#series 5 speculation

I think we need an origins episode in series 5. One that tells the story of Mrs. Hall's arrival to Skeldale. Helen could feature as she told Audrey she remembers the days when it was just Siegfried and Mrs. Hall. Tris would be gone off to school and we could see Helen dropping by to pay a bill. We know Siegfried was "a mess" and Mrs. Hall was dealing with the fallout of her marriage breaking up and her son being sent away. Mrs. Hall said it "were chaos" but we know she was a "stalwart" and she completely understood Siegfried was grieving Evelyn. He may have been prickly, but she knew he was a good man. I would imagine seeing how much he loved his wife meant a great deal to Mrs. Hall. His struggles with trying to parent Tristan? She could relate to that as well due to her struggles with Edward. Perhaps we would see the fallout of an assistant that did not work out. It could be really, really good. Imagine if it played out that the tale was being told to baby James by either Siegfried or Audrey...or both as they sat for him.

I have to say, I would very much like to see the first time Audrey helped Mr. Farnon get ready for a dance at Pumphrey Manor. I want her breath to catch a bit when she sees him in his tails for the first time. Kind of like his breath was taken away when he saw her in the fancy dress on Christmas Even 1938.

Mrs Flood being Susan would be really funny tho. Because you have Susan Triad: this perfect, lovely peoples person who wants to help everyone, dangled as Susan. She has dreams! Could be fobwatched! The Doctor's wonderful lovely perfect granddaughter returned!

But Susan wasn't a perfect person. So instead it's the woman who can be sharp, blunt, and even a little bit mean. But who is also mischievous and fun when she wants to be. Someone who's just a bit odd. All of which, imo, can be very Susan.

Someone who has clearly lived a life. Sitting at the sidelines being enigmatic as hell. Her grandfather's granddaughter. Just think It'd be such a good twist

Alright who's ready to overanalyze how povs are broken up from a Stormlight 5 update from over a year ago? Spoilers for the entire series, including preview chapters for KoWT

So our POV blocks are as such: Szeth and Kaladin, Dalinar and Shallan with Renarin and Navani, and then Navani, Adolin, and Venli with their own things going on.

Let's dive in. Szeth and Kaladin is easy: Shinovar field trip.

Shallan and Dalinar aren't as intertwined, but seem to go together. Dalinar will be prepping for the contest of champions, and it seems Shallan is going after Ba Ado Mishram to find her before the Ghostbloods do. Navani I would expect to be helping Dalinar. Renarin is also in here so I wonder if he (+bridge 4) might be going with Shallan. That'd be an interesting group.

Jasnah is off on her own again. Not terribly surprising. Wit seems to be heading out to find an old friend (Cultivation?) for help, and I want Jasnah to go with him. Imagine how much we could learn about the greater cosmere

Venli is with the singers and will have her own plot again. I'd also expect her to meet up with the rest of the main cast towards the end for any big climax

And then, hey Adolin, whatcha doing by yourself over there? I think it's quite interesting that he's been separated from the main plots. Most of the theorizing for the last few years puts him with Shallan for the BAM plot, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case here. If you've ever been privy to any of less hinged Stormlight theorizing then you know he's my #1 pick for Odium's Champion, and imo separating him from the rest of the cast is a good step towards that end. In any case I think this is the first time he hasn't been playing support to Kaladin/Shallan/Dalinar's plots. Make of that what you will. I can see Dalinar sending him off on his own little mission

I have the opposite of special interests and you may think thats just like, how non-autistic ppl experience stuff but i mean the complete opposite end of the scale.

I hadn't seen that! Big props to the sleuths who figured out that Ray is in Sand's room in that pic. Before that, Nick and Boston walk in on Sand and Ray and that's presumably where the fighting starts, but...why? Because I can definitely see Boston and Ray getting into a fight about Mew (how Ray is his second choice, how Boston is just jealous of Top, etc). But the timing of that fight would feel...off? It's also because, while I can see a fight breaking out, Boston really doesn't have any right to be mad at Ray. Still, Boston and Ray fighting is the most likely possibility for the reasons you listed.

Finally, I know Nick and Boston aren't exactly by the book (so to speak), but if I walked in on my friends making out on a beanbag, I would immediately apologize and hustle to the other room. Clearly things will not work out that way here.

The subs were weird and the set-up of the scene was weird but it seems like forest ranger Din "saved" Ken when he got lost in the woods while out taking photos. That's how they met, and it's very apparent that for Din it was love at first sight.

The last episode still had way too many flashbacks, way too long fight scenes and a whole lot of meandering (CXS getting shot and for WHAT). But finally, finally! They have answered all the big questions we armchair detectives have been speculating since s1 and it has manifested in the most concrete, unmuddied way, and it's about time!! Did I think it was too much at the same time, or too little, too late? The pacing is still questionable at best, but I am satisfied with how they wrapped this episode up which is all we ever wanted to begin with.

Final Stormlight 5 Predictions

Alright, we're entering the home stretch, and preview chapters are starting. I'm undecided if I'll read them but I did want to get my theories all down in one place to score how well I did later on. 😂

Spoilers for the whole Stormlight Archive, including what's been released so far for book 5

So going from most to least confident.

Adolin will be Odium's Champion, and he will lose

Chana is Shallan's mother (not my theory but I fully back it)

Dalinar will break the terms of the contract, most likely in a simple way. I'm really eyeing the "unharmed" part of the contract. Todium will be freed from all of Honor's bounds

Kaladin will live and become a therapist

All of our ten flashback characters will live

Oathpact revival, but not in the way we've all been thinking. Since Dalinar will inadvertently break the contract and free Odium, they'll need a quick and desperate way to keep Odium in the Rosharan system so that he does not wreak havoc on the rest of the cosmere. Odium will claim Dalinar's soul, and that bond will be flipped to then bond Dalinar to the other nine and bind Odium to Roshar in turn, at least temporarily

Freeing Ba Ado Mishram will not revive the deadeyes, though it may make it be possible to repair their original bonds, ie: Testament

Mad dash for the honorblades. We'll get Kaladin going after Moash for Jeszrian's blade, plus Shallan/Chana confrontation, and Szeth vs Nale

Shallan wasn't actually the one responsible for bringing back the desolations. That was finagled by our friends the Ghostbloods. Because, the Ghostbloods/Thaiddakar were effectively in league with Gavilar/The Sons of Honor, so a Ghostblood accompanying Chana to kill a budding Radiant is them either directly working against Gavilar, or they were actually responsible for Chana's death.
