how to bring less stuff into your home
don't buy if you already have something similar in function or form — for ex. i already own a pair of boots, therefore any new pair of boots, even if a different colour or a different shape, must stay in the store.
don't buy to store (unless it's on a good sale) — ex. i'm halfway through my favourite serum and already thinking of buying a new bottle, but i'll hold off until the previous one is actually empty, unless i see it in the store for much less than it usually costs. i also used to hoard notebooks and now try not to buy any more until all have been used up.
don't buy what you can reasonably rent or borrow — ex. i barely ever buy books because i can find everything i need at the library (including a ladder and a printer).
don't buy what you truly do not need — ex. did i get a rose quartz roller? yes. did i get it for a purpose? yes, to massage my sore jaw muscles. does it do what i bought it for? meh. is it nice to have? kind of. do i ever use it? not really. so was it a waste of natural resources, cheap labour and my own money? absolutely.
don't buy spontaneously — ex. i went to the store to buy a new bottle of shampoo but ended up with the rose quartz roller too. in the moment, i could easily justify the need for it and a friend even said to go for it (it wasn't expensive either!). now it sits in its box and i only remember to take it out every three months.
don't buy what is not on your shopping list — ex. i needed a new pair of black trousers, and had had them on my list for months already. i found the very best pair i could get on my budget, and going into the store i saw so many beautiful pieces, but kept telling myself i only came in for the black trousers. in the end i left the store with only what i needed, because i knew exactly what my mission there was.
don't buy what won't last — ex. i love to get myself a bouquet of eucalyptus branches every autumn and to let them dry out. i know i can keep those branches for at least a year. while i love fresh flowers too, i know they won't last long. (sometimes i get carnations though, because i know how to keep them going for a relatively long time.) same goes for sweaters: i do not buy acrylic and polyester, simply because i cannot de-pill them the way i can wool.
don't buy what other's have — ex. i've been dreaming of a rice cooker for a very long time, and especially now that many of my friends have gotten one, i can't seem to stop thinking about it. however i know my current kitchen just wouldn't have the space for it, so i stick to cooking my rice on the stove.
don't go into stores if you don't need anything and avoid aisles you don't need anything from — ex. i love this ecological store in town, it always smells earthy and pleasant and has beautiful things inside, but if i enter it without a real need for something, i know i will leave with at least a bar of ridiculously expensive chocolate i wasn't even craving. the same principle applies to online shops!
don't let social media or the people around you create new needs for you — ex. a lot of people on instagram and in my real life are knitting and i would love to do it too! i could easily justify getting all the tools and paying hundreds of euros for wool, but i know i reach for other activities in my free time and that my arms have hurt way too much when i've previously knitted, so it's not for me.
don't buy unnecessary amounts of things — ex. i recently moved to a very small studio. i've previously always had six of each type of plate, because kitchen things tend to be sold in packs of six. this time i just got three of each (three plates, three bowls, three mugs...) and it has been more than enough. i cannot even imagine having to store double the amount of stuff in my tiny kitchen!

do you have any advice on how to clean plushies of fleas? one of my cats escaped and I think she may have gotten them and spread all over my bed/stuffies :(((
i once bought a stuffed frog from a garage sale who was full of fleas! this is what i did and it worked….
1. put the stuffed animals in a garbage bag and tie it shut as tight as you can.
leave them in there for 30 full days! this should be long enough to starve any fleas. eggs that hatch during this time should die off as well.
2. hand wash them like normal with dawn dish soap and lukewarm water.
make sure to rinse them off super well! you should see the dead fleas coming off the plush!
if you can’t get this plush wet, i’d recommend vacuuming them on a low setting and then spraying them with disinfectant spray instead of washing. lysol and other similar sprays can leave a gross residue on the plush, so i’d recommend fursuit spray. you can buy some online or even make your own!
3. let the plushies air dry in front of a fan. don’t forget to occasionally rotate the plush so that they dry faster! air drying can take anywhere from 1-3 days depending on the plush and how wet they were. plushies with bean pellets will take longer to dry than ones with only stuffing!
4. after the plush is dry, comb the fur and make sure there’s no remaining fleas!
5. as a last protective measure you could spray with disinfectant spray! fursuit spray works the best, because it’s specifically made for fake fur and will NOT leave behind gross residue :)
if you can’t wait for the 30 days, you could try just washing the plush. hot water should kill fleas BUT it can damage the plushie if it has glue. sometimes hair, eyes, or noses are glued on. the hot water can melt the glue, and cause the items to fall off. so be careful.
you might be able to try washing plushies with flea killing shampoo, but i have no idea if that will leave a residue on the plush or not. if it does leave a residue, you can always soak the plush in diluted vinegar for 30 minutes. that should remove any gross residue left behind.
make sure to treat all your pets for fleas as well!! it doesn’t matter how well you clean the plushies, if your pets still have fleas they can just crawl right back on the plush!
i hope your cat is doing well! it sounds like she had an exciting little adventure! i’m really sorry about the fleas tho :(

How to Practice Sustainable Living on a Budget
Living sustainably doesn’t have to break the bank. In fact, many eco-friendly practices can save you money in the long run! Here are some practical tips for practicing sustainable living while sticking to a budget:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce: Buy only what you need to minimize waste. Avoid single-use items and opt for products with minimal packaging.
Reuse: Repurpose old containers, jars, and bags. Get creative with DIY projects to give new life to items you already own.
Recycle: Follow your local recycling guidelines. Make sure to clean and sort recyclables to reduce contamination.
Shop Second-Hand
Thrift Stores: Shop for clothing, furniture, and household items at thrift stores, garage sales, or online marketplaces. Not only do you save money, but you also give pre-loved items a new home.
Clothing Swaps: Organize clothing swaps with friends or community members to refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime.
Cook at Home
Buy in Bulk: Purchase staple foods like rice, beans, and pasta in bulk to reduce packaging waste and save money.
Meal Prep: Plan your meals to avoid food waste. Use leftovers creatively, like turning roasted veggies into soups or stir-fries.
Use Energy Efficiently
LED Bulbs: Replace incandescent bulbs with LED ones to save on electricity bills.
Unplug Devices: Turn off and unplug electronics when not in use to reduce energy consumption.
Use Natural Light: Maximize natural light during the day to reduce the need for artificial lighting.
Grow Your Own Food
Start a Garden: Even a small herb or vegetable garden can reduce your grocery bill and your carbon footprint.
Container Gardening: If you don’t have outdoor space, grow herbs and small vegetables in containers on a windowsill or balcony.
Make Your Own Cleaning Products
DIY Cleaners: Use simple ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and lemon to make effective and eco-friendly cleaning solutions.
Reusable Cloths: Replace paper towels with washable cloths to reduce waste and save money.
Conserve Water
Fix Leaks: A dripping faucet can waste a significant amount of water over time. Fix leaks promptly to conserve water and lower your water bill.
Shorter Showers: Cut down on shower time to save water. Consider using a water-saving showerhead.
Opt for Public Transport or Carpooling
Public Transport: Use public transportation to reduce fuel costs and decrease your carbon footprint.
Carpool: Share rides with friends or coworkers to save money on gas and reduce emissions.
Use Reusable Items
Reusable Bags: Bring your own bags when shopping to reduce plastic waste.
Reusable Bottles and Containers: Invest in a reusable water bottle and food containers to minimize single-use plastics.
DIY Personal Care Products
Natural Ingredients: Make your own personal care products like shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant using natural ingredients.
Zero-Waste: Look for zero-waste options, such as bar soap, shampoo bars, and bamboo toothbrushes, which are often more economical in the long run.
Practicing sustainable living doesn’t have to be expensive. By making small, mindful changes in your daily habits, you can contribute to a healthier planet and save money at the same time. Remember, every little step counts, and collectively, these efforts can make a big impact! Start with one or two changes, and gradually incorporate more sustainable practices into your lifestyle. You’ll not only be helping the environment but also creating a more cost-effective and conscious way of living.

Hairless Cats for Sale: What You Need to Know
Hairless cats, often recognized for their striking appearance and unique personalities, have become increasingly popular among pet enthusiasts. These cats, most famously the Sphynx breed, stand out due to their lack of fur and distinctive look. If you’re considering adding one of these fascinating felines to your family, here’s everything you need to know about finding and caring for a sphyne cat for sale near me.
Understanding Hairless Cats
The Appeal of Hairless Cats
Hairless cats are not just a novelty; they offer a blend of charm and intrigue that many people find irresistible. Their lack of fur means less shedding and fewer allergens, making them a suitable option for individuals with allergies. But it's not just their appearance that makes them special. Hairless cats are known for their affectionate and playful nature. They love attention and are often described as "lap cats" because they enjoy cuddling with their owners.
Popular Breeds
Among the most well-known hairless cat breeds are:
Sphynx: The Sphynx is perhaps the most recognizable hairless breed. With its large ears, wrinkled skin, and prominent cheekbones, the Sphynx has a strikingly unique look. This breed is known for its energetic and friendly disposition.
Donskoy: Originating from Russia, the Donskoy has a similar hairless appearance but with a more muscular build and a slightly different skin texture. They are also known for being very affectionate.
Peterbald: Another Russian breed, the Peterbald, has a similar hairless look but with a more elegant and refined build. They are known for their playful and loving nature.
Where to Find Hairless Cats for Sale
Reputable Breeders
Finding a reputable breeder is crucial when looking for a hairless cat. Here’s how to ensure you're dealing with a responsible breeder:
Research: Look for breeders who are well-reviewed and have a good reputation in the cat breeding community. Online forums, cat shows, and breed clubs can be valuable resources.
Visit the Breeder: If possible, visit the breeder’s facility to see the conditions in which the cats are raised. A responsible breeder will maintain a clean environment and ensure their cats are well cared for.
Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask questions about the cat’s health history, vaccinations, and any potential genetic issues. A reputable breeder will be transparent and provide all necessary information.
Adoption and Rescue
Adopting a hairless cat is another option if you prefer to give a cat in need a loving home. Here’s where to look:
Animal Shelters: Some animal shelters and rescue organizations may have hairless cats available for adoption. Check with local shelters to see if they have any hairless cats in need of a home.
Breed-Specific Rescues: There are breed-specific rescue organizations that focus on finding homes for hairless cats. These organizations can be a great resource for finding a cat that fits your needs.
Caring for Hairless Cats
Health and Grooming
Despite their lack of fur, hairless cats still require regular grooming:
Skin Care: Hairless cats have oil on their skin that can build up and cause skin problems. Regular bathing is necessary to keep their skin clean and healthy. Use a gentle, cat-specific shampoo and consult your vet for recommendations.
Temperature Regulation: Without fur, hairless cats are more sensitive to temperature changes. Ensure they have a warm, cozy place to sleep and avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures.
Diet and Exercise
Maintaining a healthy diet and regular exercise routine is essential for hairless cats:
Nutrition: Feed your hairless cat a balanced diet that meets their specific nutritional needs. High-quality cat food that is rich in protein and essential nutrients is recommended.
Activity: Hairless cats are active and playful. Provide them with toys and playtime to keep them mentally and physically stimulated.
Conclusion
Hairless cats are more than just their unique appearance. They offer a loving, playful, and affectionate presence that many people find endearing. Whether you choose to adopt or buy from a breeder, ensuring that you find a reputable source and are prepared for the care they need will help you enjoy a rewarding relationship with your new feline friend. If you’re ready to welcome a hairless cat into your home, they are sure to bring a touch of excitement and affection to your life.

for @nosebleedclub's january prompts no. 16 — the grey coat with red lining.
the front door is brown. and the walls inside are a dry beige. your mother insisted that soft neutral colors look good for interior, but you never saw eye to eye with her about home aesthetics. the coat rack is thankfully black. the coat you use everyday is grey — although at the rate it's going, you won't be surprised if it's more the color of dust and the real grey of the material.
the office is half a city away and you commute everyday at five twenty, coming back just shy after nine. the grey coat is like a protective armor with a lot of history. your brother had a phase in highschool when he thought fashion was the only way of self-expression that was ever valid and bought a whole sewing machine. his first result, the fabrics from god-knows-where, is this battered grey coat. it's downright horrendous, worn and torn at the edges thanks to the amateur handicraft and the everyday use. the red lining on it clashes horribly against the base color — he said once it was a symbolism of one's immense passion rebelling against the system that forces everyone into molds and turns people into copies of robots, robots into copies of people. you've used this coat everyday for two years since you started working at the office.
your current job pays well. well enough to put food on the table. well, that's a lie. your mother puts the food on the table. your father passed away two years ago. your mother still cooks the same dishes she's always cooked, places the food atop of the same cracked ceramic plates she's always had, tells the same anecdotes of her sweet youth and your father's hardships through his life as she's always done. but you're the one who wins the bread to be cooked into toast every morning, even if your mother is the one who has to turn on the toaster and wash the dishes after you've gone off to work, even if your brother mourns and mourns and coops himself up in his room, ladden with grief, and your sister is too young to understand anything. in this sense, your current job pays well — well enough your mother doesn't have to look for another fulltime job, although she does take up knitting to sell some scarves, and well enough someone always has some time to place the dinner plate in front of your brother's door and well enough your sister can still grin a toothy smile everytime you buy her a new toy for christmas and tell her santa thinks she's a good child.
well enough for you to buy another coat.
it's hard to pinpoint why exactly you haven't bought one. on the online shopping platform you use nowadays, everything is cheaper when you know the tricks. soap and shampoo, frying oil, a new vacuum cleaners when the old one broke, canned tuna your sister maybe likes too much to be healthy, the tote bag you got for your best friend's birthday last january, the yarns for your mother. coupons, vouchers, discounts, sales, promotions — everything can be a trick utilized when you're in need or it can all also be a trick used on you, the needy. you've scrolled through dozens of coat options, all grey, without red linings and varying degrees less ugly than your current one. every time, your thumb hovers over the little cart icon and you hit the back button on your scratched phone screen.
there are other important things you could get instead. your shoulders sag with weight and your mind clears.
there are still other bills you need to pay. you go over the numbers when you wake up in the morning and once again when you're about to sleep in the night.
there are two siblings, one who still needs his time to slowly rise out of his cocoon, another one who is barely a budding sprout, a mere seed. there is one mother, smile lines visible and skin starting to dull, too old to be selling her soul to keep strangers warm in the winter.
these days, your eyes burn a lot and you wonder if you need to check it out or if it's that hard to admit that you always want to cry. the new coat can wait. the red lining is still strong, no matter how muddied the grey fabric is looking — it's not breaking anytime soon. it can hold the fort still a while longer, maybe you just need to sort out your priorities and budget a little tighter for now.

a list of grievances with the modern internet:
there’s no such thing as ‘no’. it’s always ‘not now’ or ‘snooze’ or ‘remind me later’
fucking cookies popup on every goddamn fucking website you visit. every single time.
when you try to unsubscribe from marketing emails and then you have to log into an account you didn’t know you had
so many ads that a page is completely unreadable
paywalls for information about like, for example, a global public health crisis
ads that make fucking NOISE and/or pause your music/video
when you go to an online store and it tells you to sign up for emails to get a discount, so you put in your email and actually they want your phone number too so they can text you every time you visit. ping ping bitch it’s us again
‘hello fellow kids’ but it’s Sally’s calling you their bestie in the subject line of an email about a shampoo sale. they’re in their shampoo era.
‘don’t skip this ad!’ fuck you
‘choose your ad experience!’ y’all seen that shit on Hulu? just get on with it
every app you download is like, I know you just opened the app for the first time but, would you like to give us money?
‘this is your sign to -‘ no it isn’t, you paid money to put this in front of my eyeballs fucker
my boyfriend Spam Risk is calling me again, he’s so clingy, I dunno how he keeps getting my number after I block him
would you like to hear the opinion of every person in the world about stuff that may or may not even matter? you have no choice, you just read something ignorant and you’re mad now
even if you don’t look at comments, you’re looking at comments. here’s the top one! I sure hope it’s funny or insightful and not just the most inflammatory one that got the most engagement!
that stupid automated tiktok voice or whatever it is, it is so grating to me
whatever the fuck tiktok did to make people censor extremely normal words
whatever the fuck youtube did to make people censor extremely normal words as a means to avoid demonetization
filming or taking pictures of strangers without permission
everything is a fucking subscription. and paid services that didn’t used to have them are now bringing them back because they hate you.
have I mentioned the ads? it’s actually kind of disturbing how much we are bombarded on a daily basis with not only ways to spend money, but our attention. the capital isn’t just money, it’s attention. attention is the best commodity.
I need to lie down.
(Also im far from the first person to make these observations, I just felt compelled to compile them)
#late stage capitalism is going great thanks for asking#I feel like my brain is actually literally melting#mine

I am feeling very very bad right now. I am 90% sure it's because I got a vaccine today but man
Am I uncomfortable right now. I just want to go to sleep. I hurt literally everywhere. This is not fun.
It was a good day though. It was so nice to be clean and in my own bed. But waking up was hard.
When I did get up I really liked my outfit and I felt good. Me and James got ready to go and we were on our way to the museum.
I was kind of not having the best time though. It would all work out but man. Things weren't going well. I forgot my cashbox, which has my credit card reader, and part of my stand. I was frustrated. James offered to go back home but I didn't want that. It made me feel terrible. But it would be fine. Helen offered me he extra card reader but sadly she has an apple phone so it wouldn't work for mine. But I appreciated her so much. And everyone said if I needed change they would help me out. But it ended up being fine and everything worked out.
I would make a few sales. It was a good day! We had lots of new faces and kindness and it was good.
I also decided to talk to the health department. And they said that because I'm immunocompromised I can get another booster. I doubled checked with my injection's website and it said as long as it's more then a week out it's fine. So I went for it.
I ended up having a really lovely conversation with the workers there. And got to talk about the tug boat for a little while. And after they gave me the shot they gave me a $25 gift card!! Amazing!
I would move my arm a bunch because that's something I had heard from the booster the last time. And I tried to drink a lot of water. And James would get me a quesadilla for lunch. So I hoped I wouldn't have the side effcets I normally have.
But my legs and feet would start to hurt. And even though I know I make, and made, better sales when I'm standing I had to sit. I would work on my knitting and got 5 squares done. Was pretty pleased with that at least.
Ann left for her nephew's wedding and I was in charge. I would go and check in with other venders. James bought me black raspberries and that's was fun. Was fun to try a new fruit. They stain like crazy but they tasted good.
I was happy when it was the end of the market. I would have a nice chat with the new vender who makes pot holders and scrunchies and I hope she comes back.
I would load up my stuff. And sat on the ground and read a New Yorker article while the food venders finished packing up. Stanley laughed at me for sitting in the ground but I was comfortable.
I would head inside to say goodbye to James. Who accidently grabbed me right on my injection site. Ow. I was already feeling like a little baby but I needed to make it home.
First I stopped at the grocery store. I got new shampoo and conditioner. Some stuff for the dinner James wanted to make. And a lunch for myself tomorrow. I tried to find the wrist brace but they didn't have the right kind. So I would end up just ordering one online.
Getting home was a nightmare. The regular route said it would take twice as long. And then I couldn't even get off my exit so I went off the next one and took the most bizarre way back to MLK.
I was so happy to be home. I felt so tired.
I got everything I bought at the grocery store tore, and the pie James for and the quiche Ginny gave me, put away. And then changed to lay down.
I would fall asleep for a while. I was not feeling good but I couldn't get comfortable. Thankfully I would fall asleep eventually. But when I woke up James wasn't home. A wedding party for tomorrow came late and came to the door and so James was helping them but they took almost a full hour. Ugh.
They would be home soon though. And I was happy to see them because I felt so bad.
James would make us dinner. And I would make a TikTok about grimace's birthday. Because the scary tiktoks were fun but the baby grimace who had no one come to his party was to much for me. In my fragile not feeling good state, I keep crying about it!! So I got my grimace beanie baby and lit a birthday cake candle for him. Poor baby.
We played video games for a bit. But my eyes kept watering. And I wasn't feeling good. I felt so weak.
Showering was really tough. I had to have the water low and cool because the water hurt my skin.
James got me my hoodie because I was super cold all of a sudden. But I had to do my post. And it's been really hard to focus. But now I can sleep.
Tomorrow I have to clean the fish tanks and I want to cut out bear fabric. I also just want to rest. I hope I can and that I don't feel so bad.
I hope you all sleep well tonight. I hope you are feeling good and get good rest. Goodnight everyone!

Tumblr, do you want to see what I was doing at midnight last night? Get your head out of the gutter (I mean, or don’t. You do you, babe). Anyway, I was watching this:
That’s right, a low budget hallmark-esque Christmas movie and this is why you should watch it too:
First, I need to tell you, this movie is not good. You should not go into it with high expectations. This is not Goncharov. It is, however, ridiculously charming. There are 4 important characters (Haley, Kate, the-brother-whose-name-I-don’t-remember, and MeMaw). There are 4 supporting characters (the boss, who in a twist is not evil, the bad guy, the bad guy’s son, and Masonry (the vibe-checker)).
Haley (the woman on the right) is the high powered business executive. Her job duties include: doing important presentations and wrangling social media. Kate (the woman on the left) is the ranch hand with the inexplicably amazing hair. Like, I want her shampoo. The two leads’ hair in this movie is just completely on point.
The brother has some form of East Asian parentage, though it’s never brought up. MeMaw is Lindsay Wagner. None of these people look related. It’s easier to assume that everyone is adopted.
You know this movie is going to be good (bad) when Kate goes off on a horse at the beginning of the movie to fix a broken fence post and she can’t get back to the ranch before nightfall, so she goes to a motel and no one takes into account what happens to the horse. Like, was the horse tied up outside the motel? Did the motel have stables? Do people often ride their horses to the motel so the motel is prepared for these types of situations? We’ll never know.
Anyway, the ranch™️ has fallen on hard times thanks to a bank loan with exorbitant interest rates. They were doing ok by making money off of a Christmas hayride, but the bad guy set up his own hayride to try to drive them out of business where he could buy the ranch. They never say why he wants to buy the ranch so badly, but the important part is they’re trying to take away the family home at Christmas.
So, the brother (IMDb tells me his name is Charles) tries to call Hayley to get her to come home. Hayley blows him off several times before she gives in and heads home. Meanwhile, the start up where she’s working is about to be sold too. This is a good thing. It’s never quite clear what the start up does exactly, but it is something that involves a social media person who Hayley has to fire at the beginning of the movie. So Hayley has a big presentation to do to help with the sale. I’m sure you’ve already figured out how we’re going to Save The Ranch.
Before she goes home, Hayley has a online dating app date with Masonry. It does not go well. It involves a Chilean butterfly naming ceremony. And then Masonry consciously uncouples from the date because it wasn’t passing her vibe check.
Haley gets to town, and for another inexplicable reason, has to stop at a motel for the night instead of going straight home. This is the same motel as the somehow has hidden stables motel that Kate stops at for the night. They both open their dating app and it’s amazing! They actually match with someone in this tiny town in the middle of nowhere! (They match with each other, if that wasn’t clear). They go on an impromptu date at the local watering hole where they lie to each other about who they are until Hayley has an emergency and has to go. A social media emergency. Everyone is like, wtf is a ‘social media emergency?’ Because they’ve never been Eli Lily and had their stock tanked by a fake tweet about free insulin. Suffice it to say, the date ends badly.
Things do not go up from there. Hayley finally gets to the ranch and the first thing she does is suggest firing Kate because she’s too big of an expense never mode that Charles is utterly incompetent at running a ranch and MeMaw can’t do everything alone. Kate, or course, overhears this and is somewhat annoyed. I’m not downplaying that for humorous effect. That’s her actual reaction. “Somewhat annoyed.”
I’m not going to recount the rest of the movie because you should know by now whether or not this is your kind of thing. But there is an “only one bed” scene, and a “can’t get on a horse and needs help” scene and hot chocolate and deer stew and a Christmas hayride. MeMaw is obviously trying to play matchmaker. Haley has a Tragic Past and this leads to the Big Fight.
The leads have more chemistry than they have any right to and that really saves the movie. I legitimately wanted them to kiss every time they were on screen together. Until they actually kissed, which was just…so awkward.
Anyway, I think it was an excellent use of my time and I think you should watch it too. Because these types of movies are not supposed to be good. They are supposed to be charming and make you smile and make you root for the couple, and this movie did exactly that.

Unleashing the Power of a Salon POS System: 7 Ways to Maximize Your Revenue
A POS (point of sale ) system designed specifically for salons can transform your day-to-day operations by integrating tools for inventory management, appointment scheduling, and payment processing in one place. With Miosalon’s Salon and Spa Software, for example, the in-built POS system offers everything you need for a smoother, more profitable business. Here’s a deeper look at seven ways a salon POS system can revolutionize your salon’s productivity and revenue.
1. Automated Inventory Tracking
Efficient inventory management is one of the standout benefits of a salon POS system. Imagine running out of popular hair products on a busy day—it’s an instant revenue loss. With salon management software, you won’t have to face that issue again. The software keeps an up-to-date record of your stock, alerting you when supplies run low, helping you stay well-prepared and in control.
For instance, if your salon offers a range of hair care products, from shampoos to styling gels, the POS system tracks each item and lets you set automated restocking alerts. This prevents inventory shortages, keeping your clients satisfied and boosting your sales from retail products.
Pro Tip: Maximize profits by using salon inventory management software to keep popular products always in stock.
2. Seamless Checkout and Online Appointment Scheduling
Today’s clients expect convenience, and a salon POS with online booking features allows them to schedule appointments at their convenience, even outside of business hours. It’s a win-win for your business—clients love the flexibility, and you can fill up your calendar more effectively.
Moreover, integrated SMS reminders reduce no-shows, ensuring clients don’t forget their appointments. By providing an efficient, online experience with a salon POS system, you keep your clients happy and engaged while improving your salon’s revenue potential.
The in-built payment processing feature also enhances the experience by speeding up checkouts. From online bookings to quick in-person payments, a salon POS system allows your salon to operate smoothly and efficiently.
3. Streamlined Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping can be overwhelming for salon owners. Fortunately, a salon POS system automates much of this process, recording transactions and categorizing them for easier financial management. Automated bookkeeping reduces manual data entry and minimizes errors, saving you time and enhancing accuracy.
Additionally, a POS system can track expenses and generate insightful financial reports, showing a detailed view of your salon’s performance. For example, you can categorize expenses like rent, utilities, and supplies, enabling you to analyze your spending and pinpoint areas to reduce costs. With this information, you can make data-driven decisions to improve profitability.
4. Efficient Payroll and Commission Management
Payroll is a frequent headache for salon owners, with each pay period requiring time-consuming calculations. A salon POS system like Miosalon’s makes payroll management easier by automating commission tracking. You can create tiered commission structures for employees and map these directly to individual profiles.
The software’s tracking capabilities ensure every sale and commission is recorded accurately, giving your staff confidence in their earnings. Automating payroll and commission calculations can save your salon on accounting costs, and your employees benefit from timely and accurate payments.
5. Upselling and Gift Card Sales
Once your inventory is in check, the next step is maximizing your sales by upselling and offering gift cards. A salon POS system with client history tracking allows you to review past purchases and make personalized recommendations based on client preferences. These tailored recommendations not only boost revenue per visit but also enhance client loyalty.
For instance, if a client previously purchased a specific hair treatment, you can use the POS system to suggest related products or services that align with their needs. Additionally, gift cards are a powerful revenue booster, and a POS system simplifies gift card sales, creating an opportunity to increase your salon’s profitability with minimal effort.
6. Automated Reporting for Strategic Planning
Centralized reporting is vital for planning long-term business goals. Miosalon’s salon POS system can generate performance reports, including profit and loss statements, sales breakdowns, and client retention rates. These automated reports provide a comprehensive view of your salon’s financial health, allowing you to make informed business decisions without spending hours compiling data.
Automated reporting saves time, eliminates errors, and helps you spot trends to make strategic adjustments. With instant access to financial data, you can analyze which services drive the most revenue, track expenses, and develop growth strategies that align with your salon’s profitability goals.
7. A Paperless, Environmentally Friendly Solution
Traditional salons rely heavily on paper for various tasks, including scheduling, receipts, client history, and consultations. Paper waste not only impacts the environment but also leads to unnecessary costs. Transitioning to a paperless office using salon POS software reduces your carbon footprint while enhancing productivity.
With automated client records, digital receipts, and e-invoices, you can eliminate paper use in your salon operations. Clients appreciate digital invoices for their convenience, and you benefit from streamlined, clutter-free processes. Adopting paperless salon management contributes to a sustainable environment and makes your salon more attractive to eco-conscious clients.
