things you have to do in different games in order to wield the master sword:

gather the three pendants of virtue from across the land in order to be deemed worthy of wielding it (alttp/albw)

be put into a coma by the sword for seven years because you literally weren't even ready to wield it (oot)

conquer the tower of the gods and be deemed worthy by the literal gods themselves so they'll give you access to the place where the master sword is hidden (wind waker)

have at least thirteen hearts so the sword doesn't straight up deem you unworthy and flatline you on the spot (botw)

things you have to do in the four swords games in order to wield the four sword:

walk up to the sword after being very conveniently led there by zelda. in both games

draw it

there's the very ominous "So you accept the fate of the one who draws this sword?" question in fsa but we don't worry about that
