I'm not going to stop screaming about this as long as there is oxygen in my lungs.
Gaza is experiencing an attempt at genocide and the Western world, led by the US and its trusty lapdog Germany, is facilitating it.

It amazes me how easily westerners fall into Russian propaganda of "The world cares about Ukraine more than [any other equally horrific genocide going on at the same time]!"
They care about us so much they keep selling Russia weapons to kill us with. This almost reminds me of my parents!

In today's edition of shooting star - make a wish, I wish the USA would fucking stop encouraging wars and actually invest in free healthcare. 🤡 Say no to the death merchants (aka weapons industry) and yes to the life saving (aka all types of medical staff).

What do you think about Biden's speech, Jam?
Could it have been better? sure always
Could he have mentioned Ukraine and the war more? yeah
But it was actually an overall really good and very strong speech. He condemed Russia and the war, spoke about supporting Ukraine and made clear that Ukraine and Ukraine alone decides stuff.
The speech actually gave me hope that the trip to Washington is not just a photo op but something will actually come out of it. Maybe they really waited for Ze's visit to announce ATACMS.
And maybe that will finally make Olaf decide to give Taurus to Ukraine.

It's so wild to me to see under that Xiran Jay Zhao's post about the bombed ukrainian printing house comments like "I hope everyone is safe." And I get it, people are saying this out of kindness and pure consern, there's nothing wrong with it. It just shows how little coverage our war has abroad.
No, no one in Ukraine is safe. No one in that printing house was safe, in fact, 7 people died. No one in a huge hypermarket in Kharkiv on Saturday was safe, in fact, there were 18 killed and 48 injured. And all this happened in the span of only a few days.
No one is safe in territories occupied by russians because the whole family can get killed by refusing to give up their home to russian soldiers. And every time ukrainian army liberates some region, they find mass graves and torture chambers there.
No one is safe even far away from the front line and the border with russia, because missiles and drones fly all over Ukraine, and you never know when the next one will land on your house.
Hell, ukrainians aren't safe even abroad, because there's always a chance there will be some crazy russian or russian supporter who will decide to beat or kill us. And I'm not making this up.
I'm aware that I'm more safe than the people close to the front line and the border with russia or in occupied territories. I don't hear explosions every day, unlike my friend from Kharkiv. But that doesn't mean I'm completely safe. Missiles and drones fly by at least several times a week, especially at night, when I don't hear the sound of an air raid siren simply because I'm asleep.
I am not safe.
My family is not safe.
My friends all over Ukraine are not safe.
We're not safe until russia is gone from our territories. That's why we need all that ammunition and aid. War won't magically stop if our allies stop sending us weapons; that's not how it works. We'll just be more unsafe, because russia won't stop unless it is forced to.
Here's ukrainian news sources you can follow that report daily:

You see, part of the reason I tend to try to avoid discussing current events too much (especially ones I see being talked about a lot) is in part like I've said, that I figure that it's nice to mostly be kind of an oasis from bad news. Just whatever random stuff I've decided to reblog (I mean, at the end of the day this is all just stuff for me, like the pictures I endlessly requeue are cause I want to see them)
But it's also kind of calculated in trying to avoid fatigue. I want to give enough information about a situation to hopefully make people aware and care, but not so much it's overwhelming
Cause I'll be honest. I'm experiencing fatigue when it comes to Ukraine right now
A couple things to make clear, the first being obviously that what I'm feeling is nothing compared to what the people living there are dealing with
Also by fatigue I don't mean that I'm tired of hearing about it, I'm tired of it still fucking going on. Just... for god's sake can't we do something to actually finish this and end all the suffering (not concessions, finish as in russia leaves all Ukrainian territory)
It's just kind of a grinding horror, more missiles fired at civilians every single damn day, and... it makes it hard to focus as well as I used to when I'm looking at the news because it's just day after day of literal atrocities and war crimes
I'm not gonna stop keeping up with this, I really can't. What's happening in Ukraine just... I won't be able to properly rest till it's over. It just struck a cord with me on some really deep level
Once again, what I'm dealing with is nothing. I'm safe, I'm alright, I'm not looking for sympathy with this. I'm following the situation, other people are the ones living it. None of this is meant as a sob story, it's meant to describe fatigue even in someone who cares and isn't going to just stop thinking about it to catch a break from an ongoing horrible situation
Which once again, my core point here is that this is why I try very hard to pick and choose what I feed people about horrible stories. I want enough to make sure people know and hopefully care, but not enough that they can't deal with it
There's a lot of stories with Ukraine or Iran where I won't share them, because they're too horrible and I worry they'll be demoralizing. There's a degree to which I through selection sanitize these... well crimes against humanity, what else can you call them? I mean, I assume that even if I don't tell you, you can figure out the sorts of horrible things the russian military and Iranian government are doing (and they're both very linked to each other). I just leave it at crimes against humanity instead of specifics to avoid piling more on people than they can deal with
Because at the end of the day I'd rather people just be in the corner of justice than have them up to date on all news, if having every detail is just gonna paralyze them
...not that I know that any of us have a clue what to do, I know I don't

By Gary Wilson
Yes, sending so-called military trainers is, in fact, an aggressive escalation. Imperialist military wars can start with “military trainers.” During the First Indochina War (1946-1954), French military trainers in Vietnam began an escalation of the imperialist war on Vietnam, eventually leading to the deployment of French combat troops. This eventually led to U.S. involvement, first with trainers, then followed by tens of thousands of combat troops.
On May 20, a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin urging him to authorize the use of U.S.-supplied long-range weapons to strike deep within Russian territory. The letter reflects Congress’ growing move to escalate U.S. military operations in Ukraine, including expansion beyond Ukraine’s borders into Russia.

The Biden-Harris Administration is prioritizing sending more weapons to Ukraine over the interests of the people of North Carolina who are suffering and desperately need help right now. But if we dare criticize the Harris-Biden administration, they accuse us of being “dangerous” and spreading “disinformation.” This is a direct attack on free speech, and something that happens in dictatorships, not democratic republics. If we do not hold them accountable in this election, they will continue putting the American people last.

So, I've had people asking, why does it matter if rockets are fired towards Tel Aviv and other settlements when they cause a fraction of the damage done by an Israeli missile?
Psychological warfare - the rocket barrages eliminate any sense of security that Israelis might have during the war. It reminds them that there's a price for the occupation of Palestine. I can't tell you how many videos I've seen of people in luxury resorts and other high class lodgings shouting and fleeing in fear at a rocket from Gaza or Yemen. It makes it hard for them to go about their daily life ignoring what is happening. Furthermore it undermines the strength of the IDF. Netanyahu can go on TV and claim to have complete control over Gaza but a rocket barrage undoes that easily. A rocket barrage tells Israelis and the rest of the world that not only is Hamas (and the other groups) still intact, it has enough of a stockpile to still bomb parts of Israel over 50 days into the conflict. Israeli media is constantly shocked every time this happens because there's always the assumption that Palestinians are unprepared in every way for the conflict we're seeing today. It forces them to take the threat posed by the Resistance very seriously which of course leads to the existential meltdowns you see on Israeli social media accounts.
De-settlement - There are hundreds of thousands of internally displaced settlers right now. Most of them are unwilling to return because the settlements are still getting hit and it's obvious the IDF is struggling to get things under control. The annexation of Palestinian land and the formation of settlements has led to a great deal of violence towards Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank. Hence, why forcing settlers to evacuate is seen as a great success by the Resistance and their supporters. Hezbollah, for example, has mentioned that several times while doing debriefs of their efforts in the conflict
Hits to the economy - if the settlers are evacuated, who will run local businesses? Not to mention underpaid and overworked foreign migrant workers have fled the country while exploited Gazan workers are trapped in Gaza. Israel is trying to combat this by making deals with countries like India and Mali to get tens of thousands of workers but it's not going to be enough especially the longer this conflict goes on. There's also the fact that tourism won't recover to pre war levels due to security concerns. The same thing with foreign capital leaving the country. Israel is too unstable and evidently incapable of regaining that stability (by quickly defeating the Palestinian resistance) which makes it risky to invest in Israeli businesses.
Logistical nightmare - Gazan rockets are cheap to produce, Israeli interceptor missiles are not. Israel is spending more to stop the barrages of rockets than the Resistance has spent probably in the past 5 years. It's the same issue on the Northern border to Lebanon and whenever Yemen sends its long range missiles. It's not like both Israel, America and Europe have endless supplies of weapons and ammunition, they sent most of their stockpiles to Ukraine. The longer this goes on, the more dire things will get but we're already seeing the strain
