He is totally abandoned in the way he buys book after book, never to read a single one. I wouldn't mind if he used his head and bought in moderation, but no. Whenever the mood takes him, he ambles off to the biggest bookshop in the city and brings back home as many books as chance to catch his fancy. Then, at the end of the month, he adopts an attitude of complete detachment.

Not to be dramatic, but it's been what, eight years? EIGHT years, my friends, and not only did I just randomly find out today from a random JP post that the background featured in these screenshots in Free! Dive to the Future ED (Gold Revolution) isn't from a location in Japan, but they could be from the interior of a concert hall building located in Singapore?
I mean, I've been to said hall a few times and I kinda see the resemblance now, but all this time, I had assumed it was the interior of one of their concert halls, which I've never had the opportunity to see in person. Also, I've always had the impression that all concert halls tend to look a certain way (posh! lush! carpeted!), so it could have been any concert hall out there. Like beach, I really thought!
But yeah, wow! This one was right under my nose all along, huh. What do I even do with this information.
#Free! Dive to the Future#Free!#And now for something a little bit different#I don't really seichi junrei at locations in my home base but always here to yell when anime gives the little red dot a shoutout.#one of the JP commenter said it was the Esplanade but I thought it also kinda resembles the one at Marina Bay Sands hmm#I should pay attention the next time I attend any events at both these sites just so I can scratch this itch

THERE IS. a website. that takes 3D models with seams and pulls it apart to make a plushie pattern and informs you where things need to be edited or darts added for the best effect. and then it lets you scale it and print off your pattern. and I want to lose my MIND because I've lost steam halfway through so many plushie patterns in the mind numbing in betweens of unwrapping, copying all of the meshes down as pieces, transferring those, testing them, then finding obvious tweaks... like... this would eradicate 99% of my trial and error workflow for 3D models to plushies & MAYBE ILL FINALLY FINISH SCREAMTAIL...

Soiled Sorrow: today too snow falls on it; soiled sorrow: today too wind blows on it.
Soiled sorrow is like, say, a fox’s fur; soiled sorrow in its torpor dreams of death.
Soiled sorrow frightens me piteously; soiled sorrow can’t be remedied, and the sun sets…

Genuinely don't know what it's called but there's a particular way of violating reality that doesn't work. For example, I am willing to accept an omegaverse university AU of nearly any fandom you care to name (except, for some reason, Sherlock, because I have an inexplicable hatred for unilock). However, a lot of Star Wars university AUs specifically fail on this aspect: they make Anakin an engineering PhD student and Obi-Wan something like literature or classics, and then they make Anakin his TA or GA.
You can't do that. Absolutely not. Anakin is unqualified for that and a university would not do it in any case. A university would literally hire a junior or senior undergraduate workstudy student to do as much of that work as possible first. They would do NOTHING other than do that and make the prof do all his own grading.
Is there a name for "I will accept [wild fantasy premise] but not [ordinary wrong thing]?" Please tell me there's a name for this. Probably someone who studies lit will know? I'm a systems person I don't know from lit theory just like Anakin
#unless the AU rule is established to be different from our world we would instinctively draw our reference based on rules of our world.#The write stuff

Seiyuu of the running boys reuniting as (potential??) brother-in-laws is certainly not on my bingo card, let alone Lahan's first introduction to Apothecary Diaries being a dialogue exchange with Jinshi himself. Their exchange makes it even more pronounced to me now that both seiyuu are using different registers to voice their characters in this series that are a little higher pitched than the ones they used for the running anime.
But anyhoo, imagining seiyuu of the running family reuniting for voiceovers on the same schedule does give me life like Ayyyyyyyyyyye~ *fist bump*
Carry on/ :)

Hi! I have a question for Run with the Wind! In the novel, is Hana in love with Kakeru? On Google and fandom wiki, it says Hana was in love with Kakeru, is it true? And I read comments that Kakeru had a crush on Hana but was it revealed in the novel if he still had a crush on her at the end?
Hi there! To be honest I don't remember if it's ever been confirmed one way or another who Hana has a crush on, so I think it pans out the unanswered vague way as it did in the anime.
But spoilers next:
I definitely remembered Kakeru feeling some ways about Hana but is too dense to understand it, Haiji noticing it and playing cupid to try to set the two up to get Kakeru to realise it for himself, and Kakeru finally clicking that he is in love with Hana when he and Jota had their conversation in the car. That much is canon.
Another canon part —and this is the fun part— is how neither boys had made a move on Hana (remember over here she's a freshman attending Kansei along with the boys), because Kakeru always thought Hana was interested in the twins, while Joji thought Hana was interested in Kakeru!
Kakeru also didn't realise he was in love with Hana till that point yet so there's that, but after realising his feelings for her, Kakeru did think it's fine if Hana turns out to be in love with one of the twins after all, and he'd be happy for her either way. (We love our respectful kings!) He also thought there's still plenty of time to change her mind, so there's that too. (We love our competitive kings as well!)
So is it canon that Kakeru is in love with Hana? Well, yes, one could say that. Do they end up together in the end? That's left up to the readers to decide. But it is also canon that after graduation, Kakeru would reject all the offers from big corporations to go join Haiji's works team. So is it canon they end up together in the end? Well, yes, one could say that too. And that's all she wrote. ;)
#All is fair in love and run#Just kazetsuyo things#If you've read my one true headcanon you'd know I'm pulling for Joji for Hana but HC isn't canon so I stand by that all game is fair game#Gotta say I genuinely love how the first years all abide by the Bro Code(tm) in their own way

hello! Sorry to bother you, idk if you still do this but Ive recently gotten into run with the wind and I was wondering so much about the difference with the novel.
Would you say that the novel explores better or makes better use of Hana as a character than in the anime or is it pretty much the same?
Also, was fujiokas and haijis relationship as important in the novel or was it one of those things that the anime took creative liberties from?
Thank you for your translations!!
Hello hello! It's so nice to know there are still new fans getting to know Run with the Wind in the year 2025 and I'm SO hyped :D Never too tired to yell about this wonderful series, I say!
I haven't read the novel in awhile, but from what I remember, novel Hana is pretty different from anime Hana in the sense that as a freshman at Kansei University, her vibe and dynamic with the first years as fellow peers is a distinctly different feeling compared to a high school teen interacting with University students, where she comes across just a little bit more innocent, pure, and admiring from afar.
Personally, I think anime Hana had more agency and character development, the boys being a direct influence and inspiring her to want to go to Kansei too. We don't get that for Novel Hana. And if you know your novel lore you might have heard that the author introduced Hana only because her publisher insisted on adding her, kind of. And while I am of the opinion a story's canon should be judged on what was actually written in the story and not what the author's intention was, it did lead me to believe that Miura sensei might not be as invested in Hana to develop her character much in the novel. So tl;dr, I think the anime did better, but they did borrow some basic elements of Hana from the novel and expanded on her from there, so you would definitely catch familiar scenes between novel and anime versions.
Fujioka and Haiji's relationship is, I think, pretty close between the novel and anime versions. They were former teammates and hold each other in very high regard, although novel Fujioka had a more intimidating aura overall, maybe because of his looks (canonically, Fujioka is bald and stotic). And we do learn from Haiji more fun things about Fujioka we did not get in the anime, like Fujioka's nickname as "the monk", for example. I also vaguely recall Fujioka was the one who revealed to Kakeru that Haiji was actually invited to join Rikudo after HS but rejected the offer, so I would put these two as being more than just casual teammates.
It's speculation and overthinking on my part from here on, but I see them both as top athletes when they were back in HS, so I would guess they'd get special training menus different from the rest of their teammates and train a lot more together, being deemed to be around the same level of competence. There's also something to be said about Haiji being the son of their HS coach + Fujioka's 'bluntness' that could foster the type of environment where two exceptionally talented athletes find themselves more isolated from the rest of their fellow teammates, and thus become closer to each other as a result. The headcanons I have about these two, lemme tell ya! But this tumblr is not ready for that floodgate of texts.
It's been a good few years since the anime has dropped and the best update about this IP is that the Run with the Wind novel FINALLY has a very official EN version, so you can read and judge the characters for yourself instead. I've skimmed through the novel and I've liked what I've read so far, the translator and editor have a way with words that I can get behind, so I do encourage you to give it a try for sure!
Knowing Kazetsuyo is a love that never quite goes away is giving me the motivation to get something up again, so thanks for taking the time to write me! May the winds be ever in your favor!
#kaze ga tsuyoku fuiteiru#Run with the wind#kazetsuyo#Thanks for the message!#Oh to be gushing about this series in the year 2025 :*)#Always something there to remind me#My fandoms let me show you it#The EN fandom has really come far from digging around for fandom crumbs from other media to finally getting the novel translated in EN huh!
