"B-but the co-creator said that they were just friends! You can't ship them-" Do you think in the whole of fandom history somebody ever cared let alone stopped shipping something because of what the creator of said fandom had to say about it? Be serious.

Praying to god that Wild Kratts has an episode centered around gharials because I'm still not over how they referred to them as crocodiles (of which they are in the same order, but not species) and resulted in one of the most confusing (yet aesthetically pleasing) tidbits of lore involving the Creature Power Suits, and I can't be the only one who had to do extensive research on gharials for myself right?

hey guys remember like a few days ago when a good chunk of this fandom thought ed and stede weren't going to reunite until like the very end of the season, or at least that they were going to spend a big chunk of the season separated? and then the full trailer dropped and suddenly we got all this footage of them in the same frame interacting and everyone realized how unlikely those predictions are??? and how literally just a tiny bit more detail changed everyone's perspective on things?????
anyway yeah maybe we need to all think abt that for a minute and like. rethink the way we're treating certain theoretical s2 plot points as if they're a given.

honestly, I’m convinced that at least half the upset about the whole [redacted] situation (other than the reactionary tension of living through a world that is the way it is, but that’s the internet in general) is anger at max for forcing a shorter season that is instead misplaced towards the creatives for trying to execute their full vision under the threat of cancellation. the pacing issues are totally valid, and I get feeling that there was no breathing room for the emotions to sit, and that those factors may have led to the feeling that it was poorly done. just…please don’t harass the writers about that 🙏🏽
if you think they should’ve handled it differently knowing the budget was cut I totally get that, but genuinely—if you had a three act story fully outlined and then were told after act i aired that you only had maybe 70% of your anticipated screentime and resources to execute it, would you rewrite the entirety of your story to adjust to the constraints, or try your best to fit everything in anyway? not saying either option is superior, but I think picking the latter is a reasonable creative choice under those circumstances that anyone would at least consider. and whether or not it worked with the pacing it had is a fair critique, but that’s still not a reason to harass or guilt-trip people. let’s try not to dunk on the person who got a plastic straw while ignoring the billionaires setting the world on fire (and yes that metaphor is extreme but I’ve seen too much homophobia/racism/etc. come out of this echo-chamber to ignore the real-world implications)

They learn quickly that the monsters are sensitive to sound.
He gets used to talking quietly. To always watch his step and always be aware of his surroundings. Someone had the idea to raid the schools and communicate exclusively using blackboard and chalk. Hawkins has never been so silent, but that doesn't bother him too much. He grew up in the silence, after all.
What bothers him is that his hands won't stop trembling. He never had the prettiest handwriting, but the chicken scratch he produces now is barely readable. Worse, he needs for-fucking-ever to write even a single word, only for it to not even look like english half the time.
He and Robin can communicate without words - he is truly convinced that they are living proof that soulmates are a thing - but with everyone else he has to struggle with the chalk, until he just gives up and starts talking less and less. If he died because he took too long writing smalltalk or pleasantries on the blackboard he would never live it down. He tries to convince himself that the grizzled-cool-silent-type suits him. With moderate success.
Although the whole town was literally transported into a different dimension, all adults seem to maintain a silent agreement to continue on as if nothing is wrong. They still go to work and they still need to pay for groceries and the holes and cracks in the streets are nothing more than inconveniences. He even overhears someone complaining about those, once. As if everything would be fine if the holes were only filled with cement. (oh gee, he wonders - silently as always, why did we never try that genius idea the last three times the upside down made an unwelcome visit). The only shop that has escaped the clutches of capitalism is the weapons shop.
He can somewhat understand it, the need to pretend that everything is fine. That it was all some collective nightmare that will fade with the dullness of day-to-day life. Doesn't mean he can't hate it. Though he doesn't take it as hard as the rest of the party.
It makes sense if you think about it. Robin, Nancy, the shitheads - they are smart, they could all actually go somewhere, do something with their lives. But him? Steve Harrington never had much of a future anyway, and his chances of making it out of this godforsaken town were always miniscule. No. What honestly bothers him more are his hands that won't stop shaking. You can't use a gun if you are unable to hold still and aim. You have a harder time being fast and quiet when everything takes twice as long if you don't want to drop anything. Even his beloved bat becomes less reliable, the swings weaker and his actual target always a few centimeters off. So yeah, his trembling hands are fucking inconvenient.
Gas and Water and Electricity stopped working. The first few months all of Hawkins stinks of rotting food until some teacher has the grandiose idea of distributing history books. This has the added bonus of giving everyone something to do that isn't "pretending not to be under constant panic". Water filters get classified under "weaponry" so that everyone has access without the mayor having to change the law again.
Once more, he doesn't mind too much. The only reason he used to turn on the TV was to feel less alone, and now the rest of the party basically lives in his house. He doesn't even mind having to walk the entire way to and from the lake while carrying buckets full of water: he will always be a jock at heart, and it is a great way to work out and be useful at the same time. His biggest complaint is once again his fucking hands. Water is precious, but his stupid arm won't stay still and it keeps spilling out of the bucket. Every lost drip feels like a stab in his heart, and the only reason he doesn't cry is because that would be an even bigger waste of water.
But the most stupid and embarrassing part is that this isn't even his first rodeo. He has been here before, he knows what it is like. Everyone else is living the same situations that he is. And still, his hands are the only ones that won't fucking stop trembling.

The thing about natla is it’s almost perfectly cast and is visually great, all issues arise from changes made to pacing and release of background info that is probably far less jarring if you’ve never seen the cartoon (but who is watching this who hasn’t already seen the cartoon???)

Well the french in the last episode of iwtv was certainly something
#I think I needed the subtitles almost as much as someone who does not speak french. Had to re listen to some of the lines like 2 or 3 times#WHILE reading the subs to know wtf they were saying. Or am I stupid ? I'll ask friends what they think#(Not all the lines but some were hard to get for me)#Like i understand the main actors are not fluent. Not sure they even speak french cause sometimes it sounds like they dont know what the#fuck they're saying themselves. But would it kill them to hire at least french actors for background characters who have 2 lines. So that#at least the environement is believable. Like it was okay in the 1st season cause there werent big sentences in french but here..nope#also when Sam Reid speaks english with the french accent it's okay. It works honestly. I mean I think. And at least it's funny.#But in s2 having them act those big sentences wasn't a good idea. Really you can see they dont know where to put what little tonic accent w#have in french. And so it sounds fake. I mean ''ça sonne faux'' but i dont know how to translate that exactly in english. But yeah makes th#lines sound unsincere and meaningless. So the acting is downgraded. And I can see they're putting a lot of effort into it but it does#Make them sound like they're struggling hard. And we go back to the line not feeling right. Like they dont know what they're saying you kno#*I meant intonation rather that tonic accent (maybe ?) french doesnt have a lot of tonic accent(s). but both probably apply to this case)#Im only this bitchy about it cause it's a rather big production. Im pretty sure they have the resources to do better.#I know it most likely the same for any other language that was represented in the show. Or other shows for that matter. It's just that#I dont have expertise on other languages. Tho i dont remember what show i was watching where the actors spoke spanish and even i could tell#they were neither spanish nor from any latin america country. For the record i am not very good at spanish.#iwtv

Is there any meaning or symbolism behind Joffery, Rhaenyra,Aerys get cut by the iron throne?
So, practically the Iron Throne cuts people because it is sharp and uncomfortable as shit because Aegon specifically designed it that way as a metaphor for how ruling isn't easy and one should never get complacent about it. And it makes sense that people likely did cut themselves on it, even Aegon himself had his blood drawn from that chair (though that's because he was apparently holding onto the chair way too hard while reading Nymor's letter and not just an accidental slip), and if we're looking at it from a purely logical perspective, that's why people get cut on that chair.
But narratively, I do think there's a meaning to who we've seen get cut with the Iron Throne. Some of the most famous occupants who were ever hurt by the Iron Throne are some of few people we're narratively informed shouldn't have been anywhere near it. Maegor is literally killed while sitting on the chair, some say even by the chair (which is a theory I like), Aerys is cut so often that he is referred to as King Scab, and Joffrey very publicly slices himself quite badly on the thing. All three of these rulers are people that anyone even giving the material a cursory glance knows were unworthy to sit on the Throne. Maegor full on usurped Aegon the Uncrowned (and was a monster), Aerys was an absolute nightmare who singlehandedly brought about the utter ruin of his House, his family, and Joffrey is a bastard borne of incest who is psychologically disturbed and nearly ruined the realm with his bad choices and definitely not the right heir. So there is some genuine merit to the idea that the Iron Throne only wounds those it rejects, the ones who sit on it who are unworthy, and Septon Eustace does claim that Rhaenyra's cuts are a sign that the Iron Throne itself is rejecting her because she's not the true monarch (though Eustace is a Green partisan and as such we should look at this a bit askance). But I do think that claim isn't to be wholly dismissed. I'm not as anti-Rhaenyra as some people, but she was not a good queen. She was a bad politician and a bad administrator and her governance of King's Landing was atrocious, and it's in King's Landing that her true downfall begins. Doing things like hiking taxes, being cruel to the populace, alienating Daemon by wanting Nettles killed (for no reason), causing the Velaryons to abandon her due to her treatment of Corlys, the way she let rumors propagate about how badly she was treating Alicent and Helaena when they were both very well loved, that's what led to not just her having to abandon the city after the Storming of the Dragonpit but her eventual death. She wasn't doing her job as queen properly and was actively contributing to more suffering and misery, and so it's not out of bounds to assume that being cut on the Iron Throne is a symbol that she just wasn't right for the job at this point. And honestly, as I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan of eldritch abomination Iron Throne that does have some sort of strange magical say in who it considers worthy and how it'll be involved dispatching the unworthy (Jaime kills Aerys and then sits on the Iron Throne, stained in Aerys's blood and yet uncorrupted by the Throne itself, hmmmmmmm). And it ties into this idea that Valyrians used literal magic to build things, like Dragonstone and potentially the base of the Hightower, which is fun.
I don't think, however, that you can chalk up anyone who gets cut on the Throne with being explicitly "unworthy" of kingship/queenship either. Viserys I in the book cut himself on the throne and in F&B there's not really much to the idea that he likely shouldn't have been king, while the show does hold that more strongly but hasn't ever brought up the concept of cuts from the Throne being considered rejection by the Throne. There are also plenty of people in ASOIAF who are also bad rulers or just not the true rulers who aren't mentioned as having ever cut themselves on the throne, Robert was a bad king and never cut himself, Aegon IV is literally called "the Unworthy" and there's no record of him cutting himself, Tommen is just as much a bastard borne of incest who has no right to be in the succession as Joffrey and he hasn't cut himself yet. So I do think the aforementioned practicality of the situation does need to be taken into account, but broadly I agree with the in-universe symbolism that the Iron Throne is capable of physically rejecting occupants who are undeserving, giving them bloody wounds like they give the crown or the land or the people, to tell them that this will never truly and rightfully be there's, they've lost it or they just straight up never had it to begin with.
