One of the things that I really like about MXTX's work is the way she writes love. The characters love each other because of their qualities, personalities, values, interactions, shared experiences, understanding, kindness and support towards each other. And sure because of attraction. But love hasn't much to do with sexuality. In fact, assumed sexuality of the other is the reason why characters hesitate to express their love. And isn't that interesting? While sexuality obviously matters, it's independent of love.

This is also something I find lacking in a lot of straight romances. He's a man, she's a woman, what else could there be between them but romantic love? Umm... many things actually. They can be best friends, acquaintances, rivals who dislike each other, colleagues who are just being polite, people who experienced the same unfortunate incident and so get it, people who just respect each other's skill/talent, found siblings, team members, people who tolerate each other because of common friends/relatives, people who only talk to each other about a singular shared interest, online friends who don't even know each other's real names, etc.

In real life, relationship between people goes beyond gender and sexuality. Sexuality is often used in straight romances to explain love. I have never understood it. To me sexuality can cause attraction but it doesn't necessarily lead to love. She's pretty but doesn't know it, he's hot and remembers a thing about her, they met again and again is not enough of a reason.

Love is borne out of aspects beyond that. I think MXTX does a good job of establishing conditions that lead to love, compatibility, devotion, and respect. She also does well in creating characters deep enough that they are human before men*. That's why even platonic/familial relationships are convincing in her works.

This is also why, in my experience, usually LGBTQ+ romances are better written than straight ones. Authors have to work hard to get to know their own characters. When love is not a convenient result of gender, sexuality or attraction, it has to be explored as a shared human experience. And that's when it's compelling. When love is about innate humanity rather than "because author said so."

*(men (as gender identity) bec most characters in her works are men and well it's BL and this post mostly focuses on romantic love).

Someone on Instagram asked me "Do you think Vox eats? What's your opinion?" So it's Headcanons time!!!

I think Vox needs both to eat food and to recharge with electricity!

It kinda sucks because if he doesn't eat he feels lethargic and if he doesn't recharge he feels super weak. (Obviously it's a well kept secret and the only ones that knows this are Val, Vel and Alastor)

When he first arrived in Hell he didn't know he had to recharge too and he always felt like shit, luckily after a year or so Alastor (during one of his tease/pranks more like attempt murder) plugged one of Vox's cables to an electric grid and Vox surprisingly felt immediately better.

Nowadays he kinda has the opposite problem, as he often forgets to eat actual food and simply recharges himself by plugging in. This isn't really an issue for him, because he rarely leaves the V-Tower, and he can use his full powers with just the recharge. But Val and Vel always try to find time to spend lunch breaks and dinners with him to make sure he actually eats.

Also Vox is not really lactose intolerant, but he does have issues with the consistency of foods. (If he is in public he always manages to politely decline the bad food without acting out of his charming persona)

i have such mixed feelings about the idea of “moving in privacy”. i think there are seasons for it (certainly your late 20s/saturn return you will probably desire retreat for a while, or any time you feel uncertain). at the same time, moving in public with a thoughtful personal brand can be an incredible, powerful, and easy way to bring connection and opportunities to you. sometimes i think all this “disappear and move in privacy” talk is just a symptom of poor boundaries and rebranding the fear of being vulnerable… but if you can figure out boundaries and overcome the fear of actually being recognised for your gifts and strengths, well, the world is literally your oyster.

a lot of you guys are giving way too much power to loa bloggers. you let them decide the terms of your reality and you let their opinion become your opinion on things. i see in so many blogger's inboxes the question of "can i manifest this?" or "is this possible?". well what if they said no? then what? you'd just believe them and give up on manifesting that thing? that's bullshit. and i know some of you who get a yes from them still doubt it anyways, so you are capable of forming your own opinions and beliefs on things, you're just not doing it for whatever reason. well you need to start. ✧ ˚﹒Stop putting loa bloggers on a pedestal

they might not always give you an answer that is right or best for you. like how crazy it is to think we're people who know everything and know all of the truths for you in your reality, no that is something YOU need to decide for yourself. and also, loa bloggers are human just like you. just because they have a blog, maybe more success stories, or more understanding, does not mean they are better than you or that they're the holder of the answers to your own reality. your reality is yours to control so why are you relying on someone else to help you control your reality and tell you the rules for it? that's up to you, so take them off the fucking pedestal and stop seeing them as someone who has the authority to tell you how you should handle your reality. also it is okay to ask for help, but some of you guys are using these bloggers as a second leg to stand on. sorry but no one is going to hold your hand every step of the way so stop expecting them to. ✧ ˚﹒Relying, researching, and reassuring.

it's okay to doubt and be unsure of yourself, but your go to should not be the inboxes of bloggers. don't go running to them everytime you're stuck or you don't feel sure about something. instead, you should either ask yourself, research more on loa, or even reassure yourself. remind yourself that you are capable of manifesting anything. you can also ask yourself "well what would a god say?", probably that i can do fuck anything i want! if you're capable of thinking it's yours, then you're capable of making it yours. one reassurance statement you can use is "if i can think it's mine in mind, then i can manifest it in reality". the problem is you guys aren't relying on yourselves and that is why you struggle so much with external things because you need the validation from them, but does that align with you being the god of your reality? would god need to go to another god to ask "hey can i do this with my world?" NO so why are you? rely on yourself. trust yourself. answer yourself, like a god would. ✧ ˚﹒Reminder on the Law of Assumption the law of assumption states that whatever you assume to be true is going to be true, and you can assume anything. also, the law is impersonal. it's not like santa who gives a fuck on who you are or what you do, no the law is just working for you no matter what. so no your circumstance does not make you the exception, it's just something personal to you so that's why you're doubting. but guess what? the law dgaf! the law is always working for you no matter what.
