It’s such a simple text. A simple message. Yet it was his favourite. Out of all his teammate’s messages, Sandy’s was his favourite. And Sandy didn’t just congratulate him but he made it personal. He didn’t want Shane to leave.

Expression practice with my boy Jeremy but it's just using faces that Shane Madej made in the Ghost Files blooper reel.

Did my spouse also buy a Whirly Pop solely based on Shane's manifesto on how to make the perfect batch of popcorn?
That's a WHOLE other thing guys why are we even TALKING about it.

Walkerverse Character Tier List
Hello Walker Family! I'm here announcing the beginning of the Walkerverse Character Tier List series!
I've created a list of characters from Walker and Walker: Independence to put in a tier list ranking. I will be releasing a series of polls with all these characters (including pictures and brief reminders of their roles) to determine which Tier List ranking they get. Whichever option from S to F gets the most votes will become the official ranking of that character.
Here is the criteria I used to select the characters I'm putting in the poll series:
They must have a name on the imdb page
They must have a minimum of two appearances
I have to remember them, regardless of their appearance count
Single appearances that were special/memorable will also be included (ex: Uncle Willy, Minnie Jayne)
The rankings will be as follows:
S tier: Best character in the show, love them with all my heart, they can do literally nothing wrong
A tier: Beloved blorbo, one of my favorites, I'd want to be friends with them if they were real
B tier: I like them, but I have my critiques. A good character that I mostly enjoy
C tier: Mid character, not the biggest fan of them but I won't complain when they show up
D tier: I don't like them. I have many criticisms of their actions and personality. I may even dislike whole episodes because of them
F tier: Literally the worst character in the entire show. Hate them. Much dislike. I fastforward over them on rewatches.
I currently have pictures (for the poll and the complete tierlist that I will link when it is public) for 39 of the 120+ characters I put on the list, so that's where I will be starting. I will include the full list of all the characters from both shows below the cut along with the taglist.
The first poll will go up on Monday, September 23rd! Can't wait to see what you guys think!

The rescued miners are housed in cramped temporary berths in Cargo Bay 2; the wounded Pakled is in surgery; and the other two prisoners are in the brig awaiting interrogation. Then, there's a visit to Farius High Station, a 3-way arbitration with Orion hosts, and a covert visit to the Pakled ship...before Comms are cut off, and transporter priorities have to be established...
Hearts of Wulin: Numberless Secrets: Series II (Session 10 of 11) Lowell Francis runs for Ethan Harvey, Patrick Knowles, Sherri, and Tyler Lominack In the penultimate session of our mystery, the group pushes forward to put together the pieces behind the murder of an Imperial Agent. NEW X-MEN/MEAN GIRLS PROJECT
We all know that Mean Girls is the baby mama of all high school franchises, and I used my mutant superpower to create parodies of any film franchise to come up with a New X-Men/Mean Girls film. I, of course, may not release it to the public as soon as I begin, but I wanted to share my ideas for the characters and who fits best with who. The mutant theme will, of course, stay (I can imagine that many superpowers will be abused during the hallway fight scene), and the Hellions seem like the best NXM equivalent to the Plastics. So without further ado, I give you the cast.
Laura Kinney as Cady Heron
Esme Frost as Regina George
Cessily Kincaid as Gretchen Wieners
Megan Gwynn as Karen Smith
Sofia Mantega as Janis Ian
Victor Borkowski as Damian
Julian Keller as Aaron Samuels
Roxy Washington as Kevin Gnapoor
Santo Vaccarro as Kevin Gnapoor (during the Kevin G song)
Scott Summers as Principal Duvall
Dani Moonstar as Ms. Norbury
Emma Frost as Mrs. George
Remy LeBeau as Coach Carr
Noriko Ashida as Trang Pak
Iara Dos Santos as Dawn Schweitzer
Alani Ryan as Amber D’Alessio
Everett Thomas as Shane Oman
Sarah Kinney as Cady's Mom
So yeah, that’s the cast. I’m also working on the cast for Mean Girls 2, which really involves some out-of-the-box thinking since a lot of the more knowable characters have been taken now. If anyone has any comments on the cast, let me know, and also tell me if you want the cast for Mean Mutants 2.

Rojo, blanco y sangre azul

Tumblr media

#degrass1. priv. & sel. degrassi multimuse. extremely low activity. rules & muses below cut carrd. pinterest. meme tag.
rules, subject to change.
extremely low activity. this is not my main nor my only blog, if you're looking for someone that will reply at the speed of light, you're in the wrong place.
discord is available to mutuals that ask, but i will probably not publicly share it on this blog. i don't do it often but i'm down to write there, as well.
all muses found on this blog are primarily headcanon-based and canon divergent. degrassi is an insane drama that i love so deeply but there are some things that, to me, are just unrealistic/too much. i'm currently rewatching the entire series (starting from the next generation) so i will make posts for any moments that i am divergent from.
most likely iconless, with a moderate amount of formatting. i don't mind if you do/do not use icons, or if you do/do not format!! if you need me to change anything up, let me know.
all of the graphics on this blog, unless stated otherwise, was made directly by or for me. anything else will be credited here: psd. carrd template.
i have no triggers, but if you're familiar with degrassi, you know that it is chock full of them. everything that i can think of will be tagged accordingly, but if i miss anything that you need hidden, let me know and i will tag it! i will more than likely not be writing out any heavier topics in detail, but i may mention them in headcanon/misc. posts, and in threads. again, everything will be tagged accordingly.
shipping is unlikely to be prioritized on this blog. 90% of the muses found here are underage, unless written in post-grad aus. there will be exceptions made for canon relationships and heavily plotted aus, but even in those cases, nsfw will not be present at all here.
some important notes regarding my characterizations will be listed here: emma and spinner are not married; they were and got divorced immediately after they realized what had happened, no beach wedding was had.
basic ettiquite applies. don't be weird, don't be forceful. we're all here to have fun.
mun is 21+. please do not follow if you are a minor.
*** while the origin of these muses is degrassi, i will most likely default to whatever verse your muse is from (or use a general high school verse if your muse does not have one specific fandom).
muses, subject to change, always accepting suggestions.

🎬 - For our muses to watch a scary movie together. ( @seashxnty )
— santo Merlin! Me avisa quando passar, por favooor.

Superlinguo 2020 in review
2020 felt like a year of lurching from one chaotic moment to another. Particular low-lights included attempting to teach with a toddler underfoot, and that small matter of a global pandemic. Putting together the collection of things I did and wrote this year, it all feels a bit surreal. Many of these things were written frantically in those months when daycare was open, or at 5am before the hurricane awoke.
Crash Course
One of my biggest projects for 2020 was working with Gretchen McCulloch to co-write the 16 scripts for Crash Course Linguistics, from Complexly and PBS. This series will wrap up in January. The full playlist is available on YouTube with English closed captions. The 16 episodes (and links to the accompanying Mutual Intelligibility post with additional resources):
Week 0 - Preview (MI post)
Week 1 - Introduction (MI post)
Week 2 - Morphology (MI post)
Week 3 - Morphosyntax (MI post)
Week 4 - Syntax (MI post)
Week 5 - Semantics (MI post)
Week 6 - Pragmatics (MI post)
Week 7 - Sociolinguistics (MI post)
Week 8 - Phonetics, Consonants (MI post)
Week 9 - Phonetics, Vowels (MI post)
Week 10 - Phonology (MI post)
Week 11 - Psycholinguistics (MI post)

Week 15 - Computational linguistics (MI post)
Week 16 - Writing systems (MI post)
Mutual Intelligibility
Lingthusiasm launched Mutual Intelligibility in March 2020 to help connect linguistics instructors to curated linguistics content as teaching rapidly moved online. We produced 6 Resource Guides in collaboration with Kate Whitcomb (Layman’s Linguist) and weekly 3 Links posts, mostly edited by Liz McCullough. Mutual Intelligibility resources were also created to support each of the 16 Crash Course videos.
Introduction to IPA Consonants - Resource Guide 1
Introduction to IPA Vowels - Resource Guide 2
Introduction to Morphology - Resource Guide 3
Introduction to Constituency - Resource Guide 4
Introduction to World Englishes - Resource Guide 5
Introduction to Linguistic Diversity - Resource Guide 6
See more Mutual Intelligibility posts here.

Top Superlinguo posts in 2020
It was only a few years ago that these annual blog posts would just list a bunch of things I’ve written on Superlinguo. Now it’s only one of the categories of things that I do, but I still enjoy keeping the blog going. When I look back at the year it always makes for a nice record of things that I was working on outside of academic publications, and things that I was thinking about that did not become bigger projects.
Posts about doing linguistics communication:
Vowel terminology - high/low vs open/close
3 things I learnt about PhD supervision from midwives
Practical advice for if you want to start a podcast
Communicating Research: An online self-guided slide set
Posts about linguistics books
Superlinguo linguistics books list - fiction and non-fiction
Linguistics Books for Kids - the Superlinguo list

Posts about other things, including projects:

Shadowscent Updates: The Darkest Bloom in many languages, Crown of Smoke pre-order, map and… a perfume
Authors for Fireys - I’m auctioning a conlang on Twitter to raise money for the bushfires this week!

Academic articles in 2020
The weird thing about academic publishing is that it takes a couple of years for something to go through review and publishing. On paper 2020 was an exciting year for my research, with lots of work in print. The problems with 2020 research won’t really hit until 2021-2022. Special mention to the article in Gesture, which is dated 2019, but only came out this year:
Gawne, Lauren, & Hildebrandt, Kristine A. (2020). Reported speech in earthquake narratives from six Tibeto-Burman languages. Studies in Language, 44(2), 461-499. [Open Access version][published version][blog summary]
Gawne, L., G. Roche & R. Gamble. (2020) “The bus doesn’t stop for us”: Multilingualism, attitudes and identity in songs of a Tibetic community of Nepal. Multilingua. 1-31. [Open Access version][published version][blog summary]
The year ahead
In 2021 nothing changes and everything changes: I’ll still be at La Trobe but I’m now on a permanent/ongoing contract (analogous to ‘tenure’ in the Nth American context). It’s going to take a while to really come to terms with the fact I can now plan long term projects with certainty, and no longer do I have to give over part of my brain to worrying where I’m going to end up next year, every year. I’m trying to not take on new projects, but just keep working on exciting things that are happening and think about where I want to take them.
Previous years
Previously these posts were named after the year ahead, but they were a look back at the year we just had. I’ve decided to refresh this from this year (it’s never to late to reconsider a habit!):
