putting together the puff quilt I started in May 🧵

I wanna show you the coolest thing ever:

My grandma made all of this from scratch and SURPRISED me with it!!!!!

The red is fabric is textured and the edges of the collar actually go up naturally. It doesn’t look real!!!

She even added Oblivion on the zipper pull because she knows that’s my favorite keyblade 🥺

To make things more incredible:

SHE PAINTED EVERY. SINGLE. SQAURE ON. And it looks and feels PRINTED.

I am never taking this thing off. I can never repay my Grandma. 😭😭😭 I have never in my entire life seen a more perfect replica of Roxas’s fit. Everywhere I had looked online they just didn’t look the best. This one looks real, like it was pulled out of the game, and it’s actually so comfortable (I can see why Roxas wears it every day in Twilight Town.) I didn’t use any filters on these photos, the colors are actually that perfect.

I did not get much crafting done today because I spent almost my entire lunch break fighting with the healthcare marketplace website* but here’s my next baby quilt wip! I forgot to make my cousin’s next baby a quilt ahead of time and my grandma is sending her crochet blanket in the mail soon so I am making a quick little fisher-price themed quilt (the back is crayola themed)

*aka I forgot my password and had to be on hold for a while to talk to someone who could unlock my account after I locked myself out. Everybody I’ve spoken to on the healthcare marketplace helpline is so nice! Like, you’ll have to hold for a while but once you get past the hold, in my experience they will not hang up until you are successfully into your account and have no more questions. If you are in the US and haven’t tried it yet, it’s open enrollment right now!

another thing i made recently! a heart shaped tote bag ❤️ one of my first projects made on my vintage singer sewing machine. it’s been sitting in storage for a while but i decided to pull it out and get it fixed up and in working order last week and i’ve been teaching myself how to use it since!

this bag was made from salvaged cotton i rescued from the side of the road 🤘

What i've been working on!

Not everything on this photo is finished but I lost one of the rays of the mask after using it so,,, yeah no after photo for that lol

Moon doubles as a bag! It was certainly a learning experience trying to figure him out

Never again am i painting fabric, but i'll probably redo his pants eventually so it's actually puffy

Embroidering and sewing makes me think about how, for thousands of years, our clothes were lined with our grandmas' own spit. And our mothers' and sisters'. And the little hairs that get caught in the line of fire. The hairs are pulled out, but they break, and fine, unnoticed bits remain trapped between stitches and fabric. Every time I stick the end of a thread into my mouth to make a point to fit through the eye of a needle, I think of my grandma, a seamstress in her youth, and how many thousands of grandmas before her and all the clothes lined with their spit.
