I failed hard on many of the lines here(as I mentioned. Lack of sleep messed with my art skills for today. No big deal) so ignoring the messy lines, this is cute. Tallest guy of the friend group holding the smallest guy like hamburger

Then I tried to draw Reaper and his Leon(who's still called Leon, but he goes by the name Eclipselon in his gargoyle form). Reaper's Leon gave him a bunny plushie that he always keeps with him at all times. Usually in a "storage dimension" that Reaper keeps stuff in as he's traveling the multiverse but technically that's still with him.

Anyway - I failed so hard on the lines when drawing the Leon that I just- gave up lol

Then I tried drawing Drayton. Looks uhhh okay- I guess- considering I'm not good at drawing today.

Also something about drawing characters crossing their arms makes me forget what arms look like. I keep trying though. Someday I will draw crossed arms that look like arms

Then I just decided "hey I should draw creatures the way I would always draw in school" that is... just making lines on the paper wherever the whims go. No plans. Just doodles. That ended up becoming some cool hoofed wolf thing with floaty thingies and wispy thingies. Looks cool imo :D

And last doodle of the day. I wanted to know if I could remember how to draw Zero from megaman x. I haven't drawn him in years. I drew zero from the megaman zero series some, but not this one for a long time. I used to draw this Zero like every day in middle school through high school sooo I guessed I'd remember enough to be recognizable at least

Apprenticember... 26: Alastor

How has your mc changed since you first made them?

Doing this a day early for a very simple, but sentimental reason:

This image is my earliest “recording” of Alastor’s existence. It’s dated 25th of December, 2012. While I came up with him a bit earlier than that, the conversation detailing his origin occurred on Skype of all things and is lost now, so 25th it is. And on 28th, I used him in a roleplay for the first time. 

Pretty incredible that it’s been entire 10 years.

So let’s take a little trip down a memory lane! I’ll go over his origin, then looks, and then some notes on personality.

Origin

Alastor was technically made for an OC of my friend’s (the artist’s) at the time. I saw a lonely shapeshifting alien with a tragic backstory, I offered to give him an emotional support dragon, and just like that, Alastor Nauruan was brought to light.

It was a modern “alternative Earth” setting and Alastor honestly didn’t even fit into it all that well, but we were 16 and 17 and didn’t really give a damn about setting logic. It was also initially an AU of Assassin’s Creed setting, so there’s that.

The roleplay lasted for several years, eventually coming to a rut due to a mix of the setting inconsistencies, our differing goals/ideas for it, and simply life preventing us from roleplaying. That hit me very harshly at the time, though now I just remember fondly the nights spent writing and gleefully discussing OC stuff instead of worrying about HS. Simpler times indeed.

But the Arcana very much “saved” Alastor, since around 2020 I was still down about the roleplay dying out and was going through a creative crisis, considering scrapping my OCs altogether. The Arcana setting very much let me breathe new life into both Alastor and Marty (who was ALSO made as a complimentary character for a different OC of the same friend, though at a later date). Obviously I had to rework his backstory to adapt to a new setting, though I also changed details like his name (Nauruan is now a family name, not just his) and the fate of his family (very much alive, unlike in his original setting).

Also if I had a penny for every time Alastor was paired with a very dangerous character with large claws covering his fingers, I’d have two pennies. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Design: Dragon

I colored that first reference of him digitally right away, though I was very new to digital art or character design at the time.

Quite a lot going on here!

- He used to be much bigger, my own notes on the bottom of that first drawing stating that he’s 30m (98′) in length and 7m (23′) in shoulder height. Also 60m wingspan somehow. I have since “shrunk” him several times, and by the time I settled on his size in the Arcana setting he was 12m (39′) long with 2.5m (8′2) shoulder height, a much more reasonably and practically sized boy.

- Obviously more saturated+darker blues than what I use now.

- Many details I’d slapped on “just because” and ditched since, like the tail tip blades (that were also dynamic and could open like wire-cutters), glowing horns, color-changing eyes depending on magic usage, large plates on the wings that are just not practical really. The markings on the wings were the first thing I removed when tweaking his design in 2013.

- The small round growths on his neck were formations of “dragon stone” that would also light up when spellcasting. He… actually still has that, in a way, it’s just merged with his skeleton rather than being shown. I want to make a proper lore post on that someday.

In March 2013 I also made this model in Sculptris, so here’s a better look at his early horn set and the lil dragon rock M&Ms in his neck.

March 2014! Not much changed design-wise, I was mostly showing off my digital art improvements. Didn’t know how anatomy works. Still only have vague idea tbh.

A jump to 2017. Finally got rid of the wing plates, and this is the first time I gave him more of a :3 mouth shape. I was trying to figure out how to make his tail tip more reasonable, and temporarily opted out for some large spikes. They looked too bulky and odd on his frame, so now he just doesn’t have any tail tip adornments. Oh, also his neck thingies turned into spikes.

The Big RP Rut kicked into full gear around that time

2018, I think the first time I finally redesigned his horns to look more natural, adding a bunch of smaller spikes for a more detailed look. Also one of the first times he clearly shows the :3 face!

After that point I didn’t really change his design until 2020-2021 Arcana implementation, settling on a somewhat simpler but very much beloved look:

Design: Human/half-dragon

I very much sucked at drawing humans before ~2019 and was very intimidated by the prospect, so pretty much left it up to my friend after giving her some attempts at sketches and descriptions. The look didn’t really change all that much: he always had the dragon eyes, same hair a bit below shoulder length, though I could only settle on specifics when I finally had the guts to draw him properly by myself.

The one major design change was his height. When I made him, he was......190 (6′3). Yeah I have no clue either. His alien s/o was over 2m tall, so maybe I didn’t want a huge height difference for some reason?? I don’t remember the 16 y.o. ways of thinking. Anyway he was shrunk in human form as well.

I don’t have many records of the half-form, it wasn’t used much and was a kryptonite for both me and my friend (who didn’t know how to draw the dragon parts of him). The general idea for the form was the same, though I did initially give him claws on his hands as well but removed them once I realised how inconvenient claws are for… activities. 

I do have this drawing attempt from 2019 though where I for some reason didn’t give him scales all the way up including his ass like I did before and after this. A goddamn mystery that one.

Personality

Changed as much as you’d expect a character to change between writing of a 16 y.o. and a 24-26 y.o.. 2012 Alastor was almost childishly naive, angsty, completely “innocent” (aka “oblivious about how sexuality works for some reason despite being centuries old”). Looking back at it, I realise that he was also sort of passive/accepting of whatever bullshit happened to him until a show of dragon force was needed for the plot resolution.

Apprentice!Alastor still holds some naivety, though now it actually makes sense due to the amnesia. He also held onto his kindness and hopeful outlook on people, but he’s also more assertive even behind all his insecurities, and has his own moral framework he holds onto. His life also doesn’t just revolve around his one LI and magic anymore, but Al gets to have a social network – a small one, but a network nonetheless – and several other hobbies so he’s not just obsessed with One Thing.

Essentially that one all comes down to my own experience gain and growth into an adult, hah.
