The original post? That was me, squinting at screenshots and counting buttons like a cryptic ritual. It was more of a headcanon stitched with instinct than anything grounded in research. A feeling, more than a fact.

But your responses? They helped rewrite that headcanon into something real. From Rickman’s costuming rituals to the historical anatomy of his silhouette, what was once quiet speculation has become a shared archive. Below is a compiled summary of what I’ve learned from you all.

🧵 Uniform Construction & Rickman’s Influence

Alan Rickman helped design the fastening of the coat to evoke a sense of constraint—real buttons, no zip.

He would button the uniform himself before filming, describing it as a ritual to become the character.

The sleeves extended over the hands on purpose, creating a feeling of isolation or shield.

🖋 Historical Fashion Notes

The silhouette borrows from early Victorian frock coats—narrow at the waist, long, with tightly spaced buttons.

The cravat and stiff collar are stylised to suggest discipline and emotional repression.

Black Pearl is captured an enslaved by the CoD in order to destroy/drown the Creme Replubic, how did the CoD do this? with the help of an aspiring young cookie beast tamer named Sea Tamer Cookie of course! who is in no way related to House Oyster haha wdym?? and with the help of some dark magic and a few ancient artifacts they were able to wear her down enough so they were able to slip on some shackles and some spells and VOILA!~

The CoD's personal natural disaster!, only she seems to have retained some of her will it seems much to DE's annoyance but nothing time and patience can't fix

In the mean time with her emotion's magically and severely repressed Black Pearl is forced to look at her long and deeply repressed memories and trauma as she's forced to serve filthy land cookies against her will, fortunately not everything is bad(?) her new "master" happens to be nothing but an arrogant child who looks... suspiciously like a certain spineless traitor... and who she accidentally ends up becoming close too much to her wounded heart's immense chargrin

Hopefully Black Pearl can figure out how to get out of this mess before thing's blow up

Meanwhile Captain Caviar notices something is up with the Duskgloom Sea when it's infamous storm seemingly disappears over night, which is where he ends up running into the Monarch of Tear Crown, Crimson Coral Cookie and Frilled Jellyfish cookie (who seems to be deeply bothered with something not even she knows, but whatever it is it's bad) where they all discover that the Soveriegn of the Duskgloom Sea... is missing

Caviar has a bad BAD feeling about all of this and so does Crimson Coral, so they put aside they're differences in order to look for the missing Soveriegn... before something not very good happens

Oooogh, love this this so much Also, I’m imagining the companions(Cloud Haetae, Candy apple cookie & Black Sapphire cookie, and Nutmeg Tiger) will be there from their masters (idk if they may or may not interacted with reader but I like to imagine they did) They know it so well, even if their masters don’t show it/admit it, but their companions knows it

Oh, yeah, the minions almost certainly knew of their masters' partner even if not personally. Candy Apple and Black Sapphire can certainly see that Shadow Milk is grieving and try to be there for him, but can only do so much. Candy Apple is more likely to have been close to Shadow Milk's partner than Black Sapphire is, I think, and is also likely grieving them a lot, but Black Sapphire is probably the one most distant- friendly with them, but not close- and by extension most put together about their death. I think there's a lot of back and fourth with the two of them on if the best way to help him is to just help feed further into the lie he's telling himself, help him make it more 'convincing' or to... Not do that. Cloud Haetae can also see that Mystic Flour is ever-so-slightly off, but she denies such. Cloud Haetae instead approaches comforting her as them seeking comfort themselves, which she 'begrudgingly' gives. Cloud Haetae was almost certainly close with Mystic Flour's partner and is grieving themselves, though mostly cares about how Mystic Flour feels (or "doesn't".) Nutmeg Tiger, though, I think is far less 'close' of a minion to Burning Spice than the others are to their leaders, so I'm not sure she'd be able to read Burning Spice as well as the others are able to read their masters. She does, perhaps, get an inkling that his partner's death is directly linked to shifts in his behavior, but I don't think she'd seek to 'comfort' him about it because Burning Spice very, very strongly aims to make it seem like he does not want nor need comfort, and if anyone offered it he'd almost certainly react with violence instead of any kind of acceptance. She almost certainly had no personal attachment or connection to Burning Spice's partner beyond being aware that they existed and were his partner.
