Hey other autistic (and otherwise neurodivergent) peeps, I need to share this tip with you.
If you are (same as me) always searching for new comfort objects or things that make daily life less harsh, try and look in the baby section.
Baby stuff is made to be gentle, to be safe, and (usually) to calm them down. I always skipped it since I haven't been a baby for a very long time and also hope to not have a baby for a very long time, but I have found now multiple items there that helped me with my sensory issues.
I recently found a starprojector there, which gives off the perfect amount of light if I am overstimulated. (And has pretty stars!) I now use it every night as a night light before I go to sleep, and I love it so so much. And I bought the softest plushie, like super super super soft, who has been my comfort in quite a stressful time.

me: I hate that I can never focus on books or reading, I need to go to a cabin in the woods with a stack and not be disturbed until I finish, there’s nothing like the feel of a paper book in your hands and the smell of an old, well-loved favorite and even the chunks that fall out bc you’ve read it over a hundred times and the binding is fragile books
me when the Wi-Fi goes out: böōōkš ?? never heard of her

Peace Love Autism: Celebrating Neurodiversity with Compassion and Kindness
"Peace Love Autism" is a positive and inclusive phrase that encapsulates a supportive attitude towards autism and the autism community. This slogan is often found on various merchandise such as t-shirts, mugs, pins, and posters, serving as a visible symbol of autism awareness and acceptance.
Tumblr media
Buy now:19.95$
The phrase combines three powerful concepts:
Peace: Representing harmony, understanding, and a calm approach to the challenges associated with autism.
Love: Emphasizing unconditional acceptance, support, and care for individuals on the autism spectrum.
Autism: Directly addressing the neurodevelopmental condition and bringing it into focus.
This mantra promotes a world where individuals with autism are fully accepted, understood, and supported. It encourages a compassionate perspective, advocating for patience, kindness, and inclusion in all aspects of society.

The "Peace Love Autism" message is often accompanied by visual elements such as the peace symbol, a heart, and the autism awareness puzzle piece or rainbow infinity symbol. These graphics, combined with the text, create a eye-catching and meaningful design.
This phrase is popular among autism advocates, family members of autistic individuals, educators, and anyone who supports neurodiversity and autism acceptance. It serves as a conversation starter, helping to raise awareness and promote a more inclusive society for people on the autism spectrum.
Autism puzzle piece colors are symbolic hues associated with autism awareness. The most recognized color scheme includes:
Blue: The primary color, often used in autism awareness campaigns.
Red: Symbolizes challenges and determination.
Yellow: Represents hope and positivity.
Green: Signifies growth and new perspectives.

These colors are frequently combined in a puzzle piece pattern, which has been a symbol for autism since 1963. The puzzle piece represents the complexity of autism spectrum disorders and the diversity of individuals affected.
While these colors remain widely used, some organizations have adopted different palettes or single colors like gold. In recent years, some advocates have moved towards using a rainbow spectrum to represent neurodiversity more broadly.
These colors appear on various awareness materials, including ribbons, logos, and merchandise, helping to increase visibility and promote understanding of autism.

I'm super curious, how do folks experience overstimulation? Or understimulation? I always feel like overstimulation doesn't usually hurt (excluding physical stuff it can cause like headaches) but instead just fills up my brain and makes it harder for me to think clearly. And understimulation feels like an ache under my skin that's hard to get rid of. I've seen a few similar descriptions of understimulation but not as much about overstimulation? Or at least not in the same way? I don't know but I'm super interested in if other folks experience either or both differently!
