Here’s my personal interpretation of the timeline of Kirk and Spock’s relationship

So they meet when Pike is still captain of the Enterprise and they become friends right away. Once Kirk becomes captain and makes Spock his first officer they start working together a lot more and through spending more time together they fall in love at some point during the 5 year mission. Once they both realize it and confess to one another they start seeing each other in secret (we’ll call it dating even though they can’t really make it official)

Then Spock goes to Gol and obviously this means they won’t be seeing each other and Spock is seeking to purge all of his emotions so for that time they’re broken up

During the events of TMP when they’re reunited for the first time in 3 years and Spock accepts his emotions, they fall back in love, and the hand holding scene, especially the little nod they exchange, is how they both know it

Now there were approximately 12 years between TMP and TWoK. I think that after the events of TMP they started dating again and at some point during those years they get married

In TWoK Spock calls himself Kirk’s friend, both when giving him command of the ship and when dying, saying that he has been and always will be that. Kirk also refers to Spock as his friend at Spock’s funeral. And it’s true, because even though their relationship has advanced since then, that’s what they were first, and have continued to be even as they eventually fell in love and later tied the knot

Then in TSFS, Spock remembers Jim’s name and that he was Jim’s friend because, again, that’s the first and most important thing that they were to each other

And Kirk understands that Spock is going to need some time before his memory fully returns, but he secretly doesn’t mind it all that much because it means that he and Spock get to fall in love with each other all over again

Then after the end of TUC they happily live out their retirement together and we all know that nothing tragic happened to either one of them after that!!

Sometimes I think I desperately want a star trek show or movie or something that revisits ds9 and what they're doing now....and then I think about how none of the new shows can seem to quite capture the....the vibes. The atmosphere (the film cameras and lack of advanced technology tbh) of the older shows and I just sigh and realize I don't actually want anything about ds9

GIRLS! I. just found out something.

so in my psychology classes we have been learning about behaviorism and john b. watson. You might know him from the little albert experiment in the 1920s where he fucked over a small child by traumatising him w a white toy rat and a loud noise. You can look it up, it's wild.

Anyways, he also wrote child care book which basically said that children shouldnt receive any parental love bc it conditions them into becoming dependent on their parents, essentially holding them back from becoming successful later in life.

Watson also raised his four children accordingly (who all ended up w major psychological issues ofc) and one of his children, mary ickes watson, later had a daughter, mariette hartley, who became an actress.

AND THIS DAUGHTER.
